- Abstract
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections pose a significant challenge to healthcare systems due to their impact on older adults, particularly those who are frail. Implementing an appropriate vaccination policy for these patients could help reduce healthcare resource utilization and costs while enhancing the quality of life for elderly individuals and their families. This narrative review aims to present the latest evidence on RSV and the available vaccines. Of the five vaccines evaluated, three have demonstrated significant efficacy in individuals over 60 years of age. Based on the current evidence, it is recommended that individuals over 75 be offered RSV vaccination, with priority given to those with chronic heart or lung conditions, frailty, or who reside in long-term care facilities., (Copyright © 2025 SEGG.
