Sunscreen formulations have undergone significant advancements in recent years, with a focus on improving UV radiation protection, photostability, and environmental sustainability. Chromophore compounds and nanoparticles have emerged as key components in these developments. This review highlights the latest research and innovations in chromophore compounds and nanoparticle-based sunscreens. It discusses the role of nanoparticles, such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, in scattering and absorbing UV radiation while remaining cosmetically acceptable. Chromophore compounds, encapsulated in nanoparticles, are explored for their potential to enhance UV protection by absorbing specific wavelengths of light. Additionally, advances in photo-stability, broad-spectrum protection, antioxidant inclusion, and biodegradability are discussed. Dendrimers are branched molecules with well-defined lengths, shapes, molecular weights, and monodispersity in comparison to linear polymers. The dual effect of the chromophore luminescence and the morphology of the synthesized dendrimers has drawn a lot of interest towards the design of dendrimers with different chromophores. Furthermore, the stimulus-responsive systems can sequester drug molecules under a preset set of parameters and release them in a different environment in response to either an exogenous or endogenous stimulus. The addition of photoresponsive moieties to different dendrimer components, such as the core or branches, magnifies the importance of the dendrimer in several related sectors of nanotechnology, such as sensors, photoswitches, electronic gadgets, and drug delivery systems. Nowadays, gels are formed by small molecules self-assembling under the influence of various non-covalent interactions. They can be easily perturbed, which allows for the careful tweaking of their properties. They are kinetically confined, and following production, they usually do not demonstrate time-variable changes in material properties. When exposed to external stimuli such as temperature, pH, light, enzymes, redox, and chemical analytes, such materials may become switchable, leading to the reconfiguration of the gel matrix into a different type of network. The transformations allow gel-to-gel transitions, while the changes in the molecular aggregation result in the alteration of the physical and chemical properties of the gel with time. Here, we discuss various methods used to achieve gel-to-gel transitions by modifying a pre-formed gel material through external perturbation. Hesperetin derivatives were synthesized through the esterification of acid chlorides with hesperetin under ambient reaction conditions with good yields. The product was confirmed using different spectral techniques. It was treated on zebrafish embryos to study the lethality, phenotypic deformities, and toxicity level of the compound. In that assessment, embryos showed lethality towards 3e at the minimal concentration. It assesses slow heartbeat since the compound loaded, the curvature on the back, upcurved fish, Cardiac chamber bulging, and poor survival rate in 72 h. 3a shows less toxicity more than other compounds. It shows only pericardial edema at higher concentration and 3c induced pericardial edema and upcurved tail at a medium range of the concentration. A series of sugar-based glycolipid derivatives were prepared by N-glycosylamines, and their organogelation property has been analyzed. We have observed the efficient gelation for some of the anilines substituted glycolipids derivatives in different aromatic and aliphatic solvents. It was found that the gelation occurred predominantly in aliphatic solvents with CGC of 0.8% (w/v) attributed to the presence of long alkyl chain in the glycolipids. The structural and morphological properties of the xerogels were investigated by NMR, powder XRD, and FE-SEM respectively. Silver chloride nanoparticles were synthesized from the cell-free culture supernatant of Streptomyces strain using green synthesis approach with good yield. The nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis, IR, SEM, AFM and XRD techniques. These nanoparticles exhibited broad spectrum of antibacterial activity towards Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Methicillin sensitive S. aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumonia at ≤ 2 μg/ml minimal inhibitory concentrations. In vivo bioassay in nanoparticles treated zebrafish embryos exhibited 16 μg/ml dose as maximal cardiac safety concentration and further increases in concentration revealed adverse effects such as pericardial bulging, mouth protrudation, hemorrhage and yolk sac elongation. The less toxicity of nanoparticles treated embryos in terms of cardiac assessment and lethality analysis was observed. The dose below 5 μg/ml is concluded as an in vitro and in vivo therapeutic dose. A series of fluorescein-based β-C-glycosyl ketones were synthesized through aldol condensation of β-C-glycosyl ketones with fluorescein monoaldehyde under ambient reaction conditions in good yields. Formation of the expected product has been confirmed through different spectral techniques. Facile glycosylation of a fluorescein diol derivative with per-O-acetyl/benzoyl sugar derivatives using BF(3)·Et(2)O catalyst resulted in the formation of the expected glycosides in 54-66% yield. The biological screening of the glycosides against different microbes shows good inhibitory activity.
