Phytohormones, epigenetic regulation and environmental factors regulate fruit ripening but their interplay during strawberry fruit ripening remains to be determined. In this study, bagged strawberry fruit exhibited delayed ripening compared with fruit grown in normal light, correlating with reduced abscisic acid (ABA) accumulation. Transcription of the key ABA catabolism gene, ABA 8'-hydroxylase FaCYP707A4, was induced in bagged fruit. With light exclusion whole genome DNA methylation levels were up-regulated, corresponding to a delayed ripening process, while DNA methylation levels in the promoter of FaCYP707A4 were suppressed, correlating with increases in transcript and decreased ABA content. Experiments indicated FaCRY1, a blue light receptor repressed in bagged fruit and FaAGO4, a key protein involved in RNA-directed DNA methylation, could bind to the promoter of FaCYP707A4. The interaction between FaCRY1 and FaAGO4, and an increased enrichment of FaAGO4 directed to the FaCYP707A4 promoter in fruit grown under light suggests FaCRY1 may influence FaAGO4 to modulate the DNA methylation status of the FaCYP707A4 promoter. Furthermore, transient overexpression of FaCRY1, or an increase in FaCRY1 transcription by blue light treatment, increases the methylation level of the FaCYP707A4 promoter, while transient RNA interference of FaCRY1 displayed opposite phenotypes. Objective. To assess potential variations in the absorbed dose between Chinese and Caucasian children exposed to 18 F-FDG PET scan and to investigate the factors contributing to dose differences, this work employed patient-specific phantoms and our compartment model for calculating the patient-specific absorbed dose in Chinese children. Approach. Data of 29 Chinese pediatric patients undergoing whole-body 18 F-FDG PET/CT studies were retrospectively collected, including PET images for activity distributions and corresponding CT images for organ segmentation and phantom construction. A biokinetic compartment model was implemented to obtain cumulated activities. Absorbed radiation dose for both CT and PET component were calculated using Monte Carlo simulations. Regression models were fitted to time integrated activity coefficient (TIAC) and organ absorbed dose for each patient. Main results. TIACs of all the organs in our compartment model and the organ dose for 12 organs were correlated with patients' weight. Young children have significantly large uptake in brain compared to adults. The distinctions of anatomical and biological characteristics between Chinese and Caucasian children contribute to variations in the absorbed dose of 18 F-FDG PET scans. PET contributed more in organ dose than CT did in most organs, especially in brain and bladder. The average effective dose (± SD) was 4.5 mSv (± 1.12 mSv), 7.8 mSv (± 3.2 mSv) and 12.3 mSv (± 3.5 mSv) from CT, PET and their sum respectively. PET contributed 1.7 times higher than CT. Significance. To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first attempt to estimate patient-specific radiation doses from PET/CT for Chinese pediatric patients. TIACs derived from our methodology in both age groups exhibited significant differences from the that reported in ICRP 128. Substantial differences in absorbed and effective doses were observed between Chinese and Caucasian children across all age groups. These disparities are attributed to markedly distinct anatomical and pharmacokinetic characteristics among adults and pediatric patients, and different racial groups. The application of data derived from adults to pediatric patients introduces considerable uncertainty. The imbalance of charge injection is considered to be a major factor that limits the device performance of cadmium-free quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). In this work, high-performance cadmium-free Cu─In─Zn─S(CIZS)-based QLEDs are designed and fabricated through tailoring interfacial energy level alignment and improving the balance of charge injection. This is achieved by introducing a bilayered hole-injection layer (HIL) of Cu-doped NiO x (Cu─NiO x )/Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly (styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS). High-quality Cu─NiO x film is prepared through a novel and straightforward sol-gel procedure. Multiple experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations show that the incorporation of Cu 2+ ions can regulate the energy level structure of NiO x and enhance the hole mobility. The state-of-art CIZS-based QLEDs with Cu─NiO x /PEDOT:PSS bilayered HIL exhibit the maximum external quantum efficiency of 6.04% and half-life time of 48 min, which is 1.3 times and four times of the device with only PEDOT:PSS HIL. The unavoidably positively and negatively charged defects at the interface between perovskite and electron transport layer (ETL) often lead to severe surface recombination and unfavorable energy level alignment in inverted perovskite solar cells (PerSCs). Inserting interlayers at this interface is an effective approach to eliminate charged defects. Herein, the macrocyclic molecule valinomycin (VM) with multiple active sites of ─C═O, ─NH, and ─O─ is employed as an interlayer at the perovskite/ETL contact to simultaneously eliminate positively and negatively charged defects. Combined with a series of theoretical calculations and experimental analyzes, it is demonstrated that the ─C═O and ─O─ groups in VM can immobilize the uncoordinated Pb 2+ to manage the positively charged defect and the formation of N─H···I hydrogen bonding can recompense the formamidine vacancies to eliminate the negatively charged defect. In addition, the VM interlayer induces a favorable downshift band bending at the perovskite/ETL interface, facilitating charge separation and boosting charge transfer. Thanks to the reduced charged defects and favorable energy level alignment, the fabricated inverted PerSC delivers an outstanding power conversion efficiency of 24.06% with excellent long-term ambient and thermal stability. Background: Neuroinflammation is one of the most important pathogeneses in secondary brain injury after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) forming neutrophils were found throughout the brain tissue of TBI patients and elevated plasma NET biomarkers correlated with worse outcomes. However, the biological function and underlying mechanisms of NETs in TBI-induced neural damage are not yet fully understood. Here, we used Cl-amidine, a selective inhibitor of NETs to investigate the role of NETs in neural damage after TBI., Methods: Controlled cortical impact model was performed to establish TBI. Cl-amidine, 2'3'-cGAMP (an activator of stimulating Interferon genes (STING)), C-176 (a selective STING inhibitor), and Kira6 [a selectively phosphorylated inositol-requiring enzyme-1 alpha [IRE1α] inhibitor] were administrated to explore the mechanism by which NETs promote neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis after TBI. Peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4), an essential enzyme for neutrophil extracellular trap formation, is overexpressed with adenoviruses in the cortex of mice 1 day before TBI. The short-term neurobehavior tests, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI), Evans blue extravasation assay, Fluoro-Jade C (FJC), TUNEL, immunofluorescence, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), western blotting, and quantitative-PCR were performed in this study., Results: Neutrophils form NETs presenting in the circulation and brain at 3 days after TBI. NETs inhibitor Cl-amidine treatment improved short-term neurological functions, reduced cerebral lesion volume, reduced brain edema, and restored cerebral blood flow (CBF) after TBI. In addition, Cl-amidine exerted neuroprotective effects by attenuating BBB disruption, inhibiting immune cell infiltration, and alleviating neuronal death after TBI. Moreover, Cl-amidine treatment inhibited microglia/macrophage pro-inflammatory polarization and promoted anti-inflammatory polarization at 3 days after TBI. Mechanistically, STING ligand 2'3'-cGAMP abolished the neuroprotection of Cl-amidine via IRE1α/ASK1/JNK signaling pathway after TBI. Importantly, overexpression of PAD4 promotes neuroinflammation and neuronal death via the IRE1α/ASK1/JNK signaling pathway after TBI. However, STING inhibitor C-176 or IRE1α inhibitor Kira6 effectively abolished the neurodestructive effects of PAD4 overexpression after TBI., Conclusion: Altogether, we are the first to demonstrate that NETs inhibition with Cl-amidine ameliorated neuroinflammation, neuronal apoptosis, and neurological deficits via STING-dependent IRE1α/ASK1/JNK signaling pathway after TBI. The reaction conditions of high temperature and high pressure will introduce structural defects, high energy consumption, and security risks, severely hindering the industrial application of organic carbon nanodots (CDs). Moreover, the aggregation caused quenching effect also fundamentally limits the CDs based electroluminescent light emitting diodes (LEDs). Herein, for the first time, a rapid one-step room temperature synthetic strategy is introduced to prepare highly emissive solid-state-fluorescent CDs (RT-CDs). A strong oxidizing agent, potassium periodate (KIO 4 ), is adopted as a catalyst to facilitate the cyclization of o-phenylenediamine and 4-dimethylamino phenol in aqueous solution at room temperature for only 5 min. The resultant organic molecule, 2-(dimethylamino) phenazine, will self-assemble kinetically to generate supramolecular-structure CDs during crystallization. The elaborately arranged supramolecular structure (J aggregates) endows CDs with intense solid-state-fluorescence. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation shows that the excited state of RT-CDs exhibits charge transfer characteristic owing to the unique donor-Π-acceptor structure. A high-performance monochrome RT-CDs based electroluminescent LEDs (2967 cd m -2 and 1.38 cd A -1 ) were fabricated via systematic optimizations of device engineering. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an important reason of neurological damage and has high morbidity and mortality rates. The secondary damage caused by TBI leads to a poor clinical prognosis. According to the literature, TBI leads to ferrous iron aggregation at the site of trauma and may be a key factor in secondary injury. Deferoxamine (DFO), which is an iron chelator, has been shown to inhibit neuron degeneration; however, the role of DFO in TBI is unclear. The purpose of this study was to explore whether DFO can ameliorate TBI by inhibiting ferroptosis and neuroinflammation. Here, our findings suggest that DFO can reduce the accumulation of iron, lipid peroxides, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) and modulate the expression of ferroptosis-related indicators. Moreover, DFO may reduce NLRP3 activation via the ROS/NF-κB pathway, modulate microglial polarization, reduce neutrophil and macrophage infiltration, and inhibit the release of inflammatory factors after TBI. Additionally, DFO may reduce the activation of neurotoxic responsive astrocytes. Finally, we demonstrated that DFO can protect motor memory function, reduce edema and improve peripheral blood perfusion at the site of trauma in mice with TBI, as shown by behavioral experiments such as the Morris water maze test, cortical blood perfusion assessment and animal MRI. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can negatively impact systemic organs, which can lead to more death and disability. However, the mechanism underlying the effect of TBI on systemic organs remains unclear. In previous work, we found that brain-derived extracellular vesicles (BDEVs) released from the injured brain can induce systemic coagulation with a widespread fibrin deposition in the microvasculature of the lungs, kidney, and heart in a mouse model of TBI. In this study, we investigated whether BDEVs can induce heart, lung, liver, and kidney injury in TBI mice. The results of pathological staining and related biomarkers indicated that BDEVs can induce histological damage and systematic dysfunction. In vivo imaging system demonstrated that BDEVs can gather in systemic organs. We also found that BDEVs could induce cell apoptosis in the lung, liver, heart, and kidney. Furthermore, we discovered that BDEVs could cause multi-organ endothelial cell damage. Finally, this secondary multi-organ damage could be relieved by removing circulating BDEVs. Endothelial dysfunction is a key proponent of pathophysiological process of traumatic brain injury (TBI). We previously demonstrated that extracellular vesicles (EVs) released from injured brains led to endothelial barrier disruption and vascular leakage. However, the molecular mechanisms of this EV-induced endothelial dysfunction (endotheliopathy) remain unclear. Here, we enriched plasma EVs from TBI patients (TEVs), and detected high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) exposure to 50.33 ± 10.17% of TEVs and the number of HMGB1 + TEVs correlated with injury severity. We then investigated for the first time the impact of TEVs on endothelial function using adoptive transfer models. We found that TEVs induced dysfunction of cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells and mediated endothelial dysfunction in both normal and TBI mice, which were propagated through the HMGB1-activated receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE)/Cathepsin B signaling, and the resultant NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation and canonical caspase-1/gasdermin D (GSDMD)-dependent pyroptosis. Finally, von Willebrand factor (VWF) was detected on the surface of 77.01 ± 7.51% of HMGB1 + TEVs. The TEV-mediated endotheliopathy was reversed by a polyclonal VWF antibody, indicating that VWF might serve a coupling factor that tethered TEVs to ECs, thus facilitating HMGB1-induced endotheliopathy. These results suggest that circulating EVs isolated from patients with TBI alone are sufficient to induce endothelial dysfunction and contribute to secondary brain injury that are dependent on immunologically active HMGB1 exposed on their surface. The lung is an important site of extramedullary platelet formation, and megakaryocytes in the lung participate in immune responses in addition to platelet production. In acute lung injury and chronic lung injury, megakaryocytes and platelets play a promoting or protective role through different mechanisms. The authors reviewed the role of megakaryocytes and platelets in common clinical lung injuries with different course of disease and different pathogenic factors in order to provide new thinking for the diagnosis and treatment of lung injuries.

Two kinds of triphenylamine-derived solid-state emissive carbon dots (CDs) with orange and yellow color are facilely synthesized through solvothermal treatment, taking advantage of the nonplanar structure and good carrier mobility of triphenylamine unit. Theoretical calculations show that the triphenylamine structure could greatly inhibit the direct π-π stacking of aromatic skeletons and enhance the fluorescence properties of CDs in aggregation state. By adopting the CDs as single emissive layer, high-performance orange-color and green-color electroluminescent light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are successfully fabricated, with maximum brightness of 9450/4236 cd m -2 , high current efficiency of 1.57/2.34 cd A -1 and low turn-on voltage of 3.1/3.6 eV are respectively achieved. Significantly, white-color LED device is further prepared. Introduction: Increased neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation has been reported to be associated with cerebrovascular dysfunction and neurological deficits in traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, the biological function and underlying mechanisms of NETs in TBI-induced neuronal cell death are not yet fully understood., Methods: First, brain tissue and peripheral blood samples of TBI patients were collected, and NETs infiltration in TBI patients was detected by immunofluorescence staining and Western blot. Then, a controlled cortical impact device was used to model brain trauma in mice, and Anti-Ly6G, DNase, and CL-amidine were given to reduce the formation of neutrophilic or NETs in TBI mice to evaluate neuronal death and neurological function. Finally, the pathway changes of neuronal pyroptosis induced by NETs after TBI were investigated by administration of peptidylarginine deiminase 4 (a key enzyme of NET formation) adenovirus and inositol-requiring enzyme-1 alpha (IRE1α) inhibitors in TBI mice., Results: We detected that both peripheral circulating biomarkers of NETs and local NETs infiltration in the brain tissue were significantly increased and had positive correlations with worse intracranial pressure (ICP) and neurological dysfunction in TBI patients. Furthermore, the depletion of neutrophils effectively reduced the formation of NET in mice subjected to TBI. we found that degradation of NETs or inhibition of NET formation significantly inhibited nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor pyrin domain containing 1 (NLRP1) inflammasome-mediated neuronal pyroptosis after TBI, whereas these inhibitory effects were abolished by cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP), an activator of stimulating Interferon genes (STING). Moreover, overexpression of PAD4 in the cortex by adenoviruses could aggravate NLRP1-mediated neuronal pyroptosis and neurological deficits after TBI, whereas these pro-pyroptotic effects were rescued in mice also receiving STING antagonists. Finally, IRE1α activation was significantly upregulated after TBI, and NET formation or STING activation was found to promote this process. Notably, IRE1α inhibitor administration significantly abrogated NETs-induced NLRP1 inflammasome-mediated neuronal pyroptosis in TBI mice., Discussion: Our findings indicated that NETs could contribute to TBI-induced neurological deficits and neuronal death by promoting NLRP1-mediated neuronal pyroptosis. Drought is a common and serious abiotic stress in viticulture, and it is urgent to select effective measures to alleviate it. The new plant growth regulator 5-aminolevulinic acid ( ALA ) has been utilized to alleviate abiotic stresses in agriculture in recent years, which provided a novel idea to mitigate drought stress in viticulture. The leaves of 'Shine Muscat' grapevine ( Vitis vinifera L.) seedlings were treated with drought (Dro), drought plus 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA, 50 mg/L) (Dro_ALA) and normal watering (Control) to clarify the regulatory network used by ALA to alleviate drought stress in grapevine. Physiological indicators showed that ALA could effectively reduce the accumulation of malondialdehyde (MDA) and increase the activities of peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in grapevine leaves under drought stress. At the end of treatment (day 16), the MDA content in Dro_ALA was reduced by 27.63% compared with that in Dro, while the activities of POD and SOD reached 2.97- and 5.09-fold of those in Dro, respectively. Furthermore, ALA reduces abscisic acid by upregulating CYP707A1 , thus, relieving the closure of stomata under drought. The chlorophyll metabolic pathway and photosynthetic system are the major pathways affected by ALA to alleviate drought. Changes in the genes of chlorophyll synthesis, including CHLH , CHLD , POR , and DVR ; genes related to degradation, such as CLH , SGR , PPH and PAO ; the RCA gene that is related to Rubisco; and the genes AGT1 and GDCSP related to photorespiration form the basis of these pathways. In addition, the antioxidant system and osmotic regulation play important roles that enable ALA to maintain cell homeostasis under drought. The reduction of glutathione, ascorbic acid and betaine after the application of ALA confirmed the alleviation of drought. Locusta migratoria is a serious agricultural pest in China. Beauveria bassiana is one of the most important pathogens of grasshoppers and locusts. The effects of ultraviolet light were evaluated on the B. bassiana strain BbZJ1. The results showed that 253.7 and 360 nm wavelength UV (Ultra Violet) did not affect the germination of B. bassiana after its recovery from UV treatments. Nevertheless, the virulence of B. bassiana BbZJ1 after its recovery from radiation of UV (253.7 nm) increased. The mortality rates were 85.00% for the BbZJ1 control, was 96.67% for BbZJ1 recovered from radiation of UV (253.7 nm) for 60 min. After treatment with 253.7 nm UV radiation for 60 min, the expression levels of stress-resistant genes BbAlg9 and Bbadh2 in BbZJ1 strain were 2.68 and 2.29 times higher than those in the control group, respectively. Meanwhile, the B. bassiana prepared in 5% groundnut oil showed highest tolerance levels to the ultraviolet radiation. The stability of symbiotic flora is an important indicator of the health of an organism. Symbiotic bacteria have been proven to be closely involved in the immune process of organisms. The pathogenicity of Beauveria bassiana was studied in relation to symbiotic bacteria on the surface and inside of the migratory locust ( Locusta migratoria ). The results showed that the surface disinfection of test locusts contributed to the pathogenicity of B. bassiana to locusts. Most of the surface bacteria of L. migratoria caused some inhibition of B. bassiana growth, and LM5-4 ( Raoultella ornithinolytica ), LM5-2 ( Enterobacter aerogenes ), and LM5-13 ( Citrobacter freundii ) showed the highest inhibitory effect on the growth of B. bassiana. The inoculation of locusts with additional surface symbiotic bacteria reduced the virulence of B. bassiana to L. migratoria . Infection by different strains of B. bassiana caused similar changes in the symbiotic flora of migratory locusts. The inoculation of locusts with additional intestinal symbiotic bacteria ( Enterobacter sp.) reduced the virulence of B. bassiana to L. migratoria . These findings illustrate the effect of bacterial communities on fungal infections in L. migratoria when seen from the perspective of ecology in a microenvironment. The active antifungal substances of such bacteria and their mechanisms of action need further study.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of neurological disorder or death, with a heavy burden on individuals and families. While sustained primary insult leads to damage, subsequent secondary events are considered key pathophysiological characteristics post-TBI, and the inflammatory response is a prominent contributor to the secondary cascade. Neuroinflammation is a multifaceted physiological response and exerts both positive and negative effects on TBI. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), as messengers for intercellular communication, are involved in biological and pathological processes in central nervous system (CNS) diseases and injuries. The number and characteristics of EVs and their cargo in the CNS and peripheral circulation undergo tremendous changes in response to TBI, and these EVs regulate neuroinflammatory reactions by activating prominent receptors on receptor cells or delivering pro- or anti-inflammatory cargo to receptor cells. The purpose of this review is to discuss the possible neuroinflammatory mechanisms of EVs and loading in the context of TBI. Microscopic imaging is easily affected by the strength of illumination, and the chip surface qualities of different wafers are different. Therefore, wafer images have defects such as uneven brightness distribution, obvious differences in chip region characteristics, etc., which affect the positioning accuracy of the wafer cutting path. For this reason, this thesis proposes an automatic chip-cutting path-planning method in the wafer image of the Glass Passivation Parts (GPPs) process without a mark. First, the wafer image is calibrated for brightness. Then, the template matching algorithm is used to determine the chip region and the center of gravity position of the chip region. We find the position of the geometric feature (interlayer) in the chip region, and the interlayer is used as an auxiliary location to determine the final cutting path. The experiment shows that the image quality can be improved, and chip region features can be highlighted when preprocessing the image with brightness calibration. The results show that the average deviation of the gravity coordinates of the chip region in the x direction is 2.82 pixels. We proceeded by finding the interlayer in the chip region, marking it with discrete points, and using the improved Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) algorithm to remove the abnormal discrete points and fit the remaining discrete points. The average fitting error is 0.8 pixels, which is better than the least squares method (LSM). The cutting path location algorithm proposed in this paper can adapt to environmental brightness changes and different qualities of chips, accurately and quickly determine the cutting path, and improve the chip cutting yield.

The pathogenic bacterium Pectobacterium carotovorum causes soft rot in cabbage and significantly reduces plant yield. In this study, we employed Mhonia fortunei extracts to synthesis silver nanoparticles (Mf-AgNPs) and investigated their functions against P. carotovorum . The results showed that the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak of AgNP was 412 nm under optimal synthesis conditions. Furthermore, the results of Scanning electron microscope-Energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM-EDS) and High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) revealed that the Mf-AgNPs had a spherical structure with an average diameter of 13.19 nm and the content of Ag0 ions accounted for 82.68% of the total elemental content. The X-Ray diffraction (XRD) results confirmed that AgNPs had a face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure, while Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results indicated the presence of various biomolecules as reducing and stabilizing agents on the AgNP surface. Antibacterial activity was first evaluated by an inhibitory zone test, which revealed that 500 μg ml -1 of AgNPs had antibacterial activity against P. carotovorum and four model bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus , Escherichia coli , Bacillus subtilis , and Pseudomonas aeruginosa , respectively with an antibacterial function comparable to 1 mM AgNO 3 solution. The Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) values for P. carotovorum were 8 μg ml -1 , respectively. Furthermore, AgNPs at 8 μg ml -1 completely inhibited the growth of P. carotovorum , decreased their tolerance to 0.25 mM H 2 O 2 as well as considerably reduced colony formation after 1 h of treatment and thereafter. Treatment with Mf-AgNPs resulted in bacterial cell membrane destruction and biofilm formation inhibition, respectively. With an FIC (fractional inhibitory concentration) index of 0.174, AgNP and zhongshengmycin showed a significant synergistic effect. The infection of P. carotovorum to cabbage explants was significantly inhibited in vitro by a combination of 2 μg ml -1 Mf-AgNP and 5 μg ml -1 zhongshengmycin. (1) Background: In recent years, new media and the integration of sport and medicine have promoted the rapid integration and development of the two fields of health and, to a certain extent, the pursuit of public health knowledge and the promotion of health concepts. However, the overall development process is at an early stage and the aim of this paper is to make an empirical analysis of its development through a SWOT-AHP model and give corresponding recommendations. (2) Methods: The SWOT-AHP model was constructed to quantitatively and qualitatively analyse the four dimensions of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats obtained through the Delphi method, with regard to development and to determine the strategic direction of its development. (3) Results: The strategic azimuth θ is -13.243° and the strategic coefficient p is 0.53699, in the diversification zone. (4) Conclusions: New media, as a fast track to empowering the integration of sport and medicine for health, is a field with a bright future, but its own strengths and external threats coexist and should be maximised to overcome the disruptions caused by external threats through a variety of measures.

As the most abundant phenolic acid in peach fruit, chlorogenic acid (CGA) is an important entry point for the development of natural dietary supplements and functional foods. However, the metabolic and regulation mechanisms underlying its accumulation in peach fruits remain unclear. In this study, we evaluated the composition and content of CGAs in mature fruits of 205 peach cultivars. In peach fruits, three forms of CGA (52.57%), neochlorogenic acid (NCGA, 47.13%), and cryptochlorogenic acid (CCGA, 0.30%) were identified. During the growth and development of peach fruits, the content of CGAs generally showed a trend of rising first and then decreasing. Notably, the contents of quinic acid, shikimic acid, p-coumaroyl quinic acid, and caffeoyl shikimic acid all showed similar dynamic patterns to that of CGA, which might provide the precursor material basis for the accumulation of CGA in the later stage. Moreover, CGA, lignin, and anthocyanins might have a certain correlation and these compounds work together to maintain a dynamic balance. By the comparative transcriptome analysis, 8 structural genes ( Pp4CL , PpCYP98A , and PpHCT ) and 15 regulatory genes ( PpMYB , PpWRKY , PpERF , PpbHLH , and PpWD40 ) were initially screened as candidate genes of CGA biosynthesis. In this work, graphite and diamond are successfully introduced into Al melts and TiC is in situ-synthesized based on reactive wetting. It is found that the microstructures of the prepared TiC-reinforced Al composites are varied with the change in carbon sources and their sizes. TiC particles tend to form agglomerations in the composites prepared by both graphite and diamond, but the size of the TiC particles as well as their agglomerations will decrease with the decrease in the carbon source size. In addition, the Ti-C reaction is also difficult to fully carry out due to the influence of the Al-C reaction. As a result, in addition to TiC particles, Al 4 C 3 will also be present in the composites prepared by graphite, especially when the size of graphite is large. As for the composites prepared by diamond, diamond@Al 4 C 3 @TiC core-shell particles will form when the size of the diamond is large, such as 10 μm in this work, and these particles will transform into Al 4 C 3 @TiC core-shell particles when the size of the diamond is decreased.

Glial cells play an essential part in the neuron system. They can not only serve as structural blocks in the human brain but also participate in many biological processes. Extensive studies have shown that astrocytes and microglia play an important role in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, as well as glioma, epilepsy, ischemic stroke, and infections. Positron emission tomography is a functional imaging technique providing molecular-level information before anatomic changes are visible and has been widely used in many above-mentioned diseases. In this review, we focus on the positron emission tomography tracers used in pathologies related to glial cells, such as glioma, Alzheimer's disease, and neuroinflammation.

Lead-free perovskite emitters, particularly 2D tin (Sn) halide perovskites, have attracted considerable academic attention in recent years. However, the problems of Sn oxidation and rapid crystallization lead to an inferior perovskite morphology with high trap states, thus limiting the luminous efficiency of Sn halide perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs). In this study, the authors establish an approach by introducing an organic additive, 2-imidodicarbonic diamide (biuret), to address the issues of Sn oxidation and fast crystallization. The unique symmetrical carbonyl groups in the biuret robustly interact with the Sn-I framework, providing a strong Sn-anchoring effect. Consequently, it also suppresses the easy oxidation of Sn 2+ , regulating the crystallization process simultaneously. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations also confirmed the robust interaction between the biuret and the 2D Sn halide perovskite. Furthermore, the authors demonstrate efficient PeLEDs with saturated red emission at 637 nm, a maximum luminance (L max ) of 418 cd m -2 , a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE max ) of 1.37%, and a half-life (T 50 ) of 288 s. Methylation affects different aspects of genetic material stability, gene expression regulation, and histone modification. The previous reports depicted that DNA and histone methylation regulates plant growth and development. In this study, we evaluated the effects of DNA and histone methylation on 'Hongjia' strawberry and 'Lichun' tomato. We investigated the transient transformation system for arginine methyltransferase ( FvPRMT1.5 ) overexpression and interference and assessed the phenotypic appearance and mRNA and protein expression levels. Results depicted that changes in methylation levels caused inhibition of carotenoids and anthocyanins. Furthermore, the profiling of aroma components was altered in response to 5-azacytidine. DNA hypomethylation induced the expression levels of genes involved in photosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, and hormone signal transduction pathways, while the expression levels of related proteins showed a downward trend. Overall, we proposed a model that reveals the possible regulatory effects of DNA and histone methylation during fruit ripening.

The development of new electron transporting layer (ETL) materials to improve the charge carrier extraction and collection ability between cathode and the active layer has been demonstrated to be an effective approach to enhance the photovoltaic performance of organic solar cells (OSCs). Herein, water-soluble carbon dots (CDs) as ETL material have been creatively synthesized by a vigorous chemical reaction between polyethylenimine (PEI) and 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) via a simple one-step hydrothermal method. Taking full advantage of the high electron transfer property of PTCDA and the work function ( W F ) reduction ability of PEI, CD gained high electron mobility due to its large π-conjugated area and reduced the W F of indium tin oxide (ITO) by 0.75 eV. As for the photovoltaic performance of devices, inverted OSCs based on CDs have achieved a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 17.35%, exhibiting no burn-in effect with no reduction in PCE after more than 4000 h of storage. The successful application of CDs in OPV has developed a new avenue for designing efficient ETL materials that benefits the photovoltaic performance of OSCs.

Aspergillus fumigatus is a saprophytic mold and an opportunistic pathogen with a broad geographic and ecological distribution. A. fumigatus is the most common etiological agent of aspergillosis, affecting over 8,000,000 individuals worldwide. Due to the rising number of infections and increasing reports of resistance to antifungal therapy, there is an urgent need to understand A. fumigatus populations from local to global levels. However, many geographic locations and ecological niches remain understudied, including soil environments from arctic regions. In this study, we isolated 32 and 52 A. fumigatus strains from soils in Iceland and the Northwest Territories of Canada (NWT), respectively. These isolates were genotyped at nine microsatellite loci and the genotypes were compared with each other and with those in other parts of the world. Though significantly differentiated from each other, our analyses revealed that A. fumigatus populations from Iceland and NWT contained evidence for both clonal and sexual reproductions, and shared many alleles with each other and with those collected from across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Interestingly, we found one triazole-resistant strain containing the TR 34 /L98H mutation in the cyp51A gene from NWT. This strain is closely related to a triazole-resistant genotype broadly distributed in India. Together, our results suggest that the northern soil populations of A. fumigatus are significantly influenced by those from other geographic regions.

The narrow bandgap Pb-Sn hybrid perovskite materials with lower toxicities and adjustable optical bandgaps provide the opportunity to construct high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PerSCs). To solve the issues of the uncontrollable crystallization rate of Pb-Sn perovskite and easy oxidation of Sn 2+ , a β-diketone-based additive, N , N , N ', N '-tetraphenylmalondiamide (TPMA), is introduced to coordinate with Pb 2+ and Sn 2+ . The introduction of TPMA can improve the morphology of perovskite films and decrease the density of defect states, resulting in an enhanced power conversion efficiency of >20% and improved stability. The PerSC without encapsulation retains 94% of its initial efficiency after being stored for 1000 h in a nitrogen-filled glovebox and shows a lifetime of only 8% degradation after being continuously heated for 100 h at 80 °C. This work represents a new strategy of introducing a β-diketone ligand as an additive in precursor engineering for achieving efficient and stable PerSCs.

In recent years, more and more reports have shown that the miR156- SPL module can participate in the regulation of anthocyanin synthesis in plants. However, little is known about how this module responds to hormonal signals manipulating this process in grapes. In this study, exogenous GA, ABA, MeJA, and NAA were used to treat the 'Wink' grape berries before color conversion, anthocyanin and other related quality physiological indexes (such as sugar, aroma) were determined, and spatio-temporal expression patterns of related genes were analyzed. The results showed that the expression levels of VvmiR156b/c/d showed a gradually rising trend with the ripening and color formation of grape berries, and the highest expression levels were detected at day 28 after treatment, while the expression level of VvSPL9 exhibited an opposite trend as a whole, which further verifies that VvmiR156b/c/d can negatively regulate VvSPL9 . Besides, VvmiR156b/c/d was positively correlated with anthocyanin content and related genes levels, while the expression pattern of VvSPL9 showed a negative correlation. Analysis of promoter cis-elements and GUS staining showed that VvmiR156b/c/d contained a large number of hormone response cis-elements (ABA, GA, SA, MeJA, and NAA) and were involved in hormone regulation. Exogenous ABA and MeJA treatments significantly upregulated the expression levels of VvmiR156b/c/d and anthocyanin structural genes in the early stage of color conversion and made grape berries quickly colored. Interestingly, GA treatment downregulated the expression levels of VvmiR156b/c/d and anthocyanin structural genes in the early color-change period, but significantly upregulated in the middle color-change and ripening stages, therefore GA mainly modulated grape berry coloring in the middle- and late-ripening stages. Furthermore, NAA treatment downregulated the expression levels of VvmiR156b/c/d and anthocyanin structural genes and delayed the peak expression of genes. Meanwhile, to further recognize the potential functions of VvmiR156b/c/d, the mature tomato transient trangenetic system was utilized in this work. Results showed that transient overexpression of VvmiR156b/c/d in tomato promoted fruit coloring and overexpression of VvSPL9 inhibited fruit coloration. Finally, a regulatory network of the VvmiR156b/c/d-VvSPL9 module responsive to hormones modulating anthocyanin synthesis was developed. In conclusion, VvmiR156b/c/d-mediated VvSPL9 participated in the formation of grape color in response to multi-hormone signals.

Background: Grape buds and leaves are directly associated with the physiology and metabolic activities of the plant, which is monitored by epigenetic modifications induced by environment and endogenous factors. Methylation is one of the epigenetic regulators that could be involved in DNA levels and affect gene expression in response to stimuli. Therefore, changes of gene expression profile in leaves and bud through inhibitors of DNA methylation provide a deep understanding of epigenetic effects in regulatory networks., Results: In this study, we carried out a transcriptome analysis of 'Kyoho' buds and leaves under 5-azacytidine (5-azaC) exposure and screened a large number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs). GO and KEGG annotations showed that they are mainly involved in photosynthesis, flavonoid synthesis, glutathione metabolism, and other metabolic processes. Functional enrichment analysis also provided a holistic perspective on the transcriptome profile when 5-azaC bound to methyltransferase and induced demethylation. Enrichment analysis of transcription factors (TFs) also showed that the MYB, C2H2, and bHLH families are involved in the regulation of responsive genes under epigenetic changes. Furthermore, hormone-related genes have also undergone significant changes, especially gibberellin (GA) and abscisic acid (ABA)-related genes that responded to bud germination. We also used protein-protein interaction network to determine hub proteins in response to demethylation., Conclusions: These findings provide new insights into the establishment of molecular regulatory networks according to how methylation as an epigenetic modification alters transcriptome patterns in bud and leaves of grape.

Colloidal quantum dots (QDs) have attracted extensive attention due to their excellent optoelectronic properties, such as high quantum efficiency, narrow emission peaks, high color saturation, high stability and solution processability. Compared with the traditional display technology, QD based light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) show broad application prospects in the field of flat-panel displays and solid-state lighting. However, for full-color displays, the efficiency and lifetime of blue QLEDs are inferior to those of their green and red counterparts. Therefore, it is urgent for us to deeply understand the device physics and improve the performance of blue QLEDs through material and device engineering. An in-depth understanding of the optoelectronic properties (such as the structure of electronic states, electron-phonon interactions, Auger processes, etc.) and material engineering (such as size distribution control, composition control, and surface engineering) of blue emission QDs is greatly helpful for their applications in other fields. Herein, we review the key progress in the area of blue QLEDs, including the compositions and nanostructures of blue quantum dots, advances in the device architectures and the improvement of the device lifetime of blue QLEDs. The key factors that influence the blue device performance, including the nanostructure design and surface modification of QDs, interface engineering and architecture design of devices are discussed, aiming to propose possible solutions for these challenges, which will help to promote the commercialization process of QLEDs.

Grapevine is extensively grown for fresh table grapes, wine, and other processed products worldwide. DNA methylation levels are regulated by DNA methylation maintenance and DNA methylation removal involved in the grapevine growth. We comprehensively analyzed the transcriptome and metabolome of the 'Kyoho' fruit with or without demethylation and screened for a large number of differential genes and metabolites. Color, hardness, and aroma are the most obvious traits reflecting the ripening of grapes. We used gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography to understand the changes in metabolites during ripening. We cloned many key genes selected by transcriptome analysis and found that intron retention was observed in VvCHS , VvDFR , and VvGST . The imbalance of methylation levels affects the alternative splicing of pre-mRNA, which makes the translation process abnormal and affects gene expression. In addition, analyzing promoters of some genes, such as proVvGST4 and proVvUFGT , found that the promoters of these genes after demethylating were more difficult to methylate. Taken together, this study will provide new insights into comprehension of the molecular mechanism of methylation during ripening of grape berries. In addition, the study provides some genetic information to help guide our improvement, cultivation, and management of grapes in the future.

Cyanogen (C 2 N 2 ) is a new and effective alternative soil fumigant to methyl bromide. The effects of soil properties on the fate of C 2 N 2 and its degradation products, including hydrogen cyanide (HCN), are not fully understood. The objectives of this study were to determine the adsorption kinetics, adsorption isotherms, and degradation kinetics of C 2 N 2 and HCN in texturally different soils and evaluate their leaching potentials using soil columns. Eight agricultural soils were collected throughout China: Luvisols (Hebei Province), Phaeozems (Heilongjiang Province), Gleysols (Sichuan Province), Anthrosols (Zhejiang Province), Ferralsols (Jiangxi Province), Lixisols (Hubei Province), Alisols (Shandong Province), and Plinthosols (Hainan Province). The adsorptions of C 2 N 2 and HCN in C 2 N 2 -fumigated soils were positively correlated with organic matter and clay contents. For a C 2 N 2 dose of 100 mg kg -1 , the adsorptions of C 2 N 2 and HCN were highest in Phaeozems and lowest in Gleysols according to their adsorption coefficients (15.744 and 3.119, respectively). No significant difference in the half-life of C 2 N 2 and HCN was observed between sterilized and unsterilized soils, indicating that abiotic degradation was predominant in the degradation of C 2 N 2 and HCN. After leaching, the residual C 2 N 2 , HCN, NH 4 + -N, and NO 3 - -N concentrations in C 2 N 2 -fumigated Phaeozems were highest within 15 cm of the soil surface (30, 20, 19.68, and 10.41 mg kg -1 soil, respectively). The results indicate that C 2 N 2 and HCN have short lifetimes and low leaching potentials in agricultural soils, even under heavy rainfall conditions. In this work, an instrument of drop-on-demand electrohydrodynamic jet (DoD E-Jet) printing device equipped with a current measurement and control system was designed and developed for finely controlling the printing process. The relationships between the current and printing parameters of voltage, frequency, and flow rate were deeply investigated, and the examination data and conclusion were obtained under the condition of the needle size remaining unchanged. Especially, the equation relationship between the flow rate and current was established, which can be used for the modification of the DoD E-Jet printing process. The map describing the stable printing range, droplet size, and current was also recognized, which can help us to select parameters for stable printing. Based on the current measurement and control system and the established relationship, the optimized current and printing parameters were chosen to print uniform graphene microstructures. This instrument provides an effective method for monitoring, adjusting, and controlling the DoD E-Jet printing process and further improving the quality of the printed structures for micro/nanoelectromechanical system (M/NEMS) devices.

Tetraniliprole (TTP) is a new bisimide-based insecticide. Three typical surface soil samples were collected in farmland across China, including Jiangxi red soil (RS), Shandong yellow brown soil (YBS), and Heilongjiang black soil (BS). Adsorption, desorption and leaching experiments were conducted by using equilibrium oscillation and soil column leaching methods at 25°C ± 1°C. The isothermal adsorption and desorption curves of TTP in the above three soils were in accordance with the Freundlich model. The adsorption/desorption constants (K ads-f /K des-f ) were 41.96-64.48 and 3.62-43.65, respectively. There is a certain hysteresis in the desorption curve, and the hysteresis coefficient (H) was between 0.14 and 0.89. Besides, the leaching properties of TTP in three soils were different. The leaching of TTP in RS and YBS was easy, while difficult for BS. It is concluded that the different adsorption-desorption ability and leaching ability of TTP in the above three soils was attributed to the distinct contents of organic matter (OM) and cation exchange capacity (CEC) in soil.

The development of efficient red bandgap emission carbon quantum dots (CQDs) for realizing high-performance electroluminescent warm white light-emitting diodes (warm-WLEDs) represents a grand challenge. Here, the synthesis of three red-emissive electron-donating group passivated CQDs (R-EGP-CQDs): R-EGP-CQDs-NMe 2 , -NEt 2 , and -NPr 2 is reported. The R-EGP-CQDs, well soluble in common organic solvents, display bright red bandgap emission at 637, 642, and 645 nm, respectively, reaching the highest photoluminescence quantum yield (QY) up to 86.0% in ethanol. Theoretical investigations reveal that the red bandgap emission originates from the rigid π-conjugated skeleton structure, and the -NMe 2 , -NEt 2 , and -NPr 2 passivation plays a key role in inducing charge transfer excited state in the π-conjugated structure to afford the high QY. Solution-processed electroluminescent warm-WLEDs based on the R-EGP-CQDs-NMe 2 , -NEt 2 , and -NPr 2 display voltage-stable warm white spectra with a maximum luminance of 5248-5909 cd m -2 and a current efficiency of 3.65-3.85 cd A -1 . The warm-WLEDs also show good long-term operational stability ( L / L 0 > 80% after 50 h operation, L 0 : 1000 cd m -2 ). The electron-donating group passivation strategy opens a new avenue to realizing efficient red bandgap emission CQDs and developing high-performance electroluminescent warm-WLEDs., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest.
