Dopaminergic neuronal loss is the main pathological character of Parkinson's disease (PD). Abnormal tau hyperphosphorylation will lead to dopaminergic neuronal loss. An indazole derivative 6-amino-1-methyl-indazole (AMI) successfully synthesized to inhibit tau hyperphosphorylation may exert a neuroprotective effect. The in vitro study showed that AMI effectively increased cell viability and alleviated the apoptosis induced by MPP + in SH-SY5Y cells. In addition, AMI treatment significantly decreased the expression of p-tau and upstream kinases GSK-3β. In the MPTP-induced PD mice models, we found AMI apparently preserved dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra and improved the PD behavioral symptoms. Objective: To explore the clinical effect of the application of CT navigation in the treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis with minimally invasive surgery - transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF)., Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 30 patients with lumbar spondylolisthesis who were continuously treated in linyi central hospital from May 2018 to March 2019.The patients were divided into two groups,15 patients treated with MIS-TLIF with the aid of CT navigation during the operation were included into an observation group. Another 15 patients were treated with open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion as the control group. The baseline information, including gender, age and course of disease, perioperative period and imaging conditions, and VAS and ODI scores of patients in the two groups were collected and analyzed., Results: Fifteen patients were included into the observation group, including 9 male and 6 female patients with an average age of 52.60 ± 6.31 and a course of disease of 16.33 ± 6.00 months. The other 15 patients were included into the observation group, including seven male and eight female patients with an average age of 52.87 ± 7.38 and a course of disease of 19.13 ± 9.89 months. The difference in the gender, age and course of disease between the two groups had no statistical significance ( P > 0.05). However, the difference in the duration of operation and intraoperative blood loss between the two groups had statistical significance ( P < 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in wound complications, neurological complications, preoperative slippage rate, postoperative slippage rate, slippage reduction rate and screw placement accuracy ( P > 0.05). VAS scores of the two groups were statistically significant from six months after surgery (P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in ODI between the two groups at any time point (P >, 0.05). VAS and ODI scores were improved at each time point compared with those before surgery., Conclusion: The minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar fusion performed with the aid of CT navigation during the operation shortens the duration of operation and the amount of bleeding, reduces the back pain, is beneficial to the early postoperative functional exercise, and speeds up the postoperative recovery., Competing Interests: Conflicts of Interest: None., (Copyright: © Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences.)

Objective: To report the diagnosis and treatment of an imported case of schistosomiasis haematobia., Methods: The patient's medical records were collected, and the clinical features, laboratory diagnosis, epidemiological survey, diagnosis and treatment were analyzed., Results: The patient had arrived to Sudan and Egypt for many times and had a history of contact with the infested water. After returning to China, the patient reported a gross hematuria with unknown causes. Cystoscopy showed neoplasms in the bladder, and pathologic examinations showed chronic granulomatous inflammation with infiltration of plenty of plasma cells, and parasite eggs. Serological test showed positive for the dipstick dye immunoassay, and the microscopic examination of urine sediment revealed Schistosoma haematobium eggs. Following praziquantel treatment for a month, S. haematobium eggs were still detected in the urine. The case was treated with praziquantel again and cured without adverse reactions., Conclusions: Health education should be strengthened among China-aid-African workers to improve the awareness of self-protection. In addition, the diagnosis and treatment should be improved in medical professionals to achieve a timely definitive diagnosis.

Purpose: An often under-recognized late manifestation of prostate adenocarcinoma (PCa) is the development of treatment-related neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC). The aim of this study is to identify the risk factors related to survival after NEPC diagnosis (NEPCS) and time from initial diagnosis of PCa to development of NEPC (TTNEPC)., Patients and Methods: A literature search on NEPC was performed using databases such as MEDLINE and EMBASE. Studies were eligible if outcomes data (NEPCS and/or TTNEPC) were reported in patients with a prior history of PCa and histopathologically confirmed NEPC. NEPCS and TTNEPC were evaluated using the Cox regression model with the robust sandwich estimates of the covariance matrix., Results: There were 54 eligible publications, contributing 123 patients. The median TTNEPC was 20 months. In multivariable analyses, the Gleason score was significantly associated with shorter TTNEPC (hazard ratio [HR], 1.66; P = .032). The median NEPCS was 7 months. In multivariable analyses, the number of organs with metastatic disease at NEPC was significantly associated with shorter NEPCS (HR, 3.31; P = .001). Type of treatment after NEPC was significantly associated with longer NEPCS, with HRs of 0.66 (radiotherapy v palliative therapy; P = .034), 0.38 (chemotherapy v palliative therapy; P = .018), and 0.29 (chemoradiotherapy v palliative therapy; P = .012), respectively., Conclusion: Treatment-related NEPC is an often under-recognized late manifestation of PCa with poor prognosis. Our study found that Gleason score was the only independent factor contributing to TTNEPC. Once NEPC is diagnosed, type of treatment and the number of organs with metastatic disease were the most important factors related to survival., (© 2014 by American Society of Clinical Oncology.)
