Aims: To explore short-term weight variability in young children; (1) how it relates to expected weight gain and (2) how it is affected by age, time of day and dietary intakes and outputs., Methods: Twenty healthy infants aged 2-10 months and 21 healthy toddlers aged 12-35 months were weighed at home by their parents six times over 3 days. The toddlers' parents also recorded whether they had eaten, drunk, urinated or passed stool in the previous 2 hours. The primary outcome was 'noise': the within-subject weight SD pooled separately for infants and toddlers, compared with their expected weight gain over 4 or 8 weeks. Analysis by successive pairs of weights was used to assess the extent of short-term weight gain and loss associated with time of day and eating, drinking and excretion., Results: In infants, noise (117 g) was much less than the expected weight gain over 4 weeks (280-1040 g) but in toddlers, noise (313 g) was higher than the expected gain over 4 weeks (180-230 g) and around three-quarters the expected gain over 8 weeks (359-476 g). In toddlers, weight tended to fall overnight and rise by day, and recent eating and passage of stool were associated with increased weight gain, even after adjustment for time of day., Conclusions: In toddlers, the recorded weight may be 300 g higher or lower than the underlying weight trajectory, so that their weight gain based on measurements collected fewer than 8 weeks apart will often be misleading., Competing Interests: Competing interests: None declared., (© Author(s) (or their employer(s)) 2024. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has generated a demand for timely data, resulting in a surge of mobile phone surveys for tracking the impacts of and responses to the pandemic. Mobile phone surveys have become a preferred mode of data collection across low- and middle-income countries., Objective: This study piloted 2 population-based, cross-sectional mobile phone surveys among Sri Lankan residents in 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The surveys aimed to gather data on knowledge, attitudes, and practices, vaccine acceptability, availability, and barriers to COVID-19 testing, and use of a medicine distribution service., Methods: The study used Surveda, an open-source survey tool developed by the NCD (noncommunicable disease) Mobile Phone Survey Data 4 Health Initiative, for data collection and management. The surveys were conducted through interactive voice response using automated, prerecorded messages in Sinhala, Tamil, and English. The sample design involved random sampling of mobile phone numbers, stratified by sex, proportional to the general population. Eligibility criteria varied between surveys, targeting adults aged 35 years and older with any noncommunicable disease for the first survey and all adults for the second survey. The data were adjusted to population estimates, and statistical analysis was conducted using SAS (SAS Institute) and R software (R Core Team). Descriptive statistics, Rao-Scott chi-square tests, and z tests were used to analyze the data. Response rates, cooperation rates, and productivity of the sampling approach were calculated., Results: In the first survey, n=5001, the overall response rate was 7.5%, with a completion rate of 85.6%. In the second survey, n=1250, the overall response rate was 10.9%, with a completion rate of 61.9%. Approximately 3 out of 4 adults reported that they avoided public places (888/1175, 75.6%), more than two-thirds avoided public transportation (808/1173, 68.9%), and 9 out of 10 practiced physical distancing (1046/1167, 89.7%). Approximately 1 out of 10 Sri Lankan persons reported being tested for COVID-19, and the majority of those received a polymerase chain reaction test (112/161, 70%). Significantly more males than females reported being tested for COVID-19 (98/554, 17.8% vs 61/578, 10.6%, respectively; P<.001). Finally, the majority of adult Sri Lankan people reported that they definitely or probably would get the COVID-19 vaccination (781/1190, 65.7%)., Conclusions: The surveys revealed that, overall, the adult Sri Lankan population adhered to COVID-19 mitigation strategies. Introduction: Strong oral language and reading skills are important for child development. The response to intervention (RTI) framework supports schools to apply evidence-based practices and interventions to proactively meet the learning needs of all students and identify and support students at risk of learning difficulties. Getting it Right from the Start (GIRFTS) aims to implement a codesigned RTI framework in the first 2 years of formal schooling (foundation and grade 1) to improve oral language and reading skills. GIRFTS includes an implementation evaluation., Methods and Analysis: GIRFTS is a stepped-wedge cluster randomised trial conducted in Victoria, Australia, over 3 years. Clusters are primary schools. The intervention is to implement tiers 1 and 2 of the RTI framework into foundation and grade 1 according to RTI principles. The primary outcome is reading comprehension by the start of grade 2. Secondary outcomes include listening comprehension, word and non-word reading and phonological awareness. An implementation evaluation will also be conducted with the study to understand schools' RTI implementation process and enablers and barriers to implementation. Registry-based randomized controlled trials (RRCTs) can combine the advantages of registries with those of randomization. This review aimed to expand the current knowledge on RRCT utilization and implementation by providing a comprehensive overview of RRCT use cases. A targeted literature search was conducted through July 2023 to identify articles on RRCTs. Information regarding the RRCT characteristics, their utilization, and the registries' contributions and the constraints faced was extracted. Descriptive statistics were used. We identified 102 RRCTs in 110 publications. RRCTs were mostly performed for the assessment of medical devices or surgical/clinical procedures (n = 45), followed by drugs (n = 30). More than half of the RRCTs were conducted in the Nordic countries (n = 58) and the most used registry types were health service registries/administrative health data (n = 63), followed by disease registries (n = 46). Approximately half of the RRCTs (n = 53) utilized additional data sources aside from registry data. The contribution of a registry to the RRCT was mostly for data collection and study follow-up (n = 90-92), followed by patient recruitment (n = 56-61), and randomization (n = 28-38), with varying levels of transparency in reporting. We collated author-reported constraints related to the used registries into four overarching themes, that is, data availability and completeness, data quality, representativeness, and registry infrastructure and accessibility. This review shows that RRCTs are already used in different domains and geographic regions. Study Question: What are the current national medically assisted reproduction (MAR) data collection systems across EU Member States, and how can these countries contribute to a unique, cycle-by-cycle registry for the European Monitoring of Medically Assisted Reproduction (EuMAR) project?, Summary Answer: The study identified significant variation in MAR data collection practices across Member States, with differences in data types, collection methods, and reporting requirements; the EuMAR project emerges as an opportunity to enhance data standardization and improve MAR data collection in the EU., What Is Known Already: There is a need for new approaches in MAR data collection that include long-term and cross border follow-up. The EuMAR project intends to establish a unified, cycle-by-cycle registry of data on MAR treatments in EU countries, from which accurate cumulative outcomes can be calculated., Study Design, Size, Duration: This cross-sectional study involved a survey and interviews with stakeholders from 26 EU Member States conducted in 2023 over a period of seven months., Participants/materials, Setting, Methods: Representatives from national competent authorities and professional associations involved in MAR data collection in EU countries were invited to complete the survey and interviewed to assess current data flows, information requirements, and their interest in the EuMAR project., Main Results and the Role of Chance: Half of the participating countries reported having a national MAR registry with cycle-by-cycle data (n = 13), while 31% reported having a national registry with aggregated data (n = 8) and 19% reported having no national registry (n = 5). Of the countries with a national cycle-by-cycle registry, eight countries collect identifiable data, five countries collect pseudonymized data, and one country collects fully anonymized data. Informed consent is required in 10 countries. The main advantages that participants expected from a European registry like EuMAR were the possibility of obtaining national statistics in the absence of a national registry and improving the calculation of cumulative outcomes., Limitations, Reasons for Caution: The results of the study are based on self-reported data, which may be subject to bias, however, the validity of the collected information was verified with different means, including follow-up calls for clarifications and sharing final transcript reports. Photo elicitation is a qualitative data collection technique in which the researcher includes photographs or other visual images as part of participant interviews. The researcher might provide the photographs or might ask the participants to bring photographs to the interview. This technique enhances the breadth and depth of verbal qualitative interviews. The use of photo elicitation can enhance the rigor of a qualitative study. There are both advantages and disadvantages of this data collection technique. Objective/purpose: Historically, psychology trainees from marginalized communities have been underrepresented both as researchers and as participants in research on trainee experiences and outcomes. The current research can be used to develop evidence-based strategies to understand and improve the recruitment, retention, advancement, and overall training experiences of trainees with marginalized identities., Method: We review the existing literature on the experiences of psychology trainees, particularly that focused on trainees from marginalized backgrounds., Results: Quantitative, qualitative, and archival data collection and analysis methods each carry their own benefits and limitations, which must be considered and addressed intentionally to optimize the impact of research findings for multiply marginalized individuals. Mixed methods approaches are also discussed. Matching each limitation with a research design strategy is recommended, including the use of sample weights from population archival data to contextualize sample results, incorporating flexibility for reasonable accommodations for intensive qualitative studies, and other strategies., Conclusions/implications: We provide guidance on selecting a methodology based on specific research and dissemination goals within this area and discuss implications and recommendations for both rehabilitation psychology specifically and the field more broadly. Multi-lab projects are large scale collaborations between participating data collection sites that gather empirical evidence and (usually) analyze that evidence using meta-analyses. They are a valuable form of scientific collaboration, produce outstanding data sets and are a great resource for third-party researchers. Their data may be reanalyzed and used in research synthesis. Their repositories and code could provide guidance to future projects of this kind. But, while multi-labs are similar in their structure and aggregate their data using meta-analyses, they deploy a variety of different solutions regarding the storage structure in the repositories, the way the (analysis) code is structured and the file-formats they provide. Continuing this trend implies that anyone who wants to work with data from multiple of these projects, or combine their datasets, is faced with an ever-increasing complexity. Some of that complexity could be avoided. Here, we introduce MetaPipeX, a standardized framework to harmonize, document and analyze multi-lab data. It features a pipeline conceptualization of the analysis and documentation process, an R-package that implements both and a Shiny App (https://www.apps.meta-rep.lmu.de/metapipex/) that allows users to explore and visualize these data sets. We introduce the framework by describing its components and applying it to a practical example. Engaging with this form of collaboration and integrating it further into research practice will certainly be beneficial to quantitative sciences and we hope the framework provides a structure and tools to reduce effort for anyone who creates, re-uses, harmonizes or learns about multi-lab replication projects., (© 2024 The Author(s). Collecting data for an individual participant data meta-analysis (IPDMA) project can be time consuming and resource intensive and could still have insufficient power to answer the question of interest. Therefore, researchers should consider the power of their planned IPDMA before collecting IPD. Here we propose a method to estimate the power of a planned IPDMA project aiming to synthesise multiple cohort studies to investigate the (unadjusted or adjusted) effects of potential prognostic factors for a binary outcome. We consider both binary and continuous factors and provide a three-step approach to estimating the power in advance of collecting IPD, under an assumption of the true prognostic effect of each factor of interest. The first step uses routinely available (published) aggregate data for each study to approximate Fisher's information matrix and thereby estimate the anticipated variance of the unadjusted prognostic factor effect in each study. These variances are then used in step 2 to estimate the anticipated variance of the summary prognostic effect from the IPDMA. Finally, step 3 uses this variance to estimate the corresponding IPDMA power, based on a two-sided Wald test and the assumed true effect. Extensions are provided to adjust the power calculation for the presence of additional covariates correlated with the prognostic factor of interest (by using a variance inflation factor) and to allow for between-study heterogeneity in prognostic effects. Background: The use of digital biomarkers through remote patient monitoring offers valuable and timely insights into a patient's condition, including aspects such as disease progression and treatment response. This serves as a complementary resource to traditional health care settings leveraging mobile technology to improve scale and lower latency, cost, and burden., Objective: Smartphones with embedded and connected sensors have immense potential for improving health care through various apps and mobile health (mHealth) platforms. This capability could enable the development of reliable digital biomarkers from long-term longitudinal data collected remotely from patients., Methods: We built an open-source platform, RADAR-base, to support large-scale data collection in remote monitoring studies. RADAR-base is a modern remote data collection platform built around Confluent's Apache Kafka to support scalability, extensibility, security, privacy, and quality of data. It provides support for study design and setup and active (eg, patient-reported outcome measures) and passive (eg, phone sensors, wearable devices, and Internet of Things) remote data collection capabilities with feature generation (eg, behavioral, environmental, and physiological markers). The back end enables secure data transmission and scalable solutions for data storage, management, and data access., Results: The platform has been used to successfully collect longitudinal data for various cohorts in a number of disease areas including multiple sclerosis, depression, epilepsy, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Alzheimer disease, autism, and lung diseases. Digital biomarkers developed through collected data are providing useful insights into different diseases., Conclusions: RADAR-base offers a contemporary, open-source solution driven by the community for remotely monitoring, collecting data, and digitally characterizing both physical and mental health conditions. Background: Poor physical fitness, stress, and fatigue are factors impacting military readiness, national security, and economic burden for the United States Department of Defense. Improved accuracy of wearable biosensors and remote field biologic sample collection strategies could make critical contributions to understanding how physical readiness and occupational stressors result in on-the-job and environment-related injury, sleep impairments, diagnosis of mental health disorders, and reductions in performance in war-fighters., Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of intensive biomarker and biometric data collection to understand physiological and psychological stress in Army Reserved Officer Training Corps cadets before, during, and after a 96-hour field training exercise (FTX)., Methods: A prospective pilot study evaluated the feasibility and acceptability of multimodal field data collection using passive drool saliva sampling, sweat sensors, accelerometry, actigraphy, and photoplethysmography. In addition, physical fitness (Army Combat Fitness Test), self-reported injury, and psychological resilience (Brief Resilience Scale) were measured., Results: A total of 22 cadets were included. Two were lost to follow-up due to injury during FTX, for a retention rate of 91%. Assessments of performance and psychological resilience were completed for all remaining participants, resulting in 100% testing adherence. All participants provided saliva samples before the FTX, with 98% adherence at the second time point and 91% at the third. For sweat, data collection was not possible. Average daily wear time for photoplethysmography devices was good to excellent, meeting a 70% threshold with data collected for ≥80% of person-days at all time points. Of the participants who completed the FTX and 12 completed a post-FTX acceptability survey for a response rate of 60%. Overall, participant acceptance was high (≥80%) for all metrics and devices., Conclusions: This study demonstrates that wearable biosensors and remote field biologic sample collection strategies during a military FTX have the potential to be used in higher stakes tactical environments in the future for some, but not all, of the strategies. Background: Syndromic surveillance for respiratory infections such as COVID-19 is a crucial part of the public health surveillance toolkit as it allows decision makers to detect and prepare for new waves of the disease in advance. However, it is labor-intensive, costly, and increases exposure to survey personnel. This study assesses the feasibility of conducting a mobile phone-based respiratory syndromic surveillance program in a middle-income country during a public health emergency, providing data to support the inclusion of this method in the standard infection control protocols at the population level., Objective: This study aims to assess the feasibility of a national active syndromic surveillance system for COVID-19 disease in Colombia., Methods: In total, 2 pilots of syndromic mobile phone surveys (MPSs) were deployed using interactive voice response technology in Colombia (367 complete surveys in March 2022 and 451 complete surveys in April and May 2022). Respondents aged 18 years and older were sampled using random digit dialing, and after obtaining consent, they were sent a 10-minute survey with modules on sociodemographic status, respiratory symptoms, past exposure to COVID-19 infection and vaccination status, preferences about COVID-19 vaccination, and information source for COVID-19. Pilot 1 used a nationally representative sample while pilot 2 used quota sampling to yield representative results at the regional level. In this work, we assessed the performance characteristics of the survey pilots and compared the demographic information collected with a nationally representative household survey., Results: For both pilots, contact rates were between 1% and 2%, while participation rates were above 80%. The results revealed that younger, female, and higher educated participants were more likely to participate in the syndromic survey. Survey rates as well as demographics, COVID-19 vaccination status, and prevalence of respiratory symptoms are reported for both pilots. We found that respondents of the MPSs are more likely to be younger and female., Conclusions: In a COVID-19 pandemic setting, using an interactive voice response MPS to conduct syndromic surveillance may be a transformational, low-risk, and feasible method to detect outbreaks. Collecting large amounts of radiotherapy (RT) data from clinical systems is known to be a challenging task. Still, data collections outside the original RT systems are needed to follow-up on the quality of cancer care and to improve RT. This paper aims to describe how RT data is collected nationally in Denmark and Sweden for this purpose and gives an overview of the stored information in both countries' national data sources. Although both countries have clinical national quality registries with broad coverage and completeness for many cancer diagnoses, some were initiated already in the seventies, and less than one in ten includes quantitative information on RT to a level of detail useful for more than basic descriptive statistics. Detailed RT data can, however, be found in Denmark's DICOM Collaboration (DcmCollab) database, initiated in 2009 and in Sweden's quality registry for RT launched in 2023 (SKvaRT). Denmark has collected raw DICOM data for all patients enrolled in clinical trials, with files being directly and automatically transferred to DcmCollab from the original data sources at each RT centre. Sweden collects aggregated RT data into SKvaRT for all patients undergoing RT in Sweden, with DICOM files being transferred and selected alpha-numeric variables forwarded via a local intermediate storage database (MIQA) at each hospital. In designing their respective solutions, both countries have faced similar challenges regarding which RT variables to collect and how to technically link clinical systems to their data repositories. General lessons about how flexibility currently is balanced with storage requirements and data standards are presented here together with future plans to harvest real-world RT data., (Copyright © 2024. We aimed to assess the feasibility of using TVR for data collection of medication-related variables for research and quality improvement by comparing and describing differences between TVR and electronic medical record (EMR) review., Methods: This was an observational study of level I/II trauma patients treated between November 2022 and March 2023. Patients with video recording started within 1 minute of arrival, at least 1 medication administered, and with pharmacist participation in care were included. The number of variables able to be collected by TVR or EMR review were compared and reported in the categories of medication administration, indicators of adverse drug events (ADEs), medication errors, and communication. The numbers and types of discrepancies between data collection modalities were quantified and described. Agreement between TVR and EMR review was assessed and reported as an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)., Results: Twenty-five patients were included; 758 and 1,011 variables collected by TVR and EMR review, respectively. In total, 689 variables were collected by both methods, and data collection modalities matched exactly in 4 of 25 patients (16%); ICC, 0.677 (moderate level of agreement). There were 46 (6.7%) discrepancies; 84% involved communication related variables. TVR missed more variables than EMR review, mostly medication errors and inability to assess ADEs but captured more communication-related variables., Conclusion: TVR and EMR review together offer a greater source of medication-related information for data collection compared to either alone. EMR review collected medication administration, ADE, and medication errors variables more often than TVR and TVR was better able to collect communication-related variables. Background: SMS text messaging- and internet-based self-reporting systems can supplement existing vaccine safety surveillance systems, but real-world participation patterns have not been assessed at scale., Objective: This study aimed to describe the participation rates of a new SMS text messaging- and internet-based self-reporting system called the Kaiser Permanente Side Effect Monitor (KPSEM) within a large integrated health care system., Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study of Kaiser Permanente Southern California (KPSC) patients receiving a COVID-19 vaccination from April 23, 2021, to July 31, 2023. Patients received invitations through flyers, SMS text messages, emails, or patient health care portals. After consenting, patients received regular surveys to assess adverse events up to 5 weeks after each dose. Linkage with medical records provided demographic and clinical data. In this study, we describe KPSEM participation rates, defined as providing consent and completing at least 1 survey within 35 days of COVID-19 vaccination., Results: Approximately, 8% (164,636/2,091,975) of all vaccinated patients provided consent and completed at least 1 survey within 35 days. The lowest participation rates were observed for parents of children aged 12-17 years (1349/152,928, 0.9% participation rate), and the highest participation was observed among older adults aged 61-70 years (39,844/329,487, 12.1%). Persons of non-Hispanic White race were more likely to participate compared with other races and ethnicities (13.1% vs 3.9%-7.5%, respectively; P<.001). In addition, patients residing in areas with a higher neighborhood deprivation index were less likely to participate (5.1%, 16,503/323,122 vs 10.8%, 38,084/352,939 in the highest vs lowest deprivation quintiles, respectively; P<.001). Invitations through the individual's Kaiser Permanente health care portal account and by SMS text message were associated with the highest participation rate (19.2%, 70,248/366,377 and 10.5%, 96,169/914,793, respectively), followed by email (19,464/396,912, 4.9%) and then QR codes on flyers (25,882/2,091,975, 1.2%). SMS text messaging-based surveys demonstrated the highest sustained daily response rates compared with internet-based surveys., Conclusions: This real-world prospective study demonstrated that a novel digital vaccine safety self-reporting system implemented through an integrated health care system can achieve high participation rates. Linkage with participants' electronic health records is another unique benefit of this surveillance system. Background: Sex workers face an epidemic of violence in the United States. However, violence against sex workers in the United States is underreported. Sex workers hesitate to report it to the police because they are frequently punished themselves; therefore, an alternative for reporting is needed., Objective: We aim to apply human-centered design methods to create and evaluate the usability of the prototype interface for ReportVASW (violence against sex worker, VASW) and identify opportunities for improvement., Methods: This study explores ways to improve the prototype of ReportVASW, with particular attention to ways to improve the data collection tool. Evaluation methods included cognitive walkthrough, system usability scale, and heuristic evaluation., Results: End users were enthusiastic about the idea of a website to document violence against sex workers. ReportVASW scored 90 on the system usability scale. The tool scored neutral on consistency, and all other responses were positive toward the app, with most being strong., Conclusions: Many opportunities to improve the interface were identified. Multiple methods identified multiple issues to address. Most changes are not overly complex, and the majority were aesthetic or minor. Aim: To describe the design of the Danish National Health Survey (DNHS) 2023, participants' demographic characteristics and differences in demographic and selected health-related characteristics between respondents invited by web-mode and paper-mode., Methods: A sample of 25,000 residents in Denmark aged 16 years or above was invited to participate in the DNHS 2023 using a mixed-mode approach (web/paper mode). Web-mode invited were additionally invited to participate in an accelerometer study. The self-administered questionnaire included 83 questions about health, health behaviour and morbidity. Descriptive statistics were used to describe characteristics associated with response and invitation mode., Results: The response proportion was 40.8%. Non-response was more frequent among men, individuals of the youngest age groups, individuals with non-Western backgrounds, unmarried and individuals from densely populated areas. The response proportion was higher among web-mode invited (42.0%) than paper-mode invited (22.6%). Paper-mode invited respondents were more often women, aged 80 years or older, and widowed compared with web-mode invited respondents., Conclusions: The DNHS 2023 is a national health survey including adult residents in Denmark. Non-response was more pronounced among some subgroups; however, calibrated weights were calculated to minimise non-response bias. The survey is essential for public health surveillance and can be used in health planning and policy development. Furthermore, the data from the survey can be used for research on the population's health and health behaviour. Background: Participatory surveillance involves at-risk populations reporting their symptoms using technology. In Lesotho, a landlocked country of 2 million people in Southern Africa, laboratory and case-based COVID-19 surveillance systems were complemented by a participatory surveillance system called "LeCellPHIA" (Lesotho Cell Phone Population-Based HIV Impact Assessment Survey)., Objective: This report describes the person, place, and time characteristics of influenza-like illness (ILI) in Lesotho from July 15, 2020, to July 15, 2021, and reports the risk ratio of ILI by key demographic variables., Methods: LeCellPHIA employed interviewers to call participants weekly to inquire about ILI. The average weekly incidence rate for the year-long period was created using a Quasi-Poisson model, which accounted for overdispersion. To identify factors associated with an increased risk of ILI, we conducted a weekly data analysis by fitting a multilevel Poisson regression model, which accounted for 3 levels of clustering., Results: The overall response rate for the year of data collection was 75%, which resulted in 122,985 weekly reports from 1776 participants. ILI trends from LeCellPHIA mirrored COVID-19 testing data trends, with an epidemic peak in mid to late January 2021. Overall, any ILI symptoms (eg, fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath) were reported at an average weekly rate of 879 per 100,000 (95% CI 782-988) persons at risk. Compared to persons in the youngest age group (15-19 years), all older age groups had an elevated risk of ILI, with the highest risk of ILI in the oldest age group (≥60 years; risk ratio 2.6, 95% CI 1.7-3.8). Objectives: This study examines sexual orientation/gender identity (SOGI) data collection in older adults from the UCHealth systems electronic health record., Methods: Data of older adults aged 55 and older were analyzed between January 2019 and December 2022. Prevalence of SOGI documentation based on four new SOGI-related questions were analyzed along with social history documentation., Results: Data were missing in reports (93% for sexual orientation and 96% for gender identity). Of 459,544 older adults potentially identifiable as a sexual or gender minority (SGM), 8.24% could be identified through other social history, and 91.76% could not. Data often returned a response of "undisclosed" (1.04%) or "unspecified" (98.79%), leaving .005% to represent the identifiable population of SGM minority adults., Conclusions: SOGI data often was not documented through questions recommended since January 2019. It is unlikely that .005% accurately represents the SGM older patient population as national estimates are between 7%-11%. Lower reported percentages of SGM older adults may lead to less recognition of patient needs, and thus less equitable and personalized care., Clinical Implications: These findings exemplify the need for evaluation strategies to be designed to improve SOGI collection with the primary goal of promoting equity and inclusion for SGM older adults.

Apheresis is performed worldwide for an increasing number of indications. The development of common data elements (CDE) for apheresis related areas may facilitate conduct of new research, enhance quality initiatives including benchmarking, and improve patient care. This report describes the systematic development of the Uniform Apheresis Case Report Form (UACRF) as part of the Apheresis in the United States (ApheresUS) program. A consensus panel of 17 diverse experts in apheresis, related specialties, and electronic case report form (eCRF), and database development was assembled. The panel met via online conferencing from November 17, 2020 to December 1, 2021. A draft document was posted online for public comment from October 11, 2021 to November 10, 2021. Feedback was collected using an online survey tool. The consensus panel revised the UACRF. This version was converted to an eCRF with additional changes made to improve usability in this format. The final version of the UACRF was created on August 24, 2023. The UACRF contains 16 modules: procedure and subject eligibility, patient demographics, general procedure information, laboratory parameters, vascular access, common procedure elements, eight procedure specific modules (mononuclear cell collection and seven therapeutic modalities), outcomes, and site information. A total of 137 data elements were created, including 57 with one or more subelements. The UACRF is the first systematic attempt to develop CDE for therapeutic apheresis and white blood cell collections. Background: Clinical trials and registry studies are essential for advancing research and developing novel treatments. However, these studies rely on manual entry of thousands of variables for each patient. Repurposing real-world data can significantly simplify the data collection, reduce transcription errors, and make the data entry process more efficient, consistent, and cost-effective., Methods: We developed an open-source computational pipeline to collect laboratory and medication information from the electronic health record (EHR) data and populate case report forms. The pipeline was developed and validated with data from two independent pediatric hospitals in the US as part of the Long-terM OUtcomes after Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome In Children (MUSIC) study. Our pipeline allowed the completion of two of the most time-consuming forms. We compared automatically extracted results with manually entered values in one hospital and applied the pipeline to a second hospital, where the output served as the primary data source for case report forms., Findings: We extracted and populated 51,845 laboratory and 4913 medication values for 159 patients in two hospitals participating in a prospective pediatric study. We evaluated pipeline performance against data for 104 patients manually entered by clinicians in one of the hospitals. The highest concordance was found during patient hospitalization, with 91.59% of the automatically extracted laboratory and medication values corresponding with the manually entered values. In addition to the successfully populated values, we identified an additional 13,396 laboratory and 567 medication values of interest for the study., Interpretation: The automatic data entry of laboratory and medication values during admission is feasible and has a high concordance with the manually entered data. Recent advances in therapy and the promulgation of multidisciplinary pulmonary embolism teams show great promise to improve management and outcomes of acute pulmonary embolism (PE). However, the absence of randomized evidence and lack of consensus leads to tremendous variations in treatment and compromises the wide implementation of new innovations. Moreover, the changing landscape of health care, where quality, cost, and accountability are increasingly relevant, dictates that a broad spectrum of outcomes of care must be routinely monitored to fully capture the impact of modern PE treatment. We set out to standardize data collection in patients with PE undergoing evaluation and treatment, and thus establish the foundation for an expanding evidence base that will address gaps in evidence and inform future care for acute PE. To do so, >100 international PE thought leaders convened in Washington, DC, in April 2022 to form the Pulmonary Embolism Research Collaborative. Participants included physician experts, key members of the US Food and Drug Administration, patient representatives, and industry leaders. Recognizing the multidisciplinary nature of PE care, the Pulmonary Embolism Research Collaborative was created with representative experts from stakeholder medical subspecialties, including cardiology, pulmonology, vascular medicine, critical care, hematology, cardiac surgery, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and pharmacology. A list of critical evidence gaps was composed with a matching comprehensive set of standardized data elements; these data points will provide a foundation for productive research, knowledge enhancement, and advancement of clinical care within the field of acute PE, and contribute to answering urgent unmet needs in PE management. After a long journey in relative obscurity, qualitative research is being accepted in the field of school psychology. As more school psychology researchers and graduate students adopt it as part of their scholarly endeavors, we reflect on the qualitative research published in school psychology since 2006 in terms of what has been done so far and what can be improved going forward. This act of academic retrospection can strengthen qualitative research in school psychology by helping to identify areas of strength and weakness. We read all qualitative studies published in seven school psychology journals between 2006 and 2021 to understand their methodological character. In Section I, we discuss the methodological trends (e.g., approach to inquiry, data collection methods, data analysis strategies) we found. In Section II, we reflect upon this corpus and identify some common misconceptions about qualitative methodologies that stood out to us. We clarify these misconceptions and highlight some examples of 'good' practices in these articles that could be adopted by other researchers. In the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, many local collections of clinical data on patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 were initiated in Germany. As part of the National Pandemic Cohort Network (NAPKON) of the University Medicine Network, the "Integration Core" was established to design the legal, technical and organisational requirements for the integration of inventory data into ongoing prospective data collections and to test the feasibility of the newly developed solutions using use cases (UCs). Detailed study documents of the data collections were obtained. After structured document analysis, a review board evaluated the integrability of the data in NAPKON according to defined criteria. Of 30 university hospitals contacted, 20 responded to the request. Patient information and consent showed a heterogeneous picture with regard to the pseudonymised transfer of data to third parties and re-contact. The majority of the data collections (n=13) met the criteria for integration into NAPKON; four studies would require adjustments to the regulatory documents. Three cohorts were not suitable for inclusion in NAPKON. The legal framework for retrospective data integration and consent-free data use via research clauses (§27 BDSG) was elaborated by a legal opinion by TMF - Technology, Methods and Infrastructure for Networked Medical Research, Berlin. Two UCs selected by the NAPKON steering committee (CORKUM, LMU Munich; Pa-COVID-19, Charité- Universitätsmedizin Berlin) were used to demonstrate the feasibility of data integration in NAPKON by the end of 2021. Quality assurance and performance-based reimbursement of the cases were carried out according to the specifications. Based on the results, recommendations can be formulated for various contexts in order to create technical-operational prerequisites such as interoperability, interfaces and data models for data integration and to fulfil regulatory requirements on ethics, data protection, medical confidentiality and data access when integrating existing cohort data. Research on real-world patterns of substance use increasingly involves intensive longitudinal data (ILD) collection, requiring long assessment windows. The present study extends limited prior research examining event- and person-level influences on compliance and response consistency by investigating how these behaviors are sustained over time in an ILD study of alcohol and cannabis co-use in college students. Participants ( n = 316) completed two 28-day bursts of ILD comprising five daily surveys, which included a morning survey of prior-day drinking. We used linear mixed effects models in a multilevel interrupted time series framework to evaluate the associations of time and measurement burst with (a) noncompliance (count of missed surveys) and (b) response consistency (difference between same-day report of drinking and morning report of prior-day drinking). We observed that time was positively associated with noncompliance, with no discontinuity associated with measurement burst. The slope of time was more positive in the second burst. Neither time nor measurement burst were significantly associated with consistent reporting. However, survey nonresponse and consistency of responding appeared to be impacted by the same-day use of substances. Overall, compliance decreased while consistency was stable across the duration of a lengthy ILD protocol. Shorter assessment windows or adaptive prompting strategies may improve overall study compliance. Further work examining daily burden and context is needed to inform future ILD design. Background: Memorializing nurses' experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic had the potential to allow scientists and policymakers to learn about the impact on the nursing profession and health care systems. Yet, nurses are considered a difficult population to recruit for research., Objective: To describe an innovative qualitative data collection method for capturing current practice experiences among nurses working during the COVID-19 pandemic., Methods: Guerilla theory served as the theoretical framework. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive design, a telephone voicemail messaging system was developed to capture nurses' experiences., Results: Nurses were recruited with convenience and snowball sampling via social media and state listservs. The telephone voicemail messaging system, Twilio, was used. After listening to the recording of the consent form, the participants shared their experiences by leaving a voice message where they answered the prompt, "Tell us about your experiences working during the COVID-19 pandemic." Seventy voicemails were included, and the voicemails were transcribed. After a nurse shared their experience via an email sent to the research team, emails were added to the data collection; 16 emails were received. Transcripts and emails were uploaded to the qualitative data analysis software program, Dedoose, and coded by 2 researchers using content analysis. Main themes were derived and discussed among the research team., Conclusion: Allowing participants multiple modes of expressing their experiences promote inclusivity in data collection. Background: The introduction of the electronic health record (EHR) has improved the collection and storage of patient information, enhancing clinical communication and academic research. However, EHRs are limited by data quality and the time-consuming task of manual data extraction. This study aimed to use process mapping to help identify critical data entry points within the clinical pathway for patients with vestibular schwannoma (VS) ideal for structured data entry and automated data collection to improve patient care and research., Methods: A 2-stage methodology was used at a neurosurgical unit. Process maps were developed using semi-structured interviews with stakeholders in the management of VS resection. Process maps were then retrospectively validated against EHRs for patients admitted between August 2019 and December 2021, establishing critical data entry points., Results: In the process map development, 20 stakeholders were interviewed. Process maps were validated against EHRs of 36 patients admitted for VS resection. Operative notes, surgical inpatient reviews (including ward rounds), and discharge summaries were available for all patients, representing critical data entry points. Areas for documentation improvement were in the preoperative clinics (30/36; 83.3%), preoperative skull base multidisciplinary team (32/36; 88.9%), postoperative follow-up clinics (32/36; 88.9%), and postoperative skull base multidisciplinary team meeting (29/36; 80.6%)., Conclusions: This is a first use to our knowledge of a 2-stage methodology for process mapping the clinical pathway for patients undergoing VS resection. Checking each item placed in a separate collection bin of recyclables to examine contamination is often difficult for a researcher relying on such data. This is because of the time and inconvenience involved to manually identify items. We test a proof-of-concept experiment on the ability of trail cameras to identify items placed within separate collection bins. After a pre-test of seven camera models, we selected one with the best image quality. We use this camera for lab and field trials to count the number of identifiable items based on photos compared to manual hand-counts of the items. Three lab trials of this camera resulted in an average of 82% accuracy in item identification. We then conducted a field experiment, testing photo quality to identify items in six separate collection bins across a university campus over a one-month period with a total of over 9,700 photos. Of the 1343 items placed in the separate collection bins, the trail cameras provided photographs of high enough quality such that successful identification occurred for 68.5% of the items, with poor identification for paper items and small items. This review reports on the use of sensors in wheelchair sports to monitor and analyze performance during match and training time. With rapid advancements in electronics and related technologies, understanding performance metrics in wheelchair sports is essential. We reviewed nine studies using various sensor types, including electric motors, inertial measurement units, miniaturized data loggers with magnetic reed switches, and smartphones with inbuilt accelerometers and gyroscopes, operating at frequencies from 8 Hz to 1200 Hz. These studies measured parameters such as angular and translational velocities, distance, number of starts/pushes, and other performance indicators in sports such as basketball, rugby, tennis, and racing. Despite differences in sport types and methodologies, most studies found sensor-derived data effective for assessment of performance. Future developments and research in this field should focus on multi-sensor systems that could provide real-time match analysis and deeper insights into performance metrics. Overall, sensor technologies show significant potential for improving wheelchair sport performance diagnostics, contributing to better athlete training and future wheelchair design, and enhancing competitive outcomes. This review emphasizes the need for continued innovation and standardization in applying sensor technologies in wheelchair sports.

(1) Background: Acute ischemic stroke treatment has been thoroughly studied to identify strategies to reduce treatment times. However, many centers still struggle to achieve fast treatment times. Additionally, studies primarily focus on larger, more advanced centers; yet, smaller centers often face longer treatment times. (2) Objectives: The aim of this study is to analyze the existing literature reviewing stroke treatment processes in primary and comprehensive stroke centers that investigated or reduced treatment times. The articles identified were categorized based on the focus areas and approaches used. (3) Results: Three main categories of improvements were identified in the literature: (1) standardization of processes, (2) resource management, and (3) data collection. Both primary and comprehensive stroke centers were able to reduce treatment times through standardization of the processes. However, challenges such as variations in hospital resources and difficulties incorporating data collection software into workflow were highlighted. Additionally, many strategies to optimize resources and data collection that can benefit primary stroke centers were only conducted in comprehensive stroke centers. (4) Conclusions: Many existing strategies to improve stroke treatment times, such as pre-notification and mass stroke team alerts, have been implemented in both primary and comprehensive stroke centers. However, tools such as simulation training are understudied in primary stroke centers and should be analyzed. Additionally, while data collection and feedback are recognized as crucial for process improvement, challenges persist in integrating consistent data collection methods into clinical workflow. Further development of easy-to-use software tailored to clinician needs can help improve stroke center capabilities to provide feedback and improve treatment processes.

Objectives: To explore how higher education institutions (HEIs) make transparent the data they collect on staff disability, and how this relates to existing equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) charters., Design: Descriptive cross-sector quantitative study based on UK HEIs., Setting: Higher education sector in the UK., Participants: 162 HEIs across the UK with information extracted from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), each institution's website and Advance HE., Primary and Secondary Outcome Measures: Availability of a publicly available EDI report. Type of information on staff disability identified within the EDI report and level of detail, the latter derived from the number of different types of information provided in the report. Athena SWAN and Disability Confident award level for each HEI were used as a proxy for the sector's commitment to EDI., Results: Under a quarter of HEIs do not have an open EDI report online. The majority of Athena SWAN award holders make their EDI reports publicly available, which is similar by Disability Confident status. Russell Group universities are more likely to have a publicly available report. Regionally, EDI report availability is lowest in London. The level of detail with regards to staff disability varies, with more than half of institutions providing 'little detail' and just under a third 'some detail'. Athena SWAN award holders and Disability Confident members are twice as likely to provide 'some detail' than those which do not hold an award., Conclusions: Challenges remain to obtain a clear picture of staff with disabilities within higher education. Background: A decade ago paper questionnaires were more common in epidemiology than those administered online, but increasing Internet access may have changed this. Researchers planning to use a self-administered questionnaire should know whether response rates to questionnaires administered electronically differ to those of questionnaires administered by post. We analysed trials included in a recently updated Cochrane Review to answer this question., Methods: We exported data of randomised controlled trials included in three comparisons in the Cochrane Review that had evaluated hypotheses relevant to our research objective and imported them into Stata for a series of meta-analyses not conducted in the Cochrane review. We pooled odds ratios for response using random effects meta-analyses. We explored causes of heterogeneity among study results using subgroups. We assessed evidence for reporting bias using Harbord's modified test for small-study effects., Results: Twenty-seven trials (66,118 participants) evaluated the effect on response of an electronic questionnaire compared with postal. Results were heterogeneous (I-squared = 98%). There was evidence for biased (greater) effect estimates in studies at high risk of bias; A synthesis of studies at low risk of bias indicates that response was increased (OR = 1.43; 95% CI 1.08-1.89) using postal questionnaires. Ten trials (39,523 participants) evaluated the effect of providing a choice of mode (postal or electronic) compared to an electronic questionnaire only. Response was increased with a choice of mode (OR = 1.63; 95% CI 1.18-2.26). Eight trials (20,909 participants) evaluated the effect of a choice of mode (electronic or postal) compared to a postal questionnaire only. There was no evidence for an effect on response of a choice of mode compared with postal only (OR = 0.94; 95% CI 0.86-1.02)., Conclusions: Postal questionnaires should be used in preference to, or offered in addition to, electronic modes., (© 2024. Effective clinical reasoning is essential for veterinary medical education, particularly in managing complex cases. This review explores strategies for learning clinical reasoning by veterinary medical learners, using a case example of mastitis to illustrate key concepts. Clinical reasoning encompasses cognitive, metacognitive, social, and situational activities, yet the literature on practical applications in veterinary education remains limited. The review discusses various stages of clinical reasoning, including data collection, problem representation, differential diagnosis, and management planning. It emphasizes the importance of integrating client-centered care and iterative evaluation into the clinical decision-making process. Key learning strategies include facilitation in using the domains of clinical reasoning-concepts, data collection, and analysis, taking action, and reflection on encounters. This review highlights best practices such as forward and backward reasoning, reflective practice, and the use of practical examples to enhance learners' diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. The insights provided aim to enhance the training of veterinary learners, ensuring they can navigate day 1 as well as complex cases with improved diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.

A comprehensive understanding of sports biomechanics is essential for optimizing athletic performance. Recent advancements in sensor technology, particularly inertial sensors, have transformed the landscape of sports performance analysis. These sensors offer profound insights into the kinematic and kinetic aspects of sports, with a particular impact on water-based sports such as rowing and canoeing. This systematic review aims to establish a comprehensive framework for examining sensor technologies and evaluating biomechanical performance in rowing and canoeing. The authors systematically searched four prominent databases (Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct, and Sage Journals), concentrating on research that has employed sensors to analyze critical performance variables in rowing and canoeing. Our exclusion criteria included manuscripts that exclusively addressed ergometer-based studies, those lacking sensor-related content, unrelated subjects, and publications dating back more than 15 years. The authors used the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Quality Assessment Tools to assess study quality and bias risk. A total of 11 studies were included in this review. This review also acknowledges the limitations, such as the exclusion of gray literature and studies in languages other than English, which may have limited the scope of the research. The studies were synthesized qualitatively, focusing on key variables, including oar/paddle force, boat speed, and technique, and were analyzed, providing quantitative insights. Sensor technology has ushered in a new era of rowing and canoeing performance analysis.

Background: Digitization is vital for data management, especially in health care. However, problems still hinder health care stakeholders in their daily work while collecting, processing, and providing health data or information. Data are missing, incorrect, cannot be collected, or information is inadequately presented. These problems can be seen as data or information problems. A proven way to elicit requirements for (software) systems is by using creative frameworks (eg, user-centered design, design thinking, lean UX [user experience], or service design) or creative methods (eg, mind mapping, storyboarding, 6 thinking hats, or interaction room). However, to what extent they are used to solve data or information-related problems in health care is unclear., Objective: The primary objective of this scoping review is to investigate the use of creative frameworks in addressing data and information problems in health care., Methods: Following JBI guidelines and the PRISMA-ScR framework, this paper analyzes selected papers, answering whether creative frameworks addressed health care data or information problems. Focusing on data problems (elicitation or collection, processing) and information problems (provision or visualization), the review examined German and English papers published between 2018 and 2022 using keywords related to "data," "design," and "user-centered." The database SCOPUS was used., Results: Of the 898 query results, only 23 papers described a data or information problem and a creative method to solve it. These were included in the follow-up analysis and divided into different problem categories: data collection (n=7), data processing (n=1), information visualization (n=11), and mixed problems meaning data and information problem present (n=4). The analysis showed that most identified problems fall into the information visualization category. This could indicate that creative frameworks are particularly suitable for solving information or visualization problems and less for other, more abstract areas such as data problems. The results also showed that most researchers applied a creative framework after they knew what specific (data or information) problem they had (n=21). Only a minority chose a creative framework to identify a problem and realize it was a data or information problem (n=2). In response to these findings, the paper discusses the need for a new approach that addresses health care data and information challenges by promoting collaboration, iterative feedback, and user-centered development., Conclusions: Although the potential of creative frameworks is undisputed, applying these in solving data and information problems is a minority. To harness this potential, a suitable method needs to be developed to support health care system stakeholders. Background: In the United States, patients with monochorionic diamniotic twins who undergo in utero fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) for twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) may travel great distances for care. After delivery, many parents cannot return to study sites for formal pediatric evaluation due to geographic location and cost., Objective: The aim of this study was to collect long-term pediatric outcomes in patients who underwent FLP for TTTS., Methods: We assessed the feasibility of using a web-based survey designed in REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture; Vanderbilt University) to collect parent-reported outcomes in children treated for TTTS at a single center during 2011-2019. Patients with ≥1 neonatal survivor were invited via email to complete 5 possible questionnaires: the child status questionnaire (CSQ); fetal center questionnaire (FCQ); Ages & Stages Questionnaires, Third Edition (ASQ-3); Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised With Follow-Up (M-CHAT-R/F); and thank you questionnaire (TYQ). The R programming language (R Foundation for Statistical Computing) was used to automate survey distribution, scoring, and creation of customized reports. The survey was performed in 2019 and repeated after 12 months in the same study population in 2020., Results: A total of 389 patients in 26 different states and 2 international locations had an email address on file and received an invitation in 2019 to complete the survey (median pediatric age 48.9, IQR 1.0-93.6 months). Among surveyed mothers in 2019, the overall response rate was 37.3% (145/389), and the questionnaire completion rate was 98% (145/148), 87.8% (130/148), 71.1% (81/100), 86.4% (19/22), and 74.3% (110/148) for the CSQ, FCQ, ASQ-3, M-CHAT-R/F, and TYQ, respectively. Background: The evidence base for hydration practice in care homes is underdeveloped. High-quality research is therefore needed to determine what practices support older people with dementia in drinking sufficient fluid. However, methodological developments are needed to be able to do this., Aim: To highlight the methodological issues researchers encountered during a feasibility cluster, randomised controlled trial of ThinkDrink, a hydration care guide for people with dementia living in UK care homes., Discussion: This is a challenging area because of the complexity of recruitment, participation and data collection in care homes. Researchers must pay extra attention to rigour and quality in the design of their studies. Background: An embedded single case-study design was used to explore the experiences of men in rural New Zealand accessing mental health services. It is essential for researchers to acknowledge positionality in case study research and the lead author used reflexive practice to acknowledge his values and beliefs., Aim: To explore and demonstrate the reflexive process of the lead author's position as an inside researcher., Discussion: Three groups were involved in the research: men with mental health challenges, their partners, and mental health clinicians. The article presents the initial research through memos and diarying in the context of current literature., Conclusion: Reflexivity is essential for ensuring the research process is complete and biases are identified. Background: SMS text messages through mobile phones are a common means of interpersonal communication. SMS text message surveys are gaining traction in health care and research due to their feasibility and patient acceptability. However, challenges arise in implementing SMS text message surveys, especially when targeting marginalized populations, because of barriers to accessing phones and data as well as communication difficulties. In primary care, traditional surveys (paper-based and online) often face low response rates that are particularly pronounced among disadvantaged groups due to financial limitations, language barriers, and time constraints., Objective: This study aimed to investigate the potential of SMS text message-based patient recruitment and surveys within general practices situated in lower socioeconomic areas. This study was nested within the Reducing Alcohol-Harm in General Practice project that aimed to reduce alcohol-related harm through screening in Australian general practice., Methods: This study follows a 2-step SMS text message data collection process. An initial SMS text message with an online survey link was sent to patients, followed by subsequent surveys every 3 months for consenting participants. Interviews were conducted with the local primary health network organization staff, the participating practice staff, and the clinicians. The qualitative data were analyzed using constructs from the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research., Results: Out of 6 general practices, 4 were able to send SMS text messages to their patients. The initial SMS text message was sent to 8333 patients and 702 responses (8.2%) were received, most of which were not from a low-income group. This low initial response was in contrast to the improved response rate to the ongoing 3-month SMS text message surveys (55/107, 51.4% at 3 months; 29/67, 43.3% at 6 months; and 44/102, 43.1% at 9 months). We interviewed 4 general practitioners, 4 nurses, and 4 administrative staff from 5 of the different practices. Qualitative data uncovered barriers to engaging marginalized groups including limited smartphone access, limited financial capacity (telephone, internet, and Wi-Fi credit), language barriers, literacy issues, mental health conditions, and physical limitations such as manual dexterity and vision issues. Practice managers and clinicians suggested strategies to overcome these barriers, including using paper-based surveys in trusted spaces, offering assistance during survey completion, and offering honoraria to support participation., Conclusions: While SMS text message surveys for primary care research may be useful for the broader population, additional efforts are required to ensure the representation and involvement of marginalized groups. Background: Integrating health information into university information systems holds significant potential for enhancing student support and well-being. Despite the growing body of research highlighting issues faced by university students, including stress, depression, and disability, little has been done in the informatics field to incorporate health technologies at the institutional level., Objective: This study aims to investigate the current state of health information integration within university systems and provide design recommendations to address existing gaps and opportunities., Methods: We used a user-centered approach to conduct interviews and focus group sessions with stakeholders to gather comprehensive insights and requirements for the system. The methodology involved data collection, analysis, and the development of a suggested workflow., Results: The findings of this study revealed the shortcomings in the current process of handling health and disability data within university information systems. In our results, we discuss some requirements identified for integrating health-related information into student information systems, such as privacy and confidentiality, timely communication, task automation, and disability resources. We propose a workflow that separates the process into 2 distinct components: a health and disability system and measures of quality of life and wellness. The proposed workflow highlights the vital role of academic advisors in facilitating support and enhancing coordination among stakeholders., Conclusions: To streamline the workflow, it is vital to have effective coordination among stakeholders and redesign the university information system. However, implementing the new system will require significant capital and resources. We strongly emphasize the importance of increased standardization and regulation to support the information system requirements for health and disability. This scoping review aims to describe the range of research studies using arts-based data collection methods with immigrant and racialized older adults. A secondary aim is to identify challenges and strengths of using these approaches with this population. This review uses Arksey and O'Malley's five-stage scoping review framework with a final number of 16 references included for the study. Enhanced social connectedness, increased transparency and quality of findings, and self-empowerment were key strengths of using arts-based approaches for data collection. Challenges identified included resource limitations, cultural and language barriers, and barriers to meaningful engagement. Only a small number of studies have utilized arts-based methods with immigrant and racialized older adults. New study highlights critical gaps and opportunities to enhance equitable cancer care for sexual and gender minority patients.

Data capture systems that acquire continuous hospital-based electrocardiographic (ECG) and physiologic (vital signs) data can foster robust research (i.e., large sample sizes from consecutive patients). However, the application of these systems and the data generated are complex and requires careful human oversight to ensure that accurate and high quality data are procured. This technical article will describe two different data capture systems created by our research group designed to examine false alarms associated with alarm fatigue in nurses. The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) prepares an annual set of summary slides to summarize the trends in transplantation and cellular therapies. For the first time in the 2023 summary slides, the CIBMTR incorporated data for patients receiving chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) infusions. In addition, data on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are included. This report aims to update the annual trends in US hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) activity and incorporate data on the use of CAR-T therapies. A second aim is to present and describe the development, implementation, and current status of PRO data collection. In August 2020, the CIBMTR launched the Protocol for Collection of Patient-Reported Outcomes Data (CIBMTR PRO Protocol). The CIBMTR PRO Protocol operates under a centralized infrastructure to reduce the burden to centers. Specifically, PRO data are collected from a prospective convenience sample of adult HCT and CAR-T recipients who received treatment at contributing centers and consented for research. Data are merged and stored with the clinical data and used under the governance of the CIBMTR Research Database Protocol. Participants answer a series of surveys developed by the Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) focusing on physical, social and emotional, and other measures assessing financial well-being, occupational functioning, and social determinants of health. To complement traditionally measured clinical outcomes, the surveys are administered at the same time points at which clinical data are routinely collected. As of September 2023, PRO data have been collected from 993 patients across 25 different centers. With the goal of incorporating these important patient perspectives into standard clinical care, the CIBMTR has added the PRO data to Data Back to Centers (DBtC). Through expanding the data types represented in the registry, the CIBMTR aims to support holistic research accounting for the patients' perspective in improving patient outcomes. CIBMTR PRO data aim to provide a foundation for future large-scale, population-level evaluations to identify areas for improvement, emerging disparities in access and health outcomes (eg, by age, race, and ethnicity), and new therapies that may impact current treatment guidelines.
