Abstract

ZnO nanorods (NRs) and nanotubes (NTs) are synthesized by a hydrothermal method on Si substrates that was precoated by pulsed laser decomposition (PLD) with a thin ZnO film. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy and selected area electron diffraction analysis confirms that the NTs are ZnO single crystals and that their growth direction is along [0001], the c-axis.

Abstract

The plume of ejected material accompanying pulsed laser ablation of a zinc oxide (ZnO) target at 193 nm in vacuum is investigated using wavelength and spatially resolved optical emission spectroscopy and Langmuir probes. The investigation provides information on the nature of the ejected particles, their propagation velocities, and their mechanistic origins.
