Virtualization is the process of sharing physical machine resources into multiple Virtual Machines (VMs) for the effective utilization of resources. The major issues are in handling physical resources such as high demand of resources, infrastructure issues and operational issues. Also violating Service Level Agreement (SLA) is another problem to lead the violations. In this case, VM consolidation method is used to migrate the VMs and optimize the efficient way to use the resources. So we get minimized energy consumptions. Existing methods has increased energy consumption and overhead issues. In this paper we propose adaptive backtracking methods to provide VM consolidation based on less energy consumptions. We use Adaptive Hill Climbing and Pursuit algorithms to consolidate the VMs and use the VMs with efficient energy consumption. We implement this simulations using Matlab in Hybrid Cloud Environment. The performance factors are obtained with less energy consumption and compare the results with existing methods. Overall our proposed system is achieving 95% of accuracy index with lower energy consumption such as 28%, 30% and 32% with multiple VMs consolidations., (© 2024. The Author(s).)

Environmental electrochemistry and water resource recovery are covered in this review. The study discusses the growing field's scientific basis, methods, and applications, focusing on innovative remediation tactics. Environmental electrochemistry may solve water pollution and extract resources. Electrochemical methods may effectively destroy or convert pollutants. This method targets heavy metals, organic compounds, and emerging water contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and microplastics, making it versatile. Environmental electrochemistry and resource recovery synergize to boost efficiency and sustainability. Innovative electrochemical methods can extract or synthesise metals, nutrients, and energy from wastewater streams, decreasing treatment costs and environmental effect. The study discusses electrocoagulation, electrooxidation, and electrochemical advanced oxidation processes and their mechanics and performance. Additionally, it discusses current electrode materials, reactor designs, and process optimisation tactics to improve efficiency and scalability. Resource recovery in electrochemical remediation methods is also examined for economic and environmental feasibility. Through critical examination of case studies and techno-economic evaluations, it explains the pros and cons of scaling up these integrated techniques. Dissimilar metal combinations are frequently employed in the power generation and nuclear industries. Where stainless steel piping systems are connected to pressure vessels made of low-alloy steel, the subsystems of liquid rocket engines also have different, dissimilar material combinations. Dissimilar welding plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity, performance, and reliability of components and structures operating in cryogenic environments, in this study, plates of AISI 316L and AISI 321, each 5 mm thick, were successfully joined using the pulsed current gas tungsten arc welding (PCGTAW) technique with optimized process parameters. These weld joints are mostly present in rocket engines subjected to a cryogenic environment. Due to the low temperature environment, the metallurgical properties of these joints change, which affects their mechanical properties. As it is a structural part, PCGTAW welding is most common method for joining this kind of material. In this work, Microstructural analysis of the weldment revealed a combination of vermicular, lacy, and acicular ferrite morphologies in the fusion zone at the root, mid, and crown locations. Furthermore, no solidification cracking was detected in the weldments based on the optical micrograph and SEM results. Intergranular corrosion (IGC) testing indicated the absence of a ditch structure, suggesting that the heat-affected zone (HAZ) on both sides of the weld joint was not being susceptible to sensitization. However, the HAZ of the AISI 316L side exhibited coarser grains compared to AISI 321. Analysis of tensile properties revealed a significant influence of the testing environment on the tensile strength of the dissimilar welded joints. At room temperature, the average ultimate tensile strength (UTS) was measured as 621 MPa. Remarkably, at cryogenic conditions, the average tensile properties significantly increased to 1319 MPa. Microhardness analysis showed the highest hardness associated with the AISI 321 side. The fusion zone exhibited a large deviation in the hardness profile (205 ± 10 HV), with the highest average hardness observed in the middle part of the weld. However, the hot cracking behavior of the weld was investigated by using a suutula diagram at various locations of the weld. The investigation revealed that the Cr eq /Ni eq ratio exceeded the critical threshold value, effectively diminishing the propensity for hot cracking in the fusion zone. Overall, these findings underscore the effectiveness of the PCGTAW technique in joining dissimilar materials, as well as the importance of microstructural and mechanical property evaluations, especially under extreme operating conditions such as cryogenic temperatures. Bifacial photovoltaics (bPV) provide an advantage over their traditional monofacial counterparts as they can utilise solar radiation incident on both the front and rear side of the module, allowing for increased energy production. While this is an advantage on the side of bPV, the amount of energy produced by the rear side of the bPV panel can vary greatly depending on the inclination and azimuth of the panel as well as external climatic and ground albedo conditions. This paper aims to analyse the electrical and thermal performance of bPV under varying albedo conditions, using two different materials: grass, and a reflective material. It also contains an example of bifaciality testing under real-world conditions. Several experiments were conducted to evaluate the electrical performance and the temperature distribution of the bPV panel under different weather conditions at the UK location and then the results were compared with the single diode model of bPV. Furthermore, a bPV panel temperature model has been developed for the temperate climate condition of UK. The results show that the open circuit voltage of the system increases with irradiance up to around 800 W / m 2 , at which point it decreased due to the increased PV system temperature. Proper temperature regulation of photovoltaic (PV) modules increases their performance. Among various cooling techniques, phase change materials (PCMs) represent an effective thermal management route, thanks to their large latent heat at constant temperatures. Radiative cooling (RC) is also recently explored as a passive option for PV temperature regulation. In this paper, a heat sink (HS), phase change materials, and radiative cooling are integrated with photovoltaic modules to achieve low and uniform temperature distribution along the PV module and improved performance. Eight different combinations are considered for the proposed system, including HS, PCM, and RC, and their various combinations. The PCM is selected according to the environmental conditions of the selected location. A comprehensive 2-D model is developed and analyzed in COMSOL-Multiphysics software by solving the governing equations using the finite element method. The performance analysis is carried out for the climatic conditions of the Atacama Desert, having high solar radiation and ambient temperature. The effects of PCM height, ambient temperature, wind velocity, and solar radiation on the performance of the proposed system are studied. The performance of eight different configurations is also compared. The maximum reductions in PV temperature, maximum PV power, and a minimum drop in PV conversion efficiency are observed to be 22  o C, 152 W, and 14% using a combined heat sink and radiative cooling systems, among all other configurations. Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) have low storage and gastrointestinal stability, limiting their applicability. The work aimed to elevate the stability and behaviour of NLC in the alimentary tract by creating an alginate bead. Through the extrusion dropping procedure, Resveratrol (RES)-loaded NLC were efficiently integrated into alginate beads. The incorporation had no significant impact on the particle size, morphology, or inner structure of NLC, as assessed using DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infra-Red). Incorporating NLC into alginate beads improves its physical stability compared to dispersion of NLC as well as NLC-Sol. An in vitro release investigation found that the NLC-alginate beads released RES more slowly than optimized NLC formulation (RES-NLCs-opt) and NLC-alginate sol. Research on simulated in vitro digestive models revealed that just a small amount of integrated NLC may permeate stomach fluid due to its tiny size. The slow diffusion of NLC from alginate to intestinal fluid prevented aggregation and allowed for gentle hydrolysis of the lipid matrix. Incorporating NLC in alginate beads shows promise for improving stability, modifying gastrointestinal behaviour, and controlling release throughout the process of digestion., (© 2024. The catecholamine neurotransmitter dopamine is classically known for regulation of central nervous system (CNS) functions such as reward, movement, and cognition. Increasing evidence also indicates that dopamine regulates critical functions in peripheral organs and is an important immunoregulatory factor. We have previously shown that dopamine increases NF-κB activity, inflammasome activation, and the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β in human macrophages. As myeloid lineage cells are central to the initiation and resolution of acute inflammatory responses, dopamine-mediated dysregulation of these functions could both impair the innate immune response and exacerbate chronic inflammation. However, the exact pathways by which dopamine drives myeloid inflammation are not well defined, and studies in both rodent and human systems indicate that dopamine can impact the production of inflammatory mediators through both D1-like dopamine receptors (DRD1, DRD5) and D2-like dopamine receptors (DRD2, DRD3, and DRD4). Therefore, we hypothesized that dopamine-mediated production of IL-1β in myeloid cells is regulated by the ratio of different dopamine receptors that are activated. Our data in primary human monocyte-derived macrophages (hMDM) indicate that DRD1 expression is necessary for dopamine-mediated increases in IL-1β, and that changes in the expression of DRD2 and other dopamine receptors can alter the magnitude of the dopamine-mediated increase in IL-1β. Mature hMDM have a high D1-like to D2-like receptor ratio, which is different relative to monocytes and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). We further confirm in human microglia cell lines that a high ratio of D1-like to D2-like receptors promotes dopamine-induced increases in IL-1β gene and protein expression using pharmacological inhibition or overexpression of dopamine receptors. RNA-sequencing of dopamine-treated microglia shows that genes encoding functions in IL-1β signaling pathways, microglia activation, and neurotransmission increased with dopamine treatment. Finally, using HIV as an example of a chronic inflammatory disease that is substantively worsened by comorbid substance use disorders (SUDs) that impact dopaminergic signaling, we show increased effects of dopamine on inflammasome activation and IL-1β in the presence of HIV in both human macrophages and microglia. These data suggest that use of addictive substances and dopamine-modulating therapeutics could dysregulate the innate inflammatory response and exacerbate chronic neuroimmunological conditions like HIV. Thus, a detailed understanding of dopamine-mediated changes in inflammation, in particular pathways regulating IL-1β, will be critical to effectively tailor medication regimens.

Doping is a crucial strategy to enhance the performance of various organic electronic devices. However, in many cases, the random distribution of dopants in conjugated polymers leads to the disruption of the polymer microstructure, severely constraining the achievable performance of electronic devices. Here, it is shown that by ion-exchange doping polythiophene-based P[(3HT) 1-x -stat-(T) x ] (x = 0 (P1), 0.12 (P2), 0.24 (P3), and 0.36 (P4)), remarkably high electrical conductivity of >400 S cm -1 and power factor of >16 µW m -1  K -2 are achieved for the random copolymer P3, ranking it among highest ever reported for unaligned P3HT-based films, significantly higher than that of P1 (<40 S cm -1 , <4 µW m -1  K -2 ). Although both polymers exhibit comparable field-effect transistor hole mobilities of ≈0.1 cm 2  V -1  s -1 in the pristine state, after doping, Hall effect measurements indicate that P3 exhibits a large Hall mobility up to 1.2 cm 2  V -1  s -1 , significantly outperforming that of P1 (0.06 cm 2  V -1  s -1 ). GIWAXS measurement determines that the in-plane π-π stacking distance of doped P3 is 3.44 Å, distinctly shorter than that of doped P1 (3.68 Å). These findings contribute to resolving the long-standing dopant-induced-disorder issues in P3HT and serve as an example for achieving fast charge transport in highly doped polymers for efficient electronics., (© 2024 The Authors. Aim: To assess the level of total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in the unstimulated saliva of autism children and normal children., Methods: A total of 60 children participated in the study (autism children-30; normal children-30) in the age-group of 7-14 years, at a Special Needs Children's Home in Salem district. Both groups were further subdivided into subgroups of 15 children each (caries-free and caries-active). All children were given instructions regarding saliva sample collection, and unstimulated saliva samples were collected in sterile cryovials and transported to the laboratory at 4°C, where the TAC of saliva was evaluated using the spectrophotometric assay., Results: TAC of autism children was comparable to that of normal children due to personal care and improved diet. TAC was increased in caries-active children when compared to caries-free children in both groups. When comparing the mean values of TAC in caries-active and caries-free children of both groups, it was not statistically significant. Adherent cells ensure membrane homeostasis during de-adhesion by various mechanisms, including endocytosis. Although mechano-chemical feedbacks involved in this process have been studied, the step-by-step build-up and resolution of the mechanical changes by endocytosis are poorly understood. To investigate this, we studied the de-adhesion of HeLa cells using a combination of interference reflection microscopy, optical trapping and fluorescence experiments. We found that de-adhesion enhanced membrane height fluctuations of the basal membrane in the presence of an intact cortex. A reduction in the tether force was also noted at the apical side. However, membrane fluctuations reveal phases of an initial drop in effective tension followed by saturation. The area fractions of early (Rab5-labelled) and recycling (Rab4-labelled) endosomes, as well as transferrin-labelled pits close to the basal plasma membrane, also transiently increased. On blocking dynamin-dependent scission of endocytic pits, the regulation of fluctuations was not blocked, but knocking down AP2-dependent pit formation stopped the tension recovery. Interestingly, the regulation could not be suppressed by ATP or cholesterol depletion individually but was arrested by depleting both. The data strongly supports Clathrin and AP2-dependent pit-formation to be central to the reduction in fluctuations confirmed by super-resolution microscopy. The growing concentrations of micropollutants in aquatic ecosystems are a global water quality issue. Understanding micropollutants varied chemical composition and potency is essential to solving this complex issue. Micropollutants management requires identifying contaminants to reduce, optimal reduction targets, and the best wastewater recycling locations. Management requires appropriate technological measures. Pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, hormones, and other micropollutants can enter the aquatic environment from point and diffuse sources, with wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) distributing them in urban areas. Micropollutants like pharmaceuticals and hormones may not be removed by conventional WWTPs. Micropollutants affect the EU, especially in densely populated areas where surface water is consumed. This review examines several technological options that can be integrated into existing treatment methods to address this issue. In this work, oxidation, activated carbon, and their combinations as potential solutions, considering their efficacy and cost were evaluated. This study illuminates micropollutants origin and physico-chemical properties, which affect distribution, persistence, and environmental impacts. Understanding these factors helps us develop targeted micropollutant mitigation strategies to protect water quality. The suitability of biochar as a supplement for environmental restoration varies significantly based on the type of feedstocks used and the parameters of the pyrolysis process. This study comprehensively examines several aspects of biochar's potential benefits, its capacity to enhance crop yields, improve nutrient availability, support the co-composting, water restoration and enhance overall usage efficiency. The supporting mechanistic evidence for these claims is also evaluated. Additionally, the analysis identifies various gaps in research and proposes potential directions for further exploration to enhance the understanding of biochar application. As a mutually advantageous approach, the integration of biochar into agricultural contexts not only contributes to environmental restoration but also advances ecological sustainability. This review article critically evaluates the significance of adopting advanced biofuel production techniques that employ lignocellulosic materials, waste biomass, and cutting-edge technology, to achieve sustainable environmental stewardship. Through the analysis of conducted research and development initiatives, the study highlights the potential of these techniques in addressing the challenges of feedstock supply and environmental impact and implementation policies that have historically plagued the conventional biofuel industry. The integration of state-of-the-art technologies, such as nanotechnology, pre-treatments and enzymatic processes, has shown considerable promise in enhancing the productivity, quality, and environmental performance of biofuel production. These developments have improved conversion methods, feedstock efficiency, and reduced environmental impacts. They aid in creating a greener and sustainable future by encouraging the adoption of sustainable feedstocks, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerating the shift to cleaner energy sources. n-Type organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) and organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are less developed than their p-type counterparts. Herein, polynaphthalenediimide (PNDI)-based copolymers bearing novel fluorinated selenophene-vinylene-selenophene (FSVS) units as efficient materials for both n-type OECTs and n-type OFETs are reported. The PNDI polymers with oligo(ethylene glycol) (EG7) side chains P(NDIEG7-FSVS), affords a high µC* of > 0.2 F cm -1  V -1  s -1 , outperforming the benchmark n-type Pg4NDI-T2 and Pg4NDI-gT2 by two orders of magnitude. The deep-lying LUMO of -4.63 eV endows P(NDIEG7-FSVS) with an ultra-low threshold voltage of 0.16 V. Moreover, the conjugated polymer with octyldodecyl (OD) side chains P(NDIOD-FSVS) exhibits a surprisingly low energetic disorder with an Urbach energy of 36 meV and an ultra-low activation energy of 39 meV, resulting in high electron mobility of up to 0.32 cm 2  V -1  s -1 in n-type OFETs. Bifacial photovoltaic is one of the technologies that can spearhead Indian ambitions to achieve the 7 th United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Nationally Determined Contributions of COP 26. But, like all emerging technology, the lack of awareness and unavailability of extensive data, like technology potential maps that could aid people in identifying the advantages of newer technologies, has led to sluggish growth in the Indian market. To expedite the growth of bifacial PV in the Indian market, optimized resource potential maps of bifacial PV were developed from an experimentally validated view factor-based bifacial PV model. The annual average bifacial gain was found to vary between 2.5% and 22% at various locations in India. The effect of ground albedo and height of installation was also studied. Background: The present study was conducted to assess the relationship between drinking water fluoride (F) levels, dental fluorosis dental caries, and associated risk factors in the elderly population., Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 50 patients aged 25-60 years, selected by stratified random sampling from different areas with different levels of naturally occurring F in drinking water. The patients were assessed for dental fluorosis according to WHO basic survey guidelines. The overall oral health status of the patients was assessed by decayed missing filled teeth DMFT index and the bacterial count of saliva was calculated using the Caries Risk Test (CRT). Statistical analysis was done using mean, standard deviation, standard error, Z-test, Mann-Whitney U Test, and Chi-square test., Results: The results of the present study revealed that the prevalence of fluorosis was 24%. The number of patients with dental fluorosis was highest in those who consumed water with high groundwater fluoride levels irrespective of the source of drinking water. Caries prevalence in the study population was about 5.56 ± 1.95., Conclusion: There was a moderate prevalence of fluorosis in patients, and caries prevalence is high in areas below optimal F areas. Aim and Objectives: The aims of this study were to compare the changes in occlusal parameters, TMJ status clinically in patients after the completion of orthognathic surgery, and patients undergoing only orthodontic treatment and with patients having normal occlusion, using T-Scan., Methodology: This prospective controlled clinical trial, consisting of three groups with a sample size of twelve. Group 1 consisted of patients who underwent orthognathic surgery and orthodontic treatment. Group 2 consists of patients who underwent only orthodontic treatment (camouflage). Clinical examination of the patient (TMJ and Occlusal status) and T-Scan was performed at the time of debonding of the orthodontic brackets, 6 months and 1-year after first evaluation for group 1 and 2 patients., Results: The collected data between groups are compared and interpreted. The statistical analysis was performed using STATA/IC version 16.1 statistical software. Intragroup comparison for the study variables occlusion time, disocclusion time and maximum bite force between different time periods (T1, T2, T3) for all the three intervention groups using repeated measures. Hypothesis testing for maximum bite force, occlusion time and disocclusion time in orthognathic group (Group 1) as compared to orthodontic group (Group 2) for three different time periods using repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni test showed P value < 0.05 which is statistically significant., Conclusion: In conclusion, evaluation of occlusion using T-Scan give us an insight of the discrepancies in occlusion which is useful during pre-operative planning and especially in the post-operative follow-up period during the retention phase. Exposure to lethal dust particles has a negative impact on human's health. This work investigated the association between respiratory symptoms and eosinophil levels between quarry workers and the controls. A total of 75 workers exposed to quarry dust and 45 age, sex, body mass index-matched unexposed controls participated in this study. Results of this study indicated that the quarry dust particles produced inflammatory responses, increasing the mean eosinophil level (7.56 ± 2.94), causing allergic respiratory symptoms such as rhinitis , chest tightness, wheeze, sputum production thus impairing the lung function with decline in FEV1(80.84 ±108.8) level in workers exposed to quarry dust compared to controls (P≤0.00**) Conclusion: The presence of increased levels of respiratory irritants in quarry sites may explain the higher prevalence of respiratory infections and exacerbated inflammatory reactions found to ascertain the link between increased eosinophil count and the lung impairment in quarry workers., (© 2023 Biomedical Informatics.)

The present study was to evaluate the examination stress of the first year MBBS students, prior to their university exam by assessing the mood parameters and cortisol level. A cross sectional study was conducted in 150 students of Indira Medical College, Thiruvallur from January to February 2022. The assessment methods implemented were Self-administered, pre-designed questionnaire of DASS 10 scale scoring 0-40, and salivary cortisol by using quantitative ELISA on relaxed (before exam) and stressed (on day of exam) students with prior consent. Respondent data were analysed using the independent t-test and Odds ratio logistic regression analysis was done for strength of association by using (SPSS) version 26.0 and the level of significance *p≤0.05. The prevalence of stress (43%), anxiety (35%), depression (22%) and level of cortisol (2.61±0.41 and 5.14±0.35) between relaxed and stressed respectively were significantly increased due to examination stress despite any significant change in academic performance. Odds ratio of stress (95% CI 2.153), anxiety (3.038), depression (2.513) and salivary cortisol (2.872) were significantly high in stressed. Female students were found to be more susceptible to stress than male students due to examination (p≤0.001**). This study suggests that the medical education and examination are unavoidable stressor in first year students. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is an important cause of visual impairment in the working-age group. Deep learning methods have been developed to detect DME from two-dimensional retinal images and also from optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. The performances of these algorithms vary and often create doubt regarding their clinical utility. In resource-constrained health-care systems, these algorithms may play an important role in determining referral and treatment. The survey provides a diversified overview of macular edema detection methods, including cutting-edge research, with the objective of providing pertinent information to research groups, health-care professionals, and diabetic patients about the applications of deep learning in retinal image detection and classification process. Electronic databases such as PubMed, IEEE Explore, BioMed, and Google Scholar were searched from inception to March 31, 2022, and the reference lists of published papers were also searched. The study followed the preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis (PRISMA) reporting guidelines. Examination of various deep learning models and their exhibition regarding precision, epochs, their capacity to detect anomalies for less training data, concepts, and challenges that go deep into the applications were analyzed. A total of 53 studies were included that evaluated the performance of deep learning models in a total of 1,414,169°CT volumes, B-scans, patients, and 472,328 fundus images. The overall area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) was 0.9727. The overall sensitivity for detecting DME using OCT images was 96% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.94-0.98). India recently released its fifth National List of Essential Medicines 2022 (NLEM 2022). A critical analysis of the list was performed and was compared with the WHO 22nd Model List of Essential Medicines published in 2021. The Standing National Committee, since its inception, have taken four years to finalise a list. The analysis identified that all the available formulations and strengths of the selected drugs are included in the list, which must be avoided. Furthermore, the antibacterial agents are not categorised as access, watch and reserve (AWaRe) and this list is not aligned with the national programs, standard treatment guidelines and nomenclature. Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (I/R) causes damage to cardiomyocytes through oxidative stress and apoptosis. We investigated the cardioprotective effects of MnTnBuOE-2-PyP 5+ (BMX-001), a superoxide dismutase mimic, in an in vitro model of I/R injury in H9c2 cardiomyocytes. We found that BMX-001 protected against hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-induced oxidative stress, as evident by a significant reduction in intracellular and mitochondrial superoxide levels. BMX-001 pre-treatment also reduced H/R-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis, as marked by a reduction in TUNEL-positive cells. We further demonstrated that BMX-001 pre-treatment significantly improved mitochondrial function, particularly O 2 consumption, in mouse adult cardiomyocytes subjected to H/R. BMX-001 treatment also attenuated cardiolipin peroxidation, 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) level, and 4-HNE adducted proteins following H/R injury. Finally, the pre-treatment with BMX-001 improved cell viability and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity in H9c2 cells following H/R injury. Our findings suggest that BMX-001 has therapeutic potential as a cardioprotective agent against oxidative stress-induced H/R damage in H9c2 cardiomyocytes.

Autotaxin (ATX) is an extracellular secretory enzyme (lysophospholipase D) that catalyzes the hydrolysis of lysophosphatidyl choline to lysophosphatidic acid (LPA). The ATX-LPA axis is a well-known pathological mediator of liver fibrosis, metastasis in cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, atherosclerosis, and neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, it is believed that LPA may cause vascular permeability. In ischemic stroke, vascular permeability leading to hemorrhagic transformation is a major limitation for therapies and an obstacle to stroke management. Therefore, in this study, we generated an endothelial-specific ATX deletion in mice (ERT2 ATX -/- ) to observe stroke outcomes in a mouse stroke model to analyze the role of endothelial ATX. The AR2 probe and Evans Blue staining were used to perform the ATX activity and vascular permeability assays, respectively. Laser speckle imaging was used to observe the cerebral blood flow following stroke. In this study, we observed that stroke outcomes were alleviated with the endothelial deletion of ATX. Permeability and infarct volume were reduced in ERT2 ATX -/- mice compared to ischemia-reperfusion (I/R)-only mice. In addition, the cerebral blood flow was retained in ERT2 ATX -/- compared to I/R mice. The outcomes in the stroke model are alleviated due to the limited LPA concentration, reduced ATX concentration, and ATX activity in ERT2 ATX -/- mice. Neointimal hyperplasia is characterized by a loss of the contractile phenotype of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Our group has recently shown that VSMC proliferation and migration are mediated by lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) during restenosis, but the role of autotaxin (ATX; lysophospholipase D), which produces LPA, remains unclear. Endothelial denudation of the mouse carotid artery was performed to induce neointimal hyperplasia, and the extent of damage caused by the ATX-LPA axis was assessed in VSMCs. We observed the upregulation of ATX activity ( p < 0.0002) in the injured carotid artery using an AR2 probe fluorescence assay. Further, the tissue carotid LPA levels were elevated 2.7-fold in carotid vessels, augmenting neointimal hyperplasia. We used an electrical cell-substrate impedance sensor (ECIS) to measure VSMC proliferation and migration. Treatment with an ATX inhibitor (PF8380) or LPA receptor inhibitor (Ki16425) attenuated VSMC proliferation (extracellular signal-regulated kinases) activity and migration in response to recombinant ATX. Indeed, PF8380 treatment rescued the aggravated post-wire injury neointima formation of carotid arteries. The upregulation of ATX following vessel injury leads to LPA production in VSMCs, favoring restenosis. Our observations suggest that inhibition of the ATX-LPA axis could be therapeutically targeted in restenosis to minimize VSMC phenotypic modulation and inflammation after vascular injury.

Microplastics have been identified as an emerging pollutant due to their irrefutable prevalence in air, soil, and particularly, the aquatic ecosystem. Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are seen as the last line of defense which creates a barrier between microplastics and the environment. These microplastics are discharged in large quantities into aquatic bodies due to their insufficient containment during water treatment. As a result, WWTPs are regarded as point sources of microplastics release into the environment. Assessing the prevalence and behavior of microplastics in WWTPs is therefore critical for their control. The removal efficiency of microplastics was 65 %, 0.2-14 %, and 0.2-2 % after the successful primary, secondary and tertiary treatment phases in WWTPs. In this review, other than conventional treatment methods, advanced treatment methods have also been discussed. For the removal of microplastics in the size range 20-190 μm, advanced treatment methods like membrane bioreactors, rapid sand filtration, electrocoagulation and photocatalytic degradation was found to be effective and these methods helps in increasing the removal efficiency to >99 %. Bioremediation based approaches has found that sea grasses, lugworm and blue mussels has the ability to mitigate microplastics by acting as a natural trap to the microplastics pollutants and could act as candidate species for possible incorporation in WWTPs. The aromatic side-chains of phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan interact with their environments via both hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions. Determining the extent to which these contribute to protein function and stability is not possible with conventional mutagenesis. Serial fluorination of a given aromatic is a validated method in vitro and in silico to specifically alter electrostatic characteristics, but this approach is restricted to a select few experimental systems. Here, we report a group of pyrrolysine-based aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase/tRNA pairs (tRNA/RS pairs) that enable the site-specific encoding of a varied spectrum of fluorinated phenylalanine amino acids in E. coli and mammalian (HEK 293T) cells. Objectives: Tacrolimus, an important constituent of the immunosuppressant regimen for renal transplant recipients, can result in posttransplant diabetes mellitus. The adverse effect profile of tacrolimus is yet to be completely understood. The relationship between the blood level of tacrolimus and development of posttransplant diabetes mellitus has not been clearly elucidated in Indian populations. We conducted this study to investigate the frequency of posttransplant diabetes mellitus and other adverse effects of tacrolimus, to enumerate the risk factors associated with posttransplant diabetes mellitus development, and to correlate the blood levels of tacrolimus with its occurrence., Materials and Methods: This prospective observational study included 77 renal transplant patients receiving tacrolimus. The blood sugar levels (fasting and postprandial) were monitored, and patients were asked regularly about the adverse effects of tacrolimus experienced by them for 6 months posttransplant. Trough levels of tacrolimus in blood were correlated with occurrence of posttransplant diabetes mellitus., Results: Posttransplant diabetes mellitus developed in 62.3% (48/77) of renal transplant recipients on a tacrolimus-based regimen. Other adverse effects observed included tremors, diarrhea, alopecia, cyto- megalovirus infection, headache, biopsy-proven calci- neurin inhibitor nephrotoxicity, peripheral neuropathy, and BK virus infection. Higher tacrolimus trough level at month 1 posttransplant was significantly associated with the development of posttransplant diabetes mellitus (adjusted odds ratio = 1.379; 95% CI, 1.02-1.86). The best cutoff of tacrolimus trough level at month 1 posttransplant to reduce the risk of posttransplant diabetes mellitus was 8.1 ng/mL. There was a 5 times increased risk of developing posttransplant diabetes mellitus when tacrolimus trough level at month 1 posttransplant was >8.1 ng/mL (adjusted odds ratio = 5.4; 95% CI, 1.4-19.9)., Conclusions: Posttransplant diabetes mellitus is a common adverse effect of tacrolimus among renal transplant recipients. A trough level >8.1 ng/mL at month 1 posttransplant was an important predictor for posttransplant diabetes mellitus.

Illicit drugs are a novel group of emerging pollutants. A growing global environmental load and ecological risk is created by the ongoing release of these toxins into the environment. Conventional water processing plants fail to completely remove drugs of abuse from both surface water and wastewater. The origin, environmental fate and ecological repercussions of illicit drugs, despite their detection in surface waterways around the world, are not well understood. In this review, illicit drug detections in potable water, surface water and wastewater globally have been studied during the past 15 years in order to establish a baseline for future years. The most common drugs with abuse potential detected in different sources of potable and surface water were methadone (0.12-22.7 ng/L), cocaine (0.05-506.6 ng/L), benzoylecgonine (0.07-1019 ng/L), amphetamine (1.4-342.6 ng/L), and codeine (0.002-42 ng/L). The bulk of research only looked at a small number of drugs of abuse, indicating that despite widespread use, a large spectrum of these intoxicants has yet to be detected. This review focuses on the origin of illicit drug contaminants in water bodies, air, and soil, their persistence in the environment, and the typical concentrations at which they occur in the environment. Aim: The study aimed to identify the key pharmacogenetic variable influencing the therapeutic outcomes of warfarin using machine learning algorithms and bioinformatics tools., Background: Warfarin, a commonly used anticoagulant drug, is influenced by cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, particularly CYP2C9 . MLAs have been identified to have great potential in personalized therapy., Objective: The purpose of the study was to evaluate MLAs in predicting the critical outcomes of warfarin therapy and validate the key predictor genotyping variable using bioinformatics tools., Methods: An observational study was conducted on adults receiving warfarin. Allele discrimination method was used for estimating the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in CYP2C9 , VKORC1, and CYP4F2. MLAs were used for identifying the significant genetic and clinical variables in predicting the poor anticoagulation status (ACS) and stable warfarin dose. Advanced computational methods (SNPs' deleteriousness and impact on protein destabilization, molecular dockings, and 200 ns molecular dynamics simulations) were employed for examining the influence of CYP2C9 SNPs on structure and function., Results: Machine learning algorithms revealed CYP2C9 to be the most important predictor for both outcomes compared to the classical methods. Computational validation confirmed the altered structural activity, stability, and impaired functions of protein products of CYP2C9 SNPs. Molecular docking and dynamics simulations revealed significant conformational changes with mutations R144C and I359L in CYP2C9 ., Conclusion: We evaluated various MLAs in predicting the critical outcome measures associated with warfarin and observed CYP2C9 as the most critical predictor variable. Water treatment is a worldwide issue. This review aims to present current problems and future challenges in water treatments with the existing methodologies. Carbon nanotube production, characterization, and prospective uses have been the subject of considerable and rigorous research around the world. They have a large number of technical uses because of their distinct physical characteristics. Various catalyst materials are used to make carbon nanotubes. This review's primary focus is on integrated and single-treatment technologies for all kinds of drinking water resources, including ground and surface water. Inorganic non-metallic matter, heavy metals, natural organic matter, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, disinfection by-products and microbiological pollutants are among the contaminants that these treatment systems can remediate in polluted drinking water resources. Significant advances in the antibacterial and adsorption capabilities of carbon-based nanomaterials have opened up new options for excluding organic/inorganic and biological contaminants from drinking water in recent years. The advancements in multifunctional nanocomposites synthesis pave the possibility for their use in enhanced wastewater purification system design. The adsorptive and antibacterial characteristics of six main kinds of carbon nanomaterials are single-walled carbon nanotubes, multi-walled carbon nanotubes, graphene, graphene oxide, fullerene and single-walled carbon nanohorns. Context: Rotation corrected set-up margins in stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT)., Aims: This study aimed to calculate the rotational positional error corrected set-up margin in frameless SRT., Settings and Design: 6D setup errors for the steriotactic radiotherapy patients were converted to 3D translational only error mathematically. Setup margins were calculated with and without considering the rotational error and compared., Materials and Methods: A total of 79 patients of SRT each received >1 fraction (3-6 fractions) incorporated in this study. Two cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans were acquired for each session of treatment, before and after the robotic couch-aided patient position correction using a CBCT. The postpositional correction set-up margin was calculated using the van Herk formula. Further, a planning target volume&#95;R (PTV&#95;R) (with rotational correction) and PTV&#95;NR (without rotational correction) were calculated by applying the rotation corrected and uncorrected set-up margins on the gross tumor volumes (GTVs). Statistical Analysis Used: General., Results: A total of 380 sessions of pre- (190) and post (190) table positional correction CBCT was analyzed. Posttable position correction mean positional error for lateral, longitudinal, and vertical translational and rotational shifts was (x)-0.01 ± 0.05 cm, (y)-0.02 ± 0.05 cm, (z) 0.00 ± 0.05 cm, and (θ) 0.04° ± 0.3°, (Φ) 0.1° ± 0.4°, (Ψ) 0.0° ± 0.4°, respectively. The GTV volumes show a range of 0.13 cc-39.56 cc, with a mean volume of 6.35 ± 8.65 cc. Rotational correction incorporated postpositional correction set-up margin the in lateral (x), longitudinal (y) and vertical (z) directions were 0.05 cm, 0.12 cm, and 0.1 cm, respectively. PTV&#95;R ranges from 0.27 cc to 44.7 cc, with a mean volume of 7.7 ± 9.8 cc. Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), a multifunctional endogenous phospholipid, plays a vital role in cellular homeostasis and the malignant behavior of cancer cells through G-protein-coupled receptors. However, the role of LPA in β-catenin-mediated gastric cancer is unknown. Here, we have noted the high expression of LPAR2 in human gastric cancer tissues, and that LPA treatment significantly increased the proliferation, migration, and invasion of human gastric cancer cells. Results from our biochemical experiments showed that an LPA exposure increased the expression of β-catenin and its nuclear localization, increased the phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK-3β), decreased the expression of Axin2, and increased the expression of the target genes of the β-catenin signaling pathway. The LPA2 receptor (LPAR2) antagonist significantly reduced the LPA-induced nuclear localization of β-catenin, the primary signaling event. The knockdown of LPAR2 in the gastric cancer cell lines robustly reduced the LPA-induced β-catenin activity. An LPA exposure increased the ATP production by both oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis, and this effect was abrogated with the addition of an LPAR2 antagonist and XAV393, which stabilizes the Axin and inhibits the β-catenin signaling pathway. Based on our findings, the possibility that LPA contributes to gastric cancer initiation and progression through the β-catenin signaling pathway as well as by the dysregulation of the energy metabolism via the LPAR2 receptor and Axin2, respectively, provides a novel insight into the mechanism of and possible therapeutic targets of gastric cancer.

Agrowaste sources can be utilized to produce biogas by anaerobic digestion reaction. Fossil fuels have damaged the environment, while the biogas rectifies the issues related to the environment and climate change problems. Techno-economic analysis of biogas production is followed by nutrient recycling, reducing the greenhouse gas level, biorefinery purpose, and global warming effect. In addition, biogas production is mediated by different metabolic reactions, the usage of different microorganisms, purification process, upgrading process and removal of CO₂ from the gas mixture techniques. Nanoplastics are drawing a significant attention as a result of their propensity to spread across the environment and pose a threat to all organisms. The presence of nanoplastics in water is given attention nowadays as the transit of nanoplastics occurs through the aquatic ecosphere besides terrestrial mobility. The principal removal procedures for macro-and micro-plastic particles are effective, but nanoparticles escape from the treatment, increasing in the water and significantly influencing the society. This critical review is aimed to bestow the removal technologies of nanoplastics from aquatic ecosystems, with a focus on the treatment of freshwater, drinking water, and wastewater, as well as the importance of transit and its impact on health concerns. Still, there exists a gap in providing a collective knowledge on the methods available for nanoplastics removal. Hence, this review offered various nanoplastic removal technologies (microorganism-based degradation, membrane separation with a reactor, and photocatalysis) that could be the practical/effective measures along with the traditional procedures (filtration, coagulation, centrifugation, flocculation, and gravity settling). From the analyses of different treatment systems, the effectiveness of nanoplastics removal depends on various factors, source, size, and type of nanoplastics apart from the treatment method adopted. Reducing CO 2 emissions using biomass is gaining popularity as an environmentally friendly strategy. Due to high growth rates, low production costs, and ability to withstand harsh conditions, microalgae have become quite popular. Microalgae may also undertake photosynthesis, converting CO 2 and solar energy into sugar before becoming biomass, making them an excellent source of renewable and promising biofuels. The increasing trend of industrialization leads to tremendous release of industrial effluents. Waste water treatment is one of the important sectors to focus in order to overcome the most threatening issue of waste disposal and to ensure sustainability. Sustainable and energy efficient treatment methods are the attractive technologies for their current implementation of waste management. Even though the existing technologies are effective, unsustainability makes them unfit for their extended applications. Conventional and advanced technologies have been extensively implemented for the treatment of wide spectrum of effluents. Hybrid technologies including chemical and biological methods also emerging as promising technologies but secondary sludge generation is still unaddressed. Even though effectiveness of biochar varies over type of contaminants, cost-effectiveness and eco-friendly nature extended their applications in waste management. Nanotechnology and membrane technology are the promising and emerging areas of interest due to their widespread applications in waste water treatment. Carbon nano structures, nano filters, graphene, nano magnets modified with activated carbon are the potential candidates for the treatment. The bioremediation of emerging recalcitrant pollutants in wastewater via enzyme biotechnology has been evolving as cost-effective with an input of low-energy technological approach. However, the enzyme based bioremediation technology is still not fully developed at a commercial level. The oxidoreductases being the domineering biocatalysts are promising candidates for wastewater treatments. Henceforth, comprehending their global market and biotransformation efficacy is mandatory for establishing these techno-economic bio-enzymes in commercial scale. The biocatalytic strategy can be established as a combinatorial approach with existing treatment technology to achieve towering bioremediation and effective removal of emerging pollutants from wastewater. This review provides a novel insight on the toxicological xenobiotics released from industries such as paper and pulps, soap and detergents, pharmaceuticals, textiles, pesticides, explosives and aptitude of peroxidases, nitroreductase and cellobiose dehydrogenase in their bio-based treatment. Objective: The rational use of medicines as per the World Health Organization (WHO) should be practiced globally. However, data regarding the completeness of the prescriptions and their rational use is lacking from developing countries like India. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess the prescribing patterns of drugs and completeness of prescriptions as per WHO core drug use and complementary indicators to provide real-life examples for the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) online prescribing skill course for medical graduates., Methods: Prescriptions of the patients, fulfilling inclusion criteria, attending Outpatient Departments of various specialties of tertiary care hospitals, were collected by thirteen ICMR Rational use of medicines centers located in tertiary care hospitals, throughout India. Prescriptions were evaluated for rational use of medicines according to the WHO guidelines and for appropriateness as per standard treatment guidelines using a common protocol approved by local Ethics committees., Results: Among 4838 prescriptions, an average of about three drugs (3.34) was prescribed to the patients per prescription. Polypharmacy was noted in 83.05% of prescriptions. Generic drugs were prescribed in 47.58% of the prescriptions. Further, antimicrobials were prescribed in 17.63% of the prescriptions and only 4.98% of prescriptions were with injectables. During the prescription evaluation, 38.65% of the prescriptions were incomplete due to multiple omissions such as dose, duration, and formulation., Conclusion: Most of the parameters in the present study were out of the range of WHO-recommended prescribing indicators. Therefore, effective intervention program, like training, for the promotion of rational drug use practice was recommended to improve the prescribing pattern of drugs and the quality of prescriptions all over the country., Competing Interests: None

Graphene oxide can be used to store energy, as electrodes and purify industrial and domestic wastewater as photocatalysts and adsorbents because of its remarkable thermal, electrical, and chemical capabilities. Toward understanding graphene oxide (GO) based nanomaterials considering the background factors, the present review study investigated their characteristics, preparation methods, and characterization processes. The removal of contaminants from wastewater has recently been a focus of attention for materials based on GO. Progress in GO synthesis and surface modification has shown that they can be used to immobilize enzymes. It is possible to immobilize enzymes with varying characteristics on graphene-oxide-based substrates without sacrificing their functioning, thus developing a new environmental remediation platform utilizing nano biocatalysts. GO doping and co-doping with a variety of heterogeneous semiconductor-based metal oxides were included in a brief strategy for boosting GO efficiency. A high band-gap material was also explored as a possibility for immobilization, which shifts the absorption threshold to the visible range and increases photoactivity. For water treatment applications, graphene-based nanomaterials were used in Fenton reactions, photocatalysis, ozonation, photo electrocatalysis, photo-Fenton, and a combination of photon-Fenton and photocatalysis. Nanoparticles made from GO improved the efficiency of composite materials when used for their intended applications. Introduction: A denture wearer is highly prone to develop Candida -associated denture stomatitis (CADS) due to the conversion of the normal oral commensal Candida spp. into a pathogen under favorable conditions. Immuno-compromised status, trauma from the prosthesis, other systemic conditions, and improper maintenance of the dentures by the patient are few of the causative agents which turn the oral balance into an unhealthy and unsuitable foundation for the wearing of the prosthesis., Objective: The objective of this study was to compare subjects wearing complete dentures and nondenture wearers regarding Candida isolates associated with disease and colonization among the different age groups., Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 60 subjects, 30 wearing complete dentures (Group-A) and 30 nondentures wearers (Group-B), were matched for gender, race, and age. The unstimulated saliva sample was collected and cultured in CHROMagar using standard protocols., Results: The mean value of the candidal colony-forming units with respect to Group A is Candida Albicans 0.36 ± 2.008, Candida krusei 0.27 ± 1.061, P value Group B: C. albicans 0.73 ± 2.196, C. krusei 0.36 ± 1.084. There was a significant relation between denture wearers and heavy growth of C. albicans and C. krusei in saliva culture with a P value of P-0.054 and P-0.036, respectively., Conclusions: These results indicate that denture wearers with oral Candida had a higher prevalence of CADS. Background: Teeth are one of the strongest hard tissues that can resist a variety of antemortem and postmortem insults and an important evidence in the field of medicolegal and forensics. In the identification of unknown human remains of the deceased, stature estimation is a preliminary investigation. Previously, the comparison of osteometry with odontometry in stature determination has been made. Similarly, an attempt is made to estimate stature using intercanine and intermolar width which may be a forensic tool in the future., Aim and Objective: The aim of this study was to determine stature using intercanine and intermolar width in the maxillary and mandibular arches and correlating to identify highly reliable parameter among the two. Further to evaluate the usefulness of odontometry in stature determination., Materials and Methods: Subjects for the study were recruited from the outpatient department of APDCH and students of APDCH. One hundred subjects were included in the study comprising fifty males and fifty females within the age group of 17-28 years as per inclusion criteria. Digital Vernier caliper for measuring intercanine width (cusp tips on either sides) and intermolar width (central fossa of 1 st molar on either sides) on the study models and standard anthropometer for measuring the height of the subject (vertex to the floor)., Results: Compared to other parameters, the maxillary intercanine distance is statistically significant to P = 0.05 with correlation value of 0.06 by Pearson correlation method., Conclusion: The data collected were subjected to statistical analysis and was found that out of the four selected odontometric parameters, maxillary intercanine width with a P = of 0.032 and Pearson correlation of 0.307 in Group 1 (males) were found to show a significant correlation with height. Regression analysis was done, and regression equations were derived. The following regression equation can be used to calculate the height of an individual, Group 1 (male) -Y = B+ Ax. Y = 135.5 + 0.947X (X - maxillary inter canine width). This method of stature prediction may be of relative importance but not of absolute certainty, thereby making it an adjunct to various other methods of stature prediction. Biogas generation using food waste anaerobic co-digestion with activated sludge provides a cleaner addressable system, an excellent solution to global challenges, the increasing energy demands, fuel charges, pollution and wastewater treatment. Regardless of the anaerobic digestate end product values, the technology lacks efficiency and process instability due to substrate irregularities. Process parameters and substrate composition, play a vital role in the efficiency and outcome of the system. Intrinsic biochar properties such as pore size, specific surface properties and cation exchange capacity make it an ideal additive that enriches microbial functions and enhances anaerobic digestion. The pretreatment and co-digestion of food waste and activated sludge are found to be significant for efficient biogas generation. Electromagnetic interference is a serious and increasing form of environmental pollution, creating many issues in the areas of health care and industrial manufacturing. The performance of high-precision measurement equipment used in health care and the manufacturing industry is sensitive to electromagnetic interference. However, extremely low-frequency magnetic fields (ELFMF), with a frequency range from 3 to 30 Hz, generated by high-power lines have become the main interference source in high-tech foundries. This paper presents a magnetic cancelling system that works by combining active cancelling technology and passive cancelling technology to reduce the ELFMF around high-precision measurement equipment. The simulation and experimental results show the validity and feasibility of the proposed system.

One of the modern challenges is to provide clean and affordable drinking water. Water scarcity is caused by the growing population in the world and pollutants contaminate all remaining water sources. Innovative water treatment solutions have been provided by nanotechnology. Microorganisms, organic suspensions, and inorganic heavy metal ions, among other things, are common water contaminants. Since antiquity, a wide range of water clean-up methods have been employed to address this issue. Breakthroughs in water purification procedures have occurred during the previous four decades, with the most significant one being the use of nanomaterials and nanomembranes. Nanoparticles and nanomembranes (polymeric membranes) have recently been used in engineered materials (TiO 2 , ZnO, CuO, Ag, CNT's and mixed oxide nanoparticles, for example). Engineered nanomembranes, nanocomposites and nanoparticles have been used in this review article's discussion of water purification technologies. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a common diagnostic tool for measuring the seizure activity of the brain. There are many deep learning techniques introduced to analyze EEG. These methods show phenomenal results, although they are limited to computational complexity. Our objective was to develop a novel algorithm that gives maximum classification accuracy with a minor computational complexity. In this view, we have introduced a novel convolutional architecture with an integration of a hierarchical attention mechanism. The model comprises three parts: Feature extraction layer, which uses to extract the convoluted feature map; hierarchical attention layer, which is used to obtain weighted hierarchical feature map; classification layer, which uses weighted features for classification of healthy and seizure subjects. The proposed model can extract significant information from the EEG signal to classify seizure subjects, and it is compared with a few existing deep convolutional algorithms through experimentation. Surface and water bodies in many parts of the world are affected due to eutrophication, contamination and depletion. The approach of wastewater treatment using algae for eliminating nutrients and other pollutants from domestic wastewater is growing interest among the researchers. However, sustainable treatment of the wastewater is considered to be important in establishing more effective nutrient and pollutant reduction using algal systems. In comparison to the conventional method of remediation, there are opportunities to commercially viable businesses interest with phycoremediation, thus by achieving cost reductions and renewable bioenergy options. Phycoremediation is an intriguing stage for treating wastewater since it provides tertiary bio-treatment while producing potentially valuable biomass that may be used for a variety of applications. Furthermore, the phycoremediation provides the ability to remove heavy metals as well as harmful organic substances, without producing secondary contamination. In this review, the role of microalgae in treating different wastewaters and the process parameters affecting the treatment and future scope of research have been discussed. Though several algae are employed for wastewater treatment, species of the genera Chlamydomonas, Chlorella, and Scenedesmus are extensively utilized. Interestingly, there is a vast scope for employing algal species with high flocculation capacity and adsorption mechanisms for the elimination of microplastics.
