Point defects play a crucial role in determining the physical properties of solid-state semiconductor materials. However, theoretical investigations dedicated to point defects in higher manganese silicides (HMSs), promising thermoelectric materials composed of earth-abundant and eco-friendly elements, are surprisingly absent in the literature. Here, using first-principles calculations we systematically investigate the intrinsic and extrinsic point defects in a HMS, Mn 4 Si 7 . Our results indicate that the formation energies of intrinsic defects in Mn 4 Si 7 are sufficiently high to preclude their significant concentration under thermal equilibrium growth conditions, and the experimentally observed p-type conductivity of the pure HMS could be a result of self-doping. Additionally, we calculated the defect formation energies of 14 candidate dopants by fully considering the secondary phases, which are in good agreement with experimental findings. Our results provide valuable guidance for optimizing the doping strategy of HMSs for device applications.

Hainan dregs vinegar (HNDV) is a traditional fermented food in China that is renowned for its unique flavor. HNDV is one of the most popular vinegars in Southeast Asia. However, research on the microorganisms and characteristic metabolites specific to HNDV is lacking. This study investigated the changes in microbial succession, volatile flavor compounds and characteristic non-volatile flavor compounds during HNDV fermentation based on metagenomics and metabolomics. The predominant microbial genera were Lactococcus, Limosilactobacillus, Lactiplantibacillus, and Saccharomyces. Unlike traditional vinegar, l-lactic acid was identified as the primary organic acid in HNDV. Noteworthy flavor compounds specific to HNDV included 3-methylthiopropanol and dl-phenylalanine. Significant associations were observed between six predominant microorganisms and six characteristic volatile flavor compounds, as well as seven characteristic non-volatile flavor compounds. Emergence delirium is a common postoperative complication in patients undergoing general anesthesia, especially in children. In severe cases, it can cause unnecessary self-harm, affect postoperative recovery, lead to parental dissatisfaction, and increase medical costs. With the widespread use of inhalation anesthetic drugs (such as sevoflurane and desflurane), the incidence of emergence delirium in children is gradually increasing; however, its pathogenesis in children is complex and unclear. Several studies have shown that age, pain, and anesthetic drugs are strongly associated with the occurrence of emergence delirium. Alterations in central neurophysiology are essential intermediate processes in the development of emergence delirium. Compared to adults, the pediatric nervous system is not fully developed; therefore, the pediatric electroencephalogram may vary slightly by age. Moreover, pain and anesthetic drugs can cause changes in the excitability of the central nervous system, resulting in electroencephalographic changes. A glucosyl-rich pectin, JMMP-3 (M w , 2.572 × 10 4  g/mol, O-methyl % = 3.62%), was isolated and purified from the pericarp of the immature fruit of Juglans mandshurica Maxim. (QingLongYi). The structure of JMMP-3 was studied systematically by infrared spectroscopy, monosaccharide compositions, methylation analysis, partial acid hydrolysis, and 1/2D-NMR. We previously conducted a systematic study on the metabolic process and products of hederasaponin B in rats. We hypothesized that the sugar chain structures play a key role in the metabolism of triterpenoid saponins. To verify this hypothesis, we conducted metabolic research on ciwujianoside B ascribed to the same sugar chains and a distinct aglycone and compared it with hederasaponin B. Specifically, we collected feces, urine, and plasma of rats after gavage with ciwujianoside B and identified 42 metabolites by UPLC-Fusion Lumos Orbitrap mass spectrometry. Finally, ciwujianoside B metabolism and hederasaponin B metabolism were compared, reaching the following conclusions: (i) more than 40 metabolites were identified in both, with the majority of metabolites identified in feces; (ii) the corresponding metabolic pathways in vivo were basically similar, including deglycosylation, acetylation, hydroxylation, glucuronidation, oxidation, and glycosylation; and (iii) deglycosylation was considered the main metabolic reaction, and its metabolites accounted for approximately 50% of all metabolites. Cancer is a significant global health concern, and finding effective methods to treat it has been a focus of scientific research. It has been discovered that the growth, invasion, and metastasis of tumors are closely related to the environment in which they exist, known as the tumor microenvironment (TME). The immune response interacting with the tumor occurring within the TME constitutes the tumor immune microenvironment, and the immune response can lead to anti-tumor and pro-tumor outcomes and has shown tremendous potential in immunotherapy. A channel called the P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) has been identified within the TME. It is an ion channel present in various immune cells and tumor cells, and its activation can lead to inflammation, immune responses, angiogenesis, immunogenic cell death, and promotion of tumor development. This article provides an overview of the structure, function, and pharmacological characteristics of P2X7R. We described the concept and components of tumor immune microenvironment and the influence immune components has on tumors. The aim of this study is to propose a new diagnostic model based on "segmentation + classification" to improve the routine screening of Thyroid nodule ultrasonography by utilizing the key domain knowledge of medical diagnostic tasks. A Multi-scale segmentation network based on a pyramidal pooling structure of multi-parallel void spaces is proposed. First, in the segmentation network, the exact information of the underlying feature space is obtained by an Attention Gate. Second, the inflated convolutional part of Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (ASPP) is cascaded for multiple downsampling. Finally, a three-branch classification network combined with expert knowledge is designed, drawing on doctors' clinical diagnosis experience, to extract features from the original image of the nodule, the regional image of the nodule, and the edge image of the nodule, respectively, and to improve the classification accuracy of the model by utilizing the Coordinate attention (CA) mechanism and cross-level feature fusion. The Multi-scale segmentation network achieves 94.27%, 93.90% and 88.85% of mean precision (mPA), Dice value (Dice) and mean joint intersection (MIoU), respectively, and the accuracy, specificity and sensitivity of the classification network reaches 86.07%, 81.34% and 90.19%, respectively. Comparison tests show that this method outperforms the U-Net, AGU-Net and DeepLab V3+ classical models as well as the nnU-Net, Swin UNetr and MedFormer models that have emerged in recent years. This algorithm, as an auxiliary diagnostic tool, can help physicians more accurately assess the benign or malignant nature of Thyroid nodules. It can provide objective quantitative indicators, reduce the bias of subjective judgment, and improve the consistency and accuracy of diagnosis. Objectives: Oligo-/polysaccharides from Cyathula officinalis Kuan (COPs) and Achyranthes bidentata Blume (ABPs) have attracted researchers' attention in the fields of healthy food supplements and traditional Chinese medicine (Niúxī) due to their multiple bioactivities combined with their nontoxic and highly biocompatible nature. The purpose of this paper was to provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of the extraction, purification, and structural analysis methods, chemical characteristics, biological activities, and structure bioactivity relationship. Furthermore, the possible development trends and perspectives for future research, and traditional uses of Niúxī are also summarized., Methods: All the information was gathered from a library search and scientific databases., Key Findings: Although COPs and ABPs are derived from different plants, they have similar structural features in type, structure, and glycosidic linkage patterns and biological activities in vivo and in vitro. However, there are differences in monosaccharide compositions, which can be used as an identification mark., Conclusions: As traditional Chinese herbal medicine, C. officinalis and A. bidentata have similar pharmacological activities. Objective: To systematically analyze the accuracy of ultrasonic techniques in assessing the nature of gastric contents and their volume., Methods: English-language articles that used ultrasonic techniques to assess the nature of gastric contents and their volume in patients were selected. In eligible studies, data were recalculated and analyzed for forest plots and subject summary curves of operating characteristics (SROC). Study quality was assessed using the diagnostic accuracy study quality assessment tool QUADAS-2. Publication bias was tested using funnel plots., Results: Nine articles with a total of 523 study subjects were identified for this review. All studies were feasibility studies. The sensitivity of ultrasound assessment of gastric contents ranged from 53 to 100% and the specificity from 48 to 99%. The combined analysis yielded an area under the working characteristic curve for subjects of 97% (95% confidence interval (CI), 95-98%), a sensitivity of 95% (95% CI, 84-99%), and a specificity of 88% (95% CI, 72-95%). There was a high degree of heterogeneity among the studies due to inter-operator differences and small sample sizes., Conclusion: Ultrasound techniques have high diagnostic accuracy in assessing the nature of gastric contents and their volume in patients. However, most of the studies were feasibility studies with small sample sizes, lacked standardization, and had high risk of bias. The way in which college students learn online has dramatically altered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the triadic reciprocal determinism (TRD) theory, this study aimed to identify the key factors influencing college students' online learning experience through sentiment analysis, text mining, and social network analysis (SNA). Macro- and micro-level parsing was conducted on the SNA model, which was divided into core, mantle, and shell layers to determine the most influential factors in the core layer. This study found that learners' personal factors, learning behaviors, and related elements in the online learning environment significantly influenced the learning outcomes of college students enrolled in online courses. Additionally, this study explored the distribution of SNA model elements in the mantle and peripheral shell layers, which also impact the online learning experience of college students. Bats are associated with the circulation of most mammalian filoviruses (FiVs), with pathogenic ones frequently causing deadly hemorrhagic fevers in Africa. Divergent FiVs have been uncovered in Chinese bats, raising concerns about their threat to public health. Here, we describe a long-term surveillance to track bat FiVs at orchards, eventually resulting in the identification and isolation of a FiV, Dehong virus (DEHV), from Rousettus leschenaultii bats. DEHV has a typical filovirus-like morphology with a wide spectrum of cell tropism. Its entry into cells depends on the engagement of Niemann-Pick C1, and its replication is inhibited by remdesivir. DEHV has the largest genome size of filoviruses, with phylogenetic analysis placing it between the genera Dianlovirus and Orthomarburgvirus , suggesting its classification as the prototype of a new genus within the family Filoviridae . The continuous detection of viral RNA in the serological survey, together with the wide host distribution, has revealed that the region covering southern Yunnan, China, and bordering areas is a natural circulation sphere for bat FiVs. Objectives: BF.7 (BA.5.2.1.7) is a novel sublineage of Omicron BA.5, whose clinical characteristics are not yet established., Methods: From 28 September 2022 to 3 October 2022, the first 421 patients with BF.7 were assessed in Hohhot China and the clinical data were extracted and analysed. The basic reproduction number (R0) was estimated using a statistical model calculation method., Results: The R0 value was determined to be 13.79 (95% confidence interval: 12.44-15.24). The mean age was 33.43 ± 18.78 years. Asymptomatic, mild, moderate, severe, and critical patients accounted for 12.35% (52/421), 82.42% (347/421), 4.75% (20/421), 0.24% (1/421), and 0.24% (1/421) proportion, respectively. The main clinical symptoms were fever accounting for 41.09% (173/421), cough accounting for 41.09% (173/421), and throat dryness and soreness accounting for 30.88% (130/421). In the 3-dose vaccination subgroup, 31.22% (64) cases had a fever, which were significantly lower than 51.37% (96) cases of the 2-dose vaccination subgroup (p 0.000). The rates of abnormally increased C-reactive protein level in the 2-dose and 3-dose vaccination subgroups were 10.16% (19/187) and 4.88% (10/205), significantly lower than 66.67% (10/15) of the 1-dose vaccination subgroup (1-dose vs. 2-dose: p 0.000, 1-dose vs. 3-dose: p 0.000). Notably, the population with complete 3 doses of vaccination did not exhibit any severe or critical status., Discussion: BF.7 exhibited a higher transmission than previously emerged SARS-CoV-2. The limitations of current medications for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA) emphasize the urgent need for the development of new drugs. This study aimed to investigate the potential anti-RA mechanism of amygdalin using tandem mass tag (TMT)-based quantitative proteomics technology. First, the anti-RA activity of amygdalin was evaluated in a Complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA)-induced rat model. Then, the roles and importance of proteins in the extracted rat joint tissue were evaluated using TMT-based quantitative proteomics technology. A bioinformatics analysis was used to analyze differentially abundant proteins (DAPs). A proteomics analysis identified 297 DAPs in the amygdalin group compared with the model group, of which 53 upregulated proteins and 51 downregulated proteins showed opposite regulatory trends to the DAPs produced after modeling. According to enrichment analyses of the DAPs, the signaling pathways with a high correlation degree were determined to be the complement and coagulation cascades. Furthermore, western blotting and molecular docking were used to further validate the key node proteins, e.g., complement C1s subcomponent (C1s), component C3 (C3) and kininogen 1 (Kng1). These results suggest that amygdalin may be a promising agent for treating RA by regulating the complement and coagulation cascades.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort. (Chuanxiong, LC), as an important traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), can not only be used as a monarch herb but also be used as a classic "Yin-Jing" () medicine in compound prescriptions, e.g., Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BHD). Although LC has the effect of guiding components into the brain in BHD, there is still a lack of scientific evidence on this "Yin-Jing" effects. Herein, we used pharmacokinetics and tissue distributions to investigate "Yin-Jing" effects of LC. To simplify the study, four major constituents in BHD, i.e., Calycosin (CA), astragaloside IV (AI), paeoniflorin (PA), and amygdalin (AM) were combined to form a simple compound (abbreviated as CAPA here) to replace the original BHD in this paper. The Yin-Jing medical property of LC was confirmed by the compatibility of CAPA with LC or its different fractions (Fr. A ∼ Fr. F)., Aim of the Study: To explore the "Yin-Jing" medical property of LC via pharmacokinetics and tissue distributions by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPLC-QQQ-MS)., Materials and Methods: The contents of CA, AI, PA, and AM were simultaneously determined by the established and validated UPLC-QQQ-MS method in different rat tissues and plasma after administration of CAPA with the combination of LC or Fr. A ∼ Fr. F. The pharmacokinetic parameters, e.g., T max , C max , AUC 0-t and MRT 0-t , were calculated to evaluate the efficiency of "Yin-Jing"., Results: The C max and AUC 0-t of CA, AI, PA, and AM were remarkably increased in rat brain tissues compared with those of the control group after compatibility of LC. This demonstrated that LC has the Yin-Jing effects on brain tissues. Additionally, Fr. B or Fr. C might be the material basis by specifically studying the distributions of CA, AI, PA, and AM in brain tissue based on mutual compatibility. The effects of Fr. B and Fr. C on distributions of these constituents in other tissues or plasma was also studied to verify the effects of Yin-Jing of LC. The results showed that the same upward trend is found in heart, liver and plasma, but the intensity is insignificant as that in brain tissue. Furthermore, the C max and AUC 0-t of some analytes in the rat spleen, lung, and kidney were significantly decreased compared with the control group (P < 0.05 or 0.01)., Conclusions: LC has the function of Yin-Jing, especially guiding the components into the brain tissue. Moreover, Fr. B and Fr. C is suggested to be the pharmacodynamic material basis for the effect of Yin-Jing of LC. These finding explained that it was recommended to add LC into some prescriptions for treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases caused by Qi deficiency and blood stasis. Background: Perioperative brain protection in older patients has been the focus of research recently; meanwhile, exploring the relationship between regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO 2 ) and brain function in the perioperative period has been an emerging and challenging area-the difficulties related to the real-time monitoring of rSO 2 and the choice of feasible interventions. As an advanced instrument for intraoperative rSO 2 monitoring, the clinical application of near-infrared spectrum (NIRS) cerebral oxygen monitoring has gradually increased in popularity and is being recognized for its beneficial clinical outcomes in patients undergoing cardiac and noncardiac surgery. In addition, although sufficient evidence to support this hypothesis is still lacking, the effect of permissive hypercapnia (PHC) on rSO 2 has expanded from basic research to clinical exploration. Therefore, monitoring intraoperative rSO 2 in older patients with NIRS technology and exploring possible interventions that may change rSO 2 and even improve postoperative cognitive performance is significant and clinically valuable., Methods: This study is a single-center randomized controlled trial (RCT). 76 older patients are enrolled as subjects. Patients who meet the screening criteria will be randomly assigned 1:1 to the control and intervention groups. PHC-based mechanical ventilation will be regarded as an intervention. The primary outcome is the absolute change in the percent change in rSO 2 from baseline to the completion of surgery in the intervention and control groups. Secondary outcomes mainly include observations of intraoperative cerebral oxygenation and metabolism, markers of brain injury, and assessments of patients' cognitive function using scale through postoperative follow-up., Discussion: The findings of this RCT will reveal the effect of PHC on intraoperative rSO 2 in older patients with nonacute fragile brain function (NFBF) and the approximate trends over time, and differences in postoperative cognitive function outcomes. Diclazuril is a classic anticoccidial drug. The key molecules of diclazuril in anticoccidial action allows target screening for the development of anticoccidial drugs. Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) are prominent target proteins in apicomplexan parasites. In this study, a diclazuril anticoccidiosis animal model was established, and the transcription and translation levels of the CDK-related kinase 2 of Eimeria tenella (EtCRK2) were detected. mRNA and protein expression levels of EtCRK2 decreased in the infected/diclazuril group compared with those in the infected/control group. In addition, immunofluorescence analysis showed that EtCRK2 was localised in the cytoplasm of the merozoites. The fluorescence intensity of EtCRK2 in the infected/diclazuril group was significantly weaker than that in the infected/control group. A novel galacturonoglucan, named SCP-1, is isolated and purified from Schisandra chinensis fruits. The structure of SCP-1 is systematically investigated by a combination of monosaccharide compositions, absolute M w , methylation analysis, partial acid hydrolysis, isoamylase degradations, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The structure of SCP-1 is theoretically described as follows: (i) Glc and GalA in a molar ratio of 17:3; (ii) → 4)-α-Glcp-(1→, →4,6)-α-Glcp-(1→, →3,4,6)-α-Glcp-(1→, α-Glcp-(1→, →4)-α-GalAp-6-OMe-(1→, α-GalAp-6-OMe-(1→, β-Glcp-(1→, →6-)-β-Glcp-(1 → and →3,4)-β-Glcp-(1 → in a molar ratio of 48:5:3:3:10:5:12:5:9; (iii) a repeating unit of →4)-α-Glcp-(1 → as a backbone with branched points at C-3 and C-6, substituted by different types of acidic and neutral side chains to form multiple branches; and (iv) a rigid rod configuration deduced from α value of 1.26 in Mark-Houwink equation ([η] = kM α ). Aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) is a pivotal component of alcohol metabolism which has been supported to suppress oxidative stress-elicited DNA damage in gastric mucosa cells. Nonetheless, whether ALDH2 is also involved in GU remains indistinct. Firstly, HCl/ethanol-induced experimental rat GU model was successfully established. RT-qPCR and Western blot tested ALDH2 expression in rat tissues. Following the addition of ALDH2 activator Alda-1, gastric lesion area and index were measured. H&E staining detected the histopathology of gastric tissues. ELISA examined the levels of inflammatory mediators. Alcian blue staining evaluated mucus production of gastric mucosa. Oxidative stress levels were estimated by corresponding kits and Western blot. Western blot examined the expression of NLRP3 inflammasome- and ferroptosis-related proteins. Prussian blue staining and corresponding assay kits measured ferroptosis. In ethanol-treated GES-1 cells, NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, iron content, ferroptosis, inflammation and oxidative stress were detected as aforementioned above. In addition to that, DCFH-DA staining examined ROS generation. The experimental data corroborated that ALDH2 expression was declined in the tissues of HCl/ethanol-treated rats. Alda-1 ameliorated HCl/ethanol-stimulated gastric mucosal damage, inflammatory response, oxidative stress, NLRP3 inflammasome activation and ferroptosis in rats. Also, the suppressive role of ALDH2 in inflammatory response and oxidative stress was reversed by ferroptosis activator erastin or NLRP3 activator nigericin in HCl/ethanol-challenged GES-1 cells. Background: An ideal tension-relieving suture should be efficient for >3 months to retrieve normal tensile strength. Most preexisting suturing techniques provided tension elimination followed by relapse and scar proliferation due to absorption and cut-through of the sutures. This study introduces a simple but effective suture technique developed by a senior author (ZYX) to solve this problem., Methods: A total of 120 patients with pathological scar (PS) had intervention treatment with the proposed suturing strategy at three centers from January 2018 to January 2021. A slowly absorbable 2-0 barbed suture was used for subcutaneous tension relieving with a set-back from the wound edge and a horizontal interval between proposed inserting points of 1 cm. The Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS), scar width, perfusion and eversion of the wound edge were evaluated at 3-, 6- and 12-month follow-up. The time needed to place the tension-relieving suture was recorded and relapse was monitored for 18 months postoperatively., Results: In total, 76 trunks, 32 extremities and 12 cervical PS were included, with an average subcutaneous tension-relieving suture time of 5 min. The Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) score decreased from 84.70 ± 7.06 preoperatively to 28.83 ± 3.09, 26.14 ± 1.92 and 24.71 ± 2.00 at 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively, respectively ( p  < 0.0001). The scar widths were 0.17 ± 0.08, 0.25 ± 0.09 and 0.33 ± 0.10 cm, respectively, with perfusion significantly decreased from 213.64 ± 14.97 to 112.23 ± 8.18 at 6 months ( p  < 0.0001). Background: During high-cell-density culture of Lactobacillus fermentum, the optimal pH is often maintained by adding NaOH. During cultivation at controlled pH, L. fermentum experiences osmotic stress due to the continuous accumulation of sodium lactate as a neutralizer product, affecting its survival in subsequent processing. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the nutrient consumption patterns of L. fermentum ATCC 14931 under sodium lactate stress and to screen nutrients that help it resist osmotic stress., Results: The consumption and consumption rates of amino acids, purines, pyrimidines, vitamins, and metal ions were analyzed in chemically defined media containing 0.13, 0.31, or 0.62 mm L -1 sodium lactate. The highest consumption rates were found for arginine, guanine, folic acid, and Mn 2+ , and the most consumed nutrients were glutamate + glutamine, guanine, ascorbic acid, and Na + . Arginine 2.58 mm L -1 , guanine 0.23 mm L -1 , and Mn 2+ 0.25 mm L -1 were added to the medium at sodium lactate concentrations of 0.13 and 0.62 mm L -1 , and arginine 2.58 mm L -1 , guanine 0.26 mm L -1 , and Mn 2+ 0.25 mm L -1 at a sodium lactate concentration of 0.31 mm L -1 . The incidence of thyroid nodules is increasing year by year. Accurate determination of benign and malignant nodules is an important basis for formulating treatment plans. Ultrasonography is the most widely used methodology in the diagnosis of benign and malignant nodules, but diagnosis by doctors is highly subjective, and the rates of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis are high. To improve the accuracy of clinical diagnosis, this paper proposes a new diagnostic model based on deep learning. The diagnostic model adopts the diagnostic strategy of localization-classification. First, the distribution laws of the nodule size and nodule aspect ratio are obtained through data statistics, a multiscale localization network structure is a priori designed, and the nodule aspect ratio is obtained from the positioning results. Then, uncropped ultrasound images and nodule area image are correspondingly input into a two-way classification network, and an improved attention mechanism is used to enhance the feature extraction performance. Finally, the deep features, the shallow features, and the nodule aspect ratio are fused, and a fully connected layer is used to complete the classification of benign and malignant nodules. The experimental dataset consists of 4021 ultrasound images, where each image has been labeled under the guidance of doctors, and the ratio of the training set, validation set, and test set sizes is close to 3:1:1. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the multiscale localization network reaches 93.74%, and that the accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of the classification network reach 86.34%, 81.29%, and 90.48%, respectively. Compared with the champion model of the TNSCUI 2020 classification competition, the accuracy rate is 1.52 points higher. It is vitally important to characterize polysaccharides by monosaccharide composition method. In this study, a direct acetylation strategy combined with reversed-phase liquid chromatography electrospray tandem multiple reaction monitoring mass spectrometry (RPLC-ESI-MRM-MS) was developed for simultaneous determination of 8 aldoses (Glc, Gal, Man, Ara, Xyl, Rib, Rha and Fuc), a ketose (Fru), 2 alditols (Glc-ol and Man-ol) and 2 uronic acids (GlcA and GalA) on a high-pressure resistant reversed-phase column. Employing 1-MeIm as catalyst for direct acetylation, even though no DMSO was used to inhibit the transformation of configurations, each carbohydrate still produced a single chromatographic peak in RPLC conditions due to the ɑ- and β- isomers merged together. Except for Fru and Man, all the other 11 carbohydrates were base-line separated in a 1.7 µm CYANO column. Therefore, correction factor method is further proposed to perfectly solve co-elution problem of Fru and Man because of occurrence of a specific Q 3 ion for aldoses rather than ketose. The result was verified on a 1.7 µm Fluoro-Phenyl column with a full separation of Fru and Man. Experiments were performed to determine the effect of roasting whole wheat flours at 80 °C, 100 °C and 120 °C for 30 min on four forms of phenolics, Maillard reaction products (MRPs), and the DPPH scavenging activity (DSA) at 15, 30 and 45 days after flowering (15-DAF, 30-DAF, and 45-DAF). Roasting increased the phenolic content and antioxidant activity of the wheat flours, which were the dominant contributions to the formation of Maillard reaction products. The highest total phenolic content (TPC) and total phenolic DSA (TDSA) were determined in the DAF-15 flours at 120 °C/30 min. The DAF-15 flours exhibited the highest browning index and fluorescence of free intermediate compounds and advanced MRPs, suggesting that a substantial quantity of MRPs were formed. Four forms of phenolic compounds were detected with significantly different DSAs in the roasted wheat flours. Ozone (O 3 ) is characteristic of high oxidative activity. It displays a high potential value in sterilization and decontamination. Although O 3 has been widely investigated for its efficiency and environmentally friendly effectiveness, the fundamental issue regarding the complicated microscopic interaction mechanism between O 3 and contaminant molecules remains largely unaddressed. We addressed this knowledge gap through molecular dynamics (MD) simulation at the molecular scale. Results indicated that five representative hydrocarbon molecules (n-hexadecane, phytane, terpane, naphthalin and acenaphthylene) on a rough silica (SiO 2 ) surface were almost removed after about 300 ps simulation. And the aromatic molecules were easier to be removed than aliphatic ones. The hydroxyl oxidation reaction was demonstrated as a predominant mechanism. It is unclear whether local anesthesia (LA) is a viable and safe alternative to general anesthesia (GA) or spinal anesthesia (SA) for microscopic varicocelectomy. As a result, we designed a prospective trial to compare the pain relief, complications, and cost of LA with GA or SA in subinguinal microscopic varicocelectomy (MSV), using the propensity score matching method (PSM). This prospective study was conducted in a tertiary hospital from February 2021 to April 2022. Patients who underwent subinguinal MSV for varicocele were enrolled. The perioperative visual analog scale (VAS) scores, anesthesia-associated side effects, and cost data were recorded, and PSM analysis was performed. Finally, 354 patients were included, of whom 61.0% (216) were treated with LA, and 39.0% (138) underwent GA or LA. After PSM, the patients in the LA group exhibited lower VAS scores both three hours and one day after surgery, and a lower incidence of postoperative analgesic requirement; a lower ratio of patients who experienced anesthesia-associated side effects was also observed in the LA group, compared with the GA or SA group (all p < 0.001). The rate of perioperative satisfaction for patients was higher, the hospital stays and days to return to normal activity were shorter, and the cost was less in the LA group than in the patients in the GA or SA group (all p < 0.001). This prospective PSM cohort demonstrated that LA has the advantages of perioperative pain relief, reduced anesthesia-associated side effects, and cost, compared with GA or SA. Purpose: We hypothesized that posterior quadratus lumborum block would reduce postoperative opioid consumption and improve the quality of recovery in patients undergoing sutureless laparoscopic partial nephrectomy., Materials and Methods: The study included 60 patients, ages 18-65 with American Society of Anesthesiologists scores of I-II scheduled for elective sutureless laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Before general anesthesia, 60 participating patients were randomly allocated to receive a 30-ml injection posterior to the quadratus lumborum muscle with either 0.375% ropivacaine ( n = 30) or normal saline ( n = 30). The primary outcomes included cumulative opioid consumption within 12 h postoperatively and quality of postoperative recovery at 48 h. Secondary outcomes included the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), opioid consumption by period, first time to press the analgesic pump, number of patients needing rescue analgesia, blood glucose and cortisol concentrations, early postoperative recovery indicators, and adverse events., Results: There were 48 patients included in the final analysis. The intervention group had lower cumulative consumption of sufentanil within 12 h postoperatively and higher quality of postoperative recovery scores at 48 h postoperatively compared with the control group ( p < 0.001). The NRS at resting and movement of the intervention group was lower at 0 h, 6 h, and 12 h after surgery than in the control group ( p < 0.05). At prespecified intervals (0 to 2 h, 2 to 6 h, 6 to 12 h, 12 to 24 h, and 24 to 48 h) after surgery, the intervention group had lower consumption of sufentanil compared with the control group ( p < 0.05). The intervention group took longer to press the analgesic pump for the first time within 48 h after surgery compared with the control group ( p < 0.001). The postoperative blood glucose and cortisol concentrations in the intervention group were lower than in the control group ( p < 0.05). The times to first excretion, ambulation, and discharge were shorter in the intervention group compared with the control group ( p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in adverse events between the two groups., Conclusions: Our trial demonstrated that patients who received posterior quadratus lumborum block had significantly lower opioid consumption within 12 h postoperatively and had a better quality of recovery at 48 h postoperatively. Background: Classical swine fever virus (CSFV), the causative agent of classical swine fever (CFS), is a highly contagious disease that poses a serious threat to Chinese pig populations., Objectives: Many provinces of China, such as Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Heilongjiang, and Liaoning provinces, have reported epidemics of CSFV, while the references to the epidemic of CSFV in Yunnan province are rare. This study examined the epidemic characteristics of the CSFV in Yunnan province., Methods: In this study, 326 tissue samples were collected from different regions in Yunnan province from 2015 to 2021. A reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), sequences analysis, and phylogenetic analysis were performed for the pathogenic detection and analysis of these 326 clinical specimens., Results: Approximately 3.37% (11/326) of specimens tested positive for the CSFV by RT-PCR, which is lower than that of other regions of China. Sequence analysis of the partial E2 sequences of eleven CSFV strains showed that they shared 89.0-100.0% nucleotide (nt) and 95.0-100.0% amino acid (aa) homology, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis showed that these novel isolates belonged to the subgenotypes 2.1c and 2.1d, with subgenotype 2.1c being predominant., Conclusions: The CSFV was sporadic in China's Yunnan province from 2015 to 2021. Background: Hypertrophic scars (HS) represent one of the most common clinical challenges due to unsatisfactory therapeutic results. HS formation is associated with the abnormal activation of fibroblasts and their excessive fibrotic behavior. Glycolysis dysregulation has been shown to participate in the incidence and progression of various fibrotic diseases and shows potential as a means of controlling HS formation. This work aimed to discuss the impact of augmented glycolysis on HS and to propose a method for controlling HS formation through glycolysis regulation., Methods: Here, augmented glycolysis was confirmed together with enhanced fibrotic activity in both HS fibroblasts (HFs) and HS tissues, and the suppression of glycolysis also attenuated fibroblast activation. We also introduced IR780, a heptamethine cyanine dye, to regulate glycolysis for the control of HS formation., Results: In vitro , cell studies indicated that IR780 significantly down-regulated glycolysis and suppressed the fibrotic activity of HFs. In vivo, the intralesional injection of IR780 into rabbit HS models led to the downregulation of glycolysis and the control of HS formation. Furthermore, IR780 accumulated preferentially in activated fibroblasts in both in vitro and in vivo studies, and thus specifically downregulated glycolysis and efficiently controlled fibrosis by targeting activated fibroblasts., Conclusions: This work identified a strategy for controlling fibrosis and HS formation from the perspective of glycolysis regulation with IR780 targeting of activated fibroblasts., (© The Author(s) 2022. In recent years all-solid-state sodium-ion batteries (SS-SIBs) have drawn significant attention due to their potential to be safer and lower cost than lithium-ion batteries. However, the lack of sodium solid-state electrolytes with high ionic conductivity has become one of the major challenges. Here, with first-principles computation we took NaCuZrS 3 , consisting of earth-abundant and environmentally benign elements only, as an example to study Na-ion transport in the post-perovskite-like structure and used computation-guided design to improve its potential as a solid-state electrolyte. With ab initio molecular dynamics simulation and nudged elastic band calculation, we studied possible diffusion mechanisms in this material and found that Na ion interstitials have a favorable migration barrier of 0.22 eV, which is among the smallest in the literature reported values. Considering the large formation energy of Frenkel defects, we proposed doping strategy to introduce extra Na interstitials in the material. The water wettability of coal dust was very important for dust control when using water-based dust suppressant materials. The coal dust wettability strengthened by surface active ionic liquid was studied in this paper. The surface activity of ten ionic liquids with different anions Cl - , Br - , [BF 4 ] - , [NTf 2 ] - and cations [HOEtMIm] + , [C n mim] + (n = 4, 12, 14, 16) was studied by surface tension test. The water wettability of raw coal dust can be improved individually by adding ionic liquid to water or pre-treating coal dust by ionic liquids. The wettability of lignite was improved little, but that of bituminous coal and anthracite were improved much. The dual strengthened effects of ionic liquids on coal dust wettability were studied by the wetting results between ionic liquids solutions and ionic liquid-treated coal samples. The wettability of lignite can be strengthened under the combined action of [HOEtMIm][NTf 2 ] and [C 12 MIm]Br, while other dual effects were not satisfactory. All ionic liquids combination had strengthened effects on the wettability of bituminous coal and anthracite, especially the [C 12 MIm]Br treatment and [C 12 MIm]Br solutions together had the best dual effects. The functional groups results indicated that the hydrophilic oxygen-containing functional groups in treated coal samples increased, the hydrophobic aliphatic hydrocarbon functional groups decreased and part of ionic liquids were adsorbed on the coal surface. Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is a common neurological complication following surgery and general anesthesia, especially in elderly patients. Severe cases delay patient discharge, affect the patient's quality of life after surgery, and are heavy burdens to society. In addition, as the population ages, surgery is increasingly used for older patients and those with higher prevalences of complications. This trend presents a huge challenge to the current healthcare system. Although studies on POCD are ongoing, the underlying pathogenesis is still unclear due to conflicting results and lack of evidence. According to existing studies, the occurrence and development of POCD are related to multiple factors. Among them, the pathogenesis of neuroinflammation in POCD has become a focus of research in recent years, and many clinical and preclinical studies have confirmed the correlation between neuroinflammation and POCD. In this article, we reviewed how central nervous system inflammation occurred, and how it could lead to POCD with changes in peripheral circulation and the pathological pathways between peripheral circulation and the central nervous system (CNS). Furthermore, we proposed some potential therapeutic targets, diagnosis and treatment strategies at the cellular and molecular levels, and clinical applications. Searching for magnetic silicide thin films has long been a hot topic in condensed matter physics and materials science based on their fundamental physics and promising device applications. Here we report a systematic study on the structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of EuSi 2 thin films on the Si(111) surface by ab initio calculations. Total energy calculations show that the EuSi 2 thin film in AA stacking is more favorable than that in AB or ABC stacking. The Eu 2 + ions are coupled ferromagnetically within each layer and antiferromagnetically across the adjacent silicene layers with a large local spin moment of 6.96-7.00 μ B derived from the Eu-4f orbital electrons. Electronic band structure calculations indicate that the monolayer EuSi 2 thin film is a semiconductor with an indirect surface band gap of 0.45 eV, while the multilayer EuSi 2 thin films exhibit metallic behavior. These findings provide a systematic understanding of rare-earth metal silicides on the Si surface and will provide guidance for Si-based nanoelectronics and spintronics.

Background: Hypertrophic scar formation may be related to cutaneous neurogenic inflammation (CNI) through the substance P-neurokinin 1 receptor (SP-NK1R) signaling pathway. As a widely used drug in aesthetic clinical work, botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) has a therapeutic effect on scars, but the actual mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to clarify the potential mechanism by which BTX-A inhibits CNI in hypertrophic scars both in vitro and in vivo ., Methods: Tissue samples were obtained from surgical excisions. Immunohistological analysis was used to locate SP in human hypertrophic scars and normal skin. RT-PCR and western blot analysis were used to evaluate the expression of collagens after SP/BTX-A treatment. A rabbit ear scar model was used to explore the in vivo effect of BTX-A on scar treatment., Results: SP and NK-1R were overexpressed in hypertrophic scars compared to normal skin tissues. Collagen secretion of hypertrophic scar-derived fibroblasts increased with increasing doses of SP. However, BTX-A may downregulate collagen expression through SP-NK1R pathway with or without the presence of SP inducing agent capsaicin. Meanwhile, SP inhibited the expression of NK-1R, and this inhibition was blocked by pretreatment with BTX-A. In vivo , intralesional BTX-A injection can also reduce the volume of scars and inhibit collagen secretion. C2C12 cells were cultured on medium containing fluoride (0, 1, and 2.5 mmol/L) for 48 h to investigate the effect of excessive fluoride on T helper 17 (Th17)-related cytokine expression profile in skeletal muscle cells, and the culture supernatant was collected and subjected for the detection of 18 cytokines via Th17 array. Results showed that compared with the control group, no differential expression proteins (DEPs) were found in the 1 mmol/L fluoride group; however, eight DEPs were upregulated in the 2.5 mmol/L fluoride group, including macrophage inflammatory protein-3α (MIP-3α), interleukin-21 (IL-21), IL-13, IL-17F, IL-28A, transforming growth factor type beta 1 (TGF-β1), IL-23, and IL-17A. In addition, five DEPs (MIP-3α, IL-13, IL-21, TGF-β1, and IL-17F) were upregulated in the 2.5 mmol/L fluoride group compared with the 1 mmol/L fluoride group. Gene ontology analysis revealed that the positive regulation of cytokine production, cytokine activity, receptor ligand activity, and cytokine receptor binding accounted for high percent of DEPs present. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis showed that these DEPs primarily involved 12 pathways enriched in the cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction and IL-17 signaling pathway after 2.5 mmol/L fluoride treatment. The results indicated that fluoride might induce cytotoxicity by disturbing Th17-related cytokine expression.

The present study explores the viability of using tablets in assessing early word comprehension by means of a two-alternative forced-choice task. Forty-nine 18-20-month-old Norwegian toddlers performed a touch-based word recognition task, in which they were prompted to identify the labeled target out of two displayed items on a touchscreen tablet. In each trial, the distractor item was either semantically related (e.g., dog-cat) or unrelated (e.g., dog-airplane) to the target. Our results show that toddlers as young as 18 months can engage meaningfully with a tablet-based assessment, with minimal verbal instruction and child-administrator interaction. Toddlers performed better in the semantically unrelated condition than in the related condition, suggesting that their word representations are still semantically coarse at this age. Furthermore, parental reports of comprehension, using the Norwegian version of the MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventories, predicted toddlers' performance, with parent-child agreement stronger in the semantically unrelated condition, indicating that parents declare a word to be known by their child if it is understood at a coarse representational level. This study provides among the earliest evidence that remote data collection in 18-20 month-old toddlers is viable, as comparable results were observed from both in-laboratory and online administration of the touchscreen recognition task., (© 2021 The Authors. Bovine tuberculosis (bTB) is a global zoonotic disease that has detrimental economic impacts worldwide. The NOS2A gene plays a key role in immunological control of many infectious diseases. However, research on the association between NOS2A polymorphisms and bTB infection in Holstein cattle reared on the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau of China is scarce. This study investigated a possible linkage between NOS2A polymorphisms and risk of developing bTB in Chinese Holstein cattle. The NOS2A gene was genotyped in 144 bTB-infected Holstein cows and 139 healthy controls were genotyped through nucleotide sequencing. Ten single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected, six of which were associated with susceptibility/resistance patterns of bTB. Furthermore, the C/T genotypes of 671 and 2793, and T/T genotype of E22 (+15) were significantly associated with susceptibility risk; the G/A genotype of 2857, T/T genotype of E9 (+65), and C/C genotype of E9 (+114) probably increased resistance to bTB. In addition, the haplotypes of NOS2A-2 and NOS2A-9 were risk factors for bTB susceptibility, while the NOS2A-5 and NOS2A-8 haplotypes were contributing protective variants against tuberculosis. There is a significant association between variation in SNPs of NOS2A and tuberculosis susceptibility/resistance pattern. These findings suggest that substitution of genetic selection would be helpful for eradicating bTB. Using first-principles calculations, we identify a robust R30° reconstruction of a Si3 trimer bilayer on the Si(111) surface with a La coverage of 2/3 monolayer. Each surface unit cell contains two Si3 trimers and two La atoms, where the upper Si3 trimer is located just above the lower one with a rotation of about 60°, while two La atoms with different heights are distributed between the Si3 trimers and located on the T4 top site of the Si(111) surface, forming a honeycomb-like network structure. We find that the two La atoms have different valence states, La2+ and La3+, respectively. The high structural stability is attributed to the lower La atom saturating all the three dangling bonds of the upper Si3 trimer, while the higher La atom compensates two electrons to the lower Si3 trimer. The electronic band structure and band-decomposed charge density distribution show a semiconducting characteristic with a small surface band gap of 42 meV. Moreover, simulated STM images show a good structural match with the recent experimental observations.

Objective: This study was to identify the perioperative related risk factors of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) in elderly patients undergoing elective colorectal surgery, which will provide new insight for better prevention and intervention of PPCs in elderly patients., Methods: A retrospective study involving 445 patients (age ≥65), who registered in Shengjing Hospital affiliated to China Medical University for elective colorectal surgery from October 2014 to March 2017, was conducted. Clinical data, including demographic information, medical history, preoperative examination, and surgery-related factors, were analyzed and compared between the patient group with PPCs and the group without PPCs. t-test or χ 2 test was performed for statistical analysis between the 2 groups. Binary logistic regression analysis was further employed to identify the potential independent risk factors of PPCs., Results: Among the 445 patients enrolled in the study, 49 (11%) had PPCs, while 396 (89%) did not. The main risk factors of PPC occurrence in the elderly patients undergoing elective colorectal surgery included older age (age ≥75 years), ASA >II, hypertension, myocardial ischemia, basic pulmonary diseases, laparotomy, blood transfusion, preoperative hemoglobin <100 g/L, and albumin <35 g/L. Laparotomy (compared with laparoscope) and ASA >II were independent risk factors for the increased incidence of PPCs., Conclusion: More attention should be paid to patients with older age and ASA >II in elective colorectal surgery. Choice of laparoscopic operation, proper treatment of hypertension, myocardial ischemia, basic pulmonary diseases, and correction of anemia and nutritional status can effectively reduce the incidence of PPCs. An adequate and comprehensive evaluation of the potential risk factors related to PPCs is required before surgery.

COVID-19 has spread globally with over 90,000,000 incidences and 1,930,000 deaths by Jan 11, 2021, which poses a big threat to public health. It is urgent to distinguish COVID-19 from common pneumonia. In this study, we reported multiple clinical feature analyses on COVID-19 in Inner Mongolia for the first time. We dynamically monitored multiple clinical features of all 75 confirmed COVID-19 patients, 219 pneumonia patients, and 68 matched healthy people in Inner Mongolia. Then, we studied the association between COVID-19 and clinical characteristics, based on which to construct a novel logistic regression model for predicting COVID-19. As a result, among the tested clinical characteristics, WBC, hemoglobin, C-reactive protein (CRP), ALT, and Cr were significantly different between COVID-19 patients and patients in other groups. The area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was 0.869 for the logistic regression model using multiple factors associated with COVID-19. Furthermore, the CRP reaction showed five different time-series patterns with one-peak and double-peak modes. In conclusion, our study identified a few clinical characteristics significantly different between COVID-19 patients and others in Inner Mongolia. Plant saponins are important natural product with biologically active. However, the metabolism of these compounds has rarely been studied due to their low bioavailability and the complexity of their metabolite structures. In this study, ultra-performance liquid chromatography/Fusion Lumos Orbitrap mass spectrometry was used to analyze the metabolites of hederasaponin B in vivo, and its possible metabolic pathways were proposed. After oral administration of the parent drug, a total of 47 metabolites are identified in rat feces (42), urine (11), and plasma (9) samples. These metabolites resulted from the metabolic processes in phases I and II reactions involved in deglycosylation, hydroxylation, acetylation, oxidation, gluconalciation and glycosylations. Deglycosylation is the main metabolic pathway (accounts for 52.46 % of all metabolites in feces samples). Among the identified metabolites, four were glycosylated (deprotonated precursors at m/z = 1335.7, 1365.7, 1467.9, and 1379.6) with higher molecular weight than the parent drug . These glycosylated compounds account for 11.55 % of the metabolites in rat feces according to the semi-quantitative chromatographic peak areas. Since its first outbreak, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been rapidly spreading worldwide and caused a global pandemic. Rapid and early detection is essential to contain COVID-19. Here, we first developed a deep learning (DL) integrated radiomics model for end-to-end identification of COVID-19 using CT scans and then validated its clinical feasibility. We retrospectively collected CT images of 386 patients (129 with COVID-19 and 257 with other community-acquired pneumonia) from three medical centers to train and externally validate the developed models. A pre-trained DL algorithm was utilized to automatically segment infected lesions (ROIs) on CT images which were used for feature extraction. Five feature selection methods and four machine learning algorithms were utilized to develop radiomics models. Trained with features selected by L1 regularized logistic regression, classifier multi-layer perceptron (MLP) demonstrated the optimal performance with AUC of 0.922 (95% CI 0.856-0.988) and 0.959 (95% CI 0.910-1.000), the same sensitivity of 0.879, and specificity of 0.900 and 0.887 on internal and external testing datasets, which was equivalent to the senior radiologist in a reader study. Additionally, diagnostic time of DL-MLP was more efficient than radiologists (38 s vs 5.15 min). With an adequate performance for identifying COVID-19, DL-MLP may help in screening of suspected cases.

The photoelectric hybrid network has been proposed to achieve the ultrahigh bandwidth, lower delay, and less power consumption for chip multiprocessor (CMP) systems. However, a large number of optical elements used in optical networks-on-chip (ONoCs) generate high transmission loss which will influence network performance severely and increase power consumption. In this paper, the Dijkstra algorithm is adopted to realize adaptive routing with minimum transmission loss of link and reduce the output power of the link transmitter in mesh-based ONoCs. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the transmission loss of a link in optimized power control based on the Dijkstra algorithm could be maximally reduced compared with traditional power control based on the dimensional routing algorithm. Additionally, it has a greater advantage in saving the average output power of optical transmitter compared to the adaptive power control in previous studies, while the network size expands. With the aid of simulation software OPNET, the network performance simulations in an optimized network revealed that the end-to-end (ETE) latency and throughput are not vastly reduced in regard to a traditional network. Hence, the optimized power control proposed in this paper can greatly reduce the power consumption of s network without having a big impact on network performance.

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are bacteria derived bio-based polymers that are synthesised under limited conditions of nutritional elements with excess carbon sources. Among the members of PHAs, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate- co -4-hydroxybutyrate) [(P(3HB- co -4HB)] emerges as an attractive biomaterial to be applied in medical applications owing to its desirable mechanical and physical properties, non-genotoxicity and biocompatibility eliciting appropriate host tissue responses. The tailorable physical and chemical properties and easy surface functionalisation of P(3HB- co -4HB) increase its practicality to be developed as functional medical substitutes. However, its applicability is sometimes limited due to its hydrophobic nature due to fewer bio-recognition sites. In this review, we demonstrate how surface modifications of PHAs, mainly P(3HB- co -4HB), will overcome these limitations and facilitate their use in diverse medical applications. The integration of nanotechnology has drastically enhanced the functionality of P(3HB- co -4HB) biomaterials for application in complex biological environments of the human body. The design of versatile P(3HB- co -4HB) materials with surface modifications promise a non-cytotoxic and biocompatible material without inducing severe inflammatory responses for enhanced effective alternatives in healthcare biotechnology. The enticing work carried out with P(3HB- co -4HB) promises to be one of the next-generation materials in biomedicines which will facilitate translation into the clinic in the future.

Eimeria tenella is an obligate intracellular parasite of the chicken cecum; it brings huge economic loss to the chicken industry. Enolase is a multifunctional glycolytic enzyme involved in many processes of parasites, such as infection and migration. In this study, the effect of diclazuril on the expression of enolase in second-generation merozoites of E. tenella (EtENO) was reported. The prokaryotic expression plasmid pET-28a-EtENO was constructed and transformed into Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3). Then, it was subjected to expression under the induction of isopropyl-β-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside. The expressed products were identified and purified. The purified EtENO protein was used for antibody preparation. The EtENO mRNA and protein expression levels were analyzed via real-time PCR and Western blotting. Localization of EtENO on the merozoites was examined by immunofluorescence technique. The mRNA and protein expression levels of EtENO were decreased by 36.3 and 40.36%, respectively, by diclazuril treatment. EtENO distributed in the surface, cytoplasm, and nucleus of the infected/control group. With diclazuril treatment, it was significantly reduced in the surface and cytoplasm and even disappeared in the nucleus of the infected/diclazuril group. These observations suggested that EtENO may play an important role in mechanism of diclazuril anticoccidial action and be a potential drug target for the intervention with E. tenella infection., (Copyright © 2020. Biomaterial scaffolds play crucial role to promote cell proliferation and foster the regeneration of new tissues. The progress in material science has paved the way for the generation of ingenious biomaterials. However, these biomaterials require further optimization to be effectively used in existing clinical treatments. It is crucial to develop biomaterials which mimics structure that can be actively involved in delivering signals to cells for the formation of the regenerated tissue. In this research we nanoengineered a functional scaffold to support the proliferation of myoblast cells. Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate- co -4-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB- co -4HB)] copolymer is chosen as scaffold material owing to its desirable mechanical and physical properties combined with good biocompatibility, thus eliciting appropriate host tissue responses. In this study P(3HB- co -4HB) copolymer was biosynthesized using Cupriavidus malaysiensis USMAA1020 transformant harboring additional PHA synthase gene, and the viability of a novel P(3HB- co -4HB) electrospun nanofiber scaffold, surface functionalized with RGD peptides, was explored. In order to immobilize RGD peptides molecules onto the P(3HB- co -4HB) nanofibers surface, an aminolysis reaction was performed. The nanoengineered scaffolds were characterized using SEM, organic elemental analysis (CHN analysis), FTIR, surface wettability and their in vitro degradation behavior was evaluated. The cell culture study using H9c2 myoblast cells was conducted to assess the in vitro cellular response of the engineered scaffold. Our results demonstrated that nano-P(3HB- co -4HB)-RGD scaffold possessed an average fiber diameter distribution between 200 and 300 nm, closely biomimicking, from a morphological point of view, the structural ECM components, thus acting as potential ECM analogs. This study indicates that the surface conjugation of biomimetic RGD peptide to the nano-P(3HB- co -4HB) fibers increased the surface wettability (15 ± 2°) and enhanced H9c2 myoblast cells attachment and proliferation. Purpose This study introduces a framework to produce very short versions of the MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventories (CDIs) by combining the Bayesian-inspired approach introduced by Mayor and Mani (2019) with an item response theory-based computerized adaptive testing that adapts to the ability of each child, in line with Makransky et al. (2016). Method We evaluated the performance of our approach-dynamically selecting maximally informative words from the CDI and combining parental response with prior vocabulary data-by conducting real-data simulations using four CDI versions having varying sample sizes on Wordbank-the online repository of digitalized CDIs: American English (a very large data set), Danish (a large data set), Beijing Mandarin (a medium-sized data set), and Italian (a small data set). Results Real-data simulations revealed that correlations exceeding .95 with full CDI administrations were reached with as few as 15 test items, with high levels of reliability, even when languages (e.g., Italian) possessed few digitalized administrations on Wordbank. Conclusions The current approach establishes a generic framework that produces very short (less than 20 items) adaptive early vocabulary assessments-hence considerably reducing their administration time. This approach appears to be robust even when CDIs have smaller samples in online repositories, for example, with around 50 samples per month-age.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify the incidence rate of Acute kidney injury (AKI) in our center and predict in-hospital mortality and long-term survival after heart transplantation (HTx)., Methods: This single-center, retrospective study from October 2009 and March 2020 analyzed the pre-, intra-, and postoperative characteristics of 95 patients who underwent HTx. AKI was defined according to the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria. Risk factors were analyzed by multivariable logistic regression models. The log-rank test was used to compare long-term survival., Results: Thirty-three (34.7%) patients developed AKI. The mortality in hospital in HTx patients with and without AKI were 21.21 and 6.45%, respectively (P < 0.05). Recipients in AKI who required renal replacement therapy (RRT) had a hospital mortality rate of 43.75% compared to 6.45% in those without AKI or RRT (P < 0.0001). A long cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) time (OR:11.393, 95% CI: 2.183 to 59.465, P = 0.0039) was positively related to the occurrence of AKI. A high intraoperative urine volume (OR: 0.031, 95% CI: 0.005 to 0.212, P = 0.0004) was negatively correlated with AKI. AKI requiring RRT (OR, 11.348; 95% CI, 2.418-53.267, P = 0.002) was a risk factor for mortality in hospital. Overall survival in patients without AKI at 1 and 3 years was not different from that in patients with AKI (P = 0.096)., Conclusions: AKI is common after HTx. AKI requiring RRT could contribute powerful prognostic information to predict mortality in hospital. A long CPB time and low intraoperative urine volume are associated with the occurrence of AKI.

Transition metal phosphides hold novel metallic, semimetallic, and semiconducting behaviors. Here we report by ab initio calculations a systematical study on the structural and electronic properties of [Formula: see text] (M = Cr, Mo, W) phosphides in monoclinic C2/c ([Formula: see text]) symmetry. Their dynamical stabilities have been confirmed by phonon modes calculations. Detailed analysis of the electronic band structures and density of states reveal that [Formula: see text] is a semiconductor with an indirect band gap of 0.47 eV in association with the p orbital of P atoms, while [Formula: see text] is a Dirac semimetal with an isolated nodal point at the [Formula: see text] point and [Formula: see text] is a topological nodal line semimetal with a closed nodal ring inside the first Brillouin zone relative to the d orbital of Mo and W atoms, respectively. Comparison of the phosphides with group VB, VIB and VIIB transition metals shows a trend of change from metallic to semiconducting behavior from [Formula: see text] to VIIB-[Formula: see text] compounds. These results provide a systematical understandings on the distinct electronic properties of these compounds.
