Abstract

A retrospective assessment of the impact of Tsar Alexander I's sojourn to England in Jun. 1814 is presented. While the Russian ruler's visit did not yield major and long-term diplomatic and commercial successes, it nonetheless facilitated the resolution of several issues plaguing the two countries, as well as the forging of close economic ties between the UK and Russia.
