Abstract

A study for the purpose of estimating the actual extent of cognitive decline in the old old has been carried out over a period of 9 years in 2,106 subjects using a brief measure and adjusting for attrition. It was found that cognitive decline in the very old has been underestimated considerably by longitudinal studies.
