Objective: To describe an implementation study protocol for an intervention based on educational guidelines focused on seven self-care behaviors, through phone calls to individuals with type 2 diabetes., Method: We will conduct a hybrid type 1 effectiveness-implementation pragmatic randomized clinical trial, with 198 individuals with type 2 diabetes on insulin therapy, from the Glycemic Self-Monitoring Program of two Primary Health Care in the city of São Paulo and three in Campinas, located in the state of Sao Paulo. Patients will be allocated in a 1:1 ratio to either the intervention or control group. Both groups will receive standard care, with the intervention group also receiving a phone call. During the call, nurses will provide guidance based on seven self-care behaviors, known as The ADCES7 Self-Care Behaviors™. Evaluations will happen at the baseline, and after 3- and 6-months post initiation of the trial. Glycemic levels and adherence to self-care behaviors will be compared before and after the intervention using multiple linear regression models. Through interviews with participants from the intervention group, implementation determinants based on the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation-Behavior (COM-B) model, and implementation outcomes feasibility, acceptability, and appropriateness will be evaluated., Expected Outcomes: We will evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention while exploring contextual conditions for its implementation in clinical practice of Primary Health Care. This study will provide preliminary evidence on the effectiveness of educational guidance through nurse-led telephone calls, as well as implementation determinants and outcomes in the clinical practice of Primary Health Care. Its results are important for expanding this assistance in locations where nursing consultation for people with diabetes is absent, hindered, or restricted. Objective: to correlate socio-contextual aspects, physical vulnerability and quality of life of older persons in the community in different situations of family care., Methods: epidemiological, a cross-sectional and analytical study, with elderly people in the community (n=769), with application of the instruments: Vulnerable Elders Survey-13 (VES-13), World Health Organization Quality of Life for Older Persons (WHOQOL-OLD) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF); and socio-contextual data questionnaire., Results: the population assessed presented an average of regular quality of life in both the WHOQOL-BREF and the WHOQOL-OLD. Older non-vulnerable persons (62.2%) and those with close family contact (82.6%) have a better quality of life than the vulnerable (p<0.0001)., Conclusion: lower quality of life scores and more distant families are related to vulnerable elderly people; thus, the assessment of family proximity and physical vulnerability of older persons is shown to be an important factor in improving quality of life.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence, consequences and factors associated with drug use among individuals over 50 years of age, from the perspective of their families, with particularly reference to cocaine use., Methods: Cross-sectional study based on secondary data with 624 family members of substance users who sought family support in 14 units of the Recomeço Família Program in São Paulo, Brazil., Results: The participants were predominately men, aged 50 to 59 years (68%); cocaine users (inhaled and/ or smoked); living alone; with a low level of education and were unemployed. They were likely to use family money to pay for their substance use, with a history of theft and aggression against strangers, and were not in treatment. Unlike other participants [≥ 60 years (31.1%)]; who were better educated and retired. In this latter group, 32.8% are alcohol users, 14.8% cocaine users (inhaled and smoked), 32.6% has physically assaulted their family, 39.7% had assaulted someone else and 18.3% had stolen objects or money from home., Conclusions: The population has peculiar characteristics of vulnerability (cocaine use and violence) that remain under investigated; not only do routes into treatment for older adults (≥ 60) but appropriate treatment packages need to be developed too.

Objective: to outline the profile and understand the expectations and needs of family members who seek compulsory hospitalization for drug-using members., Method: Mixed research; data collected involving 101 medical records and semi-structured interviews with 26 family members. SPSS software and content analysis was used., Results: The sample was characterized predominantly by women. Most users had other treatment modalities. Significant associations were observed between the request for hospitalization, the presence of aggressiveness, and other behaviors typical of harmful drug use for requesting compulsory hospitalization. The categories were: The difficult coexistence with the user; the journey of family members to "bring the user back to life"; Expectations and needs regarding compulsory hospitalization., Conclusion: The study provided a broader view of the complexity and inter-subjectivities of family systems in the face of the drug cycle, promoting discussions and strategies for multidisciplinary services in the comprehensive care of these families.

Objective: to understand the structure and dynamics of families in the late stage of the life cycle that have a member with intellectual disability., Method: qualitative research using the Calgary Family Assessment Model as methodological framework. The study had 38 participants, distributed into 10 families that had a member with intellectual disability and whose parents were elderly. The interviews were analyzed with content analysis technique., Results: the following analytical categories were evidenced: "living with intellectual disability", "communication as a strategy for encounter", "family isolation and the need for support" and "concerns about care in the future"., Conclusion: families in the late life cycle who had a member with intellectual disability are arranged in a structure that overloads a single caregiver (mother), has little support network, uses communication as an instrument for understanding themselves and the other, besides having difficulties in projecting the future.

Objective: To present a reflection on the forms of violence in health care settings and on preventive actions., Method: This is a theoretical reflection about the phenomenon of violence and its possible coping actions., Results: Nurses and other professionals working in health care environments may experience situations of aggression and disrespect through institutional or managerial violence, horizontal violence and patient violence., Final Considerations: Violent practices are not applicable in any workplace, especially in care settings. Actions or measures of control should be taken in pursuit of healthier environments and in harmony with the culture of peace.

Objective: to understand the meaning of the family's reintegration attributed by the family experiencing it and to construct a representative theoretical model of this experience., Method: this is a qualitative study, conducted with four families with a total of 20 interviewees, with Symbolic Interactionism as theoretical framework, Grounded Theory as methodological, participant observation and the experience of musical making, mediating the interview as strategies of data collection., Results: a comparative analysis of the data led to the identification of the main category and to the construction of the theoretical model TRYING TO REBUILD WHAT WAS BROKEN., Conclusion: the family experiencing reintegration lives a process of reconstruction that allows to revisit situations of abandonment and review the behavior of caring and re-meaning of family coexistence. For the health professional, this study invites to think about this theme and to review the concept of family, in order to create their own sense of care.

Objective: To reflect on technologies for the peace culture that can be used in family nursing., Method: Theoretical essay, based on the premises of non-violence and peace culture., Results: Four light technologies are singled out for the peace culture within families: nonviolent communication, qualified listening, conflict mediation, and restorative circles., Conclusion: The technologies proposed can be used by nurses to promote care and policies aiming at a peace culture and non-violence in families, with the objective of assisting in the obtainment of the well-being for family systems and their correlations.

The authors present the material currently being used in the orientation phase of the Pediatric Nursing I Course, which utilizes the student - centered teaching methodology, at the Nursing School of the São Paulo University.

Based upon the motives that led the group of instructors of pediatric nursing to adopt a new teaching methodology, the authors present the current characteristics of the Pediatric Nursing baccalaureate course of the University of São Paulo School of Nursing as well as the form in which the course is being implemented.

This work give informations about modalities of research in pediatric nursing realized to obtain academical title from 1975 to 1985, in Brazil.
