Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune chronic inflammatory disease that imposes a heavy economic burden on patients and society. Bone and cartilage destruction is considered an important factor leading to RA, and inflammation, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction are closely related to bone erosion and cartilage destruction in RA. Currently, there are limitations in the clinical treatment methods for RA, which urgently necessitates finding new effective treatments for patients. Nuclear transcription factor-κB (NF-κB) is a signaling transcription factor that is widely present in various cells. It plays an important role as a stress source in the cellular environment and regulates gene expression in processes such as immunity, inflammation, cell proliferation, and apoptosis. NF-κB has long been recognized as a pathogenic factor of RA, and its activation can exacerbate RA by promoting inflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and bone destruction. Conversely, inhibiting the activity of the NF-κB pathway effectively inhibits these pathological processes, thereby alleviating RA. Therefore, NF-κB may be a potential therapeutic target for RA. This article describes the physiological structure of NF-κB and its important role in RA through the regulation of oxidative stress, inflammatory response, mitochondrial function, and bone destruction. Meanwhile, we also summarized the impact of NF-κB crosstalk with other signaling pathways on RA and the effect of related drugs or inhibitors targeting NF-κB on RA. The purpose of this article is to provide evidence for the role of NF-κB in RA and to emphasize its significant role in RA by elucidating the mechanisms, so as to provide a theoretical basis for targeting the NF-κB pathway as a treatment for RA., Competing Interests: Declarations Ethics Approval and Consent to Participate Not applicable. Hydrogels are ideal materials for flexible electronic devices based on their smooth ion channels and considerable mechanical flexibility. A substantial volume of aqueous solution is required to enable the smooth flow of ions, resulting in the agony of low-temperature freezing; besides, long-term exposure to bending/tensile tress triggers fatigue issues. Therefore, it is a great challenge to prepare hydrogels with both freeze-resistance and long-term durability. Herein, a polyacrylic acid-based hydrogel with both hydrophobic interaction and dynamic reversible covalent bonding cross-linking networks is preparing (DC-hydrogel) by polymerizing a bi-functional imidazole-type ionic liquid monomer with integrated disulfide and alkene bonds (DS/DB-IL) and an octadecyl methacrylate, achieving self-healing. The DS/DB-IL anchored into the polymer backbone has a high affinity with water, reducing the freezing point of water, while the DS/DB-IL with free ions provides superior ionic conductivity to the DC-hydrogel. The polyacrylic acid with abundant carboxyl gives hydrogel good self-adhesiveness to different substrates. Ionotronics with resistance-type sensors with stable output performance are fabricated and explored its application to joint motion and health information. Moreover, hydrogel-based sensing arrays with high resolution and accuracy are fabricated to identify 2D distribution of stress. The emergence of novel e-textile materials that combine the inherent qualities of the textile substrate (lightweight, soft, breathable, durable, etc.) with the functionality of micro/nano-electronic materials (conductive, dielectric, sensing, etc.) has resulted in a trend toward miniaturization, integration, and intelligence in new electronic devices. However, the formation of a conductive network by micro/nano-conductive materials on textiles necessitates high-temperature sintering, which inevitably causes substrate aging and component damage. Herein, a bis-hydroxy-imidazolium chloride salt as a hard segment to synthesize a waterborne polyurethane (WPU) adhesive is designed and prepared. When used in nano-silver-based printing coatings, it offers strong adherence for coatings, reaching 16 N cm -1 ; on the other hand, the introduction of chloride ions enables low-temperature (60 °C) chemical sintering to address the challenge of secondary treatment and high-temperature sintering (>150 °C). Printed into flexible circuits, the resistivity can be controlled by the content of imidazolium salts anchored in the molecular chain of the WPU from a maximum resistivity of 3.1 × 10 7 down to 5.8 × 10 -5 Ω m, and it can conduct a Bluetooth-type finger pulse detector with such low resistivity. As a flexible circuit, it also offers high stability against washing and adhesion, which the resistivity only reduces less than 20% after washing 10 times and adhesion. Owing to the adjustability of the resistivity, we fabricated an all-textile flexible pressure sensor that accurately differentiates different external pressures (min. 10 g, ~29 Pa), recognizes forms, and detects joint motions (finger bending and wrist flexion).

Background: The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) is a cost-efficient indicator for carcinoma prognosis. However, its utility in urothelial carcinoma (UC) prognosis is disputed. This meta-analysis aims to assess SII's prognostic value in UC., Methods: A thorough search of databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Scopus, was conducted to find studies until January 11, 2023. Eligibility criteria were applied to select studies. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were extracted from selected studies and compiled in a meta-analysis to gauge SII's association with survival outcomes such as overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and progression-free survival (PFS)., Results: This analysis includes 19 studies with 12505 UC patients. It was found that high SII significantly correlated with worse OS in UC patients (HR 1.430, 95% CI 1.237-1.653, P<0.001). High SII values also linked with poorer CSS (HR 1.913, 95% CI 1.473-2.485, P<0.001), RFS (HR 1.240, 95% CI 1.097-1.403, P=0.001), and PFS (HR 1.844, 95% CI 1.488-2.284, P<0.001) compared to low SII values. Subgroup analysis revealed SII's consistent prognostic value in UC across races, carcinoma types, sample sizes, and SII cut-off values, suggesting its potential as a prognostic indicator in UC patients., Conclusion: Current evidence suggests SII as a promising, cost-efficient predictor in UC patients. Conventional polyolefin separators are constrained by poor electrolyte wettability, inferior thermal stability, and low ionic conductivity, which seriously restrict their application in high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, cellulose nanofiber (CNF) as the matrix and tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) as the dispersion medium were used to prepare the pure CNF separators for LIBs by a facile filtration method. The effects of the drying temperature on the pore structure, electrolyte wettability, mechanical properties, thermal stability, and ionic conductivity of the separators were comprehensively investigated. The results showed that the freeze-dried separator at -80 °C with TBA as the dispersion medium (TBA-FD) had the best overall performance, with the porosity and electrolyte uptake up to 70.8 % and 296 %, respectively, as well as the ionic conductivity up to 1.90 mS/cm. The CNF separators had no apparent thermal shrinkage at 160 °C, illustrating good thermal stability. Moreover, the LiFePO 4 /lithium metal battery assembled with the TBA-HD (tert-butyl alcohol as the dispersion medium for heat-drying at 80 °C) and TBA-FD separators displayed superior cycling stability (with a capacity retention rate up to 97.5 % and 96.4 %, respectively) and rate performance. The solid-state lithium-ion battery is proposed as the ultimate form of battery and has rapidly become an updated attentive research field due to its high safety and extreme temperature tolerance. However, current solid-state electrolytes hardly meet the requirement in practical applications due to its low ionic conductivity, weak mechanical properties, and poor interfacial contact between the electrolyte and the electrode. In this work, we developed a double-network-supported poly(ionic liquid)-based ionogel electrolyte (DN-Ionogel) via a one-step method. Due to its compact cross-linking structure, the leakage-free DN-Ionogel electrolyte exhibits outstanding flexibility and favorable mechanical properties. In this ionogel electrolyte, the double network favors dissociation of lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfony)imide (LiTFSI), further resulting in remarkable ionic conductivity (1.8 × 10 -3 S/cm, room temperature), wide electrochemical window (up to 5.0 V), and high lithium-ion transference number (0.33). Furthermore, the cell (LiFePO 4 ||DN-Ionogel||Lithium) delivers a discharge capacity as high as 150.5 mAh/g, stable cyclic performance (over 200 cycles), and superior rate behavior.

Background: To investigate the chronic photodamage induced by the low-intensity blue light of phones, we carried out a clinical pilot study and established an animal model by irradiating SD rats with a homemade illuminator., Methods: Clinical investigation: A total of 25 clinical medical workers in our hospital were selected and divided into a control group and an observation group according to the daily video terminal use time. Multifocal electrophysiological system (Mf-ERG) was used for retinal functional examination. Animal experiment: A total of sixty SD rats were randomly divided into a control group ( n = 6) and an experimental group ( n = 54). The experimental rats were divided into nine groups, which were exposed to the blue light illuminator of the simulated cell phone array for different time. The visual electrophysiology of the rats was tested, and changes in structure were observed by H&E staining and transmission electron microscopy., Results: In clinical investigation, macular centers near the concave area retinal photoreceptor cells have reduced amplitude. In animal experiments, the amplitude of photoreceptor cells decreased, the peak time was delayed, and the amplitudes were lower in the experimental groups. H&E staining and transmission electron microscope showed retinal tissue structure and functional damage in experimental groups., Conclusions: Long-term exposure to low-illuminance blue light can cause retinal tissue structure and functional damage, and the chronic damage due to low-illuminance light warrants attention. A universal and low-cost biomass waste, soybean residue, that was derived from a soybean product processing plant, was used to fabricate nitrogen/sulfur co-doped, ordered carbon nanoarrays (NS-OCNA/S). The effects of nitrogen and sulfur co-doping and the addition of formaldehyde on the structure and properties of these novel materials were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques and galvanostatic charge/discharge tests. With high levels of sulfur doping, the nitrogen/sulfur co-doped ordered carbon nanoarrays (NS-OCNA/S) were found to possess hierarchical pores and a high pore volume. The NS-OCNA/S exhibited good electrical conductivity, excellent discharge capacity and cycling performance. When the NS-OCNA/S was used in Li-S batteries it was found that the charge capacity of the cell decayed from 914 to 739 mAh g -1 , with a capacity retention 81% over 600 cycles at 2 C. Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) as novel types of emerging materials have aroused tremendous attention in recent years. Herein, we report for the first time a new application of 3D CQD-based composite aerogels as excellent electrode materials for alkaline aqueous batteries. The scalable graphitic CQDs are prepared with high yields (>40%) and further utilized to fabricate the novel nitrogen-doped CQDs/reduced graphene oxide/porous Fe 2 O 3 (N-CQDs/rGO/Fe 2 O 3 ) composite aerogels with different contents of Fe 2 O 3 . Benefiting from the unique 3D network composite aerogel structure with a high surface area and hierarchical porous structure as well as the synergistic effect of high-capacity Fe 2 O 3 and highly conductive and stable N-CQDs/rGO, the composite aerogels achieve enhanced electrochemical properties with ultrahigh specific capacity, admirable rate property, and superior cycling performance. Furthermore, the N -CQDs/rGO/Fe 2 O 3 -1 electrode (Fe 2 O 3 , 34.9 wt %) exhibits the best rate capability (72.1, 58.9, and 46.2% capacity retention at 5, 50, and 100 A g -1 , respectively) and cycle performance (80.4% capacity retention at 3 A g -1 over 5000 cycles), while the N-CQDs/rGO/Fe 2 O 3 -3 electrode (Fe 2 O 3 , 62.3 wt %) displays the highest specific capacity (274.1 mA h g -1 at 1 A g -1 ). The current research provides a valuable guidance for developing high-performance 3D CQD-based composite aerogels for application in energy storage systems.
