Pure zinc oxide and Sn-doped ZnO thin films were deposited on a pre-heated glass substrate from tin (II) chloride dihydrate (SnCl 2 .2H 2 O) and zinc acetate (Zn(CH 3 COO)) 2 precursors using spray pyrolysis technique. The doped films were achieved by adding various quantities of (SnCl 2 . 2H 2 O) precursor to the solution of zinc acetate in volume percent range of 0-10. Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) was used to characterise the prepared films to determine their thickness and elemental composition. To examine the films' optical characteristics, a UV spectrometer operating at room temperature and covering a wavelength range of 300-1100 nm was employed. The film's thickness and composition show that as the volume of Sn in the thin films increases, so does the film's thickness. With average transmittance values up to 70 %, all the films are quite transparent in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum and have a significant UV cut-off at roughly 380 nm. The reflectivity of Sn-doped ZnO films is seen to be independent of the volume of Sn in the films, and the reflectivity of the films diminishes as the wavelength increases. Sn-doped ZnO thin film has an optical band gap of 3.14-3.18 eV. Several biologic treatments are available in addition to intravenous also in subcutaneous form for treatment of chronic diseases. Benefits of the subcutaneous application of drugs include self-administration by the patient, shorter time of application process with less infusion related adverse events and consequently lower healthcare costs. With appropriate education and support patients are able to administer their treatments at home. This leads to improvement of quality of life, reduction of time needed to travel to the healthcare institution and consequently also reduces costs also for the patient.Over one million residents in the USA and 2.5 million in Europe are estimated to have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with substantial costs for health care. These estimates do not factor in the 'real' price of IBD, which can impede career aspirations, instil social stigma and impair quality of life in patients.The Virtual Community Meeting, which offered an exchange of experience and opinions from healthcare professionals who are active in treating IBD, and patients with this chronic disease, revealed in-depth arguments and answers to some essential questions: which patients prefer subcutaneous over intravenous dosing; which patients continue to favour intravenous infusions; what are the limitations regarding both applications; what is the patient's role in therapeutical decision-making and how does IBD affect the patient's work, finances and quality of life? The aim of this article is to discuss the differences between subcutaneous and intravenous dosing from the health-economic, scientific, and personal perspectives.The meeting offered strong confirmation that most of the patients and healthcare professionals prefer subcutaneous over intravenous drug administration but emphasise the management of risks associated with treatment compliance. Patient education provided by the IBD team in this regard is mandatory. Quality of life of patients is poorer during active disease, but the findings that it can improve over time, including as a result of home- or self-administration of biologics, may be encouraging for individuals with this chronic disease., (© 2021. A case of a middle-aged male, suffering from acute psychosis while in self-isolation due to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is presented. The patient required urgent hospital admission due to psychosis, which was only possible to COVID-19 unit of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the time. After transfer to psychiatric hospital, stool sample, taken as an additional preventive measure, was positive for the novel coronavirus. In addition, the patient experienced spontaneous virus reactivation few weeks later. There is a growing body of evidence confirming the involvement of oxidative stress and inflammation in pathogenesis of schizophrenia. Inter-individual variation in antioxidant capacity caused by different genetic profile could potentially influence patient's susceptibility to oxidative damage. In this study we evaluated the polymorphisms of manganese superoxide dismutase SOD2Val16Ala, glutathione peroxidase GPX1Pro200Leu, catalase CAT-262C>T and CATc.66+78C>T, and tumour necrosis factor-alpha TNF-308G>A by assessing their association with biomarkers of oxidative stress, neurochemistry, psychopathology of schizophrenia and extrapyramidal symptoms in Caucasian schizophrenia patients treated with haloperidol depot. TNF-308G>A was associated with the increased risk of parkinsonism. No major role of polymorphism of SOD2Val16Ala, CAT-262C>T nor GPX1Pro200Leu in psychopathology of schizophrenia or extrapyramidal symptoms was observed. SOD2Val16Ala polymorphism was associated with dopamine plasma concentration and blood concentration ratio between reduced and oxidised form of glutathione, while GPX1Pro200Leu was related with concentration of reduced glutathione. CATc.66+78C>T was associated with noradrenaline plasma concentration and PANSS negative score. PANSS positive and general scores, were associated with the increased risk of tardive dyskinesia. PANSS positive, negative, and general scores, and GAF score were all associated with the increased risk of akathisia.
