Abstract

Discussing the magneto-optical (MO) studies of the critical states in a c-axis oriented MgB2 thin film with J (sub c) of 6 MA/cm (super 2) at 5 K and self-field, and the bulk MgB2/Mg nano-composites with J (sub c) over 1 MA/cm (super 2) at 5 K and self-field. We also found the MO observations of both the thin film and the composite MgB2 superconductors are in good agreement with a separate bulk magnetization measurement conducted on the same specimens.

Studying the advanced dielectric resonator techniques, the microwave surface impedance has been determined for c-axis oriented MgB2 thin film is discussed. The residual surface resistance represents an important figure-of-merit for progress in MgB2 thin film preparation is concluded.

Abstract

Describing the effects of audio-frequency magnetic fields on the magnetic response of MgB2 thin films, emphasizing its corresponding effects on the critical current of the specimens is studied. The observed depression on the critical current, due to the application of small Ac magnetic fields, implies some possible restrictions in applications of thin films of MgB2 in devices using AC excitations.
