Abstract

The investigation of the He(I) photoelectron spectra of the bicycle(8.1.0)undec-1(10)-en-5-yn-11-one and two related compounds reveals a considerable interaction between the triple bond's pi-system and cyclopropenone moiety in the first compound, but only a small or no interaction in the related compounds. The boat-like conformation of the solid-state 10-membered ring is primarily responsible for the interaction in the first compound.
