"A striking example of Gordon-Michael Scallion's 2002 doomsday map of North America. Scallion' (1942 -?) Is a ,futurist, spiritualist,,and 'prophet' who predicted a series of cataclysmic astronomical and seismic events would occur between the Issue date of this map, 2002, and 2012. This map offers an exceptionally granular breakdown of Scallion's predictions for the United States and a newly extended timeline - It Is somewhat revisionary, issued one year after his earlier maps predicted these events would come to pass. The map describes itself as 'North America' though it is decidedly U.S.-centric, including only adjacent parts of Canada and Mexico. It presents a topographical map of the region overlayed with contemporaneous political boundaries and Scallion's predictions. These include three major seismic upheavals causing 'fractures' which, over the decade, would inundate most of the American West, including the Rocky Mountains. An earlier version of this chart was published in London by John Dower with "Leonard's" (for C.W. Leonard) in place of this copy's "Bacon's." The content of both charts is the same. "This impressive historical arrangement (is) a fascinating mix of maps, family trees, and tables of information provides a wealth of detail on various elements of the Old and New Testaments. The central image shows the Voyages and Travels of St. Paul across the Mediterranean, while two insets in the lower corners outline the Twelve Tribes of Canaan and the Journeys of the Israelites. The crisply designed maps label a variety of historic sites (often with Biblical references), geographic features, and major settlements. Several annotations provide further ancient and contemporary context, with one notable example in the Sahara Desert reading “This part of Africa is very little known to Europeans.” Genealogical diagrams in the forms of literal trees are provided for the families of Jacob, Jeroboam and the Kings of Israel, and the Kings of Judah. Concentric borders offer additional information in the form of summaries of books of the Bible, a timeline of the creation of the world (begin inning in 4004 B.C.), and particulars of Jewish beliefs and traditions (including a conversion for weights and measures)." "“This Map and Guide covers the new municipal area of metropolitan Jerusalem (since the end of June 1967), incorporating the main changes. The Historic Sites and other Highlights are marked in red. They are listed and can be located through the Marginal Indexes. Most of them are itemized on the map proper, while others are named in alphabetical order in the marginal lists…A Guide to the Main Historic Sites and Highlights is given on the reverse side of the map.” [text, upper left]. This self-descriptive guide map of Jerusalem was issued locally by Jerusalem Publications, apparently shortly after the end of the Six-Day War in 1967. Dozens of locations of interest are labeled and identified in the accompanying index. An inset in the upper left shows details on the Old City, including approximate divisions of the four historic quarters (Armenian, Christian, Jewish, Muslim). "(Thematic) Guide To Correct Diet, Health, Happiness And Beauty, The Institute Of Mentalphysics, c. 1930 Edwin J. Dingle was a journalist born in Cornwall, but worked in Singapore and deep into China in the 1910's and 1920's. He was an early explorer of Tibetan spirituality and spent time at monastery studying meditation and breathing exercises from Tibetan monks. Dingle returned to the U.S. and settled in Oakland, CA., spending the next seven years in retreat presumably organizing his teachings based on vegetarianism, pranayama meditation, and developing extrasensory perception. Soon after he moved to Los Angeles and began teaching his approach at a church and began to codify his approach to diet. In this chart he points to twenty one different types, and what leading elements could address the issue through food. It strikes one as being a extrapolation of the theory of humors, but with sciency jargon. Rare." (Curtis Bird, 2022)

Date estimated., "A rare broadside, architected by an Armenian monk and official translator to the pope, Georgius Bagdadius Anteplius, represents a list of popes from St. Peter to Pope Pius VI (1717-1799), shaped in a form of a flower. The lower leaves bear the names of schismatic anti-Popes, wrapped with a string, engraved with biblical quotes. The broadside was dedicated to Cardinal Giovanni Battista Rezzonico (1740-1785), nephew of Pope Clement XIII (1693-1769). Georgius Bagdadius Anteplius Only little is known about Georgius Bagdadius Anteplius “Monachus Armenus”, who drafted the composition for the print and signed himself in the lower lines. His names suggest, that he was an Armenian monk, who previously lived in Antep, Turkey, and in Baghdad. From scarce printed sources, mentioning his name, we can conclude, that Georgius resided in the Armenian monastery of the Mekhitarists on the island San Lazzaro in Venice, before moving to Rome, where he became a “magister” at the Pontificio Collegio Urbano de Propaganda Fide (Pontifical Urban College for the Propagation of the Faith) and pope’s personal translator from Armenian. Possibly his work was mostly connected to translations of manuscripts. Georgius Bagdadius Anteplius was described as respectful and very knowledgeable in ecclesiastic history. Sources: “… Catechismum Romanum a Georgio Anteplio Armeno Monacho Congregationis Mechitarensis Sancti Lazari Amico nostro, Viro non solum idiomatis, sed & Ecclesiasticae Historiae, que ispius Nationem respicit, scientissimo”. (Giovanni Crisostomo Trombelli, Tractatus De Sacramentis Per Polemicas, Et Liturgicas Disserationes, Vol. 2, Bologna 1777, p. 228) „Georgius Bagdadius Anteply, Sacerdos Armenus, Summi Pontificis interpres Armenae linguae et in Collegio de Propaganda Fide magister“ in a connection with a 18th century translation from Armenian (Heinrich Denzinger, Ritus Orientalium, Coptorum, Syrorum et Armenorum in administrandis Sacramentis, 1864, p. 519). DATE AND NOTE ON RARITY The print can be dated between 1775, when Count Giovanni Angelo Braschi (1717-1799) became Pope Pius VI, and 1785, the year of the death of Cardinal Giovanni Battista Rezzonico. According to the portrait of the pope, showing Pius VI as a dark-haired man, the engraving was possibly made closer to 1775. We could not trace any activity of Georgius Bagdadius Anteplius after 1775, but all the information on the author are scarce, as mentioned above. We could only trace one example of the engraving (British Museum, print; chronology | British Museum), but could not find any references to the print in literature." "Rare separately published view of the Holy Land, published in Chicago by the Holy Land Publishing Company, with A. J. Marks noted as the copyright holder. The view includes approximately 300 points of interest and is the protype for George Cram's view of the Holy Land, which began appearing in his atlases in the early 1880s on a much reduced scale. We find a single reference to the original production of the map by the Holy Land Publishing Company in the 1878 January issue of The National Sunday School Teacher, noting that the view had been revised after receiving critiques and was now "as accurate as could be desired." Price: $2.00. The view is extremely rare. We locate a single example in the Library of Congress. Maps show political boundaries, cities, railways, roads, topography, bodies of water, glaciers, drainage, coastlines, islands, water depths and time zones. Topical maps feature other details, such as history, geology, climate, agriculture, population, racial demographics (including indigenous peoples), religion, language and transportation. Some maps use data visualization to further illustrate geographical information, with charts overlaid upon the landscape. "Adapted from "About The National Atlas of the United States of America," by the U.S. Geological Survey: The National Atlas of the United States of America was published in 1970. It was designed to be of practical use to decision makers in government and business, and for planners and research scholars as well as others needing to visualize country-wide distributional patterns and relationships between environmental phenomena and human activities. The National Atlas represents the principal characteristics of the country in 1970, including its physical features, historical evolution, economic activities, sociocultural conditions, administrative subdivisions, and place in world affairs. Various federal agencies, professional organizations, and commercial firms had advocated producing a National Atlas of the United States of America, but the magnitude of the task and the scope of the research required deterred those who would begin it. Late in 1954, the National Academy of Sciences-National Research Council established a Committee on the National Atlas of the United States, with representatives from several federal mapmaking agencies. The committee's primary responsibilities were to coordinate all federal agencies that would be involved in producing the atlas and to ensure uniform quality in its cartography. This proved to be a nearly impossible task, and consequently in 1961 the committee terminated itself. In so doing it recommended that the atlas be completed by one federal agency, preferably the Geological Survey in the U.S. Department of the Interior. In March of 1961, the Secretary of the Interior accepted the challenge. Congress appropriated funds to begin work on the National Atlas in 1963, and on reimbursable loan the Library of Congress made available the chief of its Geography and Map Division, Dr. Arch C. Gerlach, to serve as editor. Eighty-four agencies and bureaus appointed liaison officers to the National Atlas Project, base maps were prepared at four scales, and an advisory group of eminent cartographers and geographers collaborated to formulate fundamental design principles and specifications. The first part of the National Atlas is devoted to general reference maps that contain most of the forty-one thousand place names recorded in the index. These maps were included for the convenience of readers wanting basic locational information. In the thematic section of the National Atlas, separate subdivisions deal with the country's physical, historical, economic, and socio-cultural characteristics. The maps in this portion of the atlas represent the relationships between human beings and their environment while offering scientific bases for analyzing the nation's economic development in 1970. The National Atlas proved to be the last paper atlas of this magnitude produced by the federal government."
