Abstract

A methodology consisting of X-ray diffraction, polarizing optical microscopy, as well as a differential scanning calorimetry is used to study the noncovalent interactions between the self-organizing polybases, which are neutralized by adding mesogenic wedge-shaped sulfonic acid molecules to them. The results reveal the presence of an extremely dynamic and stable bond, which can be further used for the synthesis of highly oriented conductive fibers and several other supramolecular cylinders.
