Abstract

Cell-type specific targeting of latent transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) to smooth muscle cells stimulates latent TGF-beta during co-culture of smooth muscle and endothelial cells. Latency-associated peptide (LAP) regulates the targeting of latent TGF-beta to smooth muscle cells. Removal of cellular-targeting of LTGF-beta with a mAb against LAP restricts stimulation of latent TGF-beta during co-culture.
