Dichotomous thinking dominates the field of synthetic photochemistry - either a reaction needs a photocatalyst or not. Herein, we report the identification of a photoredox autocatalytic pathway, an alternative to the existing mechanistic paradigms, to access cyclic biaryl sulfonamides (BASNs). This reaction does not require exogenous catalyst as the visible light absorbing deprotonated product itself, with potent excited state reductive power, acts as the photocatalyst for its own synthesis. This finding implicated BASN as a novel organophotocatalyst architecture and allowed a rapid, modular, and low-cost combinatorial synthesis of a BASN library that expedited optimal photocatalyst screening. For the extraction of sugars and their subsequent conversion into ethanol, removing lignin from sugarcane bagasse is a major challenge attributed to its recalcitrant nature. This study compares the efficacy of green deep eutectic solvents with conventional acid/alkali pre-treatments for the delignification of sugarcane bagasse. Among different deep eutectic solvent pre-treatments, the maximum removal of lignin i.e. 77.37% was reported when bagasse was treated with choline chloride: formic acid (1:2) for 6 h. The comparison between deep eutectic solvents and conventional acid/alkali pretreatments revealed that acid (H 2 SO 4 ) pre-treatment showed no significant reduction in lignin content. However, the alkaline pre-treatment with 1 M NaOH for 60 min resulted in significant removal of lignin content (83.17%) from bagasse compared to deep eutectic solvent pre-treatment. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopic results of bagasse indicated significant structural alterations after the pre-treatment. The saccharification of alkali-pretreated bagasse with in-house cellulase resulted in a maximum reducing sugar concentration of 54.50 g/L with a hydrolytic efficiency of 67.01%. The batch fermentation of bagasse hydrolysate with Saccharomyces cerevisiae resulted in an ethanol concentration of 9.55 g/L with a fermentation efficiency of 53.81%. This study made a median attempt to identify an effective pre-treatment method to delignifying sugarcane bagasse, ultimately enhancing the enzymatic accessibility and increasing the efficiency of cellulose hydrolysis into fermentable sugars.

The recent surge in demand for plant-based beverages necessitates the development of newer formulations, though stability and flavor offer challenges in their standardization. Hence, xanthan gum (XG) was used (0.1-0.4% (w/v) to stabilize field pea extract (PE) for use as a beverage base. The level of XG was standardized based on stability and viscosity. To enhance sensory properties, honey (9-15%, w/v) was incorporated in the samples (FPBH 9 , FPBH 12 and FPBH 15 ). The addition of XG and honey significantly (p ≤ 0.05) affected the beverage samples' physicochemical characteristics, particle size, and FTIR spectra. Beverage samples showed a shear-thinning behavior and higher apparent viscosity than PE. Based on sensory analysis, FPBH 12 scored highest on the nine-point hedonic scale. The beverage showed shelf stability for up to 12 days under refrigerated conditions. Pomegranate peel powder is used as a functional ingredient in the development of nutritional bars. Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is well known fruit belongs to punicaceae family having multiple health benefits, not only limited to its edible parts but also in its non-edible parts mostly the peel. Fruit wastes are rich source of nutrients, and can be used for the development of functional food products. Pomegranate peel is considered to be beneficial due to its functional and therapeutic properties as it is a source of many biological active components like polyphenols, tannins and flavonoids. Nutrient rich and ready-made foods are the demand of everyone due to their easy availability and cost effectiveness. Among the confectionary products, bars are liked by individuals of different age groups. Hence, nutritional properties of bars can be enhanced by using pomegranate peel powder. The current study was designed to develop bars enriched with pomegranate peel powder as a basic ingredient. Pomegranate peel powder is prepared and analyzed for proximate, mineral, total phenolic content, total flavonoid content and anti-oxidant potential (DPPH). By using pomegranate peel powder, oats and jaggery, bars were prepared. In this research, five treatments T0 (0% pomegranate peel powder and 100% oats). T1 (5% pomegranate peel powder and 95% oats), T2 (10% pomegranate peel powder and 90% oats), T3 (15% pomegranate peel powder and 85% oats) and T4 (20% pomegranate peel powder and 80% oats) were used. The developed product is analyzed for proximate, mineral, total flavonoid contents, total phenolic content and anti-oxidant potential (DPPH). Proximate analysis of bars revealed that moisture, protein, fat, fiber, ash and nitrogen free extract ranges from T0 to T4 (13.38±1.21 to 11.32±1.15, 9.56±0.92 to 8.32±1.14, 9.05±1.21 to 7.93±1.08, 5.23±0.82 to 16.89±0.64, 2.05±0.87 to 2.92±1.25 and 62.51±0.85 to 52.62±0.93 respectively. Phytochemical analysis of bars enriched with pomegranate peel powder revealed that total phenolic content, total flavonoid content and antioxidant potential of bars ranges from T0 to T4 (142.74±0.65 to 211.79±0.63 mg GAE/100g, 129.16±0.64 to 192±0.53 mg QE/100g and 41.35±0.82 to 64.57±0.69%) respectively. Mineral analysis of bars enriched with pomegranate peel powder revealed that calcium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Iron, Magnesium content ranged from T0 to T4 (25.42±0.63 to 31.06±0.58, 51.00±1.01 to 45.05±1.09, 59.46±1.13 to 79.15±0.28, 1.32±1.20 to 1.95±0.83 and 54.17±0.88±0.58 to 57.36±0.68 mg/100g respectively). Sensory evaluation is done for color, aroma, taste, texture overall acceptability. T3 got maximum score. Then, the data obtained were evaluated by CRD design. Endophytes are bacteria that inhabit host plants for most of their life cycle without causing harm. In the study, 15 endophytic bacteria were isolated from 30 forage Sorghum plants and assessed for various plant growth-promoting (PGP) traits, such as phosphate solubilization, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase activity, ammonia production, siderophore production, gibberellic acid production, Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production, and zinc solubilization. One isolate, JJG_Zn, demonstrated multiple PGP activities and was identified as Enterobacter sp. through 16S rRNA sequencing. Considering the concept of 'One health,' a comprehensive biosafety analysis for any plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGP bacteria) is essential, thus, Enterobacter sp. (JJG_Zn), along with two other standard cultures, Burkholderia seminalis and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, were evaluated for biosafety tests-including sheep blood agar assay, E.coli sensitivity assay, and pathogenicity tests on albino mice. The results indicated that all three PGP bacteria were potentially innocuous and compatible with each other. Furthermore, the field experiments were conducted at Punjab Agricultural University, Regional Research Station, Bathinda, and School of Organic Farming, IFS, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during Kharif 2022 employing a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with nine treatment combinations. The treatments included liquid bacterial inoculants (LBIs) of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Burkholderia seminalis, and Enterobacter sp. (JJG_Zn) applied in combination with 100% and 75% of the recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF), with each treatment replicated thrice. The treatment T 9 (75% RDF + dual inoculation with B. seminalis and S. maltophilia) resulted in the highest productivity, showing a 10.23% increase in pooled green fodder yield (GFY) compared to the control. The treatment T 8 (75% RDF + Enterobacter sp. (JJG_Zn)) showed a 5.14% increase in productivity over the control. Over-accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes hepatocyte dysfunction and apoptosis that might lead to the progression of liver damage. Sirtuin-3 (SIRT3), the main NAD+-dependent deacetylase located in mitochondria, has a critical role in regulation of mitochondrial function and ROS production as well as in the mitochondrial antioxidant mechanism. This study explores the roles of astragaloside IV (AST-IV) and formononetin (FMR) in connection with SIRT3 for potential antioxidative effects. It was shown that the condition of combined pre- and post-treatment with AST-IV or FMR at all concentrations statistically increased and rescued cell proliferation. ROS levels were not affected by pre-or post-treatment individually with AST-IV or pre-treatment with FMR; however, post-treatment with FMR resulted in significant increases in ROS in all groups. Significant decreases in ROS levels were seen when pre- and post-treatment with AST-IV were combined at 5 and 10 μM, or FMR at 5 and 20 μM. In the condition of combined pre- and post-treatment with 10 μM AST-IV, there was a significant increase in SOD activity, and the transcriptional levels of Sod2, Cat, and GPX1 in all treatment groups, which is indicative of reactive oxygen species detoxification. Furthermore, AST-IV and FMR activated PGC-1α and AMPK as well as SIRT3 expression in AML12 hepatocytes exposed to t -BHP-induced oxidative stress, especially at high concentrations of FMR. This study presents a novel mechanism whereby AST-IV and FMR yield an antioxidant effect through induction of SIRT3 protein expression and activation of an antioxidant mechanism as well as mitochondrial biogenesis and mitochondrial content and potential. The findings suggest these agents can be used as SIRT3 modulators in treating oxidative-injury hepatocytes.

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), an important horticultural crop is a member of the family Solanaceae and is mainly grown for consumption at global level. Starch, the principal component of tubers, is one of the significant elements for food and non-food-based applications. The genes associated with biosynthesis of starch have been investigated extensively over the last few decades. However, a complete regulation pathway of constituent of amylose and amylopectin are still not deeply explored. The current in-silico study of genes related to amylose and amylopectin synthesis and their genomic organization in potato is still lacking. In the current study, the nucleotide and amino acid arrangement in genome and twenty-two genes linked to starch biosynthesis pathway in potato were analysed. The genomic structure analysis was also performed to find out the structural pattern and phylogenetic relationship of genes. The genome mining and structure analysis identified ten specific motifs and phylogenetic analysis of starch biosynthesis genes divided them into three different clades on the basis of their functioning and phylogeny. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) of amylose biosynthesis pathway genes in three contrast genotypes revealed the down-gene expression that leads to identify potential cultivar for functional genomic approaches. Objective: The main objective of this study is to examine the safety of oral acetaminophen at its therapeutic dose in adults aged ≥65 years., Methods: This population-based cohort study used the Clinical Practice Research Datalink-Gold data. Participants were aged ≥65 years registered with a UK general practice for at least 12 months between 1998 and 2018. Acetaminophen exposure was defined as at least two acetaminophen prescriptions within six months of the first acetaminophen prescription, the first prescription date being the index date. Acetaminophen nonexposure was defined as the absence of two acetaminophen prescriptions within six months over the study period. We calculated propensity score (PS) for acetaminophen prescription and undertook inverse probability treatment weighting using PS and PS-matched analyses to account for confounding. Missing data were handled using multiple imputation. The adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated using the Cox proportional hazards regression model., Results: In total, 180,483 acetaminophen exposed and 402,478 unexposed participants were included in this study. Acetaminophen exposure was associated with an increased risk of perforation or ulceration or bleeding (aHR 1.24; 95% CI 1.16-1.34), uncomplicated peptic ulcers (aHR 1.20; 95% CI 1.10-1.31), lower gastrointestinal bleeding (aHR 1.36; 95% CI 1.29-1.46), heart failure (aHR 1.09; 95% CI 1.06-1.13), hypertension (aHR 1.07; 95% CI 1.04-1.11), and chronic kidney disease (aHR 1.19; 95% CI 1.13-1.24)., Conclusion: Despite its perceived safety, acetaminophen is associated with several serious complications. Background The structural properties of dentin, including its microhardness, can be affected by exposure to endodontic irrigating solutions and ultrasonic activation. Aim The current study aimed to assess the effect of three different irrigation regimens, with and without ultrasonic activation, on the microhardness of the dentin. Methodology The research was conducted on 120 mandibular premolars randomly divided into four groups (n=30) based on the irrigation regimen, with each group further divided into two subgroups (n=15). Subgroups 'a" were subjected to respective irrigation regimens without ultrasonic activation. Subgroups 'b' were subjected to ultrasonic activation. The Vickers microhardness test was conducted on the samples, and the data underwent statistical analysis using the independent sample t-test, ANOVA, and the Tukey test. Results The observations of the study unveiled that the microhardness of the root dentin was decreased by all the irrigation regimens. Microhardness values of dentin showed higher reduction with ultrasonic activation than without ultrasonic for all groups. Conclusions The dentin microhardness was significantly reduced when 3% and 5% sodium hypochlorite were used with 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) as irrigation solutions. Objectives: Surveillance is the backbone for the control of malaria and its elimination. In the state of Gujarat, situated in the western region of India, some of the districts reported a high annual blood examination rate (ABER) for malaria. Therefore, a study was conducted to identify the underlying reasons for the increase in the ABER for malaria., Methods: Planned investigations were carried out in three of the state districts, scrutinizing records of malaria forms and other epidemiological data collected during health worker surveillance, assessment of laboratory services, and rapid fever surveys., Results: The rate of fever ranged from 8 to 57% in the primary health centers that were surveyed. Analysis of epidemiological data revealed that malaria parasite positivity was more from passive than active surveillance. Increased ABER was accounted for by multiple factors, including blood slides collected during the mass survey and contact smears, which were included in the ABER and not mentioned separately. Blood slides prepared for the migrant population were included in the ABER, but the migrant population was not counted while calculating the ABER., Conclusion: The ABER in villages surveyed varied from 1.6 to 78%, which is mainly due to indiscriminate preparation of blood slides, i.e., without fever symptoms. Addressing the key gaps identified in data recording may aid in channeling the limited resources efficiently, thereby progressing toward malaria elimination. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) can infiltrate extramedullary tissues, such as the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes and can be difficult to differentiate from lymphoma in cytologic and histologic specimens. Our goal was to identify cytologic features that would support a diagnosis of AML in peripheral lymph node aspirates, for which we used the term extramedullary AML (eAML). Medical records of 23 dogs with a diagnosis of AML and archived lymph node aspirate smears from 2016 to 2024 were reviewed across 4 institutions. Inclusion criteria included ≥50% myeloid blasts plus differentiating myeloid cells in lymph node smears, confirmation of myeloid lineage by flow cytometric analysis, and complete medical records. Peripheral lymphadenopathy was the reason for presentation (9/23, 39%) or was found incidentally on physical examination (14/23, 61%). Most dogs were bi- or pancytopenic (18/23, 78%), with blasts identified in blood smears of 18 dogs (78%). Initial lymph node aspirate interpretations included hematopoietic neoplasia (8/21, 38%), AML (6/21, 29%), lymphoma (5/21, 24%), lymphoid hyperplasia (1/21, 5%), and granulocytic precursor infiltrates (1/21, 5%). On lymph node smear review, cytologic features supporting an eAML were differentiating granulocytes, blasts with myeloid features or promonocytes, dysplastic changes in myeloid cells, and retention of residual lymphocytes. The median survival was 22 days (range = 1-360 days), and 69% of 16 dogs given chemotherapy or glucocorticoids lived for 30 days or more. Automatic analysis of facial expressions has emerged as a prominent research area in the past decade. Facial expressions serve as crucial indicators for understanding human behavior, enabling the identification and assessment of positive and negative emotions. Moreover, facial expressions provide insights into various aspects of mental activities, social connections, and physiological information. Currently, most facial expression detection systems rely on cameras and wearable devices. However, these methods have drawbacks, including privacy concerns, issues with poor lighting and line of sight blockage, difficulties in training with longer video sequences, computational complexities, and disruptions to daily routines. To address these challenges, this study proposes a novel and privacy-preserving human behavior recognition system that utilizes Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar combined with Machine Learning (ML) techniques for classifying facial expressions. Specifically, the study focuses on five common facial expressions: Happy, Sad, Fear, Surprise, and Neutral. The recorded data is obtained in the form of a Micro-Doppler signal, and state-of-the-art ML models such as Super Learner, Linear Discriminant Analysis, Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbor, Long Short-Term Memory, and Logistic Regression are employed to extract relevant features. These extracted features from the radar data are then fed into ML models for classification. The results show a highly promising classification accuracy of 91%. Movement monitoring and effective identification of different actions are the keys that help in fitness services, health status, clinical studies, etc. In this technological era, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, including smart wireless devices and sensors, are very effectively used for monitoring human activities, but the demand for sustainable and green power sources is a crucial issue with these devices. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) are proven to be promising applications in these devices because they harvest energy from the surrounding environment and eliminate the use of batteries as power sources. As a green energy source, this study emphasizes the fabrication of biodegradable materials-based TENGs, which are eco-friendly and are related to clean and green energy as per the UN's sustainable development goals SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy). In the present work, a natural Ficus religiosa leaf (FRL) of the F. religiosa tree is used in designing and fabricating a TENG (FRL-TENG). Also, an approach is discussed to compare the performance of FRL-TENG with TENGs fabricated from other waste biodegradable materials such as garlic tunic, onion tunic, and eggshell membrane (ESM). During the experimental study, it is observed that the FRL-based TENG produced maximum voltage in comparison to other material combinations selected in this study. The generated electric output from these TENG combinations is also used to power an array of tens of green-light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Furthermore, this paper also proposes the use of FRL-TENG as a wearable sensor to collect information and monitor the physical activities of the user, viz., walk, jump, and run. To recognize the movement status, the FRL-TENG sensor is integrated with an extra randomized tree-based machine learning model for accurately distinguishing the user's three activities with an accuracy of 96%. The work showcases an innovative approach to encourage customized uses of TENG sensors in human motion monitoring and permits the development of intelligent, self-powered systems for new applications.

Plants acts as living chemical factories that may create a large variety of secondary metabolites, most of which are used in pharmaceutical products. The production of these secondary metabolites is often much lower. Moreover, the primary constraint after discovering potential metabolites is the capacity to manufacture sufficiently for use in industrial and therapeutic contexts. The development of omics technology has brought revolutionary discoveries in various scientific fields, including transcriptomics, metabolomics, and genome sequencing. The metabolic pathways leading to the utilization of new secondary metabolites in the pharmaceutical industry can be identified with the use of these technologies. Genome editing (GEd) is a versatile technology primarily used for site-directed DNA insertions, deletions, replacements, base editing, and activation/repression at the targeted locus. Utilizing GEd techniques such as clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas9 (CRISPR-associated protein 9), metabolic pathways engineered to synthesize bioactive metabolites optimally. Introduction: Thyroid storm is a life-threatening condition with often severe cardiac implications. Correct treatment choices can vary depending on underlying cardiac systolic function., Case Description: We present a case of a 47-year-old male with untreated Grave's disease who presented with a thyroid storm. After propranolol administration, he experienced a cardiac arrest with the return of spontaneous circulation after cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Further evaluation revealed severe thyroid-induced cardiomyopathy with left ventricular ejection fraction of 15-20%, which had decreased from 60-65% over one year. The patient was discharged home on hospital day 8 after an unremarkable ischaemic work-up. He experienced a full cardiac systolic function recovery with an ejection fraction of 60-65% at the 90-day follow-up., Conclusion: Thyroid storm can present with overt or subclinical heart failure. Objectives: To determine the incidence of lung cancer amongst primary care referrals for investigation with a chest radiograph (CXR)., Methods: Retrospective evaluation of datasets from the national Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) and from a single large regional centre. Data were extracted for cohorts of consecutive adults aged over 40 years for whom a CXR had been performed between 2016 and 2018. Using cancer registry data, the incidence of lung cancer within a 2 years of the CXR referral and the variations with age, gender, and smoking status were evaluated., Results: A total of 291 294 CXR events were evaluated from the combined datasets. The incidence of lung cancer amongst primary care CXR referrals was 1.4% in CPRD with a consistent correlation with increasing age and smoking status. The incidence of lung cancer within two-years of the CXR varied between 0.03% (95%CI, 0.0-0.1) amongst never smokers aged 40-45 years to 4.8% (95%CI, 4.2-5.5) amongst current-smokers aged 70-75 years. Background: Development of insecticide resistance in the major malaria vectors has necessitated the development of novel vector control tools. One such strategy involves the use of toxic sugar baits that targets the sugar-feeding behaviour of mosquito vectors. In this study, we investigated the potential of polyols, as a toxic food (sugar) source in toxic sugar baits against the malaria vector Anopheles stephensi Liston. We examined the acute toxicity of six polyols, namely, erythritol, glycerol, mannitol, propylene glycol (PG), sorbitol, and xylitol on adult female An. stephensi mosquitoes at two different concentrations - 2% and 10%. We also studied changes in fecundity, egg hatchability and mid-gut peroxide levels induced by polyol exposure., Results: Among the six polyol compounds tested, PG was most toxic and lethal followed by glycerol and erythritol (P < 0.001) compared to the control (sucrose). PG induced acute mortality at different tested concentrations. In the erythritol- and glycerol-fed groups, a dose-dependent effect on mortality was observed. Glycerol evidently reduced fecundity and egg-hatchability in gonotrophic cycles G1 and G2. Sucrose was the preferred food source (48%), followed by erythritol (18%), PG (10%) and glycerol (8%). Ingestion of polyols increased peroxide levels in mosquito guts, which persisted for extended durations ultimately resulting in rapid mortality (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The present study highlights the usefulness of sugar polyols for the development of toxic sugar baits with minimal yet effective ingredients. Background: Individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are prone to musculoskeletal complications, particularly in the upper extremities (UE), which can significantly impair their grip strength and UE muscle strength. This review will provide valuable insights for developing optimized exercise interventions aimed at enhancing upper limb functionality and improving patient outcomes., Aim: To determine the effect of different exercise training on grip strength & UE muscle strength in patients suffering from T2DM., Methodology: A comprehensive search from electronic databases was performed based on the selection criteria and 13 randomized controlled trials (RCT's) were included in the study. Mean changes in grip strength and UE muscle strength were the primary outcome measures. Included studies ranked high on the PEDro rating scale and eta-analysis was performed by Rev Man 5.4 software., Results: Meta-analysis results indicated that there was a statistically significant improvement in UE muscle strength of experimental group when compared to control group (mean differences [MD] = 2.91, 95% confidence interval = 0.12, 5.71; p = 0.04) with moderate heterogeneity (I 2  = 49%, p < 0.07). Grip strength improved significantly in the experimental group when compared to the control group with (MD = 2.93, 95% CL = -0.00, 5.86; p = 0.05) and moderate heterogeneity (I 2  = 66%, p < 0.08)., Conclusion: This review indicated a positive role of supervised resistance & aerobic exercises on UE muscle strength in patients with T2DM. Aim or Objective: To find out the effect of physical training on the target accuracy of archery athletes DESIGN: Systematic review METHODS: Electronic databases PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, PEDro and Google Scholar were systematically searched from inception to September 2022. Studies included in which archery athletes of all age groups performed any type of physical training or exercises and archery score was measured as an outcome measure. Both experimental and quasi-experimental studies were included. The Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale and Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist were used for overall quality assessment. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed through the Cochrane Risk-of-Bias (RoB) tools RESULTS: The results of this systematic review are based on 10 studies which included 257 archery athletes from five different countries. Among these studies, 04 were experimental i.e. 03 RCTs and 01 Randomized cross-over trial. The remaining 6 were quasi-experimental studies i.e. 04 non-RCTs, and 02 pretest-posttest studies including one group. The experimental studies were of good quality having 6-7 PEDro score. The quasi-experimental studies were also of good quality with 88-100% quality rating on the JBI checklist. The different forms of exercises i.e. strengthening, stretching, plyometric, drill exercises and circuit training have been used for the physical training of archery athletes. Upper limb training was used in most of the studies CONCLUSION: Physical training or exercises improve the accuracy of archery athletes. The maximum literature is available on the upper extremity and overall fitness training. This study investigates the osmotic dehydration process of watermelon rind using a solution composed of honey and sucrose. The impact of the ratio of rind-to-solution and temperature on the process is illustrated. Pre-treatments such as blanching, microwaves, and ultrasonication were utilized. Ultrasonication reduces the time needed for osmosis in a sample, resulting in increased fluid loss and solute uptake; therefore, it was selected as the method to investigate the kinetics and modelling of mass transfer. The effective diffusivities for water loss (ranging from 3.02 × 10 -5 to 4.21 × 10 -4 m 2 s -1 ) and solid gain (ranging from 1.94 × 10 -6 to 3.21 × 10 -6 m 2 s -1 ) were shown to increase with process variables such as temperature and the rind-to-solution ratio. The activation energy decreased as the process temperature increased, ranging from 3.723 to 0.928 kJ mol -1 for water loss and from 1.733 to 0.903 kJ mol -1 for solid gain, respectively. The sample treated with microwaves exhibited the maximum dehydration coefficient, rendering it appropriate for producing dehydrated products. We quantified the proportion of diagnoses of pulmonary fibrosis (PF) among 25 136 people with lung cancer and 250 583 matched controls and compared the natural history of lung cancer in people with and without PF. Diagnoses of PF were more common in people with lung cancer than those without (1.5% vs 0.8%, OR 1.97; 95% CI 1.77 to 2.21). Within people with PF, squamous cell carcinoma was more (22.9% vs 19.1%), and adenocarcinoma was less common (18.0% vs 21.3%). A man in his 50s presented with a 3-week history of painless blurry vision. The ocular examination showed decreased visual acuity and 3+ bilateral papilloedema. A CT of the brain without contrast revealed a 5 mm left subdural haematoma. Anti-treponemal IgG antibodies were positive, and a reflex rapid plasma regain (RPR) was >1:64. HIV serology was negative. Ophthalmology and infectious diseases agreed that the presentation was consistent with ocular syphilis. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination revealed an elevated CSF protein of 52 mg/dL and CSF Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) of 1:1. Penicillin was started. The patient developed a Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction soon after. He had a fever, rash and worsening headaches due to the enlargement of subdural haematoma for which he underwent a burr hole drainage. Vision improved after completing penicillin therapy but did not recover fully. Objective: Lipids play key role in coronary atherosclerosis. The role of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) in atherosclerotic plaques using intravascular imaging remains unclear. This study aimed to assess its relationship with coronary plaque features using intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) in acute coronary syndrome (ACS)., Methods: A total of 601 patients divided into two groups: normal non-HDL-C≤130 mg/dl (n = 410) and high non-HDL cholesterol >130 mg/dl (n = 191). IVUS performed before coronary intervention., Results: Mean age 53.18 ± 12.29 years. No significant differences in hypertension, diabetes, and smoking between groups. Plaque burden was significantly higher among normal versus high non-HDL-C groups (79.59 ± 9.98 % vs. 81.61 ± 5.39 %; p = 0.001). At minimal luminal site, fibrofatty percentage was higher in normal non-HDL-C group (p = 0.027), while necrotic core greater in high non-HDL-C group (p = 0.033). Segmental analysis, necrotic core was significantly higher in percentage (p = 0.006) and volumes (p = 0.011) in normal versus high non-HDL-C groups. Total cholesterol (r = 0.099, p = 0.015), LDL-C (r = 0.081, p = 0.046), triglycerides (r = 0.083, p = 0.041),and non-HDL-C (r = 0.099, p = 0.015) positively correlated with plaque burden. Total cholesterol (r = 0.115, p = 0.005), LDL-C (r = 0.107, p = 0.009), and non-HDL-C (r = 0.105, p = 0.010) positively correlated with necrotic core volume. Linear regression analysis showed age and non-HDL-C as predictors of higher plaque burden. Multiple linear regression analysis; age, body mass index, and non-HDL-C were predictors of larger necrotic core volume., Conclusion: Non-HDL-C levels were positively associated with plaque burden, measure of extent of atherosclerosis. It is closely associated with and is a predictor of necrotic core volume; a marker of plaque vulnerability. Cancer is becoming the most toxic ailment identified among individuals worldwide. The mortality rate has been increasing rapidly every year, which causes progression in the various diagnostic technologies to handle this illness. The manual procedure for segmentation and classification with a large set of data modalities can be a challenging task. Therefore, a crucial requirement is to significantly develop the computer-assisted diagnostic system intended for the initial cancer identification. This article offers a systematic review of Deep Learning approaches using various image modalities to detect multi-organ cancers from 2012 to 2023. It emphasizes the detection of five supreme predominant tumors, i.e., breast, brain, lung, skin, and liver. Extensive review has been carried out by collecting research and conference articles and book chapters from reputed international databases, i.e., Springer Link, IEEE Xplore, Science Direct, PubMed, and Wiley that fulfill the criteria for quality evaluation. This systematic review summarizes the overview of convolutional neural network model architectures and datasets used for identifying and classifying the diverse categories of cancer. This study accomplishes an inclusive idea of ensemble deep learning models that have achieved better evaluation results for classifying the different images into cancer or healthy cases. Background and objective Radiation therapy plays a significant role in the radical treatment of locally advanced head and neck cancers. Studies have shown the radiobiological advantage of accelerated chemoradiation over conventional chemoradiation as it reduces the chances of accelerated repopulation and decreases overall treatment time. This study aimed to assess the response and toxicities of accelerated concomitant chemoradiation in locally advanced head and neck cancer patients. Methods A total of 51 patients were enrolled and treated with accelerated concomitant chemoradiation, receiving one fraction of radiation per day, six fractions per week, with the sixth fraction as a boost on Saturdays, with weekly concurrent cisplatin at 40 mg/m 2 . Patients were followed up till six months after treatment completion. Radiological investigation was done to assess response according to Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) 1.128, and acute toxicities were assessed according to Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) criteria. Results The median follow-up period was six months; 28 patients (62.22%) had a complete response and 17 (37.78%) had a partial response at six months post-completion of the treatment. The maximum acute toxicities developed at the completion of treatment. Grade III and IV mucositis developed in 14 patients (31.11%) and grade III dermatitis developed in one patient (2.22%), without any grade IV dermatitis during the total duration of treatment. The toxicities were manageable, and most of them resolved after three months of treatment completion. Conclusions Accelerated concomitant chemoradiation with six fractions of radiation in a week led to a decrease in overall treatment time. Of note, 62.22% of patients had complete remission, with manageable acute mucositis and dermatitis, which resolved in 82% and 67%, respectively within three months of treatment completion. An effective and affordable nanoadsorbent, magnetically separable magnetite-activated bamboo carbon (MABC), was obtained from waste bamboo biomass via pyrolysis of bamboo chunks and the co-precipitation method using ferrous and ferric chloride as iron precursors. The synthesized nanosorbents were characterised using XRD, SEM, and DLS techniques to study the surface characteristics and morphology. Chemical composition, optical absorption, and magnetic properties were studied using FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and VSM, respectively. The BET surface area, porosity and surface charge were determined using N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherm and zeta potential technique. The cytotoxicity and antimicrobial properties of BC, ABC and MABC were investigated against prokaryotes and eukaryotes. The result demonstrates the nontoxic nature of BC, ABC and MABC, indicating their significant potential for addressing water treatment using sustainable and eco-friendly nanosorbents. Comparative fluoride ion removal studies were performed using ABC and MABC NPs. About 99.6% of F - ions were adsorbed using MABC and 75.9% were adsorbed using ABC. Thus, MABC NPs were used as sorbents for the rest of the fluoride ion adsorption parameters. The batch fluoride ion sorption was performed at various sorption parameters, such as diverse solution pH (1.0-8.0), temperature (25-45 °C), agitation times (10-60 min), and adsorbent dose (0.01-0.04 g L -1 ). The pseudo-second-order kinetic model exhibited the best fit with F - ion adsorption (95.96 mg g -1 ) compared with the pseudo-first-order model (12.30 mg g -1 ), thereby indicating chemisorption adsorption. The exhausted MABC was recovered from the aqueous solution using a bar magnet. Introduction: Pain can automatically interfere with ongoing cognitive processes such as attention and memory. The extent of pain's negative effects on cognitive functioning seems to depend on a balance between top-down and bottom-up factors., Objectives: In this large, preregistered, pooled reanalysis of 8 studies, we investigated the robustness of the detrimental effect of acute pain on recognition memory and whether top-down mechanisms such as pain-related expectations or cognitions (pain-related fear, pain catastrophizing) modulate this effect., Methods: Two hundred forty-seven healthy participants underwent similar experimental paradigms, including a visual categorization task with images randomly paired with (or without) concomitant painful stimulation and a subsequent unannounced recognition task. Recognition memory (ie, d', recollection, and familiarity) and categorization performance (ie, reaction time, accuracy) served as proxies for the effect of pain on cognitive performance., Results: Acute painful stimulation significantly impaired recognition performance (d', familiarity). However, recognition performance was not significantly modulated by participants' expectations regarding the effect of pain on task performance or pain-related cognitions in this sample of healthy participants., Conclusion: Our results corroborate the negative effects of pain on (visual) memory encoding reported in previous studies and reports of "memory problems" from patients with chronic pain. Background: Tumor recurrence and metastatic progression remains the leading cause for breast cancer related mortalities. However, the proteomes of patient- matched primary breast cancer (BC) and metastatic lesions have not yet been identified, due to the lack of clinically annotated longitudinal samples. In this study, we evaluated the global-proteomic landscape of BC patients with and without distant metastasis as well as compared the proteome of distant metastatic disease with its corresponding primary BC, within the same patient., Methods: We performed mass spectrometry-based proteome profiling of 73 serum samples from 51 BC patients. Among the 51 patients with BC, 29 remained metastasis-free (henceforth called non-progressors), and 22 developed metastases (henceforth called progressors). For the 22 progressors, we obtained two samples: one collected within a year of diagnosis, and the other collected within a year before the diagnosis of metastatic disease. MS data were analyzed using intensity-based absolute quantification and normalized before differential expression analysis. Significantly differentially expressed proteins (DEPs; absolute fold-change ≥ 1.5, P-value < 0.05 and 30% abundance per clinical group) were subjected to pathway analyses., Results: We identified 967 proteins among 73 serum samples from patients with BC. Among these, 39 proteins were altered in serum samples at diagnosis, between progressors and non-progressors. Among these, 4 proteins were further altered when the progressors developed distant metastasis. In addition, within progressors, 20 proteins were altered in serum collected at diagnosis versus at the onset of metastasis. Pathway analysis showed that these proteins encoded pathways that describe metastasis, including epithelial-mesenchymal transition and focal adhesion that are hallmarks of metastatic cascade., Conclusions: Our results highlight the importance of examining matched samples from distant metastasis with primary BC samples collected at diagnosis to unravel subset of proteins that could be involved in BC progression in serum. Soil salinity is a major environmental stressor impacting global food production. Staple crops like wheat experience significant yield losses in saline environments. Bioprospecting for beneficial microbes associated with stress-resistant plants offers a promising strategy for sustainable agriculture. We isolated two novel endophytic bacteria, Bacillus cereus (ADJ1) and Priestia aryabhattai (ADJ6), from Agave desmettiana Jacobi. Both strains displayed potent plant growth-promoting (PGP) traits, such as producing high amounts of indole-3-acetic acid (9.46, 10.00 µgml -1 ), ammonia (64.67, 108.97 µmol ml -1 ), zinc solubilization (Index of 3.33, 4.22, respectively), ACC deaminase production and biofilm formation. ADJ6 additionally showed inorganic phosphate solubilization (PSI of 2.77), atmospheric nitrogen fixation, and hydrogen cyanide production. Wheat seeds primed with these endophytes exhibited enhanced germination, improved growth profiles, and significantly increased yields in field trials. Notably, both ADJ1 and ADJ6 tolerated high salinity (up to 1.03 M) and significantly improved wheat germination and seedling growth under saline stress, acting both independently and synergistically. This study reveals promising stress-tolerance traits within endophytic bacteria from A. desmettiana. The study focuses on the in silico genomic characterization of Sphingobium indicum B90A, revealing a wealth of genes involved in stress response, carbon monoxide oxidation, β-carotene biosynthesis, heavy metal resistance, and aromatic compound degradation, suggesting its potential as a bioremediation agent. Furthermore, genomic adaptations among nine Sphingomonad strains were explored, highlighting shared core genes via pangenome analysis, including those related to the shikimate pathway and heavy metal resistance. The majority of genes associated with aromatic compound degradation, heavy metal resistance, and stress response were found within genomic islands across all strains. Sphingobium indicum UT26S exhibited the highest number of genomic islands, while Sphingopyxis alaskensis RB2256 had the maximum fraction of its genome covered by genomic islands. The distribution of lin genes varied among the strains, indicating diverse genetic responses to environmental pressures. Additionally, in silico evidence of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) between plasmids pSRL3 and pISP3 of the Sphingobium and Sphingomonas genera, respectively, has been provided. Despite being the second largest family of flowering plants, orchids represent community structure variation in plant-microbial associations, contributes to niche partitioning in metacommunity assemblages. Yet, mycorrhizal communities and interactions remain unknown for orchids that are highly specialized or even obligated in their associations with their mycorrhizal partners. In this study, we sought to compare orchid mycorrhizal fungal (OMF) communities of three co-occurring hemiepiphytic Vanilla species (V. hartii, V. pompona, and V. trigonocarpa) in tropical forests of Costa Rica by addressing the identity of their OMF communities across species, root types, and populations, using high-throughput sequencing. Sequencing the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (nrITS) yielded 299 fungal Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs) from 193 root samples. We showed distinct segregation in the putative OMF (pOMF) communities of the three coexisting Vanilla hosts. We also found that mycorrhizal communities associated with the rare V. hartii varied among populations. Furthermore, we identified Tulasnellaceae and Ceratobasidiaceae as dominant pOMF families in terrestrial roots of the three Vanilla species. In contrast, the epiphytic roots were mainly dominated by OTUs belonging to the Atractiellales and Serendipitaceae. Furthermore, the pOMF communities differed significantly across populations of the widespread V. trigonocarpa and showed patterns of distance decay in similarity. This is the first report of different pOMF communities detected in roots of wild co-occurring Vanilla species using high-throughput sequencing, which provides evidence that three coexisting Vanilla species and their root types exhibited pOMF niche partitioning, and that the rare and widespread Vanilla hosts displayed diverse mycorrhizal preferences., (© 2024. The field of nutrition research has traditionally focused on the effects of macronutrients and micronutrients on the body. However, it has become evident that individuals have unique genetic makeups that influence their response to food. Nutritional genomics, which includes nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics, explores the interaction between an individual's genetic makeup, diet, and health outcomes. Nutrigenetics studies the impact of genetic variation on an individual's response to dietary nutrients, while nutrigenomics investigates how dietary components affect gene regulation and expression. These disciplines seek to understand the impact of diet on the genome, transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome. It provides insights into the mechanisms underlying the effect of diet on gene expression. Nutrients can cause the modification of genetic expression through epigenetic changes, such as DNA methylation and histone modifications. The aim of nutrigenomics is to create personalized diets based on the unique metabolic profile of an individual, gut microbiome, and genetic makeup to prevent diseases and promote health. Nutrigenomics has the potential to revolutionize the field of nutrition by combining the practicality of personalized nutrition with knowledge of genetic factors underlying health and disease. Thus, nutrigenomics offers a promising approach to improving health outcomes (in terms of disease prevention) through personalized nutrition strategies based on an individual's genetic and metabolic characteristics.

Background: Achieving effective control and elimination of malaria in endemic regions necessitates a comprehensive understanding of local mosquito species responsible for malaria transmission and their susceptibility to insecticides., Methods: The study was conducted in the highly malaria prone Ujina Primary Health Center of Nuh (Mewat) district of Haryana state of India. Monthly entomological surveys were carried out for adult mosquito collections via indoor resting collections, light trap collections, and pyrethrum spray collections. Larvae were also collected from different breeding sites prevalent in the region. Insecticide resistance bioassay, vector incrimination, blood meal analysis was done with the collected vector mosquitoes., Results: A total of 34,974 adult Anopheles mosquitoes were caught during the survey period, out of which Anopheles subpictus was predominant (54.7%). Among vectors, Anopheles stephensi was predominant (15.5%) followed by Anopheles culicifacies (10.1%). The Human Blood Index (HBI) in the case of An. culicifacies and An. stephensi was 6.66 and 9.09, respectively. Vector incrimination results revealed Plasmodium vivax positivity rate of 1.6% for An. culicifacies. Both the vector species were found resistant to DDT, malathion and deltamethrin., Conclusion: The emergence of insecticide resistance in both vector species, compromises the effectiveness of commonly used public health insecticides. Consequently, the implementation of robust insecticide resistance management strategies becomes imperative. The study aimed to improve the quality and storage stability of novel plant-based soymilk with the incorporation of untreated (UtβG) and modified oat derived 1,4-β-D-glucan (OzβG) at varying concentrations (0, 1, and 2 % labelled as S 0 , S 1 and S 2 ). The treated soymilk was characterized for physical, chemical, nutritional, rheological, particle size, zeta potential, sensory and storage stability characteristics. The results revealed that 1, 4-β-D-glucan incorporation increased the acidity (0.67 to 0.73 %), viscosity (3.4 to 4.7 Cp) and ash content (0.74 to 0.92 %), however color remains natural. The frequency sweep and shear experiments showed that the 1,4-β-D-glucan modified the rheological parameters of the soymilk. The sensory analysis (n = 30) indicated that texture, mouthfeel and overall acceptability (8.38). Compared to OzβG-treated soymilk, UtβG soymilk, especially S 2 , exhibited superior thickening and rheological properties. The storage study indicated minimal phase separation in 1,4-β-D-glucan-incorporated samples, maintaining stability for 15 days under refrigerated conditions without compromising overall quality. Background: There are several leadership training programs for health researchers in India. However, there is a need to develop context-tailored leadership and mentoring approaches., Objective: The objective of the study is to critically analyze the available leadership training programs in India for health researchers and service providers, for the leadership domains incorporated and overall training approaches., Materials and Methods: We used an exploratory-descriptive design to identify and review leadership training programs for health researchers and service providers/managers that had been offered by Indian institutions between 2013 and 2018. Our analytic approach was based on "transformational leadership" and "leader-member exchange" theories of leadership, curricula of popular leadership training programs worldwide, and the International Clinical Epidemiology Network model for leadership in health research in India based on a nationwide primary study., Results: We identified and reviewed 20 leadership training programs. These were heterogeneous in aim, scope (broad-based/thematic), course content, design, target participants and class profile, mode of delivery and training method, duration, frequency, and fund arrangements. The programs infrequently included topics on soft skills, mentoring, risk mitigation, collaboration for research, funding dynamics, institutional transformation, self-view and peer perception, and personal well-being. The programs insufficiently addressed contextual challenges of career exploration and risk mitigation, project management, strategic planning, and decision-making, ethics and integrity, negotiations, networking and collaboration, understanding funding dynamics, and mentoring. Racial disparities in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) outcomes have been reported. However, the biological mechanisms underlying these disparities remain unclear. We integrated imaging mass cytometry and spatial transcriptomics, to characterize the tumor microenvironment (TME) of African American (AA) and European American (EA) patients with TNBC. The TME in AA patients was characterized by interactions between endothelial cells, macrophages, and mesenchymal-like cells, which were associated with poor patient survival. In contrast, the EA TNBC-associated niche is enriched in T-cells and neutrophils suggestive of an exhaustion and suppression of otherwise active T cell responses. Ligand-receptor and pathway analyses of race-associated niches found AA TNBC to be immune cold and hence immunotherapy resistant tumors, and EA TNBC as inflamed tumors that evolved a distinctive immunosuppressive mechanism. Our study revealed the presence of racially distinct tumor-promoting and immunosuppressive microenvironments in AA and EA patients with TNBC, which may explain the poor clinical outcomes.

Hypoxia is mainly caused by cardiopulmonary disease or high-altitude exposure. We used a driving simulator to investigate whether breathing hypoxic gas influences driving behaviors in healthy subjects. Fifty-two healthy subjects were recruited in this study, approved by the Science and Engineering Ethical Committee. During simulated driving experiments, driving behaviors, breathing frequency, oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ), and heart rate variability (HRV) were analyzed. Each subject had four driving sessions; a 10-min practice and three 20-min randomized interventions: normoxic room air (21% FIO 2 ) and medical air (21% FIO 2 ) and hypoxic air (equal to 15% FIO 2 ), analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA. Driving behaviors and HRV frequency domains showed no significant change. Heart rate (HR; p < 0.0001), standard deviation of the RR interval (SDRR; p = 0.03), short-term HRV (SD1; p < 0.0001), breathing rate (p = 0.01), and SpO 2 (p < 0.0001) were all significantly different over the three gas interventions. Pairwise comparisons showed HR increased during hypoxic gas exposure compared to both normoxic interventions, while SDRR, SD1, breathing rate, and SpO 2 were lower. Breathing hypoxic gas (15% FiO 2 , equivalent to 2710 m altitude) may not have a significant impact on driving behavior in healthy subjects. Furthermore, HRV was negatively affected by hypoxic gas exposure while driving suggesting further research to investigate the impact of breathing hypoxic gas on driving performance for patients with autonomic dysfunction., (© 2024 The Authors. The plant's chemical composition, including sesquiterpene lactones, saponins, flavonoids, phenols, and many other compounds, contributes positively to the human body, promoting overall health., Aim: This review aims to shed light on the therapeutic potential of dandelion by summarizing its nutritional benefits, phytochemical constituents, and effectiveness in addressing health conditions like diabetes, inflammation, and cancer. It also provides insights into the applications of this plant beyond the food industry to gain researchers' attention to unravel the unexplored aspects of this therapeutic plant. It will further help in laying specific considerations, which are required to be taken into account before the development of functional foods incorporated with dandelion. Background: Morbidity and mortality rates associated with acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS) are high (30-40%). Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) is a transcription factor, associated with transcription of numerous cytokines leading to cytokine storm, and thereby, plays a major role in ALI/ARDS and in advanced COVID-19 syndrome., Methods: Considering the role of NF-κB in ALI, cost-effective in silico approaches were utilized in the study to identify potential NF-κB inhibitor based on the docking and pharmacokinetic results. The identified compound was then pharmacologically validated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) rodent model of acute lung injury. LPS induces ALI by altering alveolar membrane permeability, recruiting activated neutrophils and macrophages to the lungs, and compromising the alveolar membrane integrity and ultimately impairs the gaseous exchange. Furthermore, LPS exposure is associated with exaggerated production of various proinflammatory cytokines in lungs., Results: Based on in silico studies Olopatadine Hydrochloride (Olo), an FDA-approved drug was found as a potential NF-κB inhibitor which has been reported for the first time, and considered further for the pharmacological validation. Intraperitoneal LPS administration resulted in ALI/ARDS by fulfilling 3 out of the 4 criteria described by ATS committee (2011) published workshop report. However, treatment with Olo attenuated LPS-induced elevation of proinflammatory markers (IL-6 and NF-κB), oxidative stress, neutrophil infiltration, edema, and damage in lungs. Histopathological studies also revealed that Olo treatment significantly ameliorated LPS-induced lung injury, thus conferring improvement in survival. Especially, the effects produced by Olo medium dose (1 mg/kg) were comparable to dexamethasone standard., Conclusion: In nutshell, inhibition of NF-κB pathway by Olo resulted in protection and reduced mortality in LPS- induced ALI and thus has potential to be used clinically to arrest disease progression in ALI/ARDS, since the drug is already in the market. Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) have significant long-term consequences for the oral cavity's hard and soft tissues. Alveolar process fractures are particularly complicated. This case report describes the management and 12-month follow-up of a segmental maxillary alveolar process fracture involving laterally luxated primary incisors. A case of a 4-year-old boy was reported to the hospital 1 hour after an accidental fall at school, which resulted in a fracture of the maxillary alveolar process. Emergency treatment consisted of fracture reduction and repositioning of the primary incisors, followed by a semirigid splint between maxillary canines. Isolation of Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) has been done extensively in the past using ultracentrifugation, a recent shift has been observed towards precipitation, and exosome isolation kits. These methods often co-elute contaminants of similar size and density which makes their detection and downstream applications quite challenging. As well as the EV yield is also compromised in some methodologies due to aggregate formation. In recent reports, size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) is replacing density gradient-based ultracentrifugation as the gold standard of exosome isolation. It outperforms in yield, purity and does not account for any physical damage to the EVs. We have standardized the methodology for an efficient pure yield of homogenous exosomes of size even smaller than 75 nm in Caenorhabditis elegans homogenate. The paper entails the application and optimization of EV isolation by SEC based on previous studies by optimizing bed size and type of sepharose column employed. We propose that this method is economically feasible in comparison with currently available approaches. A comparative study was conducted to investigate the performance of CL-6B in relation to CL-2B and further, this was combined with ultracentrifugation for higher efficacy. The methodology could be introduced in a clinical setting due to its therapeutic potential and scope. The most frequent cystic lesions that affect the jaw are radicular cysts. The current case report describes the surgical management of a radicular cyst in the periapical region of maxillary central and lateral incisors, and highlights the efficacy of natural platelet concentrate [platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)] along with Ostoden bone graft material used for postoperative healing. A 46-year-old male patient presented to the department with swelling in the palatal aspect of the maxillary anterior region. On radiographic examination, a radiolucent periapical lesion was evident in relation to the left maxillary central and lateral incisor. In the maxillary anterior region, root canal therapy was performed, followed by periapical surgery, and PRF with Ostoden bone graft was placed in the surgical site to initiate the healing at a faster rate. The patient was recalled at follow-ups after 7 days, 3, 6, and 9 months. The case report describes a multidisciplinary approach using orthodontic forced eruption to facilitate prosthetic restoration of a maxillary permanent lateral incisor and canine with poor restorability for a young patient. Restoration after orthodontic eruption presents a more conservative treatment choice in young patients compared with prosthetic restoration after extraction. On examination, the patient had root stumps in the region of 22 and 23. We decided to treat the patient by orthodontic extrusion followed by endodontic post and core. The genus Idiomarina consists of halophilic and/or haloalkaliphilic organisms. We compared the complete genomes of seven strains of the genus Idiomarina to investigate its adaptation to saline environment. A total of 1,313 core genes related to salinity tolerance, stress response, antibiotic resistance genes, virulence factors, and drug targets were found. Comparative genomics revealed various genes involved in halo adaptations of these organisms, including transporters and influx or efflux systems for elements such as Fe, Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd. In agreement with their isolation sources (such as hydrothermal vents and marine sediments) and environments abundant in heavy metals, various resistance proteins and transporters associated with metal tolerance were also identified. These included copper resistance proteins, zinc uptake transcriptional repressor Zur, MerC domain-containing protein, Cd(II)/Pb(II)-responsive transcriptional regulator, Co/Zn/Cd efflux system protein, and mercuric transporter. Interestingly, we observed that the carbohydrate metabolism pathways were incomplete in all the strains and transporters used for absorption of small sugars were also not found in them. Also, the presence of higher proportion of genes involved in protein metabolism than carbohydrate metabolism indicates that proteinaceous substrates act as the major food substrates for these bacterial strains than carbohydrates. Genomic islands were detected in some species, highlighting the role of horizontal gene transfer for acquisition in novel genes. Genomic rearrangements in terms of partially palindromic regions were detected in all strains. Schiff base derivates (3, 4 and 5) comprising pseudo cavity with different heteroatoms (O, N and S) were designed, synthesized and explored for their detection behaviour towards diverse metal ions. In UV and fluorescence studies, all three receptors exhibited sensitive response towards Cu 2+ while 5 showed sensitivity for Hg 2+ also. To explore the synthesized receptors for electrochemical behaviour, voltammetric studies were conducted where 3, 4 and 5 exhibited sensitive response towards Cu 2+ with detection limits of 9.8 × 10 -7  M, 9.0 × 10 -7  M and 1.41 × 10 -7  M, respectively. The receptor 5 also showed response towards Hg 2+ with detection limit of 5.61 × 10 -8  M. The formation of complexes, 3/4+Cu 2+ and 5+Cu 2+ /Hg 2+ was supported by large values of binding constant and associated negative free energy change. The binding mechanism of 3, 4 and 5 towards respective metal ions was confirmed using 1 H-NMR and HR-MS studies. Further, to utilize the proposed sensors for on-site monitoring of analyte metal ions, carbon paste electrodes (CPEs) were constructed by incorporating 3, 4 and 5.
