The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable instrument to measure the performance of schools in relation to corporate social responsibility based on teachers' perceptions. To this end, content and construct validity and reliability studies were conducted with the participation of 521 teachers from four different study groups. As part of the related studies, a comprehensive literature review on the phenomenon was conducted and the theoretical structure was revealed through open-ended questions to the first study group of thirty teachers. An item pool was then created in accordance with the existing scope and the type of scale was determined. Eight experts were consulted for the item pool and the item pool was finalised and a draft scale form consisting of thirty-one items was produced. The draft scale, with the addition of the administration instructions, was administered to the second study group, a group of forty teachers, and thus the pre-application was realised. The scale that emerged after the pre-test was applied to a total of 451 teachers from two different study groups for exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and validity and reliability analyses were conducted on the data obtained from the study groups. These analyses showed that the total variance explained by the nine-item, one-factor structure that emerged from EFA was 81.8%, and the construct validity of the scale was supported by confirming the emerging structure with CFA. Reliability analyses revealed that Cronbach's [alpha] and McDonald's [omega] values were 0.975 and 0.976 respectively, and these values, which were quite high, proved that the scale was a reliable scale. As a result, a valid and reliable scale capable of measuring teachers' perceptions of the CSR performance of the schools where they work has been introduced to the literature.

Students who are educated by schools in rural areas experienced challenges around the world even before the COVID-19 pandemic, such as lack of resources and inadequate infrastructure (Çiftçi & Cin, 2018; Dube, 2020). The COVID-19 pandemic drew attention to the inequities of the conditions facing students in rural areas (EDC, 2020). These unique challenges were evident for those serving low-incidence disability populations, such as those children with visual impairment. There are unique challenges in providing support to students and their families with visual impairments in rural areas of the country. Those challenges included need for additional supports in technology, internet infrastructure, funding, and full access to accessible materials. Concerns over the health and well-being of teachers and students with visual impairments were also expressed as concerns but was not unique for teachers of students with visual impairments in rural areas.

In this article we report on an exploration of leadership and context for the improvement of quality education in South African socioeconomic-deprived school contexts viewed through Hellinger's contextual theory, open systems theory, Bronfenbrenner's ecology of human development, and Bourdieu's theory of field, habitus and power. A post positivistic approach allowed for a quantitative research design which employed an interpretivist lens to use the theory and the context to interpret the numbers. A self-designed questionnaire was used for the data collection. We analysed the data by means of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) analysis program and evaluated using a Likert scale. In the study reported on here, the mean scores -- sorted from the highest, which means the most important factor, to the lowest -- are presented. The findings reveal that low teacher professionalism and non-compliance to the regulations, contextual factors outside the schools (teenage pregnancy, vandalism), learners' circumstantial challenges, high accountability by the department without considering schools' contextual factors, and a lack of parental involvement in the teaching-learning process were among the biggest challenges for principals to influence quality education.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the leadership styles of private school administrators, teachers' informal communication levels and teacher Job performance. The population of the study consists of 951 teachers working in private schools (primary and secondary schools) in Nicosia, Kyrenia and Famagusta district of the TRNC. The sample of the study consists of 426 people who continue their teaching profession in the 2023-2024 academic year, which is determined by random sampling method. The data collection tool consists of four parts. In the first part, there are questions containing the general knowledge of the teachers. In the second part, the 24-item "Informal Communication Scale" developed by Ugurlu (2014) was used. In the third part, the School Principals Leadership Styles Scale (OMLSS) developed by Akan et al. (2014) was used. The "Teacher Job Performance Scale" used in the fourth section is a measurement tool developed by Limon and Sezgin-Nartgün in 2020. In the study, the data were analyzed with the 28.00 SPSS program. According to the results of the research, it is clearly seen that the leadership styles adopted by school administrators and the level of communication between teachers affect the Job performance of teachers. It has been determined that transformational leadership style has a positive and significant effect on Job performance. On the other hand, it was observed that liberating and sustaining leadership styles exhibited a negative and significant relationship with Job performance. In addition, it has been determined that communication style also plays an important role. The positive relationships between the contextual performance dimension and the friendship and entertainment dimensions show that teachers exhibit a communication style that positively affects Job performance. Overall, leadership styles and communication style were found to be determining factors on teachers' Job performance. According to the results of the regression analysis, which evaluates the effect of school administrators' leadership styles on teachers' informal communication levels and Job performance, there are significant relationships between the relevant factors. A positive and significant relationship was determined between the teacher Job performance scale and the informal communication scale. This situation shows that a strong and effective level of informal communication plays a role in increasing the Job performance and productivity of teachers.

Educator leaders play a vital role in fostering educators' and students' mental health and wellbeing. Through qualitative research, this paper provides insights from eight education leaders working in State Schools in Malta on their perceptions of, and experiences in, the promotion and support of mental health and wellbeing among educators and students. The objective of the study is to examine how mental health and wellbeing are being promoted, addressed, and supported in schools. Eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with education leaders followed by a reflexive thematic analysis. Four themes emerged from the data, namely school philosophy, ethos, and leadership; mental health and wellbeing in schools; loss and grief; and COVID-19 and its impact on mental health and wellbeing in schools The findings suggest the need for more proactive and supportive considerations of mental health and wellbeing in schools in Malta, along with the implementation and evaluation of mental health and wellbeing whole-school projects in schools.

The work landscape is evolving with the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), potentially rendering current jobs obsolete and necessitating new skills or retraining of existing occupations for future employment. This revolution is disrupting nearly every sector, including education, highlighting the need for education to address issues like unemployment, poverty, and inequality. However, to adequately prepare learners, this can only be achieved with sufficient material and human resources. Understanding these dynamics is crucial in determining whether school leaders and teachers possess the power or autonomy to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to empower learners for the 4IR. Power, the ability to achieve organizational objectives, is essential for school leaders and teachers responsible for information and communication technologies in schools to acquire the resources and competencies needed for the 4IR. Drawing on critical theory, this qualitative study explores how school leaders and teachers experience powerlessness due to the challenges they encounter in preparing learners for the 4IR. Semi-structured interviews facilitated participants' reflections and meaning-making of their experiences in this regard. The critical analysis of data yielded themes that underscore the complexities of preparing learners for the 4IR in underserved contexts ill-equipped for such endeavours: time constraints; teacher uncertainty; insufficient infrastructure, incapacitating influence of powerful top management; and detrimental control of district circuits. Participants felt constrained within their job descriptions, lacked the freedom to exert authority over their work, and faced obstacles in making independent decisions and implementing necessary changes.

This article describes the author's experience as a specialist working at a nature-based sleepaway camp for children and their families in Antalya Geyikbayiri. The camp was organized by a psychotherapist and three expert instructors to enhance the connections between parents and children, other children and parents present, and with the natural world, enabling everyone to gain different perspectives. The workshops are diverse and include activities such as nature discovery walks, awareness activities in nature, music sessions, philosophy workshops, movement exercises, circus arts, creative arts, storytelling, and rock climbing. With the support of natural settings throughout the different philosophy workshops, the participants gain insights into their perspectives on specific subjects, recognize beliefs accepted without much contemplation, understand their thought patterns, identify contradictions, and explore the possibilities of thinking differently. Their opinions may evolve, becoming clearer, more uncertain, or even changing altogether through interacting with other participants, the examples and counterexamples they provide, and the questions posed by the instructors and participants.

For much of human history, inequity was taken as a fact of life. However, as reflection on the human condition became more prominent, arguments that some forms of inequity can be ameliorated began to emerge. In this paper, the authors note that "inequity aversion" is a built-in human trait, and they reflect on the fact that, nonetheless, throughout human history, inequity has typically been the norm. In spite of the difficulties inherent to the challenge of making progress toward a less unequal world, the authors argue that progress is nonetheless possible, particularly if those bent on such movement adopt the following five rules of thumb: (1) Pick your battles, (2) articulate a precise doable vision, (3) speak to the collective imagination, (4) avoid virtue signalling, while embracing costly ones, and (5) get comfortable with tragic optimism. The article concludes by focusing on the need for educators to help shape the lenses of the next generation so that, when they view the enormity not only of the number of problems that humans face, but also the scope of each one, they are not overwhelmed either with anger or pessimism.

Abundant research has covered the benefits of and barriers to partnerships between schools and community-based organizations (CBOs; Sanders, 2001; Valli et al., 2016). The aim is for schools and CBOs to come together to foster student growth, particularly during out-of-school time. If two independent organizations, such as a school and a nonprofit CBO, are to work together to provide out-of-school time (OST) programming, then they must have common goals and set clear expectations. This study conceptualizes school-CBO collaboration as coordination of services and resources for children and their families through transparent and open dialogue about children's specific needs. Although literature detailing the characteristics of healthy school-CBO partnerships is abundant, few studies focus specifically on school staff members' perceptions of these partnerships. The authors' study aims to fill this gap. It suggests that schools take an active role in determining what their student body needs regarding OST programming and continually evaluate the fit between the needs and the programming. The aim of this study is to understand how school staff perceived OST programming provided by a CBO in their schools. The authors focused on four public schools in a single district in the southern U.S. where a single nonprofit CBO offered three empowerment-focused OST programs.

There have been multiple uses of the term educational engineer. Some define an educational engineer as an educator who teaches engineering exclusively. Others define an educational engineer as a someone who works outside the classroom altogether, doing research and making decisions about curricula (Anderson, 1961; Charters, 1945; Rudinskiy et al., 2020). However, Beedeez (2022) defines educational engineering as "a structured process aimed at designing, adapting, or transforming a learning system in order to optimize the effectiveness of the training." When the term is defined this way, all educators are educational engineers. The term applies to any educator who observes youth, designs lessons around the needs of their students, and revises their plans throughout the teaching process. Just as there are scientific methods and practices, there are also engineering practices and an engineering design process. Engineers ask questions to identify a problem, imagine solutions, make plans, create designs, and then improve them. Educators carry out these same steps while preparing and teaching a lesson. All educators design solutions to problems using the engineering design process. Afterschool educators in particular are flexible and frequently solve problems on the spot. By coaching educators to think about lesson plans as technologies and to consider their pedagogical problem solving as an application of the engineering design process, the author encourages educators to deepen their STEM identities and boost their confidence in their abilities to facilitate STEM activities with youth.

With the exponential development and vast interest in artificial intelligence (AI), the global economic impact of AI is expected to reach $15.7 trillion by 2030. While AI has infiltrated everyday life, a lack of knowledge of what AI is and how AI works is ubiquitous across all ages and professions. Teaching AI literacy to non-technical individuals has become imperative and requires immediate attention, however, assessing AI literacy has heavily relied on subjective measurements such as qualitative assessment and self-reported surveys, which may lead to biased results. This study contributes to the field by developing and validating an assessment created based on a well-established AI literacy framework. A total of 196 responses were collected from pre-and in-service teachers in the United States, and 186 responses were included in the analysis to validate the assessment. The final assessment comprises 25 objective-based items reduced from an originally 31-item assessment. Both experts' insights were sought, and statistical methodology was employed to ensure the validity of the assessment. The results indicate that pre-and in-service teachers have a moderate level of AI literacy and in-service teachers performed slightly better than pre-service teachers on our assessment. Inconsistent answers across various AI concepts indicate that teachers may possess an even more ambiguous understanding of certain AI concepts.

Civil Society (herein NGOs) seem to fall short of improving the education of immigrant youth in Hungary. This failure is significantly attributed to government's immigration policies that perpetually position immigrants at a disadvantage, in terms of equipping them with sustainable educational and socio-economic readiness skills. It appears that immigrants of African, Asian, and Middle Eastern origin, bear the brunt the most. NGOs are expected to defend justice and democracy, develop a language, and empower immigrants with a voice to express their past and present experiences, a possible effective tool in fighting discrimination, marginalisation, stigmatisation, and other forms of racisms, which is a path towards a sustainable future. This qualitative exploratory study that explores the various nuanced opinions of foreign teachers associated with the lack of sustainable educational programmes for immigrant youth, focusing on the intersection of civic society and education against the backdrop of the Hungarian political climate. With immigration posing profound challenges to Hungary's educational system, understanding the perceptions of foreign educators is paramount for extracting the complexities at play. Through qualitative analysis of interviews conducted among foreign teachers, this study uncovers multifaceted challenges impeding the development and implementation of sustainable educational initiatives. These challenges encompass insufficient resources, linguistic and cultural barriers, and institutional constraints. Moreover, the Hungarian political climate, characterised by nationalist rhetoric and restrictive policies, exacerbates these obstacles, creating a hostile environment for immigrant. The findings underscore the urgent need for policy interventions and collaborative efforts to address these challenges and foster a more inclusive and supportive educational environment. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the systemic barriers to immigrant integration and advocates for transformative change within the educational system. The results reveal a complex interplay of factors that shape immigrant integration within the Hungarian society.

The traditional perspective on education, teaching, and learning is no longer sufficient in fluid societies exposed to dramatic and rapid changes. The need for continuous educational reform is evident. However, recent paradigmatic societal shifts, extreme events, and extraordinary scientific and technological advances underscore the urgency of these changes. These developments highlight the necessity for innovation and the reduction of intergenerational gaps in educating new generations. By embracing these changes, we can create a more inclusive, adaptable, and innovative educational environment for all. While the Romanian educational system, like many traditional systems, is extensive in its spatial coverage, material resources, human resources, and the number of beneficiaries served, it also presents an opportunity for positive change. Its highly centralized, over-normative, and strictly structured nature, with a top-down control approach, has fostered systemic inertia and resistance to change. However, this also means that with the right strategies, the system can be transformed into a more dynamic and adaptable one. Effective and sustainable reforms are not just the responsibility of policymakers and educational leaders. They require initial assessments of the status quo to identify genuine needs for change and to determine possible obstacles and available resources. Real change and innovation are promoted and supported by a clear definition and understanding of the factors that generate and maintain inertia and resistance to change. Identifying and understanding these complex mechanisms at both the organizational and individual levels should precede any change plan, emphasizing the crucial role of each individual in the process. To identify individual motivations that can generate opposition or resistance to potential change requests within the educational system, we conducted a study involving 293 in-service and pre-service teachers from the Department of Educational Sciences at the West University of Timisoara. The study utilized the Resistance to Change Scale developed by Oreg (2003), a widely recognized and validated tool, which evaluates the primary factors determining resistance to change: routine seeking, emotional reaction, short-term focus, and cognitive rigidity. This scale was administered through a structured questionnaire and the data was analyzed using statistical methods. This study revealed notable variations in attitudes toward change based on gender, residency, and professional status (in-service and pre-service teachers). These findings underscore the importance of addressing both systemic and individual factors to facilitate meaningful and lasting reforms in education. By understanding and mitigating the sources of resistance, educational leaders can implement strategies such as fostering a culture of innovation, providing professional development opportunities, and involving stakeholders in decision-making, that foster a more adaptable and innovative educational environment.

Teachers are at high risk of voice disorders due to the heavy vocal demand of their profession as well as diverse classroom conditions that can stress the voice. Healthy vocal hygiene practices reduce this risk, but many teachers lack knowledge in these areas or have misconceptions about ways to improve their vocal health. This study aimed to identify knowledge deficits among teachers, and directly address topics with poorest performance to better generate vocal health resources for teachers and improve their overall vocal health.

This study examined the relationship of teachers' intercultural sensitivity to their in-class culturally responsive teaching. A total of 168 teachers with teaching experience in multicultural classrooms in northern Thailand answered a questionnaire with two psychological scales: the intercultural sensitivity scale and the culturally responsive teaching practice scale. To supplement quantitative findings, 19 teachers from the total number of participants were included in the semi-instructed interview. By conducting factor analysis, intercultural sensitivity perceived by teachers with multicultural facilitation experience in northern Thailand was extracted into three components: interaction engagement, interaction confidence, and respect for cultural differences. The results from structural equation modelling indicate that teachers' intercultural sensitivity significantly affects teachers' perceived culturally responsive teaching practices with the largest coefficient size. This study also discussed the associations between teachers' culturally responsive teaching practices and other significant background factors based on the local context, including school size, non-local student enrolment frequency, overseas travel experience, and the existence of intercultural colleagues.

As we consider the growing number of children from immigrant and refugee backgrounds that our schools serve, the importance of fostering anti-racist educators through teacher education is of the utmost importance. While anti-racist work can be a challenging and ongoing personal journey for every educator, engaging teacher education students with diverse children's and adolescent literature can lead to meaningful self-reflection that can foster empathy and global competence. This article shares how online university course modules were designed, with funding from the Longview Foundation, to support pre- and in-service educators to engage with children's and adolescent literature centered on the lived stories of immigrant and refugee families through scaffolded reading and thinking protocols as a model for using literature to encourage empathy and global competence with young learners. Pre- and in-service teachers reported several benefits, including an increased awareness of the importance of diverse literature, deepened self-reflection and empathy, and meaningful connections to classroom practice, thereby benefiting educators and their learners alike.

Teacher vacancies have been a long-standing issue in U.S. public schools, only made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic. Vacancies tend to be concentrated in high-poverty, high-minority schools and hard-to-staff subjects like special education and STEM. States have implemented various policies to decrease turnover, including offering teachers bonuses and salary increases. We study one of these policies, a return-to-work policy in North Carolina from 1999-2009, that allowed retired teachers to return to work full-time, earning both their full-time salary and pension benefits concurrently--often resulting in as much as 50% more income than a typical full-time teacher. We document policy take-up and characterize which teachers returned and what schools hired them. The main take-away is that retirees indeed returned under this policy and that high-need schools were disproportionately the ones that hired them.

Educators' rhetorical skills are pivotal in virtual collaboration between teachers and parents, enhancing communication clarity and overcoming cultural barriers, thereby enriching educational experience and fostering intercultural understanding. A review of scientific databases such as Academic Search Complete, ERIC, SCOPUS, and Web of Science, was conducted to identify peer-reviewed articles from 2018 onwards that explore the role of rhetoric in teacher virtual exchanges. Articles were analysed for themes, findings, biases, and research gaps. A notable finding is the lack of research on rhetoric in virtual teacher exchanges, despite its potential to overcome cultural barriers and enhance collaboration. The study reveals that effective rhetorical techniques can improve clarity, persuasiveness, and intercultural understanding in virtual exchanges, indicating a need for more research and educational programs in this area. Furthermore, the study extends to virtual communication between teachers and parents, especially with non-native speakers or those with limited proficiency in the official language. This highlights the need for teachers to use sophisticated rhetorical strategies in diverse linguistic situations to improve understanding and involvement. In summary, the research underscores the significant impact of rhetorical skills in virtual teacher exchanges, with broader implications for global collaboration and intercultural understanding in the educational sphere.

Exclusionary disciplinary practices negatively and disproportionately impact Black students academically, socially, and emotionally and have been attributed to the school-to-prison pipeline. This research was conducted to determine the impact of restorative justice practices on exclusionary discipline by evaluating the lived experiences of school leaders and teachers. The findings of this research determined that restorative justice practices can effectively interrupt the over-suspension and expulsion of Black students if implemented as a practice as opposed to a program. Additionally, the following barriers to implementation were identified through this study: time, mindset, lack of resources, and professional development and involvement of all stakeholders. Critical race theory and labeling theory were the theoretical lenses through which this research was conducted. Sixteen school leaders and teachers were interviewed using Zoom. Interviews were transcribed and coded to identify themes. Through this research, some of the barriers to implementing restorative justice practices were identified based on the lived experiences of school leaders and teachers. Additionally, this study identified how restorative justice practices can impact exclusionary disciplinary practices. From the results emerged the following themes and subthemes: sense of community; school avoidance; negative impact on learning and growth; restorative circles as prevention and healing; developing communication and building relationships; shift in school culture; training and resources; times; mindset and stakeholder involvement. Based on the results of this study, three recommendations were made for future research. A qualitative study can be done comparing and contrasting the lived experiences of Black girls at schools that implement restorative justice practices and schools that do not. Another suggestion for future research would entail a qualitative study that requires engaging in a restorative circle as a participant observer. The third recommendation would be a mixed methods study evaluating the effectiveness of the Restore and Heal Wheel on various elements of school culture.

Professional teaching knowledge interferes with the planning and development of classes, which also relates to integrating digital technologies in the classroom. This study aimed to understand and discuss teachers' professional knowledge for teaching mathematics with digital technologies. The methodology of this systematic literature review was composed of selecting 42 scientific articles in the ERIC, Latindex, Scopus, Scielo, and Web of Science databases and vertical and horizontal analyses of the indicated studies. The results suggest that the studies have similar structures with similar theoretical frameworks, objectives, and methodological procedures, identifying and classifying teacher professional knowledge based on knowledge achieved or that still needs to be developed. The teachers mobilize their knowledge by recognizing the potential of digitaltechnologies forteaching mathematics critically and reflectively.

Technology integration is regarded as a crucial and complex endeavour to enhance students' learning and prepare them to participate in a digital society. Although the research landscape on teachers' technology integration is vivid and stimulating, an analytical model which synthesises different strands of research to model antecedents (i.e., teachers' professional competences), processes and outcomes of technology integration in an integrated manner is missing. That said, previous research was often rather product-oriented and ignored potential effects on students' learning processes and their achievement. To fill this gap, in this paper, we outline a preliminary model, the TPTI-model (teachers' professional competence for technology integration), in which we deliberately link different research perspectives on teachers' professional competences, professional vision and students' learning (processes) to model technology integration during teaching. Based on the preliminary TPTI-model, we propose future research directions, which may allow to gain a better understanding of the teacher- and student-related conditions as well as processes of technology integration and their effects on students' learning.

It is well known that a quality teacher education is necessary for qualified education. Teachers must be well-trained in multiple areas and have an open-minded structure. They must develop strategies based on the lesson and students, which needs effective material development and use. The materials to be used could be prepared by others and can be incorporated into the classroom setting or teachers could design and present them to students, which is essential for the quality of instruction. When a teacher creates and effectively employs instructional materials, his/her self-confidence will increase and teaching will be enriched and made easier. Comics is one of those materials enriching classroom. This study seeks to elucidate the perspectives and experiences of teachers who took course "The Use of Comics in Social Studies Education" on generating comics as educational materials. The instructor of the relevant course designed and implemented it for the first time in 2019. This is the first and only course of its kind in Turkey. It is an elective graduate course at Yildiz Technical University Faculty of Education, Istanbul, Turkey. The purpose of the courses is to introduce comics, explain the use of comics as an educational resource, and enhance the professional skills and competencies of teachers and teacher candidates. In this study, teachers who completed the course at the master's level were examined. The study group consisted of twelve social studies teachers who took the course between 2019 and 2022, when it was offered for the first time. As a qualitative study, interviews were utilised to collect the data, then analysed through content analysis. The research revealed that the course "The Use of Comics in Social Studies Education" contributed positively to the academic and professional experiences of teachers. It has been determined that comics, as a medium, had positive effects on the professional experience of the participants, such as increasing student motivation, enabling learning while having fun, facilitating permanent learning, contributing to the development of empathy skills, and encouraging the formation of reading habits.

As a formative assessment procedure, self-assessment aims to converge learners' and teachers' views in assessment. Hence, reducing the perceptual mismatches between the learners' and the teachers' assessments would positively affect the learning process. For this aim, the present study investigated to what extent the learners' assessment of their writing before and after being provided with a list of rating criteria, agrees with that of their teachers. Therefore, a body of six EFL writing teachers and 27 EFL learners participated in this study. The learners were asked to rate their writing before and after receiving the rating criteria developed by the researchers. The teachers also rated the students' writings following the same criteria. The obtained results showed a significant difference between the students' scores on the first and second assessment occasions. The teachers' and the students' assessments on the second time also were found to significantly correlate. Moreover, the analysis of the students' comments showed that while they rated their writing on some limited aspects of writing in the first rating occasion, they assessed their essays using more components in the second assessment phase. Overall, the findings revealed that providing the learners with rating criteria would not only reduce the perceptual mismatches between the students' and the teachers' assessment but promote a more democratic classroom assessment. The findings of the study reduce the complexity of self-assessment practice by narrowing the perceptual gap between the students and the teachers.

Creative drama encompasses two primary learning objectives: the internalization of democratic values and the cultivation of advanced communication skills. To foster these attributes in individuals through creative drama education, it is imperative that the educators themselves possess these skills. This research pursues a dual objective: firstly, it delves into the communication skills and democratic attitudes of creative drama educators, considering various influencing factors. Subsequently, it explores the correlation between communication skills and democratic attitudes. The study included 143 creative drama educators from 18 cities in Turkey. Various statistical analyses, including independent samples t-tests, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis, were employed. The findings reveal that the gender and years of experience of drama educators are not significantly linked to their democratic attitudes or communication skills. However, the faculty that they are graduated from significantly impacts both their communication skills and democratic attitudes. Finally, the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis demonstrates a significant and positive relationship between the communication skills and democratic attitudes of creative drama educators.

This study aimed to determine the experiences of gifted children with autism spectrum disorder, their parents, and teachers with the COVID-19 pandemic and holistically reveal the reflections of the restrictions in this process and the transition to distance education on the lives and especially the education of gifted children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study was designed with a phenomenological research design, one of the qualitative research methods. The study participants were gifted children with ASD, aged between 6-14 and continuing their education through inclusion, their parents and teachers. The research data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed in detail by interpretive phenomenological analysis. As a result of the data analysis, two themes, "The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on life" and "Distance education and its impacts in the COVID-19 process", and 12 categories were reached. Recommendations were presented in line with the study findings and the literature.

Appraisal processes are a requirement for professionals working in the education sector. Often appraisal processes do not focus on strengths, rather, it becomes a process of meeting pre-determined requirements. This article takes a strength-based approach to appraisal and discusses a study which pilots the use of an Appreciative Growth Cycle process. The study focused on the growth of future professional practice within an organisational team. An Appreciative Inquiry methodology (Cooperrider & Srivastva, 1987) guided the study. The purpose of the study was to trial the feasibility and application of the Appreciative Growth Cycle process for its possible use across a wider organisational context. The research question therefore that drove the study was: In what ways might the use of an Appreciative Growth Cycle process be applied within a wider organisational context?

The proposed research aimed to examine abusive leadership and workplace ostracism as predictors of employee silence among school teachers in Sargodha, Pakistan. Studies further tend to examine the moderating role of power distance. Purposive sampling was employed to acquire the data. The research variables were quantified using the Abusive Supervision Scale (Mitchell & Ambrose, 2007), Workplace Exclusion Scale (Hitlan & Noel, 2009), Silence Scale (Van Dyne et al., 2003) and Power Distance Scale (Dorfman & Howell, 1988). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between abusive leadership, workplace ostracism, employee silence, and power distance. Results showed that abusive leadership, ostracism, silence, and power distance have a positive relationship with each other. The findings of linear regression revealed that abusive leadership, ostracism and power distance positively predicted employee silence. Moderation analysis revealed that power distance significantly moderated the relationship of abusive leadership and workplace ostracism with employee silence. The proposed research provides some recommendations and conclusions for future researchers who may be interested in examining the abuse that teachers experience in a high-power-distance culture that compels them to act silently.

Collective efficacy is the perception of a group of people to have the ability to achieve a common goal. As we explore self-efficacy and collective efficacy in schools, a question remains as to how school counselors, principals, and teachers can increase collective efficacy and foster a positive school climate to support all PK-12 students' needs. We sought to explore school counselor-principal-teacher collective efficacy and perceptions of school counselors' participation in leadership roles to guide comprehensive school counseling programs. Our results inform the acute need for pre-service and in-service training to better support each other and meet PK-12 students' needs.

Various studies have shown that epistemological beliefs affect personal learning and teaching performances. Therefore, epistemological beliefs have become an attractive object of research with different methods of survey. A distinction can be made between denotative and connotative aspects of beliefs, the former being reflected upon, explicit beliefs, whereas the latter being associative and evaluative judgements on (in our case: mathematical) epistemological beliefs. The present study used the instrument Connotative Aspects of Epistemological Beliefs by Stahl and Bromme to collect data from university students in mathematics in the years of 2017, 2018 and 2019. The pseudo-longitudinal data analysis showed 1. that students hold different connotative beliefs regarding the two domains "mathematics at university" and "mathematics at school" regardless their study progress, 2. that the beliefs remain relatively stable within the domains overtime and 3. that -- considering the different mathematical programmes of study (e.g., pre-service teachers vs. mathematics majors) -- the students' connotative beliefs mainly differ regarding beliefs about the simplicity of mathematical knowledge at school.

Error management culture and withdrawal behaviors can be related within the framework of job satisfaction. While job satisfaction is affected by error management culture, it affects withdrawal behaviors. On the other hand, each school has its own culture and teachers' perceptions can be differentiated in terms of school level. This study examined teachers' perception of error management culture and psychological withdrawal behaviors in terms of school level and determined the relationship between them. It was conducted with a correlational research model. The data was collected from a total of 440 teachers working in public schools in Türkiye, selected by convenient sampling. To determine teachers' views on error management culture and psychological withdrawal behaviors, the "Error Management Culture Scale in Schools" and the "Psychological Withdrawal Behaviors Scale" were used. The findings reveal that according to the school level variable, teachers' perceptions of error management culture and psychological withdrawal behaviors in schools differ significantly. The results of error management culture and psychological withdrawal were against the teachers working in upper secondary schools. There is a low-level, negative significant relationship between error management culture and psychological withdrawal behaviors. The results suggest that school culture under which school principals practise constructive error management relates to teachers' withdrawal behaviors. Thus, this study may advance theory and practice on the relation between error management culture and withdrawal behaviors, which are crucial determinant of teachers' satisfaction.

This study aims to understand the effectiveness of online training for pre-service and in-service teachers by exploring any differences between pre-service and in-service teachers' satisfaction and learning following an online professional training video. Additionally, the study focused on evaluating any differences in satisfaction and learning of pre-service and in-service teachers based on age, experience, subject taught, and grade level, as well as nationality. An online 20-minute video session was shown to the participants and a survey questionnaire, based on the Kirkpatrick Model, was used to explore their reactions and learning. The study employed Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) with independent sample t-test and ANOVA techniques to compare the training outcomes in pre-service and in-service teachers' satisfaction and learning. The results showed that the teachers were highly satisfied with the video assessment, content, and content structure. Moreover, there was no significant difference found in satisfaction levels or learning between in-service and pre-service teachers. Furthermore, no impact of age, experience, grade taught, or subject taught was found, though nationality was found to impact satisfaction with the video. The study recommends the expansion of similar online professional development programs, considering the high levels of satisfaction among pre-service and in-service teachers alike. Personalization of content to accommodate diverse learner needs, learning preferences, and backgrounds is suggested to further enhance satisfaction and learning outcomes. Lastly, this study's findings emphasize the need to improve teacher training programs, especially in different geographic and cultural contexts, to increase teaching efficacy and address the unique challenges teachers face.

This article aims to adapt the Flexible Thinking in Learning (FTL) scale developed by Barak and Levenberg in 2016 to Turkish culture The FTL scale, whose original language is English, consists of three sub-dimensions: "Acceptance of Learning Technologies", "OpenMindedness in Learning" and "Adaptation to New Learning Situations". During the process, language and field experts conducted mutual translations between English and Turkish to assess the language equivalence of the scale. The original scale was supplied to English teachers to measure the degree of similarity between the original language (English version) and the translated language (Turkish version). After a fifteen-day interval, the same teachers were given the adapted version of the scale. The degree of similarity between the scale's original language and its Turkish translation was calculated. Once the scale's harmony was deemed satisfactory in both languages, a pilot study was conducted to receive feedback and suggestions on the comprehensibility, applicability, and general structure of the scale. After necessary improvements were made, the scale was finalized. The Flexible Thinking in Learning (FTL) scale, which was adapted to Turkish, was applied to 516 volunteer teachers. As per the findings of the analysis, the adapted scale has three sub-dimensions, just like the original scale. The measured structure of the adapted scale was found to be consistent with the original scale's factor structure.

Recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have brought society closer to the long-held dream of creating machines to help with both common and complex tasks and functions. From recommending movies to detecting disease in its earliest stages, AI has become an aspect of daily life many people accept without scrutiny. Despite its functionality and promise, AI has inherent security risks that users should understand and programmers must be trained to address. The ICE (integrity, confidentiality, and equity) cybersecurity labs developed by a team of cybersecurity researchers addresses these vulnerabilities to AI models through a series of hands-on, inquiry-based labs. Through experimenting with and manipulating data models, students can experience firsthand how adversarial samples and bias can degrade the integrity, confidentiality, and equity of deep learning neural networks, as well as implement security measures to mitigate these vulnerabilities. This article addresses the pedagogical approach underpinning the ICE labs, and discusses both sample activities and technological considerations for teachers who want to implement these labs with their students.

In this study we explore the longitudinal impact of effective school factors on student achievement over a five-year period in an urban school district. By collecting teacher survey data from urban schools in a Midwest school district and analyzing the survey data alongside student achievement, we identified several factors associated with student achievement growth. Our findings reveal that Shared Vision and Goals is positively associated with student achievement growth in math and reading. Furthermore, Student Behavior Expectations and Behavior Management Practices are positively associated with growth in reading achievement. Our research contributes to the understanding of effective school factors from a longitudinal perspective, particularly in an urban school setting.

Teachers play a critical role in school mental health. They aid in the identification and referral of students in need of mental health services and are key players in implementing interventions. Nevertheless, teachers often lack the education and training needed to support youths' mental health. Increasing teachers' mental health literacy (MHL) is recognized as a needed area of focus in improving systems' responses to youths' mental health needs, yet no current tools assess teachers' complete MHL. A measure of MHL for in-service teachers based on current conceptualizations of MHL in the context of schools was developed and tested. The 24-item scale was tested in a sample of 407 full-time teachers in the United States and initial psychometric testing supports its use. The analytic strategy included an exploratory factor analysis (EFA), reliability analysis via Cronbach's a, and convergent validity analysis via zero-order correlations between the Teachers' MHL Scale and theoretically linked constructs. The final scale includes four subscales that measure teachers' understanding of how to promote well-being, recognize potential problems, link students in need to appropriate resources, and the link between well-being and school success. The underlying theory supporting the tool's development and suggestions for its use are discussed.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are increasingly popular for teachers' professional development (PD). Understanding why teachers take MOOCs and how this relates to course completion could help identify underserved needs in teachers' professional learning. In the current study, we explored this question, as well as potential gaps between intention to complete the course and actual completion. Using a sample of 3,212 participants in four PD MOOCs, we applied topic modeling to open-ended and Likert-style data to identify teachers' motivations. The results show that most participants had intrinsic or professional motivations, but a subgroup of participants had prosocial motivations, namely, they wanted to support their students. In a set of logistic regression predicting course completion, we found that participants with intrinsic motivations were less likely to complete a course and participants with prosocial motivations were more likely to do so even after controlling for their initial intention. Our study contributes to the field by, first, identifying an underexplored group of learners, the prosocial learners. More research is needed to better understand this group. We also found that among teachers taking MOOCs, intrinsic motivations were associated with lower levels of engagement, contrary to findings in other populations, making a contribution to motivation theory as well as online learning practice. We concluded that the motivation-engagement relationship is more complex than previously thought, and recommend researchers continue examining this association to understand this discrepancy. Finally, we suggest practitioners take learners' a-priori motivations into account when designing MOOCs, as these could be important for course engagement.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has threatened higher education (HE). In doing so it has granted a portal that makes visible the dominant paradigm that has long defined what "intelligence" is and the narrow set of knowledges and literacies sanctioned for its pursuit. In this paper, we orient our thinking from this clarifying moment, asking: beyond these limits, what intelligences should educators value and nurture for sustainable and anti-colonial futures, and how might we support these through educational practices in HE? We also pause to reflect on the ways in which AI might move learners' pursuits of intelligence in more expansive directions. This orientation, we argue, provides a means to unsettle the hierarchies of intelligence that we live with/out, and a pathway to (re)direct AI's potential toward just and hopeful ends.
