The number of stocks affected by profit upgradings and downgradings has risen steadily over the last three months, with the chemicals sector, for example, suffering as as brokers reduce their estimates. Analysts remain more attracted to the banking sector, with all brokers upgrading their estimates for The Royal Bank of Scotland, for example. Analysts increased their estimates for both the Argos catalogue store and MFI Furniture, but food retailing stocks have seen difficult market conditions, with some reconsidering their property valuations.
