Mn-doped [Bi.sub.4][Ti.sub.3][O.sub.12] (M-[B.sub.4][T.sub.3]) films are formed on a TiN/Si[O.sub.2]/Si substrate without buckling by using radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering. The M-[B.sub.4][T.sub.3] thin grown on a TiN/Si[O.sub.2]/Si substrate is shown to be a good candidate material for high performance, radio frequency metal-insulator-metal capacitors.

Results show that gas-phase reactions between ammonia and group-III sources affect Al concentration and AlGaN growth rate. Data further show that growth interruption influence the optical quality of GaN/AlGaN single quantum well structures.

The water-based magnetic fluids with nanometric Cu(sub x)Fe(sub 1-x)OFe2O3 particles were prepared by the two-step method, where the copper element, which is useful in tumor therapy, was coprecipitated with Fe(super 2+) and Fe(super 3+). The results showed that the magnetization of the magnetic particles decreased with increasing contents of diamagnetic copper element.

The structural and optical properties of 3 ML InAs quantum dots (QDs) were investigated with the help of transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Abnormal behavior is observed in PL spectra of shape-engineered QDs that are subjected to rapid thermal annealing, compared to those of conventionally grown InAs QDs.
