Abstract: This research proposes the study of the space of care in collective public housing in Uruguay, conceiving care as a common good and integrating the perspective of feminist urbanism as an epistemological framework of approach. It starts from the recognition of the collective scale for the approach to care, seeking to transcend the dichotomies between the individual private and the collective public, in the conjunction of spheres (Muxi, 2018) that implies the material and symbolic reproduction of social life (Gutiérrez, 2020). This article reports on an ongoing doctoral research process that proposes within its objectives to contribute to the ways of thinking and projecting in the collective housing scale from this perspective, through the identification and generation of new tools for the design, planning and management of living space, as well as new parameters for the articulation of public policies in housing, habitat and care. Keywords: Collective public housing, cooperativism, commons and care, La presente investigación plantea el estudio del espacio de los cuidados en la arquitectura habitacional colectiva de producción pública en Uruguay, concibiendo los cuidados como bien común e integrando la perspectiva del urbanismo feminista como marco epistemológico de abordaje. Parte del reconocimiento de la escala colectiva para el abordaje de los cuidados, en busca de trascender las dicotomías entre lo privado individual y lo público colectivo, en la conjunción de esferas (Muxi, 2018) que implica la reproducción material y simbólica de la vida social (Gutiérrez, 2020). El presente artículo da cuenta de un proceso de investigación doctoral en curso que propone dentro de sus objetivos aportar a los modos de pensar y proyectar en la escala habitacional colectiva desde esta perspectiva, a través de la identificación y generación de nuevas herramientas de diseño, planificación y gestión del espacio habitable, así como nuevos parámetros para la articulación de políticas públicas en vivienda, hábitat y cuidados. Abstract: The Extreme Universe Space Observatory on a Super Pressure Balloon 1 (EUSO-SPB1) was launched in 2017 April from Wanaka, New Zealand. The plan of this mission of opportunity on a NASA super pressure balloon test flight was to circle the southern hemisphere. The primary scientific goal was to make the first observations of ultra-high-energy cosmic-ray extensive air showers (EASs) by looking down on the atmosphere with an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence telescope from suborbital altitude (33 km). After 12 days and 4 h aloft, the flight was terminated prematurely in the Pacific Ocean. Before the flight, the instrument was tested extensively in the West Desert of Utah, USA, with UV point sources and lasers. The test results indicated that the instrument had sensitivity to EASs of EeV. Simulations of the telescope system, telescope on time, and realized flight trajectory predicted an observation of about 1 event assuming clear sky conditions. The effects of high clouds were estimated to reduce this value by approximately a factor of 2. A manual search and a machine-learning-based search did not find any EAS signals in these data. Here we review the EUSO-SPB1 instrument and flight and the EAS search.

Abstract: The Extreme Universe Space Observatory on a Super Pressure Balloon 1 (EUSO-SPB1) was launched in 2017 April from Wanaka, New Zealand. The plan of this mission of opportunity on a NASA super pressure balloon test flight was to circle the southern hemisphere. The primary scientific goal was to make the first observations of ultra-high-energy cosmic-ray extensive air showers (EASs) by looking down on the atmosphere with an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence telescope from suborbital altitude (33~km). After 12~days and 4~hours aloft, the flight was terminated prematurely in the Pacific Ocean. Before the flight, the instrument was tested extensively in the West Desert of Utah, USA, with UV point sources and lasers. The test results indicated that the instrument had sensitivity to EASs of approximately 3 EeV. Simulations of the telescope system, telescope on time, and realized flight trajectory predicted an observation of about 1 event assuming clear sky conditions. The effects of high clouds were estimated to reduce this value by approximately a factor of 2. A manual search and a machine-learning-based search did not find any EAS signals in these data. Abstract: Background: Tumor heterogeneity poses major clinical challenges in high-grade gliomas (HGGs). Quantitative radiomic analysis with spatial tumor habitat clustering represents an innovative, non-invasive approach to represent and quantify tumor microenvironment heterogeneity. To date, habitat imaging has been applied mainly on conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), although virtually extendible to any imaging modality, including advanced MRI techniques such as perfusion and diffusion MRI as well as positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Objectives: This study aims to evaluate an innovative PET and MRI approach for assessing hypoxia, perfusion, and tissue diffusion in HGGs and derive a combined map for clustering of intra-tumor heterogeneity. Materials and Methods: Seventeen patients harboring HGGs underwent a pre-operative acquisition of MR perfusion (PWI), Diffusion (dMRI) and 18F-labeled fluoroazomycinarabinoside (18F-FAZA) PET imaging to evaluate tumor vascularization, cellularity, and hypoxia, respectively. Tumor volumes were segmented on fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) and T1 post-contrast images, and voxel-wise clustering of each quantitative imaging map identified eight combined PET and physiologic MRI habitats. Habitats’ spatial distribution, quantitative features and histopathological characteristics were analyzed. Results: A highly reproducible distribution pattern of the clusters was observed among different cases, particularly with respect to morphological landmarks as the necrotic core, contrast-enhancing vital tumor, and peritumoral infiltration and edema, providing valuable supplementary information to conventional imaging. A preliminary analysis, performed on stereotactic bioptic samples where exact intracranial coordinates were available, identified a reliable correlation between the expected microenvironment of the different spatial habitats and the actual histopathological features. 15. Common Iliac Artery Mycotic Pseudoaneurysm Associated with a Prevertebral Infection: A Case Report

Abstract: Introduction: Mycotic pseudoaneurysms are rare but severe sequelae of an arterial wall infection. If undiagnosed and untreated they can lead to signiﬁcant morbidity and mortality through complications such as arterial rupture or dissection.Case report: This report details the case of a 64-year-old-male who developed a left common iliac artery mycotic pseudoaneurysm from Proteus mirabilis, which was associated with a prevertebral abscess. The patient presented with isolated, left lower extremity edema and intermittent fevers. The case is unique in both the pathogen (P mirabilis) and in its association with presumed direct arterial wall infection from an adjacent prevertebral abscess.Conclusion: The obscure presentation highlights the need for a high clinical suspicion of such a diagnosis when a patient presents with a certain constellation of symptoms and the right predisposing risk factors in their history.

Abstract: Although compositional variation in the gut microbiome during human development has been extensively investigated, strain-resolved dynamic changes remain to be fully uncovered. In the current study, shotgun metagenomic sequencing data of 12,415 fecal microbiomes from healthy individuals are employed for strain-level tracking of gut microbiota members to elucidate its evolving biodiversity across the human life span. This detailed longitudinal meta-analysis reveals host sex-related persistence of strains belonging to common, maternally-inherited species, such as Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum. Comparative genome analyses, coupled with experiments including intimate interaction between microbes and human intestinal cells, show that specific bacterial glycosyl hydrolases related to host-glycan metabolism may contribute to more efficient colonization in females compared to males. These findings point to an intriguing ancient sex-specific host-microbe coevolution driving the selective persistence in women of key microbial taxa that may be vertically passed on to the next generation.

Abstract: Auto-encoders (AEs) have the potential to be effective and generic tools for new physics searches at colliders, requiring little to no model-dependent assumptions. New hypothetical physics signals can be considered anomalies that deviate from the well-known background processes generally expected to describe the whole dataset. We present a search formulated as an anomaly detection (AD) problem, using an AE to define a criterion to decide about the physics nature of an event. In this work, we perform an AD search for manifestations of a dark version of strong force using raw detector images, which are large and very sparse, without leveraging any physics-based pre-processing or assumption on the signals. We propose a dual-encoder design which can learn a compact latent space through conditioning. In the context of multiple AD metrics, we present a clear improvement over competitive baselines and prior approaches. It is the first time that an AE is shown to exhibit excellent discrimination against multiple dark shower models, illustrating the suitability of this method as a performant, model-independent algorithm to deploy, e.g., in the trigger stage of LHC experiments such as ATLAS and CMS., Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures, and 11 tables

Abstract: JEM--EUSO is an international program for the development of space-based Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Ray observatories. The program consists of a series of missions which are either under development or in the data analysis phase. All instruments are based on a wide-field-of-view telescope, which operates in the near-UV range, designed to detect the fluorescence light emitted by extensive air showers in the atmosphere. We describe the simulation software ESAFin the framework of the JEM--EUSO program and explain the physical assumptions used. We present here the implementation of the JEM--EUSO, POEMMA, K--EUSO, TUS, Mini--EUSO, EUSO--SPB1 and EUSO--TA configurations in ESAF. For the first time ESAF simulation outputs are compared with experimental data.

21. Triggering Dark Showers with Conditional Dual Auto-Encoders

Abstract: Auto-encoders (AEs) have the potential to be effective and generic tools for new physics searches at colliders, requiring little to no model-dependent assumptions. New hypothetical physics signals can be considered anomalies that deviate from the well-known background processes generally expected to describe the whole dataset. We present a search formulated as an anomaly detection (AD) problem, using an AE to define a criterion to decide about the physics nature of an event. In this work, we perform an AD search for manifestations of a dark version of strong force using raw detector images, which are large and very sparse, without leveraging any physics-based pre-processing or assumption on the signals. We propose a dual-encoder design which can learn a compact latent space through conditioning. In the context of multiple AD metrics, we present a clear improvement over competitive baselines and prior approaches. It is the first time that an AE is shown to exhibit excellent discrimination against multiple dark shower models, illustrating the suitability of this method as a performant, model-independent algorithm to deploy, e.g., in the trigger stage of LHC experiments such as ATLAS and CMS., Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures, and 11 tables

Abstract: In this review paper, several new approaches about the 3C‐SiC growth are been presented. In fact, despite the long research activity on 3C‐SiC, no devices with good electrical characteristics have been obtained due to the high defect density and high level of stress. To overcome these problems, two different approaches have been used in the last years. From one side, several compliance substrates have been used to try to reduce both the defects and stress, while from another side, the first bulk growth has been performed to try to improve the quality of this material with respect to the heteroepitaxial one. From all these studies, a new understanding of the material defects has been obtained, as well as regarding all the interactions between defects and several growth parameters. This new knowledge will be the basis to solve the main issue of the 3C‐SiC growth and reach the goal to obtain a material with low defects and low stress that would allow for realizing devices with extremely interesting characteristics.

Abstract: Advanced molecular and pathophysiologic characterization of primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) has revealed insights into promising targeted therapeutic approaches. Medical imaging plays a fundamental role in PCNSL diagnosis, staging, and response assessment. Institutional imaging variation and inconsistent clinical trial reporting diminishes the reliability and reproducibility of clinical response assessment. In this context, we aimed to: (1) critically review the use of advanced positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the setting of PCNSL; (2) provide results from an international survey of clinical sites describing the current practices for routine and advanced imaging, and (3) provide biologically based recommendations from the International PCNSL Collaborative Group (IPCG) on adaptation of standardized imaging practices. The IPCG provides PET and MRI consensus recommendations built upon previous recommendations for standardized brain tumor imaging protocols (BTIP) in primary and metastatic disease. A biologically integrated approach is provided to addresses the unique challenges associated with the imaging assessment of PCNSL. Detailed imaging parameters facilitate the adoption of these recommendations by researchers and clinicians. To enhance clinical feasibility, we have developed both "ideal" and "minimum standard" protocols at 3T and 1.5T MR systems that will facilitate widespread adoption.

29. The Road to Attorney Well-Being: Past, Present, and Future

Abstract: In 2017, multiple nationwide studies on the well-being of lawyers and law students culminated in the release of a report from the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being. The Task Force Report highlighted distressing data indicating that lawyers suffer from depression, anxiety, and substance use at rates higher than the general population. It concluded that the legal profession was at a tipping point and presented recommendations and action plans for building a more positive future. Now, fast forward to 2021, a year after the COVID-19 pandemic began, shaking up every industry and impacting individuals across the globe. It will come as no surprise that five years after the seminal 2017 studies, the data on well-being in the legal profession has not changed much. In fact, a recent peer-reviewed study as well as an ABA study found that women lawyers are considering an exodus from the legal profession due to the pandemic as well due to mental health problems, burnout, or stress. Other recent studies have found higher rates of suicide and suicide ideation among attorneys; higher stress among attorneys of color on account of their race and ethnicity; and that stigma continues to pervade the profession with large numbers of lawyers that say they cannot discuss well-being issues with their employer without worrying it will damage their career or livelihoods. Despite this data, it is not all doom and gloom for the legal profession. The increased awareness of well-being in the legal profession has paved the way for rethinking how to make positive organizational and culture changes, and how to reduce stigma around seeking help and self-care.

Abstract: I spent most of the summer and fall of 2020 reading over a dozen books about racism, anti-racism, and mindfulness and racism. One of the most riveting, eye-opening, and ultimately most hopeful was Resmaa Menakem’s My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies. Menakem’s lens into the issue of racism is fascinating and worthy of serious reflection. Instead of seeing the lack of racial harmony as a failure of will or moral inadequacy, Menakem explains that racism cannot be eradicated until we deal with a vexing underlying problem; namely, recovery from the body’s held trauma.

Abstract: Writing disorders are frequent and impairing. However, social robots may help to improve children's motivation and to propose enjoyable and tailored activities. Here, we have used the Co-writer scenario in which a child is asked to teach a robot how to write via demonstration on a tablet, combined with a series of games we developed to train specifically pressure, tilt, speed, and letter liaison controls. This setup was proposed to a 10-year-old boy with a complex neurodevelopmental disorder combining phonological disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, and developmental coordination disorder with severe dysgraphia. Writing impairments were severe and limited his participation in classroom activities despite 2 years of specific support in school and professional speech and motor remediation. We implemented the setup during his occupational therapy for 20 consecutive weekly sessions. We found that his motivation was restored; avoidance behaviors disappeared both during sessions and at school; handwriting quality and posture improved dramatically. In conclusion, treating dysgraphia using child-robot interaction is feasible and improves writing. Larger clinical studies are required to confirm that children with dysgraphia could benefit from this setup.

Detailed imaging parameters facilitate the adoption of these recommendations by researchers and clinicians. To enhance clinical feasibility, we have developed both "ideal" and "minimum standard" protocols at 3T and 1.5T MR systems that will facilitate widespread adoption.

Abstract: In this review paper, several new approaches about the 3C-SiC growth are been presented. In fact, despite the long research activity on 3C-SiC, no devices with good electrical characteristics have been obtained due to the high defect density and high level of stress. To overcome these problems, two different approaches have been used in the last years. From one side, several compliance substrates have been used to try to reduce both the defects and stress, while from another side, the first bulk growth has been performed to try to improve the quality of this material with respect to the heteroepitaxial one. From all these studies, a new understanding of the material defects has been obtained, as well as regarding all the interactions between defects and several growth parameters. Abstract: Local breeds represent an underestimated resource in terms not only of their important cultural and economical role in marginal areas, but also because they often own a potential genetic pool well adapted to extreme conditions. This fact is of increasing interest, especially when considering climate global challenges where peculiar and uncommon traits could be advantageous. In this study, we genotyped 24 individuals belonging to the small residual Pagliarola sheep population using the OvineSNP50K array, in order to compare its genomic architecture with other 21 Italian local breeds. Moreover, we performed the fixation index (FST) outlier analysis to identify genes most differentiated between Pagliarola and Merino-derived Italian breeds. All population genetic analyses highlighted that Pagliarola breed represents a distinct genetic unit showing a genetic relationship with Merino-derived breeds underlying the close cultural connection between these breeds related to transhumance. However, Pagliarola breed resulted to be divided into two different sub-populations, named Pagliarola 1 (PAG-1) and Pagliarola 2 (PAG-2). Genetic diversity indices and inbreeding estimated from runs of homozygosity (FROH) indicated that while PAG-1 showed among the highest values, PAG-2 turned out strongly inbred, probably as a consequence of a founder effect. The FST outlier analysis identified the 5 most differentiated single nucleotide polymorphisms, two of which mapping within known genes (MACF1 and GLIS1) reported to be linked to feed efficiency and local adaption. All these information strongly suggest that proper conservation measures should be implemented in order to recover the Pagliarola population and its fundamental local products.HIGHLIGHTS All population genetic analyses highlighted that Pagliarola breed represent a distinct genetic unit, and clusters with the Merino-derived Italian breeds. Abstract: The Probe Of Extreme Multi-Messenger Astrophysics (POEMMA) is designed to accurately observe ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) and cosmic neutrinos from space with sensitivity over the full celestial sky. POEMMA will observe the air fluorescence produced by extensive air showers (EASs) from UHECRs and potentially UHE neutrinos above 20 EeV. Additionally, POEMMA has the ability to observe the Cherenkov signal from upward-moving EASs induced by Earth-interacting tau neutrinos above 20PeV. The POEMMA spacecraft are designed to quickly re-orientate to follow up transient neutrino sources and obtain currently unparalleled neutrino flux sensitivity. Developed as a NASA Astrophysics Probe-class mission, POEMMA consists of two identical satellites flying in loose formation in 525km altitude orbits. Each POEMMA instrument incorporates a wide fieldof-view (45 degrees) Schmidt telescope with an optical collecting area of over 6m(2). The hybrid focal surface of each telescope includes a fast (1 mu s) near-ultraviolet camera for EAS fluorescence observations and an ultrafast (10 ns) optical camera for Cherenkov EAS observations. In a 5=year mission, POEMMA will provide measurements that open new multi-messenger windows onto the most energetic events in the universe, enabling the study of new astrophysics and particle physics at these extreme energies.

Abstract: Programmable C•G-to-G•C base editors (CGBEs) have broad scientific and therapeutic potential, but their editing outcomes have proved difficult to predict and their editing efficiency and product purity are often low. We describe a suite of engineered CGBEs paired with machine learning models to enable efficient, high-purity C•G-to-G•C base editing. We performed a CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) screen targeting DNA repair genes to identify factors that affect C•G-to-G•C editing outcomes and used these insights to develop CGBEs with diverse editing profiles. We characterized ten promising CGBEs on a library of 10,638 genomically integrated target sites in mammalian cells and trained machine learning models that accurately predict the purity and yield of editing outcomes (R = 0.90) using these data. These CGBEs enable correction to the wild-type coding sequence of 546 disease-related transversion single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) with >90% precision (mean 96%) and up to 70% efficiency (mean 14%). Ideally, mass parallel production through Crowdsourcing could be an option for rapid acquisition in software engineering by leveraging infinite worker resource on the internet. It is important to understand the patterns and strategies of decomposing and uploading parallel tasks to maintain a stable worker supply as well as a satisfactory task completion rate. This research report is an empirical analysis of the available tasks' lifecycle patterns in crowdsourcing. Abstract: Spinal cord injury (SCI) causes permanent paralysis below the damaged area. SCI is linked to neuronal death, demyelination, and limited ability of neuronal fibers to regenerate. Regeneration capacity is limited by the presence of many inhibitory factors in the spinal cord environment. The use of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLG) bridges has demonstrated the ability to sustain long-term regeneration after SCI in a cervical hemisection mouse model. Critically, imaging of regenerating fibers and the myelination status of these neuronal filaments is a severe limitation to progress in SCI research. We used a transgenic mouse model that selectively expresses fluorescent reporters (eGFP) in the neuronal fibers of the spinal cord. We implanted a PLG bridge at C5 vertebra after hemisection and evaluated in live animals' neuronal fibers at the bridge interface and within the bridge 8 weeks postimplant. These in vivo observations were correlated with in situ evaluation 12 weeks postimplantation. We sectioned the spinal cords and performed fluorescent bioimaging on the sections to observe neuronal fibers going through the bridge. In parallel, to visualize myelination of regenerated axons, we exploited the characteristics of the third-harmonic generation arising from the myelin structure in these fixed sections.

Abstract: The cubic polytype of SiC (3C-SiC) is the only one that can be grown on silicon substrate with the thickness required for targeted applications. However, the crystalline quality of 3C-SiC on silicon has to be improved in order to benefit from the intrinsic 3C-SiC properties. In this project new approaches for the reduction of defects will be used and new compliance substrates that can help to reduce the stress and the defect density at the same time will be explored. Numerical simulations will be applied to optimize growth conditions and reduce stress in the material. The structure of the final devices will be simulated using the appropriated numerical tools where new numerical model will be introduced to take into account the properties of the new material. Thanks to these simulations tools and the new material with low defect density, several devices that can work at high power and with low power consumption will be realized within the project.

48. Feasibility study on mouse live imaging after spinal cord injury and poly(lactide-co-glycolide) bridge implantation.

Abstract: Spinal cord injury (SCI) causes permanent paralysis below the damaged area. SCI is linked to neuronal death, demyelination, and limited ability of neuronal fibers to regenerate. Regeneration capacity is limited by the presence of many inhibitory factors in the spinal cord environment. The use of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLG) bridges has demonstrated the ability to sustain long-term regeneration after SCI in a cervical hemisection mouse model. Critically, imaging of regenerating fibers and the myelination status of these neuronal filaments is a severe limitation to progress in SCI research. We used a transgenic mouse model that selectively expresses fluorescent reporters (eGFP) in the neuronal fibers of the spinal cord. We implanted a PLG bridge at C5 vertebra after hemisection and evaluated in live animals' neuronal fibers at the bridge interface and within the bridge 8 weeks postimplant. These in vivo observations were correlated with in situ evaluation 12 weeks postimplantation. We sectioned the spinal cords and performed fluorescent bioimaging on the sections to observe neuronal fibers going through the bridge. In parallel, to visualize myelination of regenerated axons, we exploited the characteristics of the third-harmonic generation arising from the myelin structure in these fixed sections.

Abstract: Nei capitoli precedenti abbiamo già trattato alcuni dei momenti fondamentali della tenuta della contabilità economico-patrimoniale; in particolare sono stati affrontati il momento dell’apertura delle rilevazioni in contabilità economico-patrimoniale e quello della rilevazione delle scritture continuative nel corso della gestione, collegate ai movimenti finanziari che si concretizzano durante il periodo amministrativo. Richiamato il concetto di competenza economica, l’obiettivo del capitolo è quello di illustrare gli ultimi due momenti tipici delle rilevazioni in contabilità economico-patrimoniale, ossia la rilevazione delle scritture di assestamento economico al termine dell’esercizio – necessarie alla determinazione del risultato d’esercizio – e la rilevazione delle scritture di chiusura dei conti economici e patrimoniali, necessarie per la predisposizione dei prospetti di bilancio previsti dall’allegato 10 al decreto legislativo n. 118/2011. Il capitolo tiene conto delle modifiche al principio contabile a seguito del D.M. 18 maggio 2017 per quanto riguarda le scritture di assestamento. Al fine di agevolare la lettura e la comprensibilità dei contenuti, i paragrafi alternano spiegazioni teoriche con esempi e soluzioni tecniche, facendo uso di registrazioni al libro giornale, che possono essere adottate nella pratica.
