This case report describes the case of a female infant hospitalized for severe pneumonia. During the treatment process, various antibiotics are used to treat and prevent further infection. The child had a weak physical condition, combined with neuroblastoma, paraneoplastic syndrome, and low immune function, leading to Tsukamurella tyrosinosolvens infection. The treatment was eventually abandoned owing to poor prognosis. This study aims to through the medium, dyeing, electron microscope observation, 16s rRNA and high-throughput sequencing investigated the morphological characteristics, staining properties, electron microscope morphology, antibiotic resistance, and genomic characteristics of Tsukamurella tyrosinosolvens . Background: Empathy, as one of the fundamental principles of nursing professionalism, plays a pivotal role in the formation and advancement of the nursing team. Nursing interns, as a reserve force within the nursing team, are of significant importance in terms of their ability to empathize. This quality is not only directly related to the degree of harmony in the nurse-patient relationship and the enhancement of patient satisfaction, but also plays a pivotal role in the promotion of the quality of nursing services to a new level., Aim: The objective of this study was to gain a deeper understanding of the current state of nursing interns' empathic abilities. To this end, we sought to examine empathic performance under different profile models and to identify the key factors influencing these profile models., Methods: The study utilized 444 nursing interns from 11 tertiary general hospitals in Inner Mongolia as research subjects. The study employed a number of research tools, including demographic characteristics, the Jefferson Scale of Empathy, and the Professional Quality of Life Scale. A latent profile model of nursing interns' empathy ability was analyzed using Mplus 8.3. The test of variability of intergroup variables was performed using the chi-square test. Finally, the influencing factors of each profile model were analyzed by unordered multi-categorical logistic regression analysis., Results: The overall level of empathy among nursing interns was found to be low, with 45% belonging to the humanistic care group, 43% exhibiting low empathy, and 12% demonstrating high empathy. The internship duration, empathy satisfaction, secondary traumatic stress, only child, place of birth, and satisfaction with nursing were identified as factors influencing the latent profiles of empathy in nursing interns ( p  < 0.05)., Conclusion: There is considerable heterogeneity in nursing interns' ability to empathize. Purpose: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) is closely related to respiratory tract infection. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical features and prognostic factors of CRKP-induced pneumonia in acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) patients., Methods: A single-centre, retrospective case-control study on COPD patients hospitalized for acute exacerbation and CRKP-induced pneumonia was conducted from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2022. The mortality rate of acute exacerbation due to CRKP-induced pneumonia was investigated. The patients were divided into the CRKP-induced pneumonic acute exacerbation (CRKPpAE) group and the non-CRKP-induced pneumonic acute exacerbation (non-CRKPpAE) group, and the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors were compared using univariate analysis and multivariate analysis., Results: A total of 65 AECOPD patients were included, composed of 26 patients with CRKPpAE and 39 patients with non-CRKPpAE. The mortality rate of CRKPpAE was 57.69%, while non-CRKPpAE was 7.69%. Compared with non-CRKPpAE, a history of acute exacerbation in the last year (OR=8.860, 95% CI: 1.360-57.722, p =0.023), ICU admission (OR=11.736, 95% CI: 2.112-65.207, p =0.005), higher NLR levels (OR=1.187, 95% CI: 1.037-1.359, p =0.013) and higher D-dimer levels (OR=1.385, 95% CI: 1.006-1.905, p =0.046) were independently related with CRKPpAE. CRKP isolates were all MDR strains (26/26, 100%), and MDR strains were also observed in non-CRKP isolates (5/39, 12.82%)., Conclusion: Compared with non-CRKPpAE, CRKPpAE affects the COPD patient's condition more seriously and significantly increases the risk of death., Competing Interests: The authors report no conflicts of interest in this work., (© 2024 Ouyang et al.)

Human infections by environmental bacteria is becoming an increasing problem and has become a matter of great concern due to the adverse effects worldwide. In this study, we reported a new environmental pathogen. Isolate GX5518 T was a novel Gram-negative, aerobic, non-motile, pleomorphic and red-pigmented bacterium, was isolated from human wound secretions (GuangXi, People's Republic of China). Growth occurred at pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and 10-37 °C (optimum, 28-32 °C) with 0-1.5% (w/v) NaCl in R2A agar. Comparative analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that isolate GX5518 T was closely related to Fluviispira sanaruensis JCM 31447 T (99.73%) and Fluviispira multicolorata 33A1-SZDP T (98.49%). However, the estimated ANI values of the isolate GX5518 T compared to the F. sanaruensis JCM 31447 T and F. multicolorata 33A1-SZDP T were 88.67% and 77.35%, respectively. The estimated dDDH, ANI and AAI values between isolate GX5518 T and its closely related strains were below the threshold values generally considered for recognizing a new species. The genome size was 3.6 Mbp and the DNA G + C content was 33.1%. The predominant fatty acids (> 5%) in GX5518 T cells were iso-C 15:0 , C 16:0 , C 17:0 , C 17:1 ω8c and C 16:1 ω7c/C 16:1 ω6c. The major menaquinone was MK-8 (86.9%). The polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylglycerol (PG) and three unknown lipids (L1-3). The chemical composition was different from that of the F. sanaruensis JCM 31447 T . Comparative genomics analysis between isolate GX5518 T and its related strains revealed that there were a number of genes involved in resistance to antibiotics and toxic compounds in isolate GX5518 T , which were responsible for the copper homeostasis, cobalt-zinc-cadmium resistance, resistance to fluoroquinolones, and zinc resistance. Based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, and genomic analyses, isolate GX5518 T (= CGMCC 1.18685 T  = KCTC 82149 T ) represents a novel species of the genus Fluviispira, for which the name Fluviispira vulneris sp. nov. is proposed., (© 2023. Aims: To examine the factors influencing compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction in obstetrics and gynaecology nurses and to explore the combined results of multiple factors., Design: An online cross-sectional study was conducted., Review Methods: Data were collected from 311 nurses using a convenience sampling method from January to February 2022. Stepwise multiple linear regression analysis and mediation tests were performed., Results: Compassion fatigue in obstetrics and gynaecology nurses was in the moderate to high levels. Physical status, number of children, emotional labour, lack of professional efficacy, emotional exhaustion and the none-only-child can influence compassion fatigue; lack of professional efficacy, cynicism, social support, work experience, employment status and night shift were predictive of compassion satisfaction. Social support partially mediated between lack of professional efficacy and compassion fatigue/compassion satisfaction; emotional labour moderated in the mediated analysis model., Conclusion: Moderate to high levels of compassion fatigue was present in 75.88% of obstetrics and gynaecology nurses. Some factors affect compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction. Thus, nursing managers should consider factors and construct a monitoring system to reduce compassion fatigue and improve compassion satisfaction., Implications for the Profession: The results will provide a theoretical basis for improving job satisfaction and the quality of care in obstetrics and gynaecology nurses. And this may raise concerns about the occupational health of obstetrics and gynaecology nurses in China., Reporting Method: The study was reported according to the STROBE., Patient or Public Contribution: The nurses spent time filling out the questionnaires during the data collection phase and answered the questions sincerely.
