Abstract

Iron disilicide based thermoelectric materials Fe0.92Mn0.08Si(Sub x)(1.9 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 2.5) were prepared by rapid solidification (melt spinning) and hot uniaxial pressing at 1248 K with 50 MPa for 30 min, followed by annealing at 1073 K for 20 h. A maximum figure of merit, ZT=0.17, was obtained for Fe0.92Mn0.08Si2.0 at 973 K.

Abstract

Highly faceted ZnO rods with 18 side surfaces were prepared and their optical properties were examined. The low-temperature photoluminescence spectrum showed dominance of a donor bound exciton transition and at room temperature, both UV and green emissions associated with defects were observed, in spite of this long decay times of spontaneous emission were obtained indicating excellent crystal quality.
