This study investigated sex and age differences in autistic behaviours in children with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) who scored within the clinical range on the Social Responsiveness Scale - Second Edition (T score [greater than or equal to] 60). Thirty-four males and 28 females (3-16 years) were assessed with the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition and Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised. Across both measures, males exhibited greater social communication deficits relative to females. Age-related abatement of social communication difficulties was observed for males but not females. Conversely, no sex differences were found for restricted/repetitive behaviours, which were stable over time for both males and females. The findings are discussed within the context of broader neurodevelopmental considerations that are common in NF1.

This research compared the impacts of computerized formative assessment (CFA) and computerized dynamic assessment (CDA) on students' motivation, reading self-concept, autonomy, and self-regulation. Out of a total of 123 Bangladeshi pupils, 87 participants were carefully chosen as the study's sample subject based on the Preliminary English Test (PET) results. Using the convenience sampling method, three equal groups--one control and two experimental ones (dynamic and formative) (n = 29)--were randomly selected. Pretests were then taken by each of the three groups to assess their reading motivation, reading self-concept, autonomy, and self-regulation. Then, various treatments were presented to the groups. The control group students underwent conventional assessment. C-DA was administered to students in the first experimental group participants, while CFA was run in the second experimental group. At the treatment finished, the groups completed reading motivation, reading self-concept, autonomy, and self-regulation posttests. The data were examined using the one-way ANOVA test as well as the post hoc Scheffe test. The one-way ANOVA analysis showed that the three groups' posttest outcomes varied. The C-DA group outperformed the computerized formative group in reading motivation, reading self-concept, autonomy, and self-regulation, according to the data analysis. It was found that C-DA helped EFL students improve their motivation in reading, reading self-concept, autonomy, and self-regulation. Finally, recommendations for further studies were offered along with the conclusions, implications, and limitations.

In this article, we analyze our individually written testimonios and group conversations about our experience as 'woman' in Catholic schools in Chile, using Butler's concept of performativity and Braidotti's concept of nomadic subjectivity. We argue that some Catholic schools in Chile reproduce the category 'woman' as a pure, selfless, sexy, heterosexual mother who is an inferior and erasable being that is frequently discounted. This reproduction is done via different procedures of shaming, silencing, and even sexual violence. We experienced the telling of these testimonios as troubling but productive. First, this paper addresses the ideologies, values, and practices that Catholic schools construct around gender. Second, it suggests that the telling of and engagement with stories of embodied experiences is a beneficial strategy to battle gender oppression and work through productive discomfort and affects. Finally, the article considers the importance of dismantling subjectivity formation processes that consider some bodies as disposable.

Bullying behaviour refers to repeated negative behaviour displayed by one or more person (s) with the intention of hurting the feeling, personality and power of the victim. The objective of this study therefore was to find out the efficacy of Client-Centred and Rational-Emotive Behaviour Therapies in reducing bullying behaviour among in-school adolescents in Ilorin, Nigeria. The study adopted the quasi-experimental research method using a 3×2 factorial design made up of three (3) row groups (two experimental and one control). Stratified random sampling technique was used to select three secondary schools on the basis of location to prevent experimental contamination. Self-report questionnaire was used to purposively select the participants. The primary dependent variable was bullying behaviour and respondents with high score on bullying items and low scores on victimisation items were selected to participate in the treatment. The findings revealed a significant reduction in the bullying behaviour of the in-school adolescents exposed to experimental treatments; Client-Centred Therapy (CCT) produced significant reduction in the bullying behaviour among the in-school adolescents, and Rational-Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) produced significant reduction in the bullying behaviour of the in-school adolescents. It was recommended that CCT and REBT procedures should be employed in modifying bullying behaviours.

In this day, people all over academia feel that our democracy is eroding and that there is no need for rhetoric. Yet, if some effort is not made to help young people understand democracy and the role of public speaking in this form of government, all will truly be lost. The battle is always ongoing as long as on person stands to tell the story. Today, a story of how public speaking is a part of a democratic government will be told.
