Abstract

The first clear single molecular scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) images of the decamer and the pentamer rings in a series of the coordination-assembled porphyrin macrorings is reported. Single molecular STM images of the coordination-assembled porphyrin macrocycles deposited in a metal surface by the pulse injection method are observed.

Abstract

Ferrocene-bridged trisporphyrin is synthesized by two-steps condensation of corresponding aldehydes and dipyrromethanes. Its self-assembling behavior based on the complementary coordination motif of imidazolylporphyrinatozinc(II) is investigated in conjunction with hinge-like flexibility given by freely rotating cyclopentadienyl rings of ferrocene connector.
