Background: Nickel nanomaterials play an important role in biological applications, but they have high toxicity and poor biocompatibility. To overcome these defects, we coated the surface of Ni nanotubes with different thicknesses of SiO2 to reduce cytotoxicity, improve biocompatibility, and broaden their biological application value., Objective: This study aimed to construct Ni nanotubes with different thicknesses of SiO2 nanoshells; investigate the effects of silicon layer thickness, incubation time, and cell line category on the cytotoxicity of the as-synthesized materials, and evaluate the biocompatibility of the materials by biological enzymes. The Ni@SiO2-NH2 was selected for use as an adsorbent for the adsorption and purification of histidine-rich proteins, such as Bovine Hemoglobin (BHb)., Methods: Magnetic Ni nanotubes were prepared by the template-chemical deposition method. A modified version of the Stöber process was used for the SiO2 coating of Ni@SiO2 nanotubes, and adjusted by changing the volume of TEOS for different thicknesses of SiO2 nanoshells., Results: Different cell lines containing tumor cells and normal cells were used in the toxicity experiment, which confirmed the low cytotoxicity and good biocompatibility of Ni@SiO2. To achieve high efficiency of immobilization and purification of histidine- rich proteins, Ni@SiO2-NH2 was obtained by introducing the amino functional group. The Ni@SiO2-NH2 was found to possess lower cytotoxicity and higher adsorption capacity compared to other synthesized materials. In recent years, increased species extinction and habitat loss have significantly reduced biodiversity, posing a serious threat to both nature and human survival. Environmental factors strongly influence bird distribution and diversity. The potential distribution patterns and species richness offer a conservation modeling framework for policymakers to assess the effectiveness of natural protected areas (PAs) and optimize their existing ones. Very few such studies have been published that cover a large and complete taxonomic group with fine resolution at regional scale. Here, using birds as a study group, the maximum entropy model (MaxEnt) was used to analyze the pattern of bird species richness in Jiangsu Province. Using an unparalleled amount of occurrence data, we created species distribution models (SDMs) for 312 bird species to explore emerging diversity patterns at a resolution of 1 km 2 . The gradient of species richness is steep, decreasing sharply away from water bodies, particularly in the northern part of Jiangsu Province. The migratory status and feeding habits of birds also significantly influence the spatial distribution of avian species richness. This study reveals that the regions with high potential bird species richness are primarily distributed in three areas: the eastern coastal region, the surrounding area of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the surrounding area of Taihu Lake. Compared with species richness hotspots and existing PAs, we found that the majority of hotspots are well-protected. However, only a small portion of the regions, such as coastal areas of Sheyang County in Yancheng City, as well as some regions along the Yangtze River in Nanjing and Zhenjiang, currently have relatively weak protection. The perturbation of atmosphere turbulence is a significant challenge in orbital angular momentum shift keying-based free space optical communication (OAM-SK-FSO). In this study, we propose an adaptive optical demodulation system based on deep learning techniques. A conditional convolutional GAN (ccGAN) network is applied to recover the distorted intensity pattern and assign it to its specified class. Compared to existing methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs), our network demonstrates powerful capability in recovering the distorted light beam, resulting in a higher recognition accuracy rate under the same conditions. The average recognition accuracy rates are 0.9928, 0.9795 and 0.9490 when the atmospheric refractive index structure constant $C_n^2$ is set at 3 × 10 -13 , 4.45 × 10 -13 , 6 × 10 -13 m -2/3 , respectively. The ccGAN network provides a promising potential tool for free space optical communication.

Objectives: This research aimed to develop a radiomics-clinical nomogram based on enhanced thin-section CT radiomics and clinical features for the purpose of predicting the presence or absence of metastasis in lymph nodes among patients with resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC)., Methods: This study examined the data of 256 patients with ESCC, including 140 cases with lymph node metastasis. Clinical information was gathered for each case, and radiomics features were derived from thin-section contrast-enhanced CT with the help of a 3D slicer. To validate risk factors that are independent of the clinical and radiomics models, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator logistic regression analysis was used. A nomogram pattern was constructed based on the radiomics features and clinical characteristics. The receiver operating characteristic curve and Brier Score were used to evaluate the model's discriminatory ability, the calibration plot to evaluate the model's calibration, and the decision curve analysis to evaluate the model's clinical utility. The confusion matrix was used to evaluate the applicability of the model. To evaluate the efficacy of the model, 1000 rounds of 5-fold cross-validation were conducted., Results: The clinical model identified esophageal wall thickness and clinical T (cT) stage as independent risk factors, whereas the radiomics pattern was built based on 4 radiomics features chosen at random. Area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.684 and 0.701 are observed for the radiomics approach and clinical model, respectively. The AUC of nomogram combining radiomics and clinical features was 0.711. The calibration plot showed good agreement between the incidence of lymph node metastasis predicted by the nomogram and the actual probability of occurrence. The nomogram model displayed acceptable levels of performance. After 1000 rounds of 5-fold cross-validation, the AUC and Brier score had median values of 0.702 (IQR: 0.65, 7.49) and 0.21 (IQR: 0.20, 0.23), respectively. High-risk patients (risk point >110) were found to have an increased risk of lymph node metastasis [odds ratio (OR) = 5.15, 95% CI, 2.95-8.99] based on the risk categorization., Conclusion: A successful preoperative prediction performance for metastasis to the lymph nodes among patients with ESCC was demonstrated by the nomogram that incorporated CT radiomics, wall thickness, and cT stage., Advances in Knowledge: This study demonstrates a novel radiomics-clinical nomogram for lymph node metastasis prediction in ESCC, which helps physicians determine lymph node status preoperatively., (© The Author(s) 2024. The research on electron transfer coupled spin transition regulating the valence state and spin state transition of metal ions is promising and challenging. Herein, we report a cyano-bridged {FeIII2FeII2} molecular square complex, {[Fe(Tp)(CN) 3 ] 2 [Fe(bnbpen)] 2 }(ClO 4 ) 2 ·8CH 3 OH (1·8CH 3 OH, bnbpen = N , N '-bis-(2-naphthylmethyl)- N , N '-bis(2-picolayl)-ethylenediamine), and its free of solvents form (1). Combined single-crystal X-ray diffraction, temperature-dependent infrared (IR) spectra, magnetic measurements, and Mössbauer spectra reveal that 1·8CH 3 OH and 1 exhibit reversible one-step and two-step electron transfer coupled spin transition (ETCST) with temperature change, between the low-temperature state {Fe II,LS (μ-CN)Fe III,LS } 2 (LS = low spin, HS = high spin) and the high-temperature state {Fe III,LS (μ-CN)Fe II,HS } 2 , respectively.

As metal additive manufacturing (MAM) technology is booming in the aerospace sector, alternatives to the traditional production methods of metals such as mining, processing, and refining with severe emissions are urgently needed. This study proposed a closed-loop route for efficient recovery of molybdenum (Mo) and value-added reuse of tungsten (W) from Cr-Co-Ni-Mo-W alloy waste in MAM. The results showed that the leaching efficiency of Mo and W reached 99.3% and 99.9%, respectively, using the dual chemical-physical means of mixed-alkali roasting and leaching by microwave heating, while the discharge of waste liquor containing Cr 6+ was reduced. Leaching kinetic studies revealed that the metal leaching process was controlled by chemical reaction mechanism. Moreover, the 10%N1923 (primary amine)-5%TRPO (tri-alkyl phosphine oxide)-kerosene extraction system exhibited a synergistic extraction effect on Mo and W. After purification, Mo was recovered as Mo powder for MAM. Simultaneously, the recovered product of W, MnWO 4 , was applied as a photocatalytic material with excellent degradation of methylene blue dye. Background: Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus ) is the most common causative agent of burn wound infection, that often leads to high morbidity and mortality. However, there is not enough knowledge about the molecular epidemiology and antimicrobial susceptibility of S. aureus isolates from burn wound infections in Fujian, China., Methods: Between 2016 and 2021, 90 S. aureus isolates were collected from burn wound infections in Fujian, China, including 59 methicillin-resistant (MRSA) strains and 31 methicillin-susceptible (MSSA) strains. These were investigated for molecular characteristics, virulence genes, biofilms, and antimicrobial susceptibility. All the isolates were genotyped by multilocus sequence typing (MLST), spa typing, agr typing, and SCC mec typing. Conventional PCR was performed for the detection of virulence genes. Biofilm formation capacity was assessed by tissue culture plate assay (TCP). The antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates was evaluated using the dilution method., Results: In total, 37 sequence types (ST) and 34 Staphylococcal protein A ( spa ) types (including a new type named spa -t20720) were identified based on multilocus sequence typing (MLST) and spa typing, respectively. CC8-ST239-t030- agr I-SCC mec III (57.6%,34/59) and CC7-ST7-t091- agr I (16.1%, 5/31) represented the main clone of MRSA and MSSA isolates, respectively. Antibiotic susceptibility testing identified a significant difference in resistance rates between ST239 and non-ST239 isolates ( p  < 0.05). Twelve virulence genes were detected, of which the most common were icaA and icaD (both 100%), followed by icaB and icaC (both 96.7%), icaR (95.6%), lukED (81.1%), lukAB (62.2%), pvl (50%), hlgBC (26.7%), and eta (4.4%). Moreover, lukAB , hlgBC , agr I, and agr III were significantly correlated with burn severity ( p  < 0.05). MRSA isolates were less likely, compared with MSSA isolates, to carry pvl , lukAB, and hlgBC ( p  < 0.05). A new spa type, t20720, was identified that contains pvl , lukED , lukAB , hlgBC , icaA , icaB , icaC , icaD, and icaR genes and has strong biofilm formation ability., Conclusion: CC8-ST239-t030- agr I-SCC mec III and CC7-ST-7-t091- agr I were the prevalent molecular signatures of MRSA and MSSA isolates from burn wound infections in Fujian, China, respectively. Organothiophosphate pesticides (OPPs) are the most common water contaminants, significantly endangering human health and bringing serious public safety issues. Thus, developing effective technologies for the removal or trace detection of OPPs from water is urgent. Herein, a novel graphene-based silica-coated core-shell tubular magnetic nanocomposite (Ni@SiO 2 -G) was fabricated for the first time and used for the efficient magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) of the OPPs chlorpyrifos, diazinon, and fenitrothion from environmental water. The experimental factors affecting extraction efficiency such as adsorbent dosage, extraction time, desorption solvent, desorption mode, desorption time, and adsorbent type were evaluated. The synthesized Ni@SiO 2 -G nanocomposites showed a higher preconcentration capacity than the Ni nanotubes, Ni@SiO 2 nanotubes, and graphene. Under the optimized conditions, 5 mg of tubular nano-adsorbent displayed good linearity within the range of 0.1-1 μg·mL -1 , low limits of detection (0.04-0.25 pg·mL -1 ), low limits of quantification (0.132-0.834 pg·mL -1 ), good reusability (n = 5; relative standard deviations between 1.46% and 9.65%), low dosage (5 mg), and low real detection concentration (< 3.0 ng·mL -1 ). Moreover, the possible interaction mechanism was investigated by density functional theory calculation. Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the leading cause of heart transplantation. By microRNA (miRNA) array, a Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV)-encoded miRNA, kshv-miR-K12-1-5p, was detected in patients with DCM. The KSHV DNA load and kshv-miR-K12-1-5p level in plasma from 696 patients with DCM were measured and these patients were followed-up. Increased KSHV seropositivity and quantitative titers were found in the patients with DCM compared with the non-DCM group (22.0% versus 9.1%, p < 0.05; 168 versus 14 copies/mL plasma, p < 0.05). The risk of the individual end point of death from cardiovascular causes or heart transplantation was increased among DCM patients with the KSHV DNA seropositivity during follow-up (adjusted hazard ratio 1.38, 95% confidence interval 1.01-1.90; p < 0.05). In heart tissues, the KSHV DNA load was also increased in the heart from patients with DCM in comparison with healthy donors (1016 versus 29 copies/10 5 cells, p < 0.05). The KSHV and kshv-miR-K12-1-5p in DCM hearts were detected using immunofluorescence and fluorescence staining in situ hybridization. KSHV itself was exclusively detectable in CD31-positive endothelium, while kshv-miR-K12-1-5p could be detected in both endothelium and cardiomyocytes. Moreover, kshv-miR-K12-1-5p released by KSHV-infected cardiac endothelium could disrupt the type I interferon signaling pathway in cardiomyocytes. Two models of kshv-miR-K12-1-5p overexpression (agomiR and recombinant adeno-associated virus) were used to explore the roles of KSHV-encoded miRNA in vivo. The kshv-miR-K12-1-5p aggravated known cardiotropic viruses-induced cardiac dysfunction and inflammatory infiltration. Contaminants are the critical targets of food safety supervision and risk assessment. In existing research, food safety knowledge graphs are used to improve the efficiency of supervision since they supply the relationship between contaminants and foods. Entity relationship extraction is one of the crucial technologies of knowledge graph construction. However, this technology still faces the issue of single entity overlap. This means that a head entity in a text description may have multiple corresponding tail entities with different relationships. To address this issue, this work proposes a pipeline model with neural networks for multiple relations enhanced entity pairs extraction. The proposed model can predict the correct entity pairs in terms of specific relations by introducing the semantic interaction between relation identification and entity extraction. We conducted various experiments on our own dataset FC and on the open public available data set DuIE2.0. The results of experiments show our model reaches the state-of-the-art, and the case study indicates our model can correctly extract entity-relationship triplets to release the problem of single entity overlap.

Background: Conditional survival (CS) is defined as the possibility of further survival after patients have survived for several years since diagnosis. This may be highly valuable for real-time prognostic monitoring, especially when considering individualized factors. Such prediction tools were lacking for non-metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Therefore, this study estimated CS and developed a novel CS-nomogram for real-time prediction of 10-year survival., Methods: We recruited 32,836 non-metastatic TNBC patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (2010-2019), who were divided into training and validation groups according to a 7:3 ratio. The Kaplan-Meier method estimated overall survival (OS), and the CS was calculated using the formula CS(y|x) =OS(y+x)/OS(x), where OS(x) and OS(y+x) were the survival of x- and (x+y)-years, respectively. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression identified predictors to develop the CS-nomogram., Results: CS analysis reported gradual improvement in real-time survival over time since diagnosis, with 10-year OS updated annually from an initial 69.9% to 72.8%, 78.1%, 83.0%, 87.0%, 90.3%, 93.0%, 95.0%, 97.0%, and 98.9% (after 1-9 years of survival, respectively). The LASSO regression identified age, marriage, race, T status, N status, chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy as predictors of CS-nomogram development. This model had a satisfactory predictive performance with a stable 10-year time-dependent area under the curves (AUCs) between 0.75 and 0.86., Conclusions: Survival of non-metastatic TNBC survivors improved dynamically and non-linearly with survival time. The video-based commonsense captioning task aims to add multiple commonsense descriptions to video captions to understand video content better. This paper aims to consider the importance of cross-modal mapping. We propose a combined framework called Class-dependent and Cross-modal Memory Network considering SENtimental features (CCMN-SEN) for Video-based Captioning to enhance commonsense caption generation. Firstly, we develop class-dependent memory for recording the alignment between video features and text. It only allows cross-modal interactions and generation on cross-modal matrices that share the same labels. Then, to understand the sentiments conveyed in the videos and generate accurate captions, we add sentiment features to facilitate commonsense caption generation. Experiment results demonstrate that our proposed CCMN-SEN significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. This 3-month randomized psychoeducation-controlled trial (RCT) of exercise was undertaken in young adolescents with subthreshold depression to examine the impact on gut microbiota. Participants (aged 12-14 years) were randomly assigned to an exercise or a psychoeducation-controlled group. The exercise intervention arm took moderate-intensity exercise, comprised of 30 min of running per day, 4 days a week for 3 months. Psychoeducation intervention consisted of 6 sessions of group activity including gaming, reading, and singing. The gut microbiota was assessed by metagenomic sequencing. After 3-month moderate-intensity exercise, the intervention group increased the relative abundance of Coprococcus, Blautia, Dorea, Tyzzerella at the genus level, as well as Tyzzerella nexilis, Ruminococcus obeum at species level when compared to the psychoeducation-controlled group. Moreover, EggNOG analyses showed that the defense and signal transduction mechanism were highly enriched after the active intervention, and changes were correlated with improvements in depressive symptoms measured by Chinese Patient Depression Questionnaire 9. The KEGG pathway of neurodegenerative diseases was depleted in the microbiome in young adolescents with subthreshold depression after exercise intervention. To regulate nanostructure synthesis is of crucial importance for developing various applications, including catalysis, bioanalysis, and optical devices. Herein, the morphology and peroxidase (POD)-mimicking activity of peptide-templated copper nanoassemblies (Cu NAs) are regulable with peptide types. The Cu NAs templated with peptide containing single cysteine are uniform nanoclusters with strong POD-like activity. However, the Cu NAs templated with peptide containing two cysteines are fusiform-like with very weak POD-like activity. Unexpectedly, the POD-like activity of Cu NAs templated with peptide containing two cysteines with lysine between the cysteines is significantly enhanced when trypsin is incubated, which is unchanged for the Cu NAs templated with peptide containing two cysteines without lysine between the cysteines. The remarkably enhanced POD-mimicking activity originates from trypsin specifically shearing the peptide bond on the lysine, thereby allowing the aggregated Cu NAs to unravel into individual nanoclusters. Therefore, a robust colorimetric sensing platform was constructed for sensitive and selective detection of trypsin, which showed a linear concentration range of 3-1000 nM and a detection limit of 0.82 nM (S/N = 3). More interestingly, featured by trypsin inhibitor restraining trypsin activity, it enabled us to screen trypsin inhibitors as well. Subsequently, the developed assay was applied to detect trypsin in serum samples with good accuracy and reproducibility. Thus, this strategy shows great potential application in the clinic for diagnosis of trypsin-indicating diseases as well as the screening of trypsin inhibitor-based anti-cancer drugs.

This paper discusses the effects of industrial agglomeration on electrical energy consumption from a spatial perspective by highlighting multiple agglomeration types. It is argued that different types of industry agglomeration may exert differentiated effects on energy consumption and their possible spatial interactions. With city sector panel data of China's 285 prefecture-level cities for the period 2003-2013, we adopted the Spatial Durbin Model (SDM) with fixed effects to examine the spatial effects of industrial agglomeration types on energy consumption. The model found that all types of industrial agglomeration play significant and different roles in explaining overall local energy consumption. Second, geographical proximity, diversity, and related variety show the spatial spillover effects on surrounding areas. Third, the spatial energy effects of industrial agglomeration across regions are evidently heterogeneous. Diversity and one of its sub-forms-related variety maintains consumption-saving effects in regions with the initial or intermediate stage of an industry life cycle, while unrelated variety changes over different phases. Objective: To evaluate and summarize the best evidence for nonpharmacological management of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). This article aims at serving as a reference for nursing staff to prevent and manage CINV., Methods: We systematically searched for evidence on CINV in databases such as Cnki and Wanfang, guide websites such as GIN and NZGG, and professional websites such as UICC and ACS. Only articles published between November 2012 and November 2021 were considered for inclusion in the summary. Two researchers evaluated the quality of the literature and extracted the data., Results: A total of 22 articles were included in this study, including 3 clinical decisions, 2 guidelines, 1 evidence summary, 2 recommended practices, 13 systematic reviews, and 1 expert consensus. Finally, 15 pieces of evidence were summarized from 3 perspectives: risk factor assessment, nursing process specification, and nonpharmacological interventions., Conclusion: Our research summarizes the best evidence on nonpharmacological management of CINV. Introduction: Hypertrophic scar (HS), a fibroproliferative disorder of the skin with some tumor-like properties, is closely related to dysregulated inflammation. PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor is a promising medication for cancer therapy as its potent functions on adaptive immune response; whether it could be a candidate for HS therapy has aroused our interest. This study aimed to explore the effect and the mechanism of BMS-202, a PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor, in HS., Methods: Ten HS and adjacent normal skin tissues collected from HS patients were used to detect α-SMA, collagen I, and PD-L1 expression by Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and western blot (WB) analysis. Fibroblasts derived from HS tissues (HFBs) were exposed to diverse concentrations of BMS-202, of which proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and collagen synthesis were evaluated by Cell Counting Kit-8, wound healing, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) dUTP Nick-End labeling, and [ 3 H]-proline incorporation assays, respectively. The effect of BMS-202 on α-SMA and collagen I expression, and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1)/Smad signaling in HFBs was also determined by WB and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay., Results: The expression level of PD-L1 was significantly elevated in both HS tissues and HFBs, which was positively correlated with α-SMA and collagen I expressions. BMS-202 exerted a significant suppression effect on the cell proliferation, migration, collagen synthesis, and α-SMA and collagen I expression of HFBs in a concentration-dependent way; but did not affect apoptosis. A novel all-pass slot microring resonator (SMRR), intended for label-free optical biosensing based on silicon-on-insulator platforms, is proposed. The sensor consists of a bent asymmetric directional coupler and an asymmetric-slot microring waveguide. The appropriate slot width of 140 nm is identified by the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D-FDTD) method for better light-matter interaction in applications. According to numerical calculations, the SMRR sensor with a footprint of 10 µm × 10 µm has a concentration sensitivity of 725.71 pm/% for sodium chloride (NaCl) solutions. The corresponding refractive index sensitivity is 403 nm/RIU (refractive index unit), which is approximately six times greater than that of traditional microring resonator sensors. A low detection limit of 0.129% is also achieved. This SMRR is an excellent candidate for label-free optical biosensors due to its compact structure and excellent sensing capability.

Nanozymes featuring with favorable activity, good stability and easy scale-up production, are promising to replace natural enzymes for various applications. However, it remains a challenge to explore the cascade reactions of multi-enzyme mimics, aiming at synergistic catalysis for various applications. Herein, vanadium nitride nanoparticles deposited on carbon nanofibers (VN@CNFs) composite was facilely prepared by typical electrospinning route with subsequently ammonia reduction process. The nanocomposite showed excellent peroxidase (POD)-like and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activities. Additionally, their catalytic mechanisms were systematically researched. Coupling of SOD-like with POD-like as cascade enzyme, a selective and sensitive colorimetric detection of superoxide anion (O 2 •- ) was explored, which has two linear parts, 0.05-30 μM and 30-250 μM O 2 •- with the LOD of 0.0167 μM (S/N = 3). The as-proposed method was applicable to practical samples detection with satisfactory accuracy and recovery. Enzymatic biofuel cells (EBFCs) provide a new strategy to enable direct biomass-to-electricity conversion, posing considerable demand on sequential enzymes. However, artificial blend of multi-enzyme systems often suffer biocatalytic inefficiency due to the rambling mixture of catalytic units. In an attempt to construct a high-performance starch/O 2 EBFC, herein we prepared a starch-oxidizing bioanode based on displaying a sequential enzyme system of glucoamylase (GA) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) on E.coli cell surfaces in a precise way using cohesin-dockerin interactions. The enzyme stoichiometry was optimized, with GA&GDH (3:1)-E.coli exhibiting the highest catalytic reaction rate. The bioanode employed polymerized methylene blue (polyMB) to collect electrons from the oxidation of NADH into NAD + , which jointly oxidized starch together with co-displayed GA and GDH. The bioanode was oxygen-insensitive, which can be combined with a laccase based biocathode, resulting in a membranless starch/O 2 EBFC in a non-compartmentalized configuration. Based on the conjugated complex PVK: Ir(ppy) 3 , a green-emitting organic quasicrystal microcavity laser is demonstrated driven by optical pumping. The organic laser adopts a sandwich structure of DBR/organic gain membrane/output Ag-layer for the vertical oscillation and an octagonal quasi-crystal for in-plane light localization. The experimental results show that the single-mode lasing action is observed at 521 nm with an FWHM of 0.8 nm. The threshold of lasing is lowered to 0.181 μJ/cm 2 .

Background The aim of the study was to identify biomarkers that can facilitate early diagnosis and treatment of fulminant myocarditis (FM) in order to reduce mortality. Methods and Results First, the expression profiles of circulating cytokines were determined in the plasma samples from 4 patients with FM and 4 controls using human cytokine arrays. The results showed that 39 cytokines from patients with FM were changed at admission. Among them, 8 cytokines returned to normal levels at discharge, including soluble ST2 (sST2), which showed the most marked dynamic changes from disease onset to resolution. Then, in a cohort of 76 patients with FM, 57 patients with acute hemodynamic dysfunction attributable to other causes, and 56 patients with non-FM, receiver operating characteristic curve analyses suggested that plasma sST2 level was able to differentiate FM from non-FM or other FM-unrelated acute heart failure more robustly N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide or cardiac troponin I. Moreover, longitudinal analysis of plasma sST2 was performed in 10 patients with FM during hospitalization and 16 patients with FM during follow-up. Finally, the diagnostic value was validated in an additional 26 patients with acute onset of unstable hemodynamics. The cutoff value of plasma sST2 for optimal diagnosis of FM was established at 58.39 ng/mL, where a sensitivity of 85.7% and specificity of 94.7% were achieved. Conclusions Elevated sST2 level was associated with mechanical stress or inflammation. Especially, sST2 might be used as a potential biomarker for the rapid diagnosis of FM, which was characterized by strong mechanical stretch stimulation and severe inflammatory response. It is important to exploit highly efficient methods for detecting pollutants selectively and sensitively. Artificial enzymes are promising to replace natural enzymes with diverse functions for sustainable developments and various applications. However, it remains the challenge to develop novel mimic enzymes or multi-enzyme mimics for pollutant detection. Herein we report hierarchical porous MoS 2 particles prepared by a simple hydrothermal method, which demonstrated excellent sulfite oxidase (SuO x )-, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) oxidase- and superoxide dismutase-mimicking activities. In addition, the catalytic conditions for SuO x -like and NADH oxidase-like activities of MoS 2 were optimized. The catalytic mechanism of the NADH oxidase mimics is that O 2 involves in the oxidation of NADH, to generate O 2 .- intermediate and finally turn to H 2 O 2 , while SuO x mimics comes from that MoS 2 particles can effectively catalyze sulfite to reduce [Fe(CN) 6 ] 3- . Based on the excellent SuO x -like activity of MoS 2 particles, while phenol can inhibit the oxidation of sulfite, a phenol colorimetric sensor was explored with the dynamic range of 2-1000 μM and the limit of detection of 0.72 μM, applicable to detect phenol in effluents. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) induces significant morbidity and mortality, for which there are limited therapeutic options available. Here, we found that tetraethylthiuram disulphide (disulfiram, DSF), a derivative of thiuram, used in the treatment of alcohol abuse, has an inhibitory effect on bleomycin (BLM)-induced pulmonary fibrosis via the attenuation of the fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition, migration, and proliferation of fibroblasts. Furthermore, DSF inhibited the activation of primary pulmonary fibroblasts and fibroblast cell line under transforming growth factor-β 1 (TGF-β1) challenge. Mechanistically, the anti-fibrotic effect of DSF on fibroblasts depends on the inhibition of TGF-β signalling. We further determined that DSF interrupts the interaction between SMAD3 and TGF-β receptor Ι (TBR Ι), and identified that DSF directly binds with SMAD3, in which Trp326, Thr330, and Cys332 of SMAD3 are critical binding sites for DSF. Collectively, our results reveal a powerful anti-fibrotic function of DSF in pulmonary fibrosis through the inhibition of TGF-β/SMAD signalling in pulmonary fibroblasts, indicating that DSF is a promising therapeutic candidate for IPF., (Copyright © 2021. Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is originated from the mucus-producing glands of the lungs. The involvement of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been discovered in multiple diseases. In the present research, we aimed to unmask the role of C2CD4D and THEM5 antisense RNA 1 (C2CD4D-AS1) in LUAD. RT-qPCR or western blot analysis was respectively applied in the detection of RNA or protein expressions. The function of C2CD4D-AS1 in LUAD was assessed by functional assays. Through ChIP, RNA pull down, DNA pull down, RIP and luciferase reporter assays, the in-depth regulatory mechanism of C2CD4D-AS1 in LUAD was explored. C2CD4D-AS1 was dramatically overexpressed in LUAD tissues and cell lines. As a result, depletion of C2CD4D-AS1 significantly repressed cell proliferation, migration, invasion and stimulated cell apoptosis in LUAD. Mechanistically, ETS variant transcription factor 4 (ETV4) activated the transcription of C2CD4D-AS1 and stimulated its up-regulation in LUAD cells, thus affecting LUAD cell biological functions. Furthermore, C2CD4D-AS1 sponged microRNA-3681-3p (miR-3681-3p) and regulated NIMA-related kinase 2 (NEK2), thus participating in modulating LUAD cell biological behaviors. To conclude, C2CD4D-AS1 up-regulation induced by ETV4 enhanced NEK2 expression by sequestering miR-3681-3p to contribute to the malignant behaviors of LUAD cells.

Cu x O nanorods with excellent NADH peroxidase mimics were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method. The catalytic oxidation of NADH to NAD cofactor strictly follows the enzymatic kinetics with high catalytic rate and strong affinity. The catalytic mechanism of Cu x O NRs was that in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, the catalytic oxidizing NADH to NAD  +  involving with O 2 .-. anion production, making it realistic to mutually convert between coenzymes. Considering that the mutual transformation of NADH/NAD cofactors plays an important role in biological function, combination of Cu x O NRs with alcohol dehydrogenase, a highly selective method for fluorimetric detection of ethanol was established. The as-proposed sensing platform is capable of dectecting alcohol with the limit of detection of 26.7 μM (S/N = 3) and applied in practical sample with satisfied accuracy and recovery. Purpose: To investigate the clinical effect of the four-step pouch plastic surgery in ocular plastic surgery., Methods: Patients with ocular plastic surgery admitted to our hospital from January 2018 to October 2019 were selected as the study subjects. The patients were divided into the observation group ( n =41) and the control group ( n =43) according to the different surgical modalities received. The traditional skin approach of lower eyelid, and the four-step pouch plastic surgery were used as the control group and observation group, respectively. The operation time, postoperative recovery time of the eye skin, clinical effect, postoperative complications, and satisfaction rate were compared between the two groups., Results: The operation time was compared between the two groups, indicating no significant difference ( P > 0.05). The postoperative recovery time of the eye skin was significantly shorter in the observation group than the control group ( P < 0.05). The total clinical effective rate (95.12%) was significantly higher in the observation group than that in the control group (79.07%) ( P < 0.05). The total incidence of complications (7.32%) was significantly lower in the observation group than that in the control group (25.58%) ( P < 0.05). Background: Animal and human studies have revealed reciprocal association between exercise and gut-brain axis. However, the clinical evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCT) are still limited to directly assess the effects of aerobic exercise on gut microbiota. To fill this gap, we conducted this 12-week RCT in both groups of adolescents with and without sub-threshold mood symptoms., Methods: A total of 224 adolescents were randomized to the aerobic exercise intervention or psychoeducation-controlled arm. 49 adolescents with subthreshold symptoms and 142 clinically-well adolescents provided the sample for microbiota assessed by metagenomic sequencing. Aerobic exercise of running at the moderate-intensity for 30 min per day, 5 days a week, were conducted for 12 weeks., Results: Adolescents with subthreshold symptoms had significantly lower beta diversity than clinically-well adolescents in both the exercise intervention and psychoeducation-controlled arms (p<0.05). After intervention, no difference in gut microbiota diversity, phylum, genus, species level abundancies or gut microbial functions were found in both of the symptomatic or non-symptomatic groups. Metagenome-wide association study analysis showed no significant difference in metagenomic linkage groups., Limitations: The sample size is relatively small. The exercise intensity we employed may be insufficient to result in observable effects on intestinal microbiota., Conclusion: We conclude that a 12-week moderate-intensity aerobic exercise intervention showed no significant beneficial effect on the gut microbiota in clinically-well adolescents as well as in adolescents with subthreshold symptoms. Nanozymes are artificial enzymes, which can substitute natural enzymes for wide range of catalysis-based applications. However, it is challenging to explore novel mimic enzymes or multi-enzyme mimics. Herein we report the facile preparation of uniform CuS nanoclusters (NCs), which possessed outstanding tetra-enzyme mimetic catalytic activities, including peroxidase (POD)-mimics, catalase (CAT)-mimics, ascorbic acid oxidase (AAO)-mimics and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-mimics. The catalytic mechanism of POD-like was coming from the oxygen vacancies of CuS. Furthermore, the steady-state kinetics of POD-, CAT- and AAO mimics of CuS NCs were systematically explored. On basis of the enzymatic cascade reaction that acid phosphatase (ACP) involved in a weak acidic environment, in the presence of O-phenylenediamine, quinoxaline fluorescent substance will be generated. Thus, a fluorescent biosensor platform was proposed for detection of ACP with the linear range of 0.05-25 U L -1 and limit of detection of 0.01 U L -1 . The as-proposed method was applicable to real serum sample detection accurately and reproducibly. Aims: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are critical regulators of viral infection and inflammatory responses. However, the roles of lncRNAs in acute myocarditis (AM), especially fulminant myocarditis (FM), remain unclear., Methods: FM and non-fulminant myocarditis (NFM) were induced by coxsackie B3 virus (CVB3) in different mouse strains. Then, the expression profiles of the lncRNAs in the heart tissues were detected by sequencing. Finally, the patterns were analyzed by Pearson/Spearman rank correlation, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes, and Cytoscape 3.7., Results: First, 1,216, 983, 1,606, and 2,459 differentially expressed lncRNAs were identified in CVB3-treated A/J, C57BL/6, BALB/c, and C3H mice with myocarditis, respectively. Among them, 88 lncRNAs were commonly dysregulated in all four models. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction analyses further confirmed that four out of the top six commonly dysregulated lncRNAs were upregulated in all four models. Moreover, the levels of ENSMUST00000188819, ENSMUST00000199139, and ENSMUST00000222401 were significantly elevated in the heart and spleen and correlated with the severity of cardiac inflammatory infiltration. A simple colorimetric sensing strategy for Hg 2+ ions was developed using silver/copper nanoclusters (Ag/Cu NCs) with excellent selectivity and sensitivity. Bimetallic Ag/Cu NCs were synthesized by using glutathione (GSH) as a template and sodium borohydride as a reducing agent. It was found that the peroxidase-like activity of Ag/Cu NCs was significantly enhanced in the presence of Hg 2+ . Therefore, a colorimetric method based on catalysis was developed to detect Hg 2+ with a linear concentration range of 0.1-700 nM and a detection limit of 0.05 nM (S/N = 3). The common species have no effect on Hg 2+ ion detection. Furthermore, this method is applicable to accurately detect Hg 2+ in real aqueous samples and is reproducible. Therefore, owing to the merits of sensitivity, selectivity, rapid response and visual read-out, it can be promising in the development of a portable Hg 2+ analyzer for on-site detection.

Bacterial infections caused by biofilms are severe clinical problems, resulting in high drug resistance by limiting the penetration of antibiotics. Herein, a near-infrared (NIR)-activated chem/photodynamic/photothermal combined therapeutic agent is proposed by loading fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), ultrasmall copper sulfide nanoparticles (Cu 2- x SNPs), and ε-polylysine (PLL) onto mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) through a layer-by-layer self-assembly approach. FITC-doped MSNs are prepared to monitor the permeability and accumulation of nanocomposites into biofilms. MSNs can also act as hosts for the synthesis of ultrasmall Cu 2- x SNPs, which has effective photodynamic and photothermal ablation against bacteria under NIR light irradiation. Moreover, biodegradable PLL introduced can not only enhance adhesion toward the bacterial surface to increase the effectiveness of phototherapy but also damage bacteria through electrostatic interaction. As a result, the prepared nanocomposites could not only penetrate biofilms but also ablate biofilms through combined chem/photodynamic/photothermal effects under NIR light irradiation. Furthermore, the nanocomposites could treat bacterial infections in vivo with negligible tissue toxicity. Overall, the finely designed nanocomposites are anticipated to display promising applications in imaging-guided chem/photodynamic/photothermal combined therapy for bacterial infections.

Gold nanoplates (AuNPTs) exhibit outstanding photothermal conversion efficiency (68.5%) and peroxidase-like activity. The combination of the very low H2O2 concentration (0.1 mM) and the low AuNPT dosage (50 μg mL-1) with 808 nm laser irradiation (1 W cm-2, 3 min) shows excellent synergistic antibacterial ability and healing of MRSA-infected wounds in vivo.

In recent years, image style transfer has been greatly improved by using deep learning technology. However, when directly applied to clothing style transfer, the current methods cannot allow the users to self-control the local transfer position of an image, such as separating specific T-shirt or trousers from a figure, and cannot achieve the perfect preservation of clothing shape. Therefore, this paper proposes an interactive image localized style transfer method especially for clothes. We introduce additional image called outline image, which is extracted from content image by interactive algorithm. The interaction consists simply of dragging a rectangle around the desired clothing. Then, we introduce an outline loss function based on distance transform of the outline image, which can achieve the perfect preservation of clothing shape. In order to smooth and denoise the boundary region, total variation regularization is employed. The proposed method constrains that the new style is generated only in the desired clothing part rather than the whole image including background. Therefore, in our new generated images, the original clothing shape can be reserved perfectly. Background: Diabetic nephropathy is a frequent microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus that causes end-stage renal disease most of the time. In China, Shenkang injection is one of widely used traditional Chinese medicine for treating chronic kidney disease, but its efficacy and safety have not yet been clarified. We will systematically review the current randomized controlled trial (RCT) evidence to summarize the efficacy and safety of Shenkang injection in treating diabetic nephropathy., Methods: We will search 7 literature databases including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Sinomed, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and VIP. Two trial registry platforms will also be searched. The time frame of the search will be from the inceptions of the databases to December 31, 2020. RCTs assessing Shenkang injection combined with basic treatments versus basic treatments alone for treating diabetic nephropathy will be included. The risk of bias within the individual RCTs will be evaluated using criteria proposed by the Cochrane Handbook 5.1.0. The primary outcomes to be investigated are glomerular filtration rate and serum creatinine; the secondary outcome will include 24-hour urine albumin excretion rate, blood urea nitrogen, fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, total cholesterol, triglyceride, response to treatment, and incidence of adverse events. The effect data of individual RCTs by performing random-effects model meta-analysis. Statistical heterogeneity will be measured by the Cochran Q test and I-squared statistics. Three subgroup analyses, set based on clinical experience, will be performed to explore the sources of heterogeneity. Sensitivity analyses excluding RCTs with high risk of bias and using fixed effect model will be done to test the robustness of the meta-analytic results. Publication bias across included RCTs will be evaluated by funnel plots and Egger test., Results: This study will provide systematic review on the efficacy and safety of Shenkang Injection as adjuvant therapy in patients with diabetic nephropathy by rigorous quality assessment and reasonable data synthesis. A fluorimetric analytical method using test strips has been fabricated for detecting Hg 2+ ions in blood by using copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) prepared via a biomineralization route. Unexpectedly, the as-prepared Cu NCs displayed greatly amplified red fluorescence once dispersed in DMSO, the intensity of which decreased specifically in the presence of Hg 2+ . Moreover, the resultant Cu NCs were deposited onto test strips to be further fast dried on superhydrophobic substrates in vacuum. The test strip-based fluorimetry can allow for the direct analysis of Hg 2+ in blood in the linear concentration range of 0.10-1000 nM. Importantly, this solvent-enhanced fluorescence protocol for different metal probes such as Cu NCs promises extensive analysis applications for designing numerous fluorimetric platforms such as test strips.

Magnetic hierarchical flower-like Co 3 O 4 spheres (Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers) were facilely prepared via one-step surfactant-free and template-free wet chemical route at room temperature. The formation mechanism of Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers was explored. The as-prepared Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers exhibited excellent tetra-enzyme mimetic activities, including oxidase-like, peroxidase-like, catalase-like and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity. The catalytic mechanism of the Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers was studied in detail. The oxidase-like catalytic activity of Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers was derived from the inherent oxygen vacancies of Co 3 O 4 , while the peroxidase-like catalytic activity originated from the •OH radical generated by hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ). Only one specific enzyme mimics reaction with Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers can be obtained by inhibiting specifically other nanozymes via varying pH, adding appropriate scavengers or selecting its specific substrate. Further, the steady-state kinetic and catalytic performance of the oxidase-, peroxidase- and catalase mimics of Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers were studied. Based on the oxidase-like and peroxidase-like activities of Co 3 O 4 nanoflowers, bifunctional colorimetric sensing platforms were constructed for the sensitive detection of acid phosphatase (ACP) with the linear range of 0.1-25 U L -1 and H 2 O 2 with the linear range of 4-400 μM. Further, it is capable of detecting ACP in serum samples and H 2 O 2 in water samples, respectively. The plant U-box (PUB) proteins function as E3 ligases to poly-ubiquitinate the target proteins for their degradation or post-translational modification. PUBs also play important roles in regulation of diverse biological processes, including plant response to environmental stresses. In this study, the functional characterization of a soybean PUB gene, GmPUB6, was performed. GmPUB6 was mainly localized to peroxisome, and showed E3 ubiquitin ligase activity. The transcript levels of GmPUB6 in soybean leaves and roots were induced by abscisic acid (ABA), high salinity and polyethylene glycol (PEG) treatment. Comparing with the wild-type (WT) plants, overexpression of GmPUB6 in Arabidopsis thaliana decreased plant survival rate after drought stress, reduced seed germination rate and root elongation under mannitol (osmotic) stress, and suppressed ABA- or mannitol-mediated stomatal closure. In addition, under dehydration stress, the relative expression levels of seven stress responsive genes, including ABI1, DREB2A, KIN2, RAB18, RD20, RD29A and RD29B, were lower in GmPUB6-overexpressed plants than WT. Taken together, these results suggest that GmPUB6 functions as a negative regulator in drought tolerance, and plays an important role in osmotic stress and ABA signaling pathways, which might be the possible mechanism of PUB6 participating in drought stress response., (Copyright © 2020 Elsevier Masson SAS. Nanozymes are artificial enzymes, which can substitute traditional biological enzymes for multifield applications. However, to date, it remains challenging to search novel mimic enzymes or multienzyme mimics. Herein, a facile and green method for preparing monodisperse, homogeneous copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) with smaller size was developed, which used cysteamine as a template and hydrazine hydrate as a reductant to reduce Cu 2+ . The as-prepared Cu NCs exhibited excellent tetraenzyme-like activities, including peroxidase (POD)-, catalase (CAT)-, superoxide dismutase (SOD)-, and ascorbic acid oxidase (AAO)-mimic activities. The mechanisms, kinetics, and catalytic performances of Cu NCs were systematically studied. Moreover, based on the POD-like activity of Cu NCs, sensitive and simple colorimetric sensing glutathione (GSH) was explored, with the low limit of detection of 0.89 μM GSH ( S / N = 3). Additionally, a novel fluorimetric ascorbic acid (AA) sensor was developed with the linear range of 0.5-30 μM and limit of detection (LOD) of 0.144 μM, on the basis of the principle that AA is oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid (DHAA) specifically catalyzed by the AAO-like activity of Cu NCs, while DHAA can further react with o -phenylenediamine (OPDA) to generate a highly fluorescent quinoxaline (DFQ) derivative. The as-proposed colorimetric GSH sensor and the fluorimetric AA sensor were capable of detecting GSH and AA, respectively, in real samples accurately and reproducibly. Thus, the Cu NCs-based multienzyme mimic is a promising candidate for biocatalysis and biosensing.

Background: The traditional treatment for diabetes usually requires frequent insulin injections to maintain normoglycemia, which is painful and difficult to achieve blood glucose control., Results: To solve these problems, a non-invasive and painless oral delivery nanoparticle system with bioadhesive ability was developed by amphipathic 2-nitroimidazole-L-cysteine-alginate (NI-CYS-ALG) conjugates. Moreover, in order to enhance blood glucose regulation, an intelligent glucose-responsive switch in this nanoparticle system was achieved by loading with insulin and glucose oxidase (GOx) which could supply a stimulus-sensitive turnover strategy. In vitro tests illustrated that the insulin release behavior was switched "ON" in response to hyperglycemic state by GOx catalysis and "OFF" by normal glucose levels. Moreover, in vivo tests on type I diabetic rats, this system displayed a significant hypoglycemic effect, avoiding hyperglycemia and maintaining a normal range for up to 14 h after oral administration., Conclusion: The stimulus-sensitive turnover strategy with bioadhesive oral delivery mode indicates a potential for the development of synthetic GR-NPs for diabetes therapy, which may provide a rational design of proteins, low molecular drugs, as well as nucleic acids, for intelligent releasing via the oral route.

: Aluminum (Al) toxicity is a major factor limiting crop productivity on acid soils. Soybean ( Glycine max ) is an important oil crop and there is great variation in Al tolerance in soybean germplasms. However, only a few Al-tolerance genes have been reported in soybean. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify candidate Al tolerance genes by comparative transcriptome analysis of two contrasting soybean varieties in response to Al stress. Two soybean varieties, M90-24 (M) and Pella (P), which showed significant difference in Al tolerance, were used for RNA-seq analysis. We identified a total of 354 Al-tolerance related genes, which showed up-regulated expression by Al in the Al-tolerant soybean variety M and higher transcript levels in M than P under Al stress. These genes were enriched in the Gene Ontology (GO) terms of cellular glucan metabolic process and regulation of transcription. Five out of 11 genes in the enriched GO term of cellular glucan metabolic process encode cellulose synthases, and one cellulose synthase gene (Glyma.02G205800) was identified as the key hub gene by co-expression network analysis. Furthermore, treatment of soybean roots with a cellulose biosynthesis inhibitor decreased the Al tolerance, indicating an important role of cellulose production in soybean tolerance to Al toxicity. This study provides a list of candidate genes for further investigation on Al tolerance mechanisms in soybean.

There are opportunities for improvements to the efficiency and toxicity of widely used cancer chemotherapy agents such as doxorubicin (DOX·HCl) and 7-Ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin (SN38). We developed a safe and effective combination therapy by encapsulating DOX into micelles of a zwitterionic polymer prodrug, SN38 conjugate of poly (α-azide caprolactone-co-caprolactone)-b-poly (2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine [P(CL/CL-g-SN38)-b-PMPC)] which was described in our previous work. The polymer prodrug micelles displayed a higher loading capacity of DOX due to the π-π stacking effect between DOX and SN38 in comparison with the micelles self-assembled by prodrug's precursor, poly(α-azide caprolactone-co-caprolactone)-b-poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (P(ACL/CL)-b-PMPC). The DOX loaded prodrug micelles decelerated the release of DOX, and also prolonged its circulation. The micelles showed favorable cellular internalization by 4T1 cells. DOX loaded SN38 prodrug micelles displayed good in vitro anticancer effects owing to the synergistic action of doxorubicin and SN38 and were as effective as DOX·HCl, but with lower toxicity than DOX·HCl. Mesoporous silver-melamine (Ag-MA) nanocomposites were synthesized by controlled supramolecular self-assembly with various structural morphologies. It was discovered that the rod-like Ag-MA nanocomposites could present the larger Hg 2+ -enhanced catalysis by forming Ag-Hg alloys. Also, they could display large surface-to-volume area and high aqueous stability for the selective Hg 2+ enrichment and absorption of Hg 2+ ions by yielding the stable coordination complexes. A catalysis-based colorimetric method was thus developed using 96-wells plates to probe Hg 2+ ions in blood and wastewater with the linear Hg 2+ concentrations ranging from 1.0 nM to 600 nM and 0.50 nM to 700 nM, respectively. Besides, mesoporous Ag-MA absorbents could facilitate the removal of Hg 2+ ions in wastewater with the removal efficiency up to 99.76 % and the absorption capacity of 598.99 mg g -1 ., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier B.V. Electronic medical records (EMRs) are extremely important for patients' treatment, doctors' diagnoses, and medical technology development. In recent years, the distributed healthcare blockchain system has been researched for solving the information isolated island problem in centralized healthcare service systems. However, there still exists a series of important problems such as the patients' sensitive information security, cross-institutional data sharing, medical quality, and efficiency. In this paper, we establish a lightweight privacy-preserving mechanism for a healthcare blockchain system. First, we apply an interleaving encoder to encrypt the original EMRs. This can hide the sensitive information of EMRs to protect the patient's privacy security. Second, a ( t , n )-threshold lightweight message sharing scheme is presented. The EMRs are mapped to n different short shares, and it can be reconstructed by at least t shares. The EMR shares rather than the original EMRs are stored in the blockchain nodes. This can guarantee high security for EMR sharing and improve the data reconstruction efficiency. Third, the indexes of the stored EMR shares are employed to generate blocks that are chained together and finally form a blockchain. The authorized data users or institutions can recover an EMR by requesting at least t shares of the EMR from the blockchain nodes. In this way, the healthcare blockchain system can not only facilitate the cross-institution sharing process, but also provide proper protections for the EMRs. The security proof and analysis indicate that the proposed scheme can protect the privacy and security of patients' medical information. The simulation results show that our proposed scheme is more efficient than similar literature in terms of energy consumption and storage space, and the healthcare blockchain system is more stable with the proposed message sharing scheme.

It is important to detect pathogens rapidly, sensitively, and selectively for clinical medicine, homeland security, food safety, and environmental control. We report here a specific and sensitive colorimetric assay that incorporated a bovine serum albumin-templated Co 3 O 4 magnetic nanozyme (Co 3 O 4 MNE) with a novel specific fusion phage protein and magnetophoretic chromatography to detect Staphylococcus aureus . The Co 3 O 4 MNE was conjugated to S. aureus -specific fusion-pVIII (Co 3 O 4 MNE@fusion-pVIII), screened from the S. aureus -specific phage AQTFLGEQD (the phage monoclone is denoted by the peptide sequence). The as-prepared triple-functional Co 3 O 4 MNE@fusion-pVIII particles were capable of capturing S. aureus in sterile milk, which were then isolated from milk magnetically. Assisted by polyethylene glycol, the Co 3 O 4 MNE@fusion-pVIII@ S. aureus complex was separated from the free Co 3 O 4 MNE@fusion-pVIII by magnetophoretic chromatography in an external magnetic field. After transferring the isolated Co 3 O 4 MNE@fusion-pVIII@ S. aureus complexes into a 96-well plate, diammonium salt of 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzo-thiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and H 2 O 2 were added to develop color because of the peroxidase mimetics activity of the Co 3 O 4 MNE. A S. aureus concentration within 10-10,000 cfu/mL in milk can be detected (detection limit: 8 cfu/mL). The as-developed method is simple, cost-efficient, and sensitive, which is useful for rapidly diagnosing pathogenic bacteria and helpful to prevent disease outbreaks induced by pathogens in developing countries.

A nanocomposite nanozyme has been fabricated through mineralizing gold-silver bimetals into Hemin (Hem)-coupled melamine (MA) polymer matrix for visual colorimetric analysis of H 2 O 2 and glucose. Catalytic Hem was cross-linked onto MA scaffold for the mineralization of Au-Ag bimetals yielding the rod-like nanocomposite of MA-Hem/Au-Ag. It was discovered that the resulting nanocomposite could present high aqueous stability and especially improved catalysis, which was more than four-fold higher than that of native Hem. Catalytic kinetics studies indicate that the prepared nanocomposite nanozyme could present much higher affinities to the substrates than those of native Hem or even horseradish peroxidase. Herein, the so mineralized Au-Ag bimetals with the "silver effect" would act as "nanowires" for promoting the electron transferring of nanocomposite nanozyme. Moreover, the Hem-coupled MA polymer matrix with high specific surface area could ensure the high adsorption capacity for the reactant substrates and targeting analytes. The application feasibility of the developed nanocomposite nanozyme was demonstrated subsequently by the colorimetric assays for H 2 O 2 and glucose separately in milk and blood samples, with the linear ranges of 0.010-2.50 mM and 0.0050-2.0 mM, respectively.
