Introduction: Complete isolation of the left atrial posterior wall (LAPW) is challenging owing to overlapping epicardial conduction. Peak frequency (PF) is a novel parameter that focuses on near- and far-field electrogram components. In this study, we aimed to determine whether transmural block completion is related to the ablation site PF., Methods: We analyzed 44 consecutive patients undergoing initial LAPW isolation (LAPWI) between June 2023 and February 2024. Pre-LAPWI and PF maps were obtained using an HD-Grid catheter. In 17 of the 44 patients (Group-1), LAPWI was performed conventionally. In the remaining 27 patients (Group-2), PF-guided LAPWI was applied based on Group-1 results., Results: In Group-1, the left atrial (LA) roof and floor line success rates were 58.8% and 76.5%, respectively. The average PF value in the roof lines of patients with a completed block line was significantly higher than that of the remaining patients (286.6 ± 29.3 Hz vs. 236.1 ± 40.9 Hz, p = .012), but the floor lines were similar. In Group-2, relatively high PF values were targeted to achieve complete block of the LA roof and floor lines, following the results obtained in Group-1. The LA roof line success rates (92.6% vs. 58.8%, p = .007), total number of radiofrequency (RF) applications (22.7 ± 5.6 vs. 27.6 ± 8.5, p = .03), and procedural time (32.6 ± 18.3 vs. 47.9 ± 25.6 min, p = .03) differed between Group-1 and Group-2., Conclusion: Using a PF map for determining the optimal ablation line for LAPWI by RF catheter ablation is feasible., (© 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

Purpose: To conduct a longitudinal evaluation of sites grafted with autogenous bone prior to implant placement using a dental cast with a 3D modeling system., Materials and Methods: A total of nine patients underwent implant treatment with bone grafting for anterior missing teeth. Informed consent was obtained from each patient. Casts were made and evaluated at three time periods, including before bone grafting (Pre BG), 4 or 5 months after grafting (Post BG), and 4 or 5 months after implant placement (Post IP). 3D data of these casts were acquired using a 3D digital scanner and then superimposed with reference to the remaining teeth. The volume of the anterior area of the cast was evaluated Pre BG and Post BG., Results: Accuracy of superimposition on the remaining teeth was between 20 and 50 µm. Horizontal differences Post BG and Post IP were 0.1 to 1.6 mm. The volume Post IP decreased by 14% to 38% compared to the volume Post BG., Conclusions: This 3D modeling technique allowed 3D evaluation before and after bone grafting. Results suggested that the volume of the maxilla was sequentially decreased after bone grafting.

Fungal phytochemicals derived from higher fungi, particularly those from the culinary-medicinal genus Hericium, have gained significant attention in drug discovery and healthcare. This review aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the chemical structures, biosynthetic pathways, biological activities, and pharmacological properties of monomeric compounds isolated from Hericium species. Over the past 34 years, 253 metabolites have been identified from various Hericium species, including cyathane diterpenes, alkaloids, benzofurans, chromenes, phenols, pyrones, steroids, and other miscellaneous compounds. Detailed investigations into the biosynthesis of erinacines, a type of cyathane diterpene, have led to the discovery of novel cyathane diterpenes. Extensive research has highlighted the biological activities and pharmacological properties of Hericium-derived compounds, with particular emphasis on their neuroprotective and neurotrophic effects, immunomodulatory capabilities, anti-cancer activity, antioxidant properties, and antimicrobial actions. Erinacine A, in particular, has been extensively studied. Genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic analyses of Hericium species have facilitated the discovery of new compounds and provided insights into enzymatic reactions through genome mining. The diverse chemical structures and biological activities of Hericium compounds underpin their potential applications in medicine and as dietary supplements. This review not only advances our understanding of Hericium compounds but also encourages further research into Hericium species within the realms of medicine, health, functional foods, and agricultural microbiology. The broad spectrum of compound types and their diverse biological activities present promising opportunities for the development of new pharmaceuticals and edible products., (Copyright © 2024 China Pharmaceutical University. Purpose: A new method is proposed for noninvasive detection of glucose in vivo using proton MR spectroscopy at 7 Tesla., Theory and Methods: The proposed method utilizes J-difference editing to uncover the resonance of beta-glucose (β-glc) at 3.23 ppm, which is strongly overlapped with choline. Calculations using the density matrix formalism are used to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio of the β-glc resonance at 3.23 ppm. The calculations are verified using phantom and in vivo data collected at 7 Tesla., Results: The proposed method allows observation of the glucose signal at 3.23 ppm in the human brain spectrum. Additional co-edited resonances of N-acetylaspartylglutamatate and glutathione are also detected in the same experiment., Conclusion: The proposed method does not require carbon ( 13 C)- labeled glucose injections and 13 C hardware; as such, it has a potential to provide valuable information on intrinsic glucose concentration in the human brain in vivo.
