The Grace Atkin Woodbury papers (1884-1964) contain diaries, correspondence, notebooks, manuscripts, and memorabilia. The documents provide an intimate record of Woodbury's life and her perceptions of the world in which she lived.

The Linda Sillitoe papers (1940-1996) contain handwritten and typed manuscripts of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, as well as research files consisting of news clippings, correspondence, articles, promotional materials, and other documents. Included are drafts and correspondence for a biography of Lowell L. Bennion by Mary Bradford for which Linda Sillitoe served as editor. Sillitoe was a writer and poet., Also included are research files compiled by Sillitoe during her research and writing of Friendly Fire: The ACLU in Utah (1996). These files focus on individuals associated with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Utah and offer news clippings, photocopied correspondence from the 1960s and 1970s, original correspondence from the 1990s, and interview notes and other documents regarding individuals involved in ACLU litigation and/or administration. These individuals include national and local ACLU administrators and attorneys, ACLU board members, and Utah state government officials. Also included are documents containing information relating to the administrative structure and activities of the ACLU of Utah, as well as its general history. The collection also contains manuscripts of books, short stories, and poetry written by Sillitoe. Sillitoe also collected various handwritten and typed poems written by Mormon women.

The Sigrid Peterson papers (1970-1988) contain articles, handouts, pamphlets, church materials, programs, data, research materials, curriculum vitae, day planners, sheet music, and news clippings. The majority of the collection deals with research on auto-immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), as well as community reaction to it. This is mainly focused on the Jewish community. Also included is research on morality and suicide rates in Utah. Peterson is a psychologist and author who founded Bridges Interfaith Center for Counseling and Psychological Services in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Deedee Corradini papers (1960-2013) consist primarily of materials on the 2002 Olympic Games, including brochures, pamphlets, reports, and bid books. Also included are materials relating to her campaign. Dee Corradini was elected mayor of Salt Lake City in 1991 and served two consecutive terms. She was instrumental in bringing the 2002 Winter Olympic Games to Salt Lake City.

The Jo-Anne Ely papers (1949-1977) contain correspondence, news clippings, interview transcripts, maps, reports, and published material relating to Charles A. "Charlie" Steen, the "Uranium King," and uranium mining in Utah. Ely was researching a possible biography of Steen.

The Helen O'Connell papers (1940s-1970s) consist mainly of sheet music used by Helen O'Connell during her singing career. The music is arranged alphabetically by song name and generally dates from the 1940s to the 1970s. Because the bulk of it is penned by hand, publication dates are very few. Some correspondence, programs, announcements, news clippings, and other materials are also included in the collection.

Includes personnel files and flight logs, WASP wings, official letters from the Army Air Forces and personal letters of recommendation, Fifinella honorable service pin and other medals and insignia, ID cards and licenses, certificates/diplomas, letters, clothing and patches pertaining to Martha Rountree's WASP service. Her personnel papers detail her orders, training records and exams, records of compliance, job title/salary, and immunization records. Also includes post-war records regarding the fight for militarization, the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame Medal and other materials.

The collection (1884-1943) includes general correspondence, legal documents, writings, miscellany, and an unidentified diary (1916). [OVERSIZE MATERIALS: B1], This collection contains Grace Marron Gilmore's incoming and outgoing correspondence as well as correspondence concerning the Gilmore ranch (1888-1908, n.d.); a diary kept by an unidentified person (April 30-July 18, 1916); deeds and a contract; James W. Gilmore's will (1905); the marriage certificate for Grace Bendon and Edward Marron (1884); speeches and writings of Grace Marron Gilmore including "The Home Library," "The Prairie Fire," "Prominent Women of Today," etc. (1930-1943, n.d.); and miscellaneous materials. Taylor Gordon was an African American singer and author who grew up in White Sulphur Springs, Montana. Collection (1882-1980) includes letters, writings, financial records, and clippings for Taylor; his sister Rose Gordon, a White Sulphur Springs business woman and physical therapist; and other members of the Gordon family; the Florence Mining Company; and the Democratic party in Montana., The collection is arranged into four subgroups. The first two are Taylor Gordon and Rose Gordon, each including correspondence, financial records, legal documents, writings, clippings, and miscellany. Correspondence addressed to both Taylor and Rose is filed in a separate chronological order in the Taylor Gordon subgroup as incoming correspondence. A third subgroup for the Gordon Family contains the materials of other family members. Correspondence from Taylor and Rose to the family is included in this series and is noted in the inventory. The final subgroup is Miscellany and contains materials for the White Sulphur Springs school; Florence Mining Company; Frank Phelps; Jessie and William Wellman; C.H. and P.H. Willard; Maud W. Crosby; Charles Tipton; Frank, Richard G., Mary L., and Charles H. Wight; etc.

The S. Floyd Mori papers (1962-2005) contain correspondence, scrapbooks, student papers, meeting minutes, reports, memos, brochures, pamphlets, and memorabilia related to Mori's activities with the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). Also included are documents related to his tenure as a California State Assemblyman.

Contains biographical materials, military and Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) documents, publications by Rossiter (1978-2003), instructor evaluations and photographs (1970-80s) Correspondence includes personal, Whirly-Girls (1979-2005), FAA, and various publishing houses. Also includes news clippings and articles about Rossiter, awards, certificates, and aviation epehemera.

A set of journals and ephemera written by David Smock between 1840 and 1878, including extensive entries about life in Indiana in the mid-1800’s. This collection also includes ephemera such as personal notes, letters, tax information, and church information. Smock writes of his daily life and his opinions on some subjects such as: people he meets, happenings in the local communities he visits, and happenings within the churches he visits. Many of these subjects include his time as a travelling minister for the Presbyterian Church around Indiana and later in Iowa. It also contains a family history of the Smock family, with particular focus on Samuel Smock.

Deeds, correspondence, wills and estate records, complaints and writs of execution, relating to the Taylor family of Danbury, Connecticut and Buckland and Deerfield, Massachusetts. Also includes tax records from Shelburne and Charlemont, Massachusetts. Of particular note is the will of John Taylor of Windsor dated 1645, and letters written from military camps by Othniel Taylor during the Revolutionary War while he was with the army.

The Montana Governor's collection consists of general correspondence (1889-1905) of Joseph K. Toole, J.E. Rickards, and Robert B. Smith; and speeches by Joseph K. Toole., Records consist of general correspondence of Joseph K. Toole's two administrations (1889-1892 and 1901-1905), J.E. Rickards administration (1893-1896), and Robert Burns Smith's adminstration (1897-1900). The correspondence with individual constituents, organizations, and government agencies, is arranged alphabetically. There are also a few speeches by Toole. (MC 35a).

This collection consists of records relating to Reverend Edwin Ellis who came to Montana as a missionary in 1888 to start what would become a 40 year career establishing and monitoring Sunday Schools across the state. Collection includes autobiographical writings concerning Ellis and the communities he served; correspondence to, from and about Rev. Ellis (1899-1927) and his work in Montana; sermons (1905-1917); reports to Synod regarding Sabbath School work; and church related publications (1902-1944, undated)., This collection includes correspondence to, from, and about Rev. Ellis (1899-1927) and his work in Montana; reports to Synod regarding his Sabbath School work; autobiographical writings; sermons (1905-1917); and Presbyterian Church related publications (1902-1944, undated). Reminiscence and letters. Collection consists of a reminiscence (1908) about his wagon trip from Missouri to Montana Territory in 1866 and later experiences raising sheep, cattle, and hay at Silver Bow; and letters (1892) from U.S. Attorney Elbert D. Weed, Gov. Joseph K. Toole, and others in regard to Cree Indian activity in Silver Bow County.

James Brisbin, a Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, native, served as an Army officer in the Civil War and the Indian Wars, 1868-1891. He was stationed at Fort Ellis, Fort Assiniboine, Fort Custer, Montana Territory, and many other western forts. Brisbin was also a writer and publicist. The collection contains a small amount of correspondence (1860-1890), and writings (1850-1891) concerning the Army, the Indian Wars, the West, and Montana Territory., This collection consists almost exclusively of drafts and copies of James S. Brisbin's writings. These writings generally focus on his army career, the Plains Indian and the Indian Wars, and other facets of his experiences in the Northwest. Also included are articles and handwritten copies of letters to newspapers on a wide variety of topics. The collection also contains a small amount of correspondence, including Civil War era letters, family letters and correspondence on Brisbin's military career in the West. A portion of this collection has been microfilmed (Microfilm 328). (Manuscript Collection 39).

Collection consists of correspondence and other items of Sidney Edgerton and members of his family. Collection contains letters (1863-1887) written by Sidney Edgerton, Montana's territorial governor, his wife, and other family members concerning their wagon trip across the plains in 1863; frontier life in Bannack, Mont., including the vigilante movement; and early political developments. There is also a scrapbook of biographical clippings. Family members represented include Mary Wright Edgerton, Martha Edgerton Plassmann, and Wilbur Fisk Sanders.

Lucia Darling was the niece of Montana's first Territorial Governor, Sidney Edgerton, and one of the territory's first school teachers. This collection consists of a diary (June 1-September 1863) covering her overland trip to Montana with Edgerton's family. Also included are a reminiscence entitled "The First School in Montana," (Bannack); reports (1878-1885) she wrote as lady principal of Berea College; and a mining claim in the Bannack Mining District. [Diary same as MF 124a. Remininscence published in Vol. 5, Contributions to the Historical Society of Montana. Partial typescripts included.]., This collection contains one diary kept by Lucia Darling during her trip to Bannack (June l-September 17, 1863; typescript copies are also in the collection); an eight-page typescript reminiscence by Lucia Darling Park entitled "The First School in Montana"; a claim certificate from Beaverhead County (1864); three letters from Lucia Darling Park (1904) to Mrs. Howey concerning the diary; reports (1878-1885) she wrote as lady principal of Berea College; and a mining claim in Bannack Mining District. Pearl Danniel (1885-1975) was a homesteader in the Rock Creek area of McCone County, Montana, and a prolific writer. Collection consists primarily of her autobiographical, semi-autobiographical, fiction, poetry, essays, and political writings on a wide variety of topics including homesteading, Fort Peck Dam, the need for rural roads, political waste, and her anti-war sentiments., This collection consists primarily of the writings of Pearl Danniel. Writings include several uncompleted versions (written from the 1930s to the 1970s) of her autobiography. In addition there are several works of fiction, including a novel entitled "Slum Timber", several novelettes, including "Mad Dora", "A Harlot's Children", and "The Red Outlaw", and numerous short stories, many of which revolve around the life of her brother Bert Sparks. Also included in the collection are many essays and narrative poems about horses, cowboys, sheepherders, the Badlands, and her personal vision of the world; her regular local news column; and her political writings about the Fort Peck Dam, government waste, anti-war, women's equality (she didn't believe in it), and the need for a road through the isolated parts of McCone County. Most of her writings reflect the difficulty of survival in eastern Montana's Badlands, the loneliness of life on the homestead, the close community feeling of people living there, and her bitterness at the loss of her homestead to "The Government.", In addition to the writings there is also a small amount of correspondence (1951-1974) with family members, publishers, and political figures., There is a small subgroup for Albert Leroy Sparks, consisting of a horse brand book (1930-1931) and an unemployment registration card (1937-1940).

Scrapbooks of Henry O. Dwight contain original drawings, photographs, documents, maps, and a partial narrative of 1st Lieut. Dwight's service in the Ohio Volunteer Infantry 20th Regiment. The drawings and photographs depict camp life and fellow officers from 1861 to 1865 while his narrative ceases during 1863. Some documents include a dispatch from Gen U.S. Grant, a map of Sherman's march to the sea, hand-drawn maps of battles in Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina, a sketch of Windsor Plantation in Mississippi and memorabilia from regimental reunions.

Poet, lyricist, and author of Ohio. Correspondence; mss. of Dunbar's prose, poetry, and lyrics; notebooks; financial and legal records; and scrapbooks. Correspondents include members of Dunbar's family; Edward H. Dodd, publisher; and Dr. Henry A. Tobey, friend and benefactor.

Correspondence, military records, flight manuals, news clippings, identification cards, training handbook and color copy of photographs of Brown while at Avenger and Aloe Field, ca. 1944. Includes letters regarding application to Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WAFS) and WASP. Personal letters to family include oversize postcards of training planes, February 1944 to October 1944. Also includes the Memorial Service program from the memorial service of WASPs Elizabeth Erickson and Mary Howson, ca. 1944.

Contains biographical material, military records and two pilot log books, 1942-1944. The log books document her private pilot training in Sunny South Airport, Miami, Florida; her training at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, Texas after joining th WASP; and wartime assignments at Dallas Love Field and Shaw Army Air Field, 1943-1944. Also includes photographs of WASP during the war and at later reunions.

Correspondence files with the Whirly-Girls and the Jerrie Cobb Foundation; news clippings, photographs of Stratford; photographs of Whirly-Girls conventions; and a group of 16 mm films.

Miscellaneous letters and records of a flight instructor for the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) at Sweetwater, Texas. Includes a letter of recommendation from Aviation Enterprises (1945); letters and news regarding former Sweetwater flight instructors to be published in the WASP Newsletter (1973); and a letter detailing Oldham's flight and training experience after the closing of the WASP training base with details about his training and overseas assignments in Tripoli, Libya and Cairo transporting men and supplies for the Army Air Force. He seperated from the military in 1946. Also includes volumes of letters to the editors of various newspapers and magazines.

Biographical sketch detailing briefly her experience in the WASP and her work with Stinson Aircraft Company. Also includes photographs, resume, news clippings about Cook, a few letters, records about Stinson Aircraft Company and the L-5 airplane.

The bulk of the collection consists of post war files, including military records, materials and reports about the class of 43-W-7, identification cards, correspondence with the WASP organization, news clippings, photographs and reunion records.

There are programs and news clippings pertaining to Reed's competition in several Powder Puff races sponsored by the Ninety-Nines, a women's aviation organization.

Copies of various military records as part of the Women's Civilian Pilot Program, including identification cards; orders; medical forms; an accident report, April 20, 1944; photographs and color copies of her WASP insignia. Special orders include her transition training at the B-26 Transition Group at Mather Field, Sacramento, California. Another form indicates her flight record at Biggs Field, El Paso, Texas.

Biographical material, report on the WASP program by Marjorie Nicol, records of postwar reunions, and "Air Transport Command" menu and photographs from the funeral of Ken Magid.

An album of photographs pertaining to Pickering's experiences at a flight school in Independence, California, July 1943; WASP training at Sweetwater, Texas (Feb.-Sept. 1944); and her flying assignment as an engineering test pilot at Marana Army Air Base at Tucson, Arizona, until the WASP were deactivated December 20, 1944. Also includes photographs of her family living in North Hollywood, California. Also includes 2 kneeboards, maps, pilot's log book, news clippings and correspondence.

Artist. Graduate of Texas State College for Women (TSCW), now known as Texas Woman's University., Primarily letters and notes from artist Antoinette LaSelle, a former professor at TSCW and teacher of Fulton, along with an informally produced book of photocopies by LaSelle showing movement and shape drawings from travels in 1927. Also includes four letters between artists Bettina Steinke and Fulton. Steinke, in a 1983 letter refutes differences among painters. "You're either a good painter or a bad painter, the work speaks for you."

Aviator. Earned her private pilot license in October 1940, in Red Bluff, California; flight instructor at Reno Airport. Served in the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), class of 43-W-2., WASP leather flying helmet; ID card and pin at Long Beach, private pilots certificate, 1943, honorable discharge certificate, 1943, WASP insignia and wings, invitation to class 43-W-2 graduation in Houston and miscellaneous reunion materials.

Contains biographical materials, military flight records, articles written by Hohn, photographs and a scrapbook. Correspondence is both personal and pertaining to WASP, Inc., a postwar organization for the WASP. The collection also includes news clippings and articles about Hohn and WASP reunion ephemera. Flight records indicate she served at Romulus Army Air Base, Romulus, Michigan; Greenwood Army Air Base, Greenwood, Mississippi; Tyndall Field, Panama City, Florida and Cochran Field, Georgia.

Contains news clippings, photographs, aviation publications, video of "Silver Wings and Santiago Blue," a small group of aviation bumper stickers, and a variety of WASP ephemera. Also includes cards supporting United States troops overseas as part of a campaign headed by Gunderson during the WASP 2008 Reunion.

Letters from March 24, 1943-October 17, 1944, written home to her family during the war. Also includes flight records, military orders and four photographs of Muller. The letters provide a detailed view of life while training at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, Texas, and her permanent assignment in the Fifth Ferring Group at Love Field, Dallas, Texas. Ruth describes her temporary assignment at Officer Training School in Orlando, Florida.

Correspondence, subject files, organizations, speeches, judgeships, printed and audio visual materials. This collection consists primarily of material collected during the years (1977-1998) while she worked as a District Attorney for Nueces County, Texas; as judge of the 148th District Court in Corpus Christi, 1995-1998; and in 1998 as federal judge in the U.S. Southern District of Texas, Brownsville, nominated by Bill Clinton.

The Robert Alan Goldberg papers (1880-2019) house materials gathered by Goldberg while researching information for his books, Back to the Soil: The Jewish Farmers of Clarion, Utah, and Their World, Grassroots Resistance: Social Movements in Twentieth Century America, Enemies Within: The Culture of Conspiracy in Modern America, Hooded Empire: The Ku Klux Klan in Colorado, and Barry Goldwater., The materials for the book, Back to the Soil: The Jewish Farmers of Clarion, Utah and Their World, are housed in boxes 1-4. Clarion was a Jewish agricultural settlement which existed from 1912 to 1915, with the last members leaving in the 1920s. It was led by Benjamin Brown and other Jewish immigrants from the Pale of Russia and Poland. The colony received homestead land from the state of Utah and tried to establish an agricultural Jewish community near Gunnison in Sanpete County. The small community failed shortly after being established because of poor soil, lack of water, physical hardships, and discontent among its members. Box 1 includes the initial research proposal, and the diaries, monographs, and transcripts of interviews used to form the basis of the book. Most of these papers are in Yiddish with English translations, and were written by the leaders of the agriculture experiment. Box 2 holds two drafts of Goldberg's book. Boxes 3-4 contain correspondence with and written recollections from the survivors of Clarion and or their family members. This material is organized alphabetically by family name., The materials for Grassroots Resistance: Social Movements in Twentieth Century America are housed in boxes 5-21. They consist of brochures, newsletters, newspapers, and membership applications from activist groups. Magazine articles and news clippings about the activities of these academic, political, religious, and or radical organizations from the 1960s-1970s era are also included. Some of the groups represented are the National Socialist White People's Party, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Christian Anti-Communists Crusade, Clergy and Laymen Concerned about Vietnam, the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, the National Organization for Women, and the Rainbow Family of Living Light. Box 5 has material on African American history and the civil rights movement from 1968 to 1972. Boxes 6-14 contain information on the various activist groups and are arranged alphabetically by group name. Box 15 houses information on activist causes prevalent in the United States during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Boxes 16-20 hold 110 different newspapers from this same era. The newspapers are from Cuba, China, Vietnam, and the activist syndicated underground press, as well as some established American newspapers. The newspaper publications are listed in alphabetical order by their published trade name with a cross reference to the publishing organization in the folder description. Addenda to the collection includes other research and general materials.
