Research has been conducted on the diphosphine ligands with symmetric bulky substituents at the stereogenic P atom. The preparation of these ligands carried out via the use of the chiral synthons and via the dimethylarylphosphine boranes' enantioselective deprotonation is described.

Research points out that simple amino acids can be used as ligands in the ruthenium(II)-catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of aryl alkyl ketones. The bicyclic beta-amino alcohols are obtained by simple aza-Diels-Alder adduct formation between cyclopentadiene and iminium ion and adduct's subsequent reduction.

The development of an enantioselective manufacturing process of (S)-metolachlor, the active ingredient of the grass herbicide Dual Magnum is presented. The strategies and approaches used for the development are discussed.
