Abstract: Seventeen years of hard X-ray observations with the instruments of the INTEGRAL observatory, with a focus on the Milky Way and in particular on the Galactic Centre region, have provided a unique database for exploration of the Galactic population of low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs). Our understanding of the diverse energetic phenomena associated with accretion of matter onto neutron stars and black holes has greatly improved. We review the large variety of INTEGRAL based results related to LMXBs. In particular, we discuss the spatial distribution of LMXBs over the Galaxy and their X-ray luminosity function as well as various physical phenomena associated with Atoll and Z sources, bursters, symbiotic X-ray binaries, ultracompact X-ray binaries and persistent black hole LMXBs. We also present an up-to-date catalogue of confirmed LMXBs detected by INTEGRAL, which comprises 166 objects. Last but not least, the long-term monitoring of the Galactic Centre with INTEGRAL has shed light on the activity of Sgr A* in the recent past, confirming previous indications that our supermassive black hole experienced a major accretion episode just ~100 years ago. Abstract: We present a class of dark matter models, in which the dark matter particle is a feebly interacting massive particle (FIMP) produced via the decay of an electrically charged and/or colored parent particle. Given the feeble interaction, dark matter is produced via the freeze-in mechanism and the parent particle is long-lived. The latter leads to interesting collider signatures. We study current LHC constrains on our models arising from searches for heavy charged particles, disappearing tracks, displaced leptons and displaced vertices. We demonstrate not only that collider searches can be a powerful probe of the freeze-in dark matter models under consideration, but that an observation can lead as well to interesting insights on the reheating temperature and thus on the validity of certain baryogenesis models., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures. 9. Simulation of timothy nutritive value: a comparison of three process-based models

Abstract: Different forage grass models are used to simulate forage yield and nutritive attributes, but these models are seldom compared, particularly those for timothy (Phleum pratense L.), a widely grown forage grass species in agricultural regions with a cold temperate climate. We compared the models BASGRA, CATIMO and STICS for their predictions of timothy crude protein (CP) concentration, neutral detergent fibre (NDF) concentration and NDF digestibility (dNDF), three important forage nutritive attributes. Data on CP and NDF concentrations, and dNDF and the associated weather and soil data for seven cultivars, taken from eight field experiments in Canada, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, were divided into calibration and validation datasets. Model parameters were estimated for each cultivar separately (cultivar-specific calibration) and for all cultivars together (generic calibration), using different methods for the three models. Normalized root mean square error (RMSE) in prediction of CP concentration varied between 16 and 26% for BASGRA, 45 and 101% for CATIMO and 23 and 40% for STICS across the two calibration methods and the calibration and validation datasets. Normalised RMSE in prediction of NDF concentration varied between 8 and 13% for BASGRA, 14 and 21% for CATIMO and 8 and 12% for STICS, while for dNDF it varied between 7 and 22% for BASGRA, 7 and 38% for CATIMO and 5 and 6% for STICS. Cultivar-specific calibration improved the performance of CATIMO and STICS, but not BASGRA, compared with generic calibration. The prediction accuracy for NDF concentration and dNDF with the three models was within the same range or better than that for forage dry matter (DM) yield of timothy. Overall, the three models performed well in predicting some nutritive attributes and yield in Northern Europe and Canada, but improvements are required, particularly to increase the prediction accuracy of CP concentration.

Model parameters were estimated for each cultivar separately (cultivar-specific calibration) and for all cultivars together (generic calibration), using different methods for the three models. Normalized root mean square error (RMSE) in prediction of CP concentration varied between 16 and 26% for BASGRA, 45 and 101% for CATIMO and 23 and 40% for STICS across the two calibration methods and the calibration and validation datasets. Normalised RMSE in prediction of NDF concentration varied between 8 and 13% for BASGRA, 14 and 21% for CATIMO and 8 and 12% for STICS, while for dNDF it varied between 7 and 22% for BASGRA, 7 and 38% for CATIMO and 5 and 6% for STICS. Cultivar-specific calibration improved the performance of CATIMO and STICS, but not BASGRA, compared with generic calibration. The prediction accuracy for NDF concentration and dNDF with the three models was within the same range or better than that for forage dry matter (DM) yield of timothy. Overall, the three models performed well in predicting some nutritive attributes and yield in Northern Europe and Canada, but improvements are required, particularly to increase the prediction accuracy of CP concentration.

We assess the current constraints and future high luminosity reach of these scenarios at the LHC from searches for heavy stable charged particles, disappearing tracks, displaced vertices and displaced leptons. We show that the LHC constitutes a powerful probe of freeze-in dark matter and can further provide interesting insights on the validity of vanilla baryogenesis and leptogenesis scenarios.

The present work is the sequel to the study we performed on the renor- malisation of the sectors of the NMSSM comprising neutralinos, charginos and sfermions thereby completing the full one-loop renormalisation of the NMSSM. We have investi- gated several renormalisation schemes based on alternative choices (on-shell or DR) of the physical parameters. Special attention is paid to the issue of the mixing between physical fields. To weigh the impact of the different renormalisation schemes, the partial widths for the decays of the Higgs bosons into supersymmetric particles are computed at one-loop. In many decays large differences between the schemes are found. We discuss the origin of these differences. In particular we study two contrasting scenarios. The first model is MSSM-like with a small value for the mixing between the doublet and sin- glet Higgs superfields while the second model has a moderate value for this mixing. We critically discuss the issue of the reconstruction of the underlying parameters and their counterterms in the case of a theory with a large number of parameters, such as the NMSSM, from a set of physical parameters. Abstract: The production of a Standard Model Higgs boson in association with two hard jets in the forward and backward regions of the detector, frequently quoted as the “vector-boson fusion” (VBF) channel, and the production of a Higgs boson in association with a W or Z boson, known as “VH production” or “Higgsstrahlung”, represent cornerstones in a comprehensive study of Higgs boson couplings at the LHC. These production channels do not only provide valuable information on the couplings of Higgs bosons to the massive gauge bosons by themselves, but also allow for the isolation of the Higgs boson decays into -lepton or bottom-quark pairs, whose investigation is essential in the Higgs boson couplings analysis. In the previous reports [7–9], state-of-the-art predictions and error estimates for the total and differential cross sections for pp ! H + 2 jets and pp ! HV ! H + 2 leptons were compiled (with V = W; Z), but the process of improving and refining predictions is still ongoing, even within the Standard Model. In this contribution we update the cross-section predictions for VBF and VH production, covering integrated total and fiducial cross sections as well as differential distributions. In detail, the presented state-of-the-art predictions include QCD corrections up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO), electroweak (EW) corrections up to next-to-leading order (NLO), and contributions from specific partonic channels that open at higher perturbative orders, such as photon-induced collisions or gluon-fusion contributions. Apart from collecting numerical results, we give recommendations as to how to combine the individual components and to assess conservative estimates of remaining theoretical uncertainties. Moreover, issues connected to the matching and the impact of parton showers (PS) are discussed.

20. One-loop renormalisation of the NMSSM in SloopS 2: the Higgs sector

Abstract: We present a full one-loop renormalisation of the Higgs sector of the Next-to-Minimal- Supersymmetric-Standard-Model (NMSSM) and its implementation within SloopS, a code for the automated computations of one-loop processes in theories beyond the Stan- dard Model. The present work is the sequel to the study we performed on the renor- malisation of the sectors of the NMSSM comprising neutralinos, charginos and sfermions thereby completing the full one-loop renormalisation of the NMSSM. We have investi- gated several renormalisation schemes based on alternative choices (on-shell or DR) of the physical parameters. Special attention is paid to the issue of the mixing between physical fields. To weigh the impact of the different renormalisation schemes, the partial widths for the decays of the Higgs bosons into supersymmetric particles are computed at one-loop. In many decays large differences between the schemes are found. We discuss the origin of these differences. In particular we study two contrasting scenarios. The first model is MSSM-like with a small value for the mixing between the doublet and sin- glet Higgs superfields while the second model has a moderate value for this mixing. We critically discuss the issue of the reconstruction of the underlying parameters and their counterterms in the case of a theory with a large number of parameters, such as the NMSSM, from a set of physical parameters. These production channels do not only provide valuable information on the couplings of Higgs bosons to the massive gauge bosons by themselves, but also allow for the isolation of the Higgs boson decays into -lepton or bottom-quark pairs, whose investigation is essential in the Higgs boson couplings analysis. In the previous reports [7–9], state-of-the-art predictions and error estimates for the total and differential cross sections for pp ! H + 2 jets and pp ! HV ! H + 2 leptons were compiled (with V = W; Z), but the process of improving and refining predictions is still ongoing, even within the Standard Model. In this contribution we update the cross-section predictions for VBF and VH production, covering integrated total and fiducial cross sections as well as differential distributions. In detail, the presented state-of-the-art predictions include QCD corrections up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO), electroweak (EW) corrections up to next-to-leading order (NLO), and contributions from specific partonic channels that open at higher perturbative orders, such as photon-induced collisions or gluon-fusion contributions. Apart from collecting numerical results, we give recommendations as to how to combine the individual components and to assess conservative estimates of remaining theoretical uncertainties. Moreover, issues connected to the matching and the impact of parton showers (PS) are discussed.

Abstract: This Report summarizes the results of the activities of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group in the period 2014-2016. The main goal of the working group was to present the state-of-the-art of Higgs physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. This report follows three previous working-group reports: Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002), Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. Differential Distributions (CERN-2012-002), and Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 3. Higgs properties (CERN-2013-004). Abstract: This Report summarizes the results of the activities of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group in the period 2014-2016. The main goal of the working group was to present the state-of-the-art of Higgs physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. This report follows three previous working-group reports: Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002), Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. Differential Distributions (CERN-2012-002), and Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 3. Higgs properties (CERN-2013-004). Abstract: This Report summarizes the results of the activities of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group in the period 2014-2016. The main goal of the working group was to present the state-of-the-art of Higgs physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. This report follows three previous working-group reports: Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002), Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. Differential Distributions (CERN-2012-002), and Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 3. Higgs properties (CERN-2013-004). In light of the new constraints from LHC Run-1 on the Higgs couplings, sparticles searches and flavour observables, we define the parameter space of the model which is compatible with both collider and dark matter (DM) properties. Among the regions compatible with these constraints, implemented through NMSSMTools, SModelS and MadAnalysis 5, only one with a singlino lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) with a mass around 5 GeV can explain all the DM abundance of the universe, while heavier mixed singlinos can only form one of the DM components. Typical collider signatures for each region of the parameter space are investigated. In particular, the decay of the 125 GeV Higgs into light scalars and/or pseudoscalars and the decay of the heavy Higgs into charginos and neutralinos, provide distinctive signatures of the model. Moreover, the sfermion decays usually proceed through heavier neutralinos rather than directly into the LSP, as the couplings to the singlino are suppressed. We also show that direct detection searches are complementary to collider ones, and that a future ton-scale detector could completely probe the region of parameter space with a LSP mass around 65 GeV., Comment: 33 pages, 9 figures. 37. Impact of semi-annihilations on dark matter phenomenology - an example of Z_N symmetric scalar dark matter

Abstract: We study the impact of semi-annihilations x_i x_j <-> x_k X, where x_i is any dark matter and X is any standard model particle, on dark matter phenomenology. We formulate minimal scalar dark matter models with an extra doublet and a complex singlet that predict non-trivial dark matter phenomenology with semi-annihilation processes for different discrete Abelian symmetries Z_N, N>2. We implement two such example models with Z_3 and Z_4 symmetry in micrOMEGAs and work out their phenomenology. We show that both semi-annihilations and annihilations involving only particles from two different dark matter sectors significantly modify the dark matter relic abundance in this type of models. Abstract: We investigate the capability of directional detectors to probe neutralino dark matter in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with parameters defined at the weak scale. We show that directional detectors such as the future MIMAC detector will probe spin dependent dark matter scattering on nucleons that are beyond the reach of current spin independent detectors. The complementarity between indirect searches, in particular using gamma rays from dwarf spheroidal galaxies, spin dependent and spin independent direct search techniques is emphasized. We comment on the impact of the negative results on squark searches at the LHC. Finally, we investigate how the fundamental parameters of the models can be constrained in the event of a dark matter signal., Comment: 21 pages, 16 figures

41. Impact of semi-annihilations on dark matter phenomenology - an example of Z_N symmetric scalar dark matter

Abstract: We study the impact of semi-annihilations x_i x_j <-> x_k X, where x_i is any dark matter and X is any standard model particle, on dark matter phenomenology. We formulate minimal scalar dark matter models with an extra doublet and a complex singlet that predict non-trivial dark matter phenomenology with semi-annihilation processes for different discrete Abelian symmetries Z_N, N>2. We implement two such example models with Z_3 and Z_4 symmetry in micrOMEGAs and work out their phenomenology. We show that both semi-annihilations and annihilations involving only particles from two different dark matter sectors significantly modify the dark matter relic abundance in this type of models. We also study the possibility of dark matter direct detection in XENON100 in those models., Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures

Abstract: We investigate the capability of directional detectors to probe neutralino dark matter in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with parameters defined at the weak scale. We show that directional detectors such as the future MIMAC detector will probe spin dependent dark matter scattering on nucleons that are beyond the reach of current spin independent detectors. The complementarity between indirect searches, in particular using gamma rays from dwarf spheroidal galaxies, spin dependent and spin independent direct search techniques is emphasized. We comment on the impact of the negative results on squark searches at the LHC. Finally, we investigate how the fundamental parameters of the models can be constrained in the event of a dark matter signal., Comment: 21 pages, 16 figures

Abstract: The minimal model of Universal Extra Dimensions (MUED) is briefly reviewed. We explain how the cross-sections for Higgs production via gluon fusion and decay into two photons are modified, relative the the Standard Model (SM) values, by KK particles running in loops, leading to an enhancement of the gg to h to two photons and gg to h to W+W- cross-sections. ATLAS and CMS searches for the SM Higgs in these channels are reinterpreted in the context of MUED and used to place new limits on the MUED parameter space. Only a small region of between 1 and 3 GeV around mh = 125 GeV for 500 GeV < 1/R < 1600 GeV remains open at the 95 % confidence level., Comment: Presented at the 2011 Hadron Collider Physics symposium (HCP-2011), Paris, France, November 14-18 2011, 3 pages, 4 figures

Abstract: We investigate the capability of directional detectors to probe neutralino dark matter in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with parameters defined at the weak scale. We show that directional detectors such as the future MIMAC detector will probe spin dependent dark matter scattering on nucleons that are beyond the reach of current spin independent detectors. The complementarity between indirect searches, in particular using gamma rays from dwarf spheroidal galaxies, spin dependent and spin independent direct search techniques is emphasized. We comment on the impact of the negative results on squark searches at the LHC. Finally, we investigate how the fundamental parameters of the models can be constrained in the event of a dark matter signal., Comment: 21 pages, 16 figures

Abstract: The minimal model of Universal Extra Dimensions (MUED) is briefly reviewed. We explain how the cross-sections for Higgs production via gluon fusion and decay into two photons are modified, relative the the Standard Model (SM) values, by KK particles running in loops, leading to an enhancement of the gg to h to two photons and gg to h to W+W- cross-sections. ATLAS and CMS searches for the SM Higgs in these channels are reinterpreted in the context of MUED and used to place new limits on the MUED parameter space. Only a small region of between 1 and 3 GeV around mh = 125 GeV for 500 GeV < 1/R < 1600 GeV remains open at the 95 % confidence level., Comment: Presented at the 2011 Hadron Collider Physics symposium (HCP-2011), Paris, France, November 14-18 2011, 3 pages, 4 figures

50. Impact of semi-annihilations on dark matter phenomenology - an example of Z_N symmetric scalar dark matter

Abstract: We study the impact of semi-annihilations x_i x_j <-> x_k X, where x_i is any dark matter and X is any standard model particle, on dark matter phenomenology. We formulate minimal scalar dark matter models with an extra doublet and a complex singlet that predict non-trivial dark matter phenomenology with semi-annihilation processes for different discrete Abelian symmetries Z_N, N>2. We implement two such example models with Z_3 and Z_4 symmetry in micrOMEGAs and work out their phenomenology. We show that both semi-annihilations and annihilations involving only particles from two different dark matter sectors significantly modify the dark matter relic abundance in this type of models. We also study the possibility of dark matter direct detection in XENON100 in those models., Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures
