Abstract

A coupled physical and biological model was used to investigate the biological and physical mechanisms that control the primary production and plankton patches near the coast and within the low-salinity frontal zone in the near Louisiana-Texas (LATEX) shelf. The model showed that the tidal mixing was too weak to make a significant contribution to the basic distribution of biological production within the frontal zone over the inner LATEX shelf.
