Objective: This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and influencing factors of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) hyperkyphosis in a Chinese cohort., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 607 patients with axSpA attending 12 hospitals across 11 centers from March 2022 to March 2024.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to explore the relevant influencing factors of hyperkyphosis. A nomogram model for impact factor visualisation and spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the influencing factors., Results: Multivariable logistic regression revealed that male sex,disease duration,patient global assessment (PGA),erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR),the modified stoke spondylitis score（mSASSS）,pharmacological treatment, and ankylosing spondylitis disease activity score-c-reactive protein (ASDAS-CRP) significantly influenced hyperkyphosis(all P < 0.05).Based on the results of the multivariate regression analysis, we constructed a nomogram model for clinical evaluation with an AUC of 0.98 and an accuracy of 0.95.Spearman correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between the spondyloarthritis international society health index (ASAS-HI) and mSASSS (R=0.16, P <0.001), while pharmacological treatment was negatively correlated with disease activity and mSASSS (R=-0.24, -0.18, P <0.001)., Conclusion: Controlling disease activity in the clinic is crucial. Active pharmacological treatment should be employed to delay radiological progression, enhance patients' ASAS-HI, psychological status, and physical functioning. Additionally, strict smoking cessation and weight control are recommended to reduce disability.

The depletion of the ozone layer has resulted in elevated ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation levels, posing a significant risk to terrestrial plant growth. Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ), adapted to high-altitude and high-irradiation environments, has developed unique adaptive mechanisms. This study exposed R. chrysanthum to UV-B radiation for two days, with an 8 h daily treatment, utilizing metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses to explore the role of WRKY transcription factors in the plant's UV-B stress response and their regulation of flavonoid synthesis. UV-B stress resulted in a significant decrease in rETR and Ik and a significant increase in 1-qP. These chlorophyll fluorescence parameters indicate that UV-B stress impaired photosynthesis in R. chrysanthum . Faced with the detrimental impact of UV-B radiation, R. chrysanthum is capable of mitigating its effects by modulating its flavonoid biosynthetic pathways to adapt positively to the stress. This study revealed changes in the expression of 113 flavonoid-related metabolites and 42 associated genes, with WRKY transcription factors showing significant correlation with these alterations. WRKY transcription factors can influence the expression of key enzyme genes in the flavonoid metabolic pathway, thereby affecting metabolite production. A theoretical reference for investigating plant stress physiology is provided in this work, which also offers insights into the stress responses of alpine plants under adverse conditions.

Objectives: This study was to evaluate the radiological and clinical outcomes of patients with juxta-articular giant-cell tumors (GCTs) around the knee treated with bone cement filling and internal fixation after extensive curettage., Patients and Methods: A total of 15 patients (6 males, 9 females; mean age: 35.3±8.4 years; range, 24 to 53 years) with juxta-articular GCTs around the knee were retrospectively reviewed between January 2010 and June 2020. Wound healing, functional status as assessed by the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) scores, local recurrence, metastasis, and complications were evaluated., Results: The mean follow-up was 41.3±9.9 (range, 24 to 69) months with an overall survival of 93.3%. The mean distance between tumor and cartilage was 6.29±3.73 mm. Five patients underwent reconstruction with cancellous allografts and the mean distance between tumor and cartilage was 2.20±1.48 mm in these patients. At the final follow-up, three patients had Kellgren-Lawrence Grade 2 tibiofemoral osteoarthritis in the operated knee. Lucent zones around the bone cement with no further progression were found in five patients. One patient experienced recurrence 17 months after surgery and was treated by en-bloc resection and reconstructed with a tumor endoprosthesis. The remaining 14 patients had a mean MSTS score of 26.86±2.11 (range, 23 to 30) at the final follow-up. The mean overall range of motion at the final follow-up was 109.20±14.20° (range, 85 to 130°)., Conclusion: Bone cement filling and internal fixation after extensive curettage is a viable strategy for accessing juxta-articular GCTs around the knee. The choice of local adjuvants, subchondral bone grafting, and the thickness of subchondral bone require more attention to preserve the continuity of articular cartilage.

The growing depletion of the ozone layer has led to increased ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation, prompting plants like the alpine Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ) to adapt to these harsh conditions. This study explored how abscisic acid (ABA) signaling influences R. chrysanthum 's metabolic responses under UV-B stress. R. chrysanthum was treated with UV-B radiation and exogenous ABA for widely targeted metabolomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics assays, and relevant chlorophyll fluorescence parameters were also determined. It was observed that UV-B stress negatively impacts the plant's photosynthetic machinery, disrupting multiple metabolic processes. Multi-omics analysis revealed that ABA application mitigates the detrimental effects of UV-B on photosynthesis and bolsters the plant's antioxidant defenses. Additionally, both UV-B exposure and ABA treatment significantly influenced the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway, activating key enzyme genes, such as 4CL, CCR, and HCT. The study also highlighted the MYB-bHLH-WD40 (MBW) complex's role in regulating this pathway and its interaction with ABA signaling components. These findings underscore ABA's crucial function in improving plant resistance to UV-B stress and offer novel insights into plant stress biology.

In the present work, we examined the effects of exogenous abscisic acid (ABA) under ultraviolet B (UV-B) exposure on gibberellin (GA) production, signaling, and antioxidant-related genes in Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall ( R. chrysanthum ). Using transcriptomics, acetylated proteomics, and widely targeted metabolomics, the effects of UV-B stress on R. chrysanthum and the regulatory effects of exogenous ABA on it were revealed from multiple perspectives. The findings revealed that R. chrysanthum 's antioxidant enzyme genes were differentially expressed by UV-B radiation and were substantially enriched in the glutathione metabolic pathway. Exogenous ABA supplementation boosted plant resistance to UV-B damage and further enhanced the expression of antioxidant enzyme genes. Furthermore, under UV-B stress, glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, and L-ascorbate peroxidase were found to be the primary antioxidant enzymes controlled by exogenous ABA. In addition, gibberellin content was altered due to UV-B and exogenous ABA treatments, with greater effects on GA3 and GA53. The acetylation proteomics study's outcomes disclosed that the three main oxidative enzymes' acetylation modifications were dramatically changed during UV-B exposure, which may have an impact on the antioxidant enzymes' functions and activities. The protective impact of exogenous ABA and gibberellin on R. chrysanthum' s photosynthetic system was further established by measuring the parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence. This research offers a theoretical foundation for the development of breeding highly resistant plant varieties as well as fresh insights into how hormone levels and antioxidant systems are regulated by plants in response to UV-B damage.

Four new species of the genus Tapinocyba Simon, 1884 are described from Jiangjin, Chongqing: T.centralis sp. nov. (♂), T.denticulata sp. nov. (♂♀), T.triangularis sp. nov. (♂♀), and T.virga sp. nov. (♂♀). The new species exhibit distinctive genital features, such as a bifurcated embolus tip in the male palp of T.denticulata sp. nov. and T.virga sp. nov. , and embolus tip unbifurcated in T.centralis sp. nov. The epigynes display more unique characteristics, such as epigynal plate with a pit ventrally on its frontal face in T.triangularis sp. nov. and T.virga sp. nov. , which is absent in all other known Tapinocyba species. Regular monitoring of blood oxygenation is important for disease prevention and treatment. Image photoplethysmography (IPPG) technology is a non-contact physiological parameter detection technology, which has been widely used in blood oxygenation detection. However, traditional imaging devices still have issues such as low detection accuracy, narrower receiving spectral range. In this paper, we proposed two improved detection methods based on the dual-wavelength measurement principle, that is, dual-band IPPG signal ratio method and dual-band IPPG signal AC/DC method. To verify the effectiveness of the two methods, we used different heartbeat period IPPG signals as sample data sets, and combined PLS and RF algorithms for model training, thus obtaining the best data processing method. The experimental results showed that the dual-band IPPG signal AC/DC method can effectively reduce the model training time. Linguistic rules form the cornerstone of human communication, enabling people to understand and interact with one another effectively. However, there are always irregular exceptions to regular rules, with one of the most notable being the past tense of verbs in English. In this work, a naming game approach is developed to investigate the collective effect of social behaviours on language dynamics, which encompasses social learning, self-learning with preference and forgetting due to memory constraints. Two features that pertain to individuals' influential ability and affinity are introduced to assess an individual's role of social influence and discount the information they communicate in the Bayesian inference-based social learning model. Our findings suggest that network heterogeneity and community structure significantly impact language dynamics, as evidenced in synthetic and real-world networks. Furthermore, self-learning significantly enhances the process of language regularization, while forgetting has a relatively minor impact. The results highlight the substantial influence of network structure and social behaviours on the transition of opinions, from consensus to polarization, demonstrating its importance in language dynamics. This work sheds new light on how individual learners adopt language rules through the lenses of complexity science and decision science, advancing our understanding of language dynamics.

Spiromesifen (SPM) is widely used for orchard mites and white fly control. The ecotoxicological data suggested that SPM is highly toxic to fish, but the information about its toxic effect on zebrafish is still obscure. In this study, adult zebrafish were exposed to SPM for 21 days. The plasma sex steroid hormone levels reflected the ratio of 17β-estradiol (E2) to testosterone (T) (E2/T) was significantly increased at 0.50 μg/L of SPM in male fish (2.4-fold, p = 0.049). Following 21 days' post exposure, distinct pathological changes were noted in gonad, males were more sensitive than female, which showed the interstitial connective tissue hyperplasia and widener in testis at 15 μg/L of SPM. In male fish, the relative percentage of spermatozoa was 13% decreased at 30 μg/L of SPM (p = 0.041). Which suggest SPM potential role in disrupting male gonad development. qRT-PCR results suggest that expression of follicle stimulating hormone receptor (fshr) was significantly down regulated in female zebrafish (0.29 fold of control, p = 0.010). Variable importance of projection (VIP) scores indicate the most important features separate in female and male. The different response of steroid level towards SPM between male and female zebrafish may due to the distinct regulation of key genes related in steroidogenesis and metabolism. Background: Since 1992, when recombinant hepatitis B vaccine was introduced in China, government health officials have used nationally representative serological surveys to monitor progress in prevention and control of hepatitis B. In 2020, we conducted the fourth seroepidemiological survey, which for the first time included medical evaluation of the clinical status of HBsAg positive subjects over the age of 15 and their medical management. We report survey results in comparison with the three previous surveys., Methods: Consistent with previous national surveys, the 2020 survey used a stratified, three-stage cluster random sampling method to select for evaluation 1-69-year-olds in 120 national disease surveillance points. Blood samples were tested for HBsAg, anti-HBV surface antigen (anti-HBs), and anti-HBV core antigen (anti-HBc) in the National Hepatitis Laboratory of the Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention of China CDC. HBsAg positive subjects aged ≥15-year were evaluated for evidence of liver disease, and through face-to-face questionnaire-based survey, we determined the healthcare management cascade of HBV-infected individuals., Findings: HBsAg prevalence in 1-69-year-olds was 5.86%; in children 1-4 years of age, seroprevalence was 0.30%; 75 million people were living with HBV nationwide. Among HBsAg-positive individuals 15 years and older, expert medical examination found that 78.03% were HBsAg carriers with no evidence of liver damage, 19.63% had chronic HBV with liver enzyme abnormalities, 0.84% had evidence of cirrhosis, and 0.15% had evidence of liver cancer. 59.78% of HBsAg + individuals were aware that they were positive before the survey, 30 million were unaware; 38.25% of those who knew they were positive (17 million) had medical indications for antiviral treatment, and 17.33% of these individuals (3 million) were being treated with antivirals., Interpretation: The decline in HBsAg prevalence in the general population, from 9.72% in 1992 to 5.86% in 2020, and in 1-4-year-olds from 9.67% in 1992 to 0.30% in 2020, shows progress that continues on track toward WHO targets for prevention of new infections. Understanding the mechanisms of natural source zone depletion (NSZD) will support an improved understanding of the long-term sustainability of NSZD as a site remedy and how NSZD rates may change over time. This is the first study that has quantified and compared the rate of three NSZD mechanisms (methanogenesis, vaporization, and aqueous biodegradation) between two chemically distinct light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) source zones (aliphatic-rich naphtha for Zone #1 vs aromatic-rich pyrolysis gasoline for Zone #2) within the same geologic and climate conditions. The rates of NSZD attributable to vaporization (400 mg C/m 2 /d vs. 300 mg C/m 2 /d) and aqueous biodegradation (92 mg C/m 2 /d vs. 67 mg C/m 2 /d) were similar for Zone #1 and #2; however, the rate of methanogenesis NSZD was 6x higher in Zone #1 (1000 mg C/m 2 /d vs. 170 mg C/m 2 /d). These results suggest that the aliphatic hydrocarbons content in an LNAPL source may be a factor in the rate of methanogenesis NSZD. For both Zone #1 and #2, total NSZD rate determined using this "three mechanism" measurement method was in reasonable agreement with two other methods used to measure total NSZD rates (CO 2 Gradient Method and Dynamic Closed Chamber Method), validating the "three mechanism" method as a tool to measure the total NSZD rate at a site and to provide an improved understanding of the predominant NSZD mechanism. Hyperalgesic priming, a form of pain plasticity initiated by initial injury, leads to heightened sensitivity to subsequent noxious stimuli, contributing to chronic pain development in animals. While astrocytes play active roles in modulating synaptic transmission in various pain models, their specific involvement in hyperalgesic priming remains elusive. Here, we show that spinal astrocytes are essential for hyperalgesic priming formation in a mouse model of acid-induced muscle pain. We observed spinal astrocyte activation 4 h after initial acid injection, and inhibition of this activation prevented chronic pain development upon subsequent acid injection. Chemogenetic activation of spinal astrocytes mimicked the first acid-induced hyperalgesic priming. We also demonstrated that spinal phosphorylated extracellular regulated kinase (pERK)-positive neurons were mainly vesicular glutamate transporter-2 positive (Vglut2 + ) neurons after the first acid injection, and inhibition of spinal pERK prevented astrocyte activation. Furthermore, pharmacological inhibition of astrocytic glutamate transporters glutamate transporter-1 and glutamate-aspartate transporter abolished the hyperalgesic priming. Collectively, our results suggest that pERK activation in Vglut2 + neurons activate astrocytes through astrocytic glutamate transporters. This process eventually establishes hyperalgesic priming through spinal D-serine. UV-B stress destroys the photosynthetic system of Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ), as manifested by the decrease of photosynthetic efficiency and membrane fluidity, and also promotes the accumulation of lignin. The MYB (v-myb avian myeloblastosis viral oncogene homolog) family of transcription factors can be involved in the response to UV-B stress through the regulation of lignin biosynthesis. This study indicated that both the donor and recipient sides of the R. chrysanthum were significantly damaged based on physiological index measurements made using OJIP curves under UV-B stress. The analysis of bioinformatics data revealed that the RcTRP5 transcription factor exhibits upregulation of acetylation at the K68 site, directly regulating the biosynthesis of lignin. Additionally, there was upregulation of the K43 site and downregulation of the K83 site of the CAD enzyme, as well as upregulation of the K391 site of the PAL enzyme. Based on these findings, we conjectured that the RcTRP5 transcription factor facilitates acetylation modification of both enzymes, thereby indirectly influencing the biosynthesis of lignin. This study demonstrated that lignin accumulation can alleviate the damage caused by UV-B stress to R. chrysanthum , which provides relevant ideas for improving lignin content in plants, and also provides a reference for the study of the metabolic regulation mechanism of other secondary substances.

Increased UV-B radiation due to ozone depletion adversely affects plants. This study focused on the metabolite dynamics of Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ) and the role of ABA in mitigating UV-B stress. Chlorophyll fluorescence metrics indicated that both JA and ABA increased UV-B resistance; however, the effect of JA was not as strong as that of ABA. Metabolomic analysis using UPLC-MS/MS (ultra-performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry) revealed significant fluctuations in metabolites under UV-B and ABA application. UV-B decreased amino acids and increased phenolics, suggesting antioxidant defense activation. ABA treatment upregulated lipids and phenolic acids, highlighting its protective role. Multivariate analysis showed distinct metabolic clusters and pathways responding to UV-B and ABA, which impacted amino acid metabolism and hormone signal transduction. Exogenous ABA negatively regulated the JA signaling pathway in UV-B-exposed R. chrysanthum , as shown by KEGG enrichment. This study deepens understanding of plant stress-tolerance mechanisms and has implications for enhancing plant stress tolerance through metabolic and hormonal interventions.

In mammal, the myocardium loss cannot be recovered spontaneously due to the negligible proliferation ability of mature mammalian cardiomyocyte. However, accumulated evidence has shown that terminally differentiated mammalian cardiomyocyte also has proliferation potency, which can be mediated by several mechanisms. Here, we reported that circNCX1, the most abundant circular RNA in mammalian hearts, can affect the proliferation of murine cardiomyocytes. The level of circNCX1 is significantly elevated during heart development. Forced expression of circNCX1 inhibits cardiomyocyte proliferation, while silencing of endogenous circNCX1 in cardiomyocyte shows reversed effect in vitro. Mechanistically, circNCX1 functions via negatively regulating transcription activator BRG1. It bridges BRG1 and FBXW7 to enhance the ubiquitination and degradation of BRG1, decreasing the expression of BMP10 to lead cell cycle arrest. UV-B stress can affect plant growth at different levels, and although there is a multitude of evidence confirming the effects of UV-B radiation on plant photosynthesis, there are fewer studies using physiological assays in combination with multi-omics to investigate photosynthesis in alpine plants under stressful environments. Golden 2-like (G2-like/GLK) transcription factors (TFs) are highly conserved during evolution and may be associated with abiotic stress. In this paper, we used Handy-PEA and Imaging-PAM Maxi to detect chlorophyll fluorescence in leaves of Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ) after UV-B stress, and we also investigated the effect of abscisic acid (ABA) on photosynthesis in plants under stress environments. We used a combination of proteomics, widely targeted metabolomics, and transcriptomics to study the changes of photosynthesis-related substances after UV-B stress. The results showed that UV-B stress was able to impair the donor side of photosystem II (PSII), inhibit electron transfer and weaken photosynthesis, and abscisic acid was able to alleviate the damage caused by UV-B stress to the photosynthetic apparatus. Significant changes in G2-like transcription factors occurred in R. chrysanthum after UV-B stress, and differentially expressed genes localized in the Calvin cycle were strongly correlated with members of the G2-like TF family. Multi-omics assays and physiological measurements together revealed that G2-like TFs can influence photosynthesis in R. chrysanthum under UV-B stress by regulating the Calvin cycle. This paper provides insights into the study of photosynthesis in plants under stress, and is conducive to the adoption of measures to improve photosynthesis in plants under stress to increase yield.

Lysine acetylation of proteins plays a critical regulatory function in plants. A few advances have been made in the study of plant acetylproteome. However, until now, there have been few data on Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ). We analyzed the molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis and stress resistance in R. chrysanthum under UV-B stress. We measured chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of R. chrysanthum under UV-B stress and performed a multi-omics analysis. Based on the determination of chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, R. chrysanthum Y(NO) (Quantum yield of non-photochemical quenching) increased under UV-B stress, indicating that the plant was damaged and photosynthesis decreased. In the analysis of acetylated proteomics data, acetylated proteins were found to be involved in a variety of biological processes. Notably, acetylated proteins were significantly enriched in the pathways of photosynthesis and carbon fixation, suggesting that lysine acetylation modifications have an important role in these activities. Our findings suggest that R. chrysanthum has decreased photosynthesis and impaired photosystems under UV-B stress, but NPQ shows that plants are resistant to UV-B. Acetylation proteomics revealed that up- or down-regulation of acetylation modification levels alters protein expression. Acetylation modification of key enzymes of the Calvin cycle (Rubisco, GAPDH) regulates protein expression, making Rubisco and GAPDH proteins expressed as significantly different proteins, which in turn affects the carbon fixation capacity of R. chrysanthum . Thus, Rubisco and GAPDH are significantly differentially expressed after acetylation modification, which affects the carbon fixation capacity and thus makes the plant resistant to UV-B stress. Lysine acetylation modification affects biological processes by regulating the expression of key enzymes in photosynthesis and carbon fixation, making plants resistant to UV-B stress.

Objective: To explore the pharmacodynamic effects and potential mechanisms of Shuangling extract against ulcerative colitis (UC)., Methods: The bioinformatics method was used to predict the active ingredients and action targets of Shuangling extract against UC in mice. And the biological experiments such as serum biochemical indexes and histopathological staining were used to verify the pharmacological effect and mechanism of Shuangling extract against UC in mice., Results: The Shuangling extract reduced the levels of seruminterleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-N), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and other inflammatory factors in UC mice and inhibited the inflammatory response. AKT Serine/threonine Kinase 1 and IL-6 may be the main targets of the anti-UC action of Shuangling extract, and the TNF signaling pathway, Forkhead box O signaling pathway and T-cell receptor signaling pathway may be the main signaling pathways., Conclusion: The Shuangling extract could inhibit the inflammatory response induced by UC and regulate intestinal immune function through multiple targets and multiple channels, which provided a new option and theoretical basis for anti-UC.

With the depletion of the ozone layer, the intensity of ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation reaching the Earth's surface increases, which in turn causes significant stress to plants and affects all aspects of plant growth and development. The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of response to UV-B radiation in the endemic species of Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ) in the Changbai Mountains and to study how exogenous ABA regulates the response of R. chrysanthum to UV-B stress. The results of chlorophyll fluorescence images and OJIP kinetic curves showed that UV-B radiation damaged the PSII photosystem of R. chrysanthum , and exogenous ABA could alleviate this damage to some extent. A total of 2148 metabolites were detected by metabolomics, of which flavonoids accounted for the highest number (487, or 22.67%). KEGG enrichment analysis of flavonoids that showed differential accumulation by UV-B radiation and exogenous ABA revealed that flavonoid biosynthesis and flavone and flavonol biosynthesis were significantly altered. GO analysis showed that most of the DEGs produced after UV-B radiation and exogenous ABA were distributed in the cellular process, cellular anatomical entity, and catalytic activity. Network analysis of key DFs and DEGs associated with flavonoid synthesis identified key flavonoids (isorhamnetin-3-O-gallate and dihydromyricetin) and genes (TRINITY&#95;DN2213&#95;c0&#95;g1&#95;i4-A1) that promote the resistance of R. chrysanthum to UV-B stress. In addition, multiple transcription factor families were found to be involved in the regulation of the flavonoid synthesis pathway under UV-B stress. Overall, R. chrysanthum actively responded to UV-B stress by regulating changes in flavonoids, especially flavones and flavonols, while exogenous ABA further enhanced its resistance to UV-B stress. The experimental results not only provide a new perspective for understanding the molecular mechanism of the response to UV-B stress in the R. chrysanthum , but also provide a valuable theoretical basis for future research and application in improving plant adversity tolerance.

Introduction: This study aimed to assess the association between long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotic prescription and the risk of psychiatric hospitalization in patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS) receiving clozapine., Methods: In this retrospective cohort study at a single tertiary psychiatric center, we analyzed rehospitalization hazard ratios (HRs) in refractory schizophrenia patients, classified by DSM-IV-TR and DSM-5 criteria. We examined various psychotropic regimens-clozapine with or without other oral antipsychotics (OAPs) or LAI antipsychotics. Subgroups were stratified by daily clozapine dosage and previous admissions., Results: A total of 719 patients were included in the study. Analyses were conducted on all the patients over 3- month, 6-month, and 1-year periods. Patients treated with a combination of clozapine and LAI antipsychotics (CLO + LAI) had a significantly higher number of previous hospitalizations ( P = .003), and a higher daily dose of clozapine ( P < .001) was found in the CLO + OAP group than in the CLO (monotherapy) group and the CLO + LAI group. Patients treated with LAI antipsychotic comedication had significantly lower HRs for rehospitalization in 1 year among 3 studied groups. Moreover, the protective effects of LAI antipsychotics were observed in all the subgroups stratified by daily clozapine dosage and number of previous admissions to represent disease severity., Conclusion: The combination of clozapine and LAI antipsychotics was associated with a significantly lower risk of rehospitalization compared to both the combination of clozapine and OAPs and clozapine monotherapy. We present wavelength-division multiplexed coherent transmission in an O-band amplified link enabled by bismuth-doped fiber amplifiers (BDFAs). Transmission of 4 × 25 GBd DP-16QAM (4 × 200 Gb/s) is demonstrated over a single span of 50-km length, occupying a bandwidth of 4.7 THz across the wavelengths 1323 nm to 1351 nm.

Rhododendron chrysanthum ( R. chrysanthum ) development is hampered by UV-B sunlight because it damages the photosynthetic system and encourages the buildup of carotenoids. Nevertheless, it is still unclear how R. chrysanthum repairs the photosynthetic system to encourage the formation of carotenoid pigments. The carotenoid and abscisic acid (ABA) concentrations of the R. chrysanthum were ascertained in this investigation. Following UV-B stress, the level of carotenoids was markedly increased, and there was a strong correlation between carotenoids and ABA. The modifications of R. chrysanthum 's OJIP transient curves were examined in order to verify the regulatory effect of ABA on carotenoid accumulation. It was discovered that external application of ABA lessened the degree of damage on the donor side and lessened the damage caused by UV-B stress on R. chrysanthum . Additionally, integrated metabolomics and transcriptomics were used to examine the changes in differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differential metabolites (DMs) in R. chrysanthum in order to have a better understanding of the role that ABA plays in carotenoid accumulation. The findings indicated that the majority of DEGs were connected to carotenoid accumulation and ABA signaling sensing. To sum up, we proposed a method for R. chrysanthum carotenoid accumulation. UV-B stress activates ABA production, which then interacts with transcription factors to limit photosynthesis and accumulate carotenoids, such as MYB-enhanced carotenoid biosynthesis. This study showed that R. chrysanthum 's damage from UV-B exposure was lessened by carotenoid accumulation, and it also offered helpful suggestions for raising the carotenoid content of plants.

Objective: To examine the therapeutic effects of vitamin E combined with recombinant human epidermal growth factor on recurrent oral ulcers as well as on the levels of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD), interleukin-10 (IL-10), and tumor necrosis factor- (TNF-α), to provide evidence to facilitate medical management., Method: From June 2021 to May 2022, 84 patients with recurrent oral ulcers assessed and treated in our hospital were assigned to the control group and observation group with 42 cases in each group. Vitamin E was administered to the control group, while recombinant human epidermal growth factor and vitamin E were administered to the observation group. The clinical efficacy, serum SOD level, inflammatory factor level (IL-10, TNF-α), immune function index, clinical symptom improvement, pain disappearance time, healing time of ulcer surface, and adverse reactions were examined., Results: Clinical efficacy of the observation group (92.86%) was considerably greater than the control group (73.81%), (P < .05). Following treatment, the observation group had comparatively higher levels of serum SOD and significantly decreased TNF-α and IL-10 concentrations compared to the control group (P < .05). Similarly, post-treatment, the observation group had substantially higher CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ concentrations and lower CD8+ concentrations compared to the normal control (P < .05). In contrast to the control group, the observation group's pain degree score, ulcer diameter, duration for pain relief, and ulcer surface healing time duration were reduced substantially (P < .05). Notably, the incidence of adverse reactions was fairly similar in both groups (P > .05)., Conclusion: Vitamin E combined with recombinant human epidermal growth factor has a significant clinical effect on recurrent oral ulcers, can achieve rapid improvement of symptoms in patients, and is relatively safe to be used as a clinical therapy.

Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. ( R. chrysanthum ), a plant with UV-B resistance mechanisms that can adapt to alpine environments, has gained attention as an important plant resource with the ability to cope with UV-B stress. In this experiment, R. chrysanthums derived from the same origin were migrated to different culture environments (artificial climate chamber and intelligent artificial incubator) to obtain two forms of R. chrysanthum . After UV-B irradiation, 404 metabolites and 93,034 unigenes were detected. Twenty-six of these different metabolites were classified as UV-B-responsive metabolites. Glyceric acid is used as a potential UV-B stress biomarker. The domesticated Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. had high amino acid and SOD contents. The study shows that the domesticated Rhododendron chrysanthum Pall. has significant UV-B resistance. The transcriptomics results show that the trends of DEGs after UV-B radiation were similar for both forms of R. chrysanthum : cellular process and metabolic process accounted for a higher proportion in biological processes, cellular anatomical entity accounted for the highest proportion in the cellular component, and catalytic activity and binding accounted for the highest proportion in the molecular function category. Through comparative study, the forms of metabolites resistant to UV-B stress in plants can be reflected, and UV-B radiation absorption complexes can be screened for application in future specific practices. Moreover, by comparing the differences in response to UV-B stress between the two forms of R. chrysanthum , references can be provided for cultivating domesticated plants with UV-B stress resistance characteristics. Research on the complex mechanism of plant adaptation to UV-B will be aided by these results.

Background: The diagnostic criteria and phenotypes in polycystic ovary syndrome are heterogeneous. Currently, it is unclear how to assess a patient's prognosis based on the onset time of menstruation disturbance. Evidence on this topic is scarce and has mainly focused on menstrual patterns., Objective: This study aimed to assess the association between the onset time of menstrual disturbance and clinical features and in vitro fertilization pregnancy outcomes in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome., Study Design: Our study was a secondary analysis of data collected as part of a randomized controlled trial conducted to compare live birth rates between fresh embryo transfer and frozen embryo transfer in 1508 individuals with polycystic ovary syndrome. Here, 1500 participants were classified into 2 groups according to the onset time of menstrual disturbance: immediately after menarche (early group) and after at least 1 year of regular menstruation (late group). We compared the prepregnancy clinical features, variables of ovarian stimulation, pregnancy outcomes after the initial cycle of embryo transfer, and perinatal and neonatal complications in the 2 groups., Results: Compared with the late group, the early group had more antral follicles (32.00 [range, 27.25-39.50] vs 28.00 [range, 24.00-36.00]; P <.001), an elevated level of antimüllerian hormone (7.02 ng/mL [range, 3.60-11.47] vs 5.66 ng/mL [range, 3.65-8.92]; P =.024), a higher level of baseline luteinizing hormone (10.01±5.93 vs 8.51±5.53 IU/l; P <.001) and luteinizing hormone-to-follicle-stimulating hormone ratio (1.51 [range, 1.00-2.32] vs 1.45 [range, 0.92-2.13]; P <.001), lower levels of fasting glucose (5.47 mmol/L [range, 5.11-5.73] vs 5.50 mmol/L [range, 5.17-5.76]; P <.001), and insulin at 2 hours after 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (56.85 µU/mL [range, 34.63-94.54] vs 59.82 µU/mL [range, 33.56-94.67]; P =.027), a higher level of high-density lipoprotein (1.26 mmol/L [range, 1.04-1.37] vs 1.21 mmol/L [range, 1.07-1.45]; P =.006). During in vitro fertilization, the early group had a higher level of peak estradiol (4596.50 pg/mL [range, 2639.25-6321.00] vs 3954.00 pg/mL [range, 2378.75-6113.50]; P =.013), and luteinizing hormone (2.52 IU/L [range, 1.40-4.21] vs 1.93 IU/L [range, 0.91-3.32]; P =.010) on the day of human chorionic gonadotropin trigger. There was no statistically significant difference observed in the number of oocytes and embryos, the rates of pregnancy and live birth, and the risks of obstetrical and neonatal between the 2 groups., Conclusion: An early onset of menstrual disturbance in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome may be associated with slightly more severe reproductive features and slightly milder metabolic features. Background: Frozen embryo transfer resulted in a higher birthweight and an increased risk of macrosomia than fresh embryo transfer. However, the mechanism was still unclear. When the impact of frozen embryo transfer on fetal growth began was unknown. Crown-rump length at 11-13 weeks had been regarded as a good indicator of fetal growth in the first trimester and had been used for gestational age calculation in women with uncertain last menstrual periods., Objective: To evaluate the association between frozen embryo transfer and early fetal growth, particularly the crown-rump length, then fresh embryo transfer. The secondary objective was to investigate the potential correlation between crown-rump length and birthweight., Study Design: This was a retrospective cohort study conducted at the Reproductive Medical Center of Shandong University. A total of 4949 patients who obtained singleton pregnancy after frozen embryo transfer and 1793 patients who got singleton pregnancy after fresh embryo transfer between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2022 were included. The primary outcome was the crown-rump length measured via ultrasound at 11-13 weeks gestation. The secondary outcomes were perinatal outcomes, including birthweight and the risk of large for gestational age, small for gestational age, macrosomia, low birthweight, and premature delivery. Multivariable linear regression models were used to adjust for potential confounders of crown-rump length., Results: A total of 6742 live singleton births after frozen embryo transfer or fresh embryo transfer were included in this study. In the univariable analysis, the frozen embryo transfer group had a larger crown-rump length (5.75±0.53 cm vs 5.57±0.48 cm, P <.001) and an increased risk of larger-than-expected crown-rump length (13.5% vs11.2%, P =.013) than the fresh embryo transfer group. After adjusting for confounders in multivariable linear regression models, frozen embryo transfer was still associated with a larger crown-rump length (regression coefficient, 3.809 [95% confidence intervals, 3.621-3.997], P <.001). When subgrouped by fetal gender, the crown-rump length of the frozen embryo transfer group was larger than the fresh embryo transfer group in both male and female fetuses. In addition, the crown-rump length was consistently larger in the frozen embryo transfer group than the fresh embryo transfer group in subgroups of the peak estradiol levels. The comparisons among different crown-rump length groups showed that smaller-than-expected crown-rump length was associated with increased risks of small for gestational age (6.3% vs 3.0%, P <.001) and preterm delivery (9.6% vs 6.7%, P =.004) than normal crown-rump length., Conclusion: Frozen embryo transfer was associated with a larger crown-rump length than fresh embryo transfer, suggesting that the effect of frozen embryo transfer on fetal growth may begin in the early trimester. Intercropping is a widely used agricultural system; however, the effect of intercropping between accumulator plants on phytoextraction in heavy metal-contaminated soils remains unknown. Here, a field experiment was conducted to investigate the phytoextraction efficiency and related environmental effects of three Amaranthaceae plants (Amaranthus hypochondriacus, Celosia argentea, and Pfaffia glomerata) using mono- and intercropping models. In monocropping, the total biomass of A. hypochondriacus was only 51.2 % of that of C. argentea. Compared with monocropping, intercropping reduced the fresh weight per plant of A. hypochondriacus by 53.0 % (intercropping with C. argentea) and 40.5 % (intercropping with P. glomerata) but increased the biomass per plant of C. argentea and P. glomerata by 128.2 and 14.2 %, respectively. The Cd uptake of the three plants in the monocropping models showed the following trend: C. argentea > P. glomerata > A. hypochondriacus. Interplanting A. hypochondriacus and C. argentea further increased the phytoextraction efficiency by 361.2 % (compared with A. hypochondriacus monocropping) and 52.0 % (compared with C. argentea monocropping). Soil exchangeable Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, K, and P, soil N-NO 3 - and N-NH 4 + , soil common bacteria and arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) fungi, and soil total organic carbon (TOC) play key roles in Cd and Pb uptake by the three accumulator plants (p < 0.05). The biomass of common bacteria, Gm + , Gm - bacteria, fungi, AM fungi, and actinomycetes increased with the three accumulators planted in the mono- and intercropping models. Compared with C. argentea monocropping, the biomass of soil microbes in the rhizosphere soil was obviously increased in the intercropping A. hypochondriacus and C. argentea models. Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation between various factors and the clinical outcomes of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) in both young and aged patients, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for clinical consultations., Methods: This retrospective analysis examined a total of 4,221 IUI cycles conducted at the Reproductive Center of Changzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital between January 2016 and December 2020. The patients were categorized into two groups based on age: the elder group (≥ 35 years) and the young group (< 35 years)., Results: The findings of this study revealed a significant association between woman's age and BMI with pregnancy outcomes (0.93, 95% CI: 0.89-0.97) (1.04, 95% CI: 1.01-1.06). Moreover, in young women, both age and Body Mass Index (BMI)were found to be related to pregnancy outcomes (0.97, 95% CI: 0.89-0.97) (1.08, 95% CI: 1.01-1.06). Additionally, BMI and the number of cycles in aged IUI patients were found to be associated with pregnancy outcomes. The pregnancy rate in the second cycle was approximately 1.9 times higher than that in the first cycle (1.9, 95% CI: 0.97-3.77), and in the third cycle, it was approximately 3 times higher than that in the first cycle (3.04, 95% CI: 1.43-6.42)., Conclusions: In conclusion, there is an association between woman's age and BMI and the clinical outcomes of IUI. However, the number of cycles did not affect the pregnancy outcomes in young women. Conversely, in elder women, the number of cycles was found to be related to the IUI pregnancy outcomes, with significantly higher pregnancy rates observed in the second and third cycles compared to the first cycle., (© 2024. Stroke is the main cause of disability in the middle and old age. Hemiplegia, especially lower limb paralysis, often leads to the loss of self-care ability and a series of secondary injuries. The main method to improve hemiplegic limb movement is exercise therapy, but there are still many patients with disabilities after rehabilitation treatment. As one of the non-pharmacological therapies for stroke, acupuncture has been recognized to improve motor function in patients. Here, we propose a new method, anterior sciatic nerve acupuncture, which can stimulate both the femoral nerve and the sciatic nerve. We designed this study to determine the effect of this method on lower limb motor function. Sixty participants recruited with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction will be randomly assigned to the test group or control group in a 1:1 ratio. The control group will receive Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture, and the test group will receive anterior sciatic nerve acupuncture on this basis. All participants will get acupuncture treatment once a day, 6 times a week for 2 weeks. The primary outcome is Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Lower Extremity and the secondary outcomes are Modified Ashworth Scale and Modified Barthel Index. Data will be collected before treatment, 1 week after treatment, and 2 weeks after treatment, and then statistical analysis will be performed. This study can preliminarily verify the effect of anterior sciatic nerve acupuncture on improving lower limb motor function in patients with cerebral infarction, which may provide an alternative approach for clinical treatment of hemiplegia.

The Northern Sea Route (NSR) makes travel between Europe and Asia shorter and quicker than a southern transit via the Strait of Malacca and Suez Canal. It provides greater access to Arctic resources such as oil and gas. As global warming accelerates, melting Arctic ice caps are likely to increase traffic in the NSR and enhance its commercial viability. Due to the harsh Arctic environment imposing threats to the safety of ship navigation, it is necessary to assess Arctic navigation risk to maintain shipping safety. Currently, most studies are focused on the conventional assessment of the risk, which lacks the validation based on actual data. In this study, actual data about Arctic navigation environment and related expert judgments were used to generate a structured data set. Based on the structured data set, extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) and alternative methods were used to establish models for the assessment of Arctic navigation risk, which were validated using cross-validation. The results show that compared with alternative models, XGBoost models have the best performance in terms of mean absolute errors and root mean squared errors. The XGBoost models can learn and reproduce expert judgments and knowledge for the assessment of Arctic navigation risk. Feature importance (FI) and shapley additive explanations (SHAP) are used to further interpret the relationship between input data and predictions. The application of XGBoost, FI, and SHAP is aimed to improve the safety of Arctic shipping using advanced artificial intelligence techniques. Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of total hip replacement (THA) in the treatment of traumatic arthritis secondary to acetabular fracture., Methods: From October 2019 to June 2022, 15 patients with secondary traumatic arthritis of acetabulum fracture were treated with THA. There were 8 males and 7 females, aged from 40 to 76 years old with an average of (59.20±9.46) years old. Prosthesis loosening, dislocation of hip joint, range of motion of hip joint, nerve injury and other conditions were recorded before and after surgery. Harris score, visual analogue scale (VAS) and imaging were used to evaluate hip joint function and surgical effect., Results: Follow-up time ranged 6 to 39 months with an average of (18.33±9.27) months. All the 15 patients successfully completed the operation, no nerve and blood vessel injury during the operation, postoperative wound healing was stageⅠ, no infection, one case of acetabular side prosthesis loosening at half a year after operation, and recovered well after revision surgery, one case of hip dislocation was cured after open reduction treatment, no adverse consequences. Harris score at the last postoperative follow-up was (88.60±4.01) points, compared with the preoperative (47.20±11.77) points, the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05), and VAS at the lateat postoperative follow-up was 1 (1) points, compared with the preoperative 8 (2) points, the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). At the last follow-up, the pain symptoms were relieved or disappeared, and the joint function was satisfactory. The imaging data of the latest follow-up showed joint was well pseudoradiated, no abnormal ossification occurred, and the prosthesis was not loose., Conclusion: THA is effective in the treatment of traumatic arthritis secondary to acetabular fracture and can effectively improve the quality of life of patients. Preoperative comprehensive evaluation and bone defect evaluation of patients, and intraoperative management of acetabulum, femur, internal fixation and bone defect are key factors for the success of surgery.

The development of electrocatalysts that exhibit stability, high activity, and selectivity for CO 2 reduction reactions (CO 2 RR) remains a significant challenge. Single-atom catalysts (SACs) hold promise in addressing this challenge due to their high atomic utilization efficiency. In this study, we explore the potential of monolayer γ-GeSe doped with transition metals, referred to as TM@γ-GeSe, for facilitating electrocatalytic CO 2 RR. Among the 26 TM@γ-GeSe SACs systematically designed, we have identified four stable transition metal catalysts (TM = Rh, Pd, Pt, and Au). Mechanistic investigations into the CO 2 RR pathways reveal exceptional electrocatalytic activity for Rh@γ-GeSe and Pd@γ-GeSe, with limiting potentials of -0.26 and -0.35 V, respectively. Particularly, Pd@γ-GeSe exhibits outstanding product selectivity toward formic acid. The introduction of strain engineering induces modifications in the catalytic activity and selectivity of Rh@γ-GeSe. Notably, a 1% tensile strain promotes formic acid as the preferred product, thereby improving the specific product selectivity of Rh@γ-GeSe. Conversely, compressive strain reduces CO 2 RR activity while enhancing the hydrogen evolution reaction, leading to a decrease in CO 2 RR selectivity. Furthermore, we use the work function as a descriptor to elucidate the underlying mechanism of strain tunability. We hope that our theoretical study will offer valuable insights for the design of catalysts based on γ-GeSe for electrocatalytic CO 2 RR.

Three new water mite species of the genus Lebertia Neuman, 1880Lebertia (Lebertia) gimina sp. nov., Lebertia (Mixolebertia) dinghuensis sp. nov. and Lebertia (Mixolebertia) wuyiensis sp. nov.are described from China, along with one new Chinese recordLebertia (Lebertia) ignatowi Sokolow, 1930. The key characteristics for the subgenera of Lebertia are given.

Background: Culturally sensitive care has been identified as a best-practice approach for improving health outcomes. Hemodialysis patients require culturally sensitive care because it involves totally changing their previous life. The purpose of this study was to explore the subjective experiences of hemodialysis nurses in providing culturally sensitive care to hemodialysis patients., Methods: A qualitative study was carried out in the hemodialysis center of a teaching hospital in northern Taiwan. Purposive sampling and semi-structured interview guidelines were employed to interview 23 hemodialysis nurses. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim, and the resulting data were analyzed and summarized using content analysis by constant comparative methods., Results: Hemodialysis nurses exhibited the characteristics for delivering culturally sensitive care, which comprised five aspects: finding the true meaning of the behavior of the participants, recognizing and honoring individual psychological states, culturally sensitive communication in line with patients' values, customizing care content through cultural transformation strategies, and empowerment rather than prohibition., Conclusions: The findings of this study on the culturally sensitive care provided by hemodialysis nurses can be utilized by nursing educators and administrators as a reference to develop and enhance the nursing education related to culturally sensitive care for hemodialysis professionals., (© 2024. Background: It is uncertain how COVID-19 outbreak influences the hepatitis B epidemics. This study aims to evaluate the effects on hepatitis B owing to the COVID-19 outbreak and forecast the hepatitis B epidemiological trend in mainland China to speed up the course of the "End viral hepatitis Strategy"., Methods: We estimated the causal impacts and created a forecast through adopting monthly notifications of hepatitis B each year from 2005 to 2020 in mainland China using the Bayesian structural time series (BSTS) method., Results: The hepatitis B epidemics fluctuates irregularly during the period 2005-2007(APC = 8.7, P = 0.246) and 2015-2020(APC = 1.7, P = 0.290), and there is a downturn (APC=-3.2, 95% CI -5.2 to -1.2, P = 0.006) from 2007 to 2015 in mainland China. The COVID-19 outbreak was found to have a monthly average reduction on the hepatitis B epidemics of 26% (95% CI 18-35%) within the first three months in 2020,17% (95% CI 7.7-26%) within the first six months in 2020, and 10% (95% CI19-22%) all year as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, (probability of causal effect = 96.591%, P = 0.034) and the forecasts showed an upward trend from 2021 to 2025 (annual percentage change = 4.18, 95% CI 4.0 to 4.3, P < 0.001)., Conclusion: The COVID-19 has a positive effect on the decline of hepatitis B cases. And the potential of BSTS model to forecast the epidemiological trend of the hepatitis B can be applied in automatic public health policymaking in mainland China., (© 2024. The Author(s).)

Unintended effects of gene edit crops may pose safety issues. Omics is a useful tool for researchers to evaluate these unexpected effects. Transcriptome and proteomics analyses were performed for two gene editors, CRISPR-Cas9 and adenine base editor (ABE) gene edit rice, as well as corresponding wild-type plants (Nipponbare). Transcriptome revealed 520 and 566 rice differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the Cas9/Nip and ABE/Nip comparisons, respectively. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis showed that most DEGs participated in metabolism of terpenoids and polyketones, plant-pathogen interactions, and plant signal transduction. It mainly belongs to environmental adaptation. Proteomics revealed 298 and 54 rice differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in the Cas9/Nip and ABE/Nip comparisons, respectively. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that most DEPs participated in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolite and metabolic pathways.According to integrated transcriptomes and proteomics analysis, the results showed that no newly generated genes were identified as new transcripts of these differentially expressed genes, and gene edit tools had little effect on rice transcription levels and no new proteins were generated in the gene-edited rice.

Rapid advancements in high-throughput biological techniques have facilitated the generation of high-dimensional omics datasets, which have provided a solid foundation for precision medicine and prognosis prediction. Nonetheless, the problem of missing heritability persists. To solve this problem, it is essential to explain the genetic structure of disease incidence risk and prognosis by incorporating interactions. The development of the Bayesian theory has provided new approaches for developing models for interaction identification and estimation. Several Bayesian models have been developed to improve the accuracy of model and identify the main effect, gene-environment (G×E) and gene-gene (G×G) interactions. Studies based on single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are significant for the exploration of rare and common variants. Models based on the effect heredity principle and group-based models are relatively flexible and do not require strict constraints when dealing with the hierarchical structure between the main effect and interactions (M-I). These models have a good interpretability of biological mechanisms. Machine learning-based Bayesian approaches are highly competitive in improving prediction accuracy. These models provide insights into the mechanisms underlying the occurrence and progression of complex diseases, identify more reliable biomarkers, and develop higher predictive accuracy. The plant defense system is immediately triggered by UV-B irradiation, particularly the production of metabolites and enzymes involved in the UV-B response. Although substantial research on UV-B-related molecular responses in Arabidopsis has been conducted, comparatively few studies have examined the precise consequences of direct UV-B treatment on R. chrysanthum . The ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) methodology and TMT quantitative proteomics are used in this study to describe the metabolic response of R. chrysanthum to UV-B radiation and annotate the response mechanism of the primary metabolism and phenolic metabolism of R. chrysanthum . The outcomes demonstrated that following UV-B radiation, the primary metabolites (L-phenylalanine and D-lactose*) underwent considerable changes to varying degrees. This gives a solid theoretical foundation for investigating the use of precursor substances, such as phenylalanine, to aid plants in overcoming abiotic stressors. The external application of ABA produced a considerable increase in the phenolic content and improved the plants' resistance to UV-B damage. Our hypothesis is that externally applied ABA may work in concert with UV-B to facilitate the transformation of primary metabolites into phenolic compounds. This hypothesis offers a framework for investigating how ABA can increase a plant's phenolic content in order to help the plant withstand abiotic stressors. Overall, this study revealed alterations and mechanisms of primary and secondary metabolic strategies in response to UV-B radiation.

The Cav3.2 T-type calcium channel is implicated in various pathological conditions, including cardiac hypertrophy, epilepsy, autism, and chronic pain. Phosphorylation of Cav3.2 by multiple kinases plays a pivotal role in regulating its calcium channel function. The calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine/threonine phosphatase, calcineurin, interacts physically with Cav3.2 and modulates its activity. However, it remains unclear whether calcineurin dephosphorylates Cav3.2, the specific spatial regions on Cav3.2 involved, and the extent of the quantitative impact. In this study, we elucidated the serine/threonine residues on Cav3.2 targeted by calcineurin using quantitative mass spectrometry. We identified six serine residues in the N-terminus, II-III loop, and C-terminus of Cav3.2 that were dephosphorylated by calcineurin. Notably, a higher level of dephosphorylation was observed in the Cav3.2 C-terminus, where calcineurin binds to this channel. Additionally, a previously known CaMKII-phosphorylated site, S1198, was found to be dephosphorylated by calcineurin. Furthermore, we also discovered that a novel CaMKII-phosphorylated site, S2137, underwent dephosphorylation by calcineurin. In CAD cells, a mouse central nervous system cell line, membrane depolarization led to an increase in the phosphorylation of endogenous Cav3.2 at S2137. Mutation of S2137 affected the calcium channel function of Cav3.2. Our findings advance the understanding of Cav3.2 regulation not only through kinase phosphorylation but also via calcineurin phosphatase dephosphorylation.

This pilot study is to assess the feasibility and the effect of a combination therapy of rehabilitation treatment and contralateral needling, which is manipulated at the foot of the unaffected side, for the recovery of the paretic hand post-stroke. This prospective pilot clinical trial will recruit 72 stroke patients with paretic hands and a disease course of 14 to 90 d. Patients will be randomized into two groups: the control group will receive conventional Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture and basic treatment for the stroke; based on the control group, the observation group will receive the contralateral needling at the foot of the unaffected side combined with the rehabilitation movement of the paretic hand. 12 sessions will be administrated for 2 weeks. The primary outcome, Fugl-Meyer Assessment, and the secondary outcomes, the handgrip strength, the range of motion, the modified Barthel index, and the Brunnstrom recovery stages, will be measured the recovery of the hand motor function during the 2 weeks' intervention. This study aims to investigate the instant effect of contralateral needling at the foot of the unaffected side combined with the rehabilitation treatment movement for patients with the paretic hand of Poststroke motor dysfunction and provide the previous evidence for the future large sample studies.

Purpose: Intrauterine adhesion (IUAs) in women is a debatable topic and there is no clear consensus in its management and treatment strategies. Previous treatment measures have limitations which necessitates to consider effective measures for prevention of recurrence of IUAs. Hence, the aim of this study to explore the efficacy and safety of intrauterine infusion of autologous platelet gel (APG) and medical chitosan in preventing recurrence of IUAs in females after transcervical resection of adhesion (TCRA)., Methods: A prospective, randomized controlled trial was conducted among 80 patients presented with moderate to severe IUAs. Patients were randomized into two groups, APG group (n = 40) and medical chitosan group (n = 40). All patients were injected with either APG or medical chitosan after TCRA., Results: The postoperative recurrence rate of adhesions in APG group was significantly lower than those in medical chitosan group (21% vs 49%). The median AFS score during the second-look hysteroscopy was significantly lower in APG group than in medical chitosan group (P = 0.008). The median AFS score reduction after TCRA surgery was significantly higher in APG group than in medical chitosan group (median, 95% CI 7.000, 6.0 to 8.3 vs. 6.000, 5.0 to 7.0, P = 0.004). Subgroup analysis of platelet concentration (1000 as cut-off value) into high- and low-dose subgroups reported no significant correlation existed between APG and baseline characteristics, recurrence rate and postoperative AFS reduction score except for previous intrauterine operation (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Thus, after TCRA, intrauterine injections of APG provides better efficacy and safety compared with intrauterine injections of medical chitosan in preventing recurrence of intrauterine adhesions., (© 2023. Soy protein isolates (SPI) exhibit weaker emulsifying properties than those of animal proteins, thereby limiting their wide applicability. In this study, a novel plant-based antioxidant emulsifier was developed using SPI and young apple polyphenols (YAP), and its underlying interaction mechanisms were discovered using multispectral technology and molecular docking. YAP physically bound to SPI through hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions, which significantly enhanced the free radicals scavenging, reducing, and metal ion chelating abilities of SPI by introducing free hydroxyl groups. Moreover, SPI modified by YAP exerted better emulsifying performance owing to a looser protein structure, reflected by a higher random coil and a lower α-helix content. In addition, YAP may bridge adjacent SPI molecules, promoting the adsorption and anchoring of SPI at the oil-water interface. Introduction: Facial paralysis is one of the nervous system manifestations reported about COVID-19. There has been no consensus on the treatment and nursing care of COVID-19 combined with facial paralysis. On May 2022, a COVID-19 case with facial paralysis was reported to make suggestions on nursing care and treatment based on successful experience of curing the case with traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine., Case Presentation: A 27-year-old male, was hospitalized because of "low fever for 12 days and difficulty in left side facial muscle movement for 2 days." The diagnosis of facial paralysis and COVID-19 infection (mild type）is definite which is based on the patient's medical history and test results afterwards., Management and Outcomes: Medical staff made a comprehensive plan on COVID-19's basic nursing including nutritional support, vital signs monitoring and psychological evaluation, medication guidance including corticosteroids and traditional Chinese medicine, and specialized nursing procedures of facial paralysis. The symptoms of the patient were significantly improved after treatment with traditional Chinese medicine and low-dose corticosteroids. The COVID-19 nucleic acid test turned negative 12 days after admission, and the facial paralysis recovered 1 month later after discharge., Discussion: Facial paralysis and COVID-19 can coexist. This study finds that COVID-19 (mild type） patients can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine instead of antiviral drugs. This paper puts forward reasonable suggestions that the nursing plan of patients with COVID-19 complicated with specialized diseases should be formulated together with specialist nurses. Objective: To investigate the effects of morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets and oxycodone hydrochloride sustained-release tablets on T-cell levels in advanced lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC) with moderate to severe cancer pain., Methods: A retrospective study was used, ninety-eight patients who were admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University for treatment of advanced LUSC with moderate to severe cancer pain between January 2021 and December 2021 were randomized into two groups(n=49 each) using the sealed envelope system. The reference group was treated with morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets, while the experimental group received oxycodone hydrochloride sustained-release tablets to compare pain relief rates(PRRs), levels of T cells, pain intensity, et al. Blood samples were collected for lymphocyte levels by flow cytometry., Results: The experimental group had significantly higher level than the reference group( P <0.05). Before administration, the two groups did not differ greatly in levels of T-cell subsets or pain scores on the visual analog scale( P >0.05, respectively). At 15 days of administration, the Treg level in the experimental group was higher than in the reference group; T helper 17 and 22 cells were reduced in both groups, and the decrease was more pronounced in the experimental group. At seven and 15 days of administration, the experimental group had a VAS score significantly lower than the reference group( P <0.05). The total adverse reaction rate was significantly lower in the experimental group as compared with the reference group( P <0.05)., Conclusions: Oxycodone hydrochloride sustained-release tablets demonstrate desirable efficacy and safety in advanced LUSC with moderate to severe cancer pain by modulating T-cells in the body and improving the PRR., Competing Interests: Conflicts of interest: None., (Copyright: © Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences.)

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of thalidomide combined with PAD regimen in patients with multiple myeloma (MM)., Methods: It was a Clinical comparative study. A total of 120 patients with MM were admitted at Beijing Aerospace General Hospital from September 2020 to June 2022 randomly divided into two groups, with 60 patients in each group. The study group was treated with thalidomide combined with a PAD regimen (bortezomib, doxorubicin and dexamethasone), while the control group with a PAD regimen alone. After treatment, the therapeutic effect, adverse drug reactions, bone metabolic markers such as serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and osteocalcin (OCN) before and after treatment, as well as T-lymphocyte subsets CD3 + , CD4 + , CD8 + and CD4 + /CD8 + levels before and after treatment were compared and analyzed between the two groups., Results: The total efficacy in the study group was 90%, which was significantly higher than 70% in the control group ( p= 0.00). The incidence of adverse drug reactions was 40% in the study group and 38% in the control group, without statistically significant difference ( p= 0.85). After treatment, ALP and OCN levels in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group (ALP, p= 0.01; OCN, p= 0.00), and CD3 + , CD4 + and CD4 + /CD8 + in the study group also increased significantly compared with those in the control group (CD3 + , p= 0.02; CD4 + , p= 0.00; CD4 + /CD8 + , p= 0.00)., Conclusion: Thalidomide combined with a PAD regimen is definitely effective in patients with MM, it can obviously improve immune function and bone salt metabolism, with no increase in adverse reactions but high safety and effectiveness., Competing Interests: Declaration of conflicting interest: None., (Copyright: © Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences.)

In this study, cellulose nanofibril (CNF) films from ramie fibers were prepared with different pectin compositions and contents, and the influence of residual pectin on the overall performances of CNF films was evaluated. There was no significant effect of the residual pectin composition on the properties of obtained CNF films. However, when the content of residual pectin was increased from 0.45 % to 9.16 %, the surface area and water absorption of CNF films were increased from 0.2223 to 0.3300 m 2 /g, and from 93.51 % to 122.42 %, respectively. Pectin covers the CNF surface and act as a physical barrier between the cellulose fibrils; thus the nanocellulose films with high pectin content will have a loose and porous structure, resulting in a high surface area and a high water absorption. Besides, with the residual pectin content decreasing from 9.16 % to 0.45 %, the UVA light transmittance and tensile strength of CNF films were increased from 30.6 % to 59.9 %, and from 37.67 to 100.26 MPa, respectively. After removal of amorphous pectins in CNFs, the low pectin containing CNFs are able to pack more compactly to form a strong and thin film. Physiological circuits differ across increasing isometric force levels during unilateral contraction. Therefore, we first explored the possibility of predicting the force level based on electroencephalogram (EEG) activity recorded during a single trial of unilateral 5% or 40% of maximal isometric voluntary contraction (MVC) in right-hand grip imagination. Nine healthy subjects were involved in this study. The subjects were required to randomly perform 20 trials for each force level while imagining a right-hand grip. We proposed the use of common spatial patterns (CSPs) and coherence between EEG signals as features in a support vector machine for force level prediction. The results showed that the force levels could be predicted through single-trial EEGs while imagining the grip (mean accuracy = 81.4 ± 13.29%). Additionally, we tested the possibility of online control of a ball game using the above paradigm through unilateral grip imagination at different force levels (i.e., 5% of MVC imagination and 40% of MVC imagination for right-hand movement control). Subjects played the ball games effectively by controlling direction with our novel BCI system (n = 9, mean accuracy = 76.67 ± 9.35%). Data analysis validated the use of our BCI system in the online control of a ball game. The objective of this study was to investigate the function and biological mechanisms of tricin in in-vivo damage to the myocardium produced by ischemia-reperfusion in LDLr -/- mice. The hypercholesterolemia animal model employed was male LDLr -/- mice. Coronary artery occlusion in mice resulted in the detection of oxidative stress and inflammatory pathology. In mice with coronary artery blockage, tricin reduced oxidative burden in the cardiac tissue and inflammatory mediators. Additionally, the ST segment of the animals receiving tricin was resumed. Tricine could dramatically lessen myocardial damage, according to pathological examination and triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining. As a result of the research described above, the protective effects of tricin on myocardial injury have been explored, and the influence of inflammation and oxidative assaults in the ischemia-reperfusion injury (I/R) model of the heart has been demonstrated.

Drug-target interactions (DTI) prediction is a crucial task in drug discovery. Existing computational methods accelerate the drug discovery in this respect. However, most of them suffer from low feature representation ability, significantly affecting the predictive performance. To address the problem, we propose a novel neural network architecture named DrugormerDTI, which uses Graph Transformer to learn both sequential and topological information through the input molecule graph and Resudual2vec to learn the underlying relation between residues from proteins. By conducting ablation experiments, we verify the importance of each part of the DrugormerDTI. We also demonstrate the good feature extraction and expression capabilities of our model via comparing the mapping results of the attention layer and molecular docking results. Experimental results show that our proposed model performs better than baseline methods on four benchmarks. Implantable cervical vagus nerve stimulation (iVNS) is a representative and promising neuromodulation. However, the invasive nature restricts its application. Traditional auricular acupuncture treatment has a long history. The auricular branch of the vagus nerve (ABVN) is a branch on the surface of the ear. Some studies demonstrates that transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) would achieve similar effects as iVNS. TaVNS and iVNS share a common anatomical basis and acting mechanism. In this article, we made a comparison between iVNS and taVNS in indications and efficacy. The recent studies have revealed similar clinical efficacy of taVNS, taVNS would expand the indication of iVNS. High-quality clinical evidences are needed before taVNS become be an alternative of iVNS.
