Abstract

The fast flow discharge technique is used to measure absolute rate coefficients for the gas-phase reactions of ground state oxygen atoms with C[Cl.sub.2]=C[H.sub.2] (1), CHCl=CHCl (2) and C[Cl.sub.2]=C[Cl.sub.2] (3). All the rate coefficients were found to display a positive temperature dependence and pressure independence, which indicates the importance of the irreversibility of the addition mechanism for these reactions.
