Abstract

C-H bond activation by transient organometallic species is studied in a series of linear, cyclic and aromatic solvents on a femtosecond to microsecond time scale. The results show that the structure of hydrocarbon substrate affects the final C-H bond activation step and in case of aromatic C-H activation the reaction is divided into parallel channels.
