Creeping fat is a typical feature of Crohn's disease. It refers to the expansion of mesenteric adipose tissue around inflamed and fibrotic intestines and is associated with stricture formation and intestinal obstruction. In this study, we characterize creeping fat as pro-adipogenic and pro-fibrotic. Lipidomics analysis of Crohn's disease patients (sixteen males, six females) and healthy controls (five males, ten females) reveals abnormal lipid metabolism in creeping fat. Through scRNA-seq analysis on mesenteric adipose tissue from patients (five males, one female) and healthy controls (two females), we identify a CCL2 + DPP4 + subset of mesenchymal stem cells that expands in creeping fat and expedites adipogenic differentiation into dystrophic adipocytes in response to CCL20 + CD14 + monocytes and IL-6, leading to the formation of creeping fat. Ex vivo experiments (tissues from five males, one female) confirm that both CCL20 + CD14 + monocytes and IL-6 activate DPP4 + mesenchymal stem cells towards a pro-adipogenic phenotype. Objective . Metal artifact reduction (MAR) remains a challenging task due to the difficulty of removing artifacts while preserving anatomical details of the tissue. Although current dual-domain networks have shown promising performance in MAR, they heavily rely on the image domain, which can be too smooth and lose important information in the metal-affected area. To address this problem, we propose an improved dual domain network framework. Approach . We enhance sinogram completion performance by utilizing an aggregated contextual transformations network in the sinogram domain. Furthermore, we utilize a prior -projection-based linearized correction method to obtain images with beam-hardening artifacts removed, which are incorporated into the input of the image post-processing network to assist in training the image domain network. Finally, we train the sinogram domain network and the image domain network separately to their respective convergences. Main results . In experiments conducted on a simulated dataset, our method achieves the best average RMSE of 25.1, SSIM of 0.973, and PSNR of 42.1, respectively. Significance . The proposed method is capable of preserving tissue structures near metallic objects while eliminating metal artifacts from the reconstructed images. Edible seaweeds are rich in essential vitamins and minerals, which made them a popular food worldwide. Porphyra haitanensis is one of the most commonly consumed seaweeds with the known ability to accumulate a high level of total arsenic (As). A large number of articles have shown arsenic and phosphorus (P) interactions in microalgae due to the plant's inability to differentiate arsenate from phosphate. However, very limited information is available for edible seaweed at environmentally relevant concentrations. In this study, P. haitanensis was treated with arsenic as As V (As1: 0.06 μM, As2: 0.4 μM, As3: 1.2 μM) and phosphorous (P1: 3.2 μM, P2: 13 μM) in a filtered seawater matrix under laboratory condition for six days. A better growth rate was found in seaweeds grown in P2 treatments. Moreover, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content measurements revealed that a higher P concentration prevent seaweeds from lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress. Transcriptome studies indicated the As replacement to P has the ability to target seaweed cell membrane composition, transmembrane transport, DNA and ATP binding. The inorganic As (iAs) had a concentration of 0.54 to 4.45 mg/kg in P. haitanensis on Day 6 with As1, As2, and As3 treatments under low P regime (P1), which exceeds the limits of iAs concentration (0.1-0.5 mg/kg) in National Food Safety Standard-Limits of Pollutants in Food (GB 2762-2017). High P regime (P2) not only reduced the total As but also iAs effectively, even in the highest As treatment (As3), the iAs concentration was less than 0.5 mg/kg on Day 6.
