Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a high-grade B-cell lymphoma that most commonly presents with lymph node involvement. Extranodal manifestations are seen in around 40% of the cases involving the gastrointestinal tract, thyroid, testes, brain, and breast, among many others. However, penile metastasis is extremely rare and often overlooked in routine clinical evaluations. We present the unique case of a 79-year-old man with a history of DLBCL with extranodal involvement who achieved remission after completing five cycles of chemotherapy and presented eight months later with a new penile mass. A PET-CT scan of the skull to mid-thigh revealed bilateral pulmonary nodules, multiple lesions in the pancreas, retroperitoneal nodules, and an increased uptake at the base of the penis, leading to a biopsy of the penile mass that confirmed recurrent DLBCL with penile metastasis. The patient subsequently underwent surgical excision of the lesion and additional chemotherapy. This case underscores the importance of considering atypical sites of involvement in DLBCL patients and emphasizes the need for a timely diagnostic workup to ensure early detection and accurate diagnosis. Breast cancer is a global health challenge with staggering statistics underscoring its pervasive impact. The burden of this disease is measured in terms of its prevalence and the challenges it poses to healthcare systems, necessitating a closer look at its epidemiology and impact. Current breast cancer treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and targeted therapies, have made significant strides in improving patient outcomes. However, they are not without limitations, often leading to adverse effects and the development of drug resistance. This comprehensive review delves into the complex landscape of breast cancer, including its incidence, current treatment modalities, and the inherent limitations of existing therapeutic approaches. It also sheds light on the promising role of nanotechnology, encompassing both inorganic and organic nanoparticles equipped with the ability to selectively deliver therapeutic agents to tumor sites, in the battle against breast cancer. Introduction: Every organization needs well-trained employees to perform job activities effectively and efficiently. Training and development is a continuous process that helps to develop skills, knowledge, and abilities in its workers, which leads to better performance of employees. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of an induction training program for hospital employees as well as the impact on employee knowledge and performance in the clinical field according quality indicator benchmarks., Methods: A sample of individuals ( N = 775) who were newly hired, promoted, or re-categorized at our institution in 2021 were included in the program. The effectiveness of the induction training program was assessed with a pre- and post-test and feedback form. Topics covered in the training program will help employees know about the institute and increase knowledge and skills., Results: The average pre-test score was 60%, which increased to 84% after the training ( p = 0.0001). There was a significantly positive relationship between the quality indicators and the clinical audit results ( p = 0.006)., Conclusion: The induction training program effectively improved the employees' knowledge regarding their rights and responsibilities as well as clinical knowledge (i.e., Infection control and prevention, quality, disaster management, biomedical waste management, and facility safety)., Competing Interests: Source of support: None. Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an inherited disorder that impairs red blood cells (RBCs) and disrupts the delivery of oxygen to tissues. There is currently no cure. Symptoms can appear as early as six months of age and include anemia, acute episodes of pain, swelling, infections, delayed growth, and vision problems. A growing number of therapies are being investigated for reducing these episodes of pain, also known as vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs). The research literature evidence, however, currently includes far more approaches that have not shown superiority versus placebo than ones that have been proven effective. The purpose of this systematic review is to evaluate the body of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to determine the quality of support for and against the use of a variety of current and emerging therapies for treading SCD VOCs. Several important new papers have emerged since previous systematic reviews with similar objectives were published. This review was conducted according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and focused on PubMed exclusively. Only RCTs were sought, and no other filters, except for a five-year historical timeline cut-off, were used. Of the 46 publications that were returned in response to the query, 18 were ultimately accepted as meeting the pre-established inclusion criteria. The Cochrane risk-of-bias tool was utilized as a quality assessment measure, and the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations) framework was used to assess the certainty of the evidence. Among the included publications, five out of 18 featured positive results with superiority and statistical significance versus placebo for either reduction in pain score or number/duration of VOCs. The approaches featured therapies ranging from de novo molecules to currently available drugs approved for other indications to naturally occurring metabolites such as amino acids and vitamins. A single therapy, arginine, was supported for both clinical endpoints: pain score reduction and shortened VOC duration. Currently, two therapies are approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are commercially available (crizanlizumab, ADAKVEO and L-glutamine, Endari). All other therapies are investigational only in nature. Several studies included measurement of biomarker endpoints as well as clinical outcomes. Generally, beneficial outcomes related to improving biomarker levels did not also translate into statistically significant reduction of pain scores or number/duration of VOCs. While measuring biomarkers may contribute to the understanding of pathophysiology, it does not appear to directly offer predictive value toward treatment success clinically.
