Research documents the nucleotide sequences of open reading frames that code for the agr quorum-sensing and signal transduction region in Staphylococcus species. Data indicate that considerable genetic variation in agr loci exists in terms of sequences. The mechanism underlying agr diversity is discussed.

Two opposite shedding trends are apparent for the milk and vaginal-fecal routes and the studies have showed that a nonnegligible proportion of seronegative animals that delivered normally could excrete Coxiella burnetti.

The genetic diversity of Cylindrospermopsis strains was examined using mainly the 16S-23S internally transcribed spacer sequences. The result suggested that spread of Cylindrospermopsis across the American and European continents from restricted warm refuge areas instead of exchanges between continents.
