Abstract

The highly enantioselective Michael addition of malonates to [alpha],[beta]-unsaturated ketones in water is described to be catalyzed by a primary-secondary diamine catalyst containing a long alkyl chain. The asymmetric Michael addition process has effective for a variety of [alpha],[beta]-unsaturated ketones.
