Disorders of consciousness are neurological conditions characterized by impaired arousal and awareness of self and environment. Behavioural responses are absent or are present but fluctuate. Disorders of consciousness are commonly encountered as a consequence of both acute and chronic brain injuries, yet reliable epidemiological estimates would require inclusive, operational definitions of the concept, as well as wider knowledge dissemination among involved professionals. Whereas several manifestations have been described, including coma, vegetative state/unresponsive wakefulness syndrome and minimally conscious state, a comprehensive neurobiological definition for disorders of consciousness is still lacking. The scientific literature is primarily observational, and studies-specific aetiologies lead to disorders of consciousness. Despite advances in these disease-related forms, there remains uncertainty about whether disorders of consciousness are a disease-agnostic unitary entity with a common mechanism, prognosis or treatment response paradigm. Our knowledge of disorders of consciousness has also been hampered by heterogeneity of study designs, variables, and outcomes, leading to results that are not comparable for evidence synthesis. The different backgrounds of professionals caring for patients with disorders of consciousness and the different goals at different stages of care could partly explain this variability. The Prospective Studies working group of the Neurocritical Care Society Curing Coma Campaign was established to create a platform for observational studies and future clinical trials on disorders of consciousness and coma across the continuum of care. In this narrative review, the author panel presents limitations of prior observational clinical research and outlines practical considerations for future investigations. Background: Gartisertib is an oral inhibitor of ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related protein (ATR), a key kinase of the DNA damage response. We aimed to determine the safety and tolerability of gartisertib ± carboplatin in patients with advanced solid tumours. Methods: This phase I open-label, multicenter, first-in-human study comprised four gartisertib cohorts: A (dose escalation [DE]; Q2W); A2 (DE; QD/BID); B1 (DE+carboplatin); and C (biomarker-selected patients)Results:Overall, 97 patients were enroled into cohorts A (n = 42), A2 (n = 26), B1 (n = 16) and C (n = 13). The maximum tolerated dose and recommended phase II dose (RP2D) were not declared for cohorts A or B1. In cohort A2, the RP2D for gartisertib was determined as 250 mg QD. Gartisertib was generally well-tolerated; however, unexpected increased blood bilirubin in all study cohorts precluded further DE. Investigations showed that gartisertib and its metabolite M26 inhibit UGT1A1-mediated bilirubin glucuronidation in human but not dog or rat liver microsomes. Prolonged partial response (n = 1 [cohort B1]) and stable disease >6 months (n = 3) did not appear to be associated with biomarker status. Exposure generally increased dose-dependently without accumulation. Conclusion: Gartisertib was generally well-tolerated at lower doses; however, unexpected liver toxicity prevented further DE, potentially limiting antitumour activity. Detta examensarbete handlar om hur pojkars gymnasieval påverkas av heteronormativiteten och hur yrkesverksamma vägledare ser på problemet. Stereotypa tankar, strukturer och åsikter påverkar pojkars gymnasieval negativt. Syftet med arbetet är att de samband som finns mellan pojkars (i åldern 15-20 år) gymnasieval och heteronormativitet ska synliggöras. Metoden som användes för att belysa detta område var en kvantitativ metod i form av en enkät där respondenterna utgjordes av yrkesverksamma studie- och yrkesvägledare. Den kvantitativa datan analyserades sedan genom en kvalitativ metod i form av tematisk analys där de mest centrala temana var könsstereotypiska val, inkomst samt dålig förmåga till självreflektion. Svaren i enkäten bekräftade att könsnormer, maskulinitet och könsstereotyper har en inverkan i pojkars gymnasieval. Respondenternas svar visar att skollagen, diskrimineringslagen samt styrdokument från Skolverket och Jämställdhetsmyndigheten om hur man ska skapa en likvärdig skola inte följs. Detta är något som även den tidigare forskning visar. De tre mest framstående fynden; heteronormativitetens påverkan, saknad av tid och resurser samt skolans bristande ansvar diskuteras. Vidare forskning kan beröra psykisk hälsa kopplat till heteronormativitetens påverkan, att intervjua yrkesverksamma som genomfört normbrytande val samt att undersöka hur universitets- och högskolestudenter ser på detta samband.

This study is examining the Swedish military attachés reports from Washington regarding the Vietnam War. The focus is to find out if there are any lessons learned by the US military, and then also if these lessons learned are applicable for the Swedish military according to the rapports of the military attachés. This with the help of Tom Dyson’s theory about the lessons learned process in modern militaries. Where the process is turned into four steps, knowledge acquisition, management, dissemination and finally transformation. These four steps are also influenced by four factors, organizational theory, bureaucratic politics, culture, and neoclassical realism. The method used is qualitative text analysis with a hermeneutic viewpoint, where the focus it to interpret the rapports. The study shows that there are several rapports from the attachés regarding the Vietnam War, where rapports range from political problems in the US to the use of hovercraft on the rivers of Vietnam. The study further shows several instances where the US tactics in Vietnam have changed following the lessons learned theory four steps. The study shows that several of these lessons learned by the US in Vietnam were also interesting for the attachés for their applicability in the Swedish military. Lastly it showed that several of the theories factor might have played a part in how the rapports were presented from the attachés to the Swedish intelligence center.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: The ConcePTION project aims to improve the way medication use during pregnancy is studied. This includes exploring the possibility of developing a distributed data processing and analysis infrastructure using a common data model that could form a foundational platform for future surveillance and research. A prerequisite would be that data from various data access providers (DAPs) can be harmonised according to an agreed set of standard rules concerning the structure and content of the data. To do so, a reference framework of core data elements (CDEs) recommended for primary data studies on drug safety during pregnancy was previously developed. The aim of this study was to assess the ability of several public and private DAPs using different primary data sources focusing on multiple sclerosis, as a pilot, to map their respective data variables and definitions with the CDE recommendations framework. METHODS: Four pregnancy registries (Gilenya, Novartis; Aubagio, Sanofi; the Organization of Teratology Information Specialists [OTIS]; Aubagio, Sanofi; the Dutch Pregnancy Drug Register, Lareb), two enhanced pharmacovigilance programmes (Gilenya PRIM, Novartis; MAPLE-MS, Merck Healthcare KGaA) and four Teratology Information Services (UK TIS, Jerusalem TIS, Zerifin TIS, Swiss TIS) participated in the study. The ConcePTION primary data source CDE includes 51 items covering administrative functions, the description of pregnancy, maternal medical history, maternal illnesses arising in pregnancy, delivery details, and pregnancy and infant outcomes. For each variable in the CDE, the DAPs identified whether their variables were: identical to the one mentioned in the CDE; derived; similar but with a divergent definition; or not available. The purpose is to exemplify how the didactic model of organizing purposes can be used by teachers to support the development of chemistry education aimed at increasing students ́ action competence in waste management issues. We conducted didactic modeling with the exemplification phase as the research approach. To exemplify how the organizing purposes model provided support in didactic design and analysis, we created a teaching sequence of two lessons and implemented it in a class. The goal was to create progression between activities that would lead to students developing competence in action. Data collection was carried out through video recordings during these two teaching sessions, which were then transcribed and analyzed. During the analysis, we used the conceptual framework of organizing purposes: proximal purposes, overarching purposes, goals-in-view, and continuity. The exemplification shows that the model supported us in selecting activities to create a thoughtful progression. It also supported us in considering how to connect what students did with our overarching goal.

During a blood meal, female Anopheles mosquitoes inject saliva that can elicit a host antibody response, which can serve as a proxy for exposure to Plasmodium infection. Previous studies have shown that the peptide gSG6-P1 of An. gambiae saliva is antigenic and highly Anopheles specific. Here, we used plasma samples from 201 Ghanaian children with wild-type hemoglobin (HbAA), HbAS, and HbAC to evaluate antibody levels against gSG6-P1 as a serological biomarker of Anopheles exposure and, therefore of P. falciparum infection risk. Malaria antigen (PfCSP, GLURP, Pfs230, and HB3VAR06)-specific IgG levels, demographic data, and data regarding P. falciparum infection and malaria control practices were also analyzed. Children with active P. falciparum infection had higher antibody levels against all antigens, and those with HbAS and HbAC had significantly higher antibody levels against Pfs230. Pfs230-specific IgG correlated negatively with gSG6-P1-specific IgG in children with HbAC. Our results highlight the importance of studying the role of hemoglobinopathies in malaria transmission to improve control interventions.

The center was founded in 2022 by a group of activists, workers and researchers, involved in various ways in the struggles around the gig economy in Berlin, mainly targeting Gorillas and other delivery platforms. Since then, the group has managed to use the office of Gorillas’ work council to offer counseling, organizing tools and a space for socializing to precarious migrant workers. The article describes the founding process and the current situation of the Worker Center Berlin. It addresses both the strengths and the challenges of the initiative.

We demonstrate that long-ranged terrestrial electric fields can be used to exclude or discover ultralight bosonic particles with extremely small charge, beyond that probed by astrophysics. Bound condensates of scalar millicharged particles can be rapidly produced near electrostatic generators or in the atmosphere. If such particles directly couple to the photon, they quickly short out such electrical activity. Instead, for interactions mediated by a kinetically-mixed dark photon, the effects of this condensate are suppressed depending on the size of the kinetic mixing, but may still be directly detected with precision electromagnetic sensors. End-to-end automatic speech recognition (E2E ASR) systems often suffer from mistranscription of domain-specific phrases, such as named entities, sometimes leading to catastrophic failures in downstream tasks. A family of fast and lightweight named entity correction (NEC) models for ASR have recently been proposed, which normally build on phonetic-level edit distance algorithms and have shown impressive NEC performance. However, as the named entity (NE) list grows, the problems of phonetic confusion in the NE list are exacerbated; for example, homophone ambiguities increase substantially. In view of this, we proposed a novel Description Augmented Named entity CorrEctoR (dubbed DANCER), which leverages entity descriptions to provide additional information to facilitate mitigation of phonetic confusion for NEC on ASR transcription. To this end, an efficient entity description augmented masked language model (EDA-MLM) comprised of a dense retrieval model is introduced, enabling MLM to adapt swiftly to domain-specific entities for the NEC task. A series of experiments conducted on the AISHELL-1 and Homophone datasets confirm the effectiveness of our modeling approach. DANCER outperforms a strong baseline, the phonetic edit-distance-based NEC model (PED-NEC), by a character error rate (CER) reduction of about 7% relatively on AISHELL-1 for named entities. More notably, when tested on Homophone that contain named entities of high phonetic confusion, DANCER offers a more pronounced CER reduction of 46% relatively over PED-NEC for named entities., Comment: Accepted by LREC-COLING 2024

End-to-End Neural Diarization with Encoder-Decoder based Attractor (EEND-EDA) is an end-to-end neural model for automatic speaker segmentation and labeling. It achieves the capability to handle flexible number of speakers by estimating the number of attractors. EEND-EDA, however, struggles to accurately capture local speaker dynamics. This work proposes an auxiliary loss that aims to guide the Transformer encoders at the lower layer of EEND-EDA model to enhance the effect of self-attention modules using speaker activity information. The results evaluated on public dataset Mini LibriSpeech, demonstrates the effectiveness of the work, reducing Diarization Error Rate from 30.95% to 28.17%. This study introduces a reformed Sinc-convolution (Sincconv) framework tailored for the encoder component of deep networks for speech enhancement (SE). The reformed Sincconv, based on parametrized sinc functions as band-pass filters, offers notable advantages in terms of training efficiency, filter diversity, and interpretability. The reformed Sinc-conv is evaluated in conjunction with various SE models, showcasing its ability to boost SE performance. Furthermore, the reformed Sincconv provides valuable insights into the specific frequency components that are prioritized in an SE scenario. This opens up a new direction of SE research and improving our knowledge of their operating dynamics.

Speech separation has recently made significant progress thanks to the fine-grained vision used in time-domain methods. However, several studies have shown that adopting Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) for feature extraction could be beneficial when encountering harsher conditions, such as noise or reverberation. Therefore, we propose a magnitude-conditioned time-domain framework, ConSep, to inherit the beneficial characteristics. The experiment shows that ConSep promotes performance in anechoic, noisy, and reverberant settings compared to two celebrated methods, SepFormer and Bi-Sep. Furthermore, we visualize the components of ConSep to strengthen the advantages and cohere with the actualities we have found in preliminary studies.

With the massive developments of end-to-end (E2E) neural networks, recent years have witnessed unprecedented breakthroughs in automatic speech recognition (ASR). However, the codeswitching phenomenon remains a major obstacle that hinders ASR from perfection, as the lack of labeled data and the variations between languages often lead to degradation of ASR performance. In this paper, we focus exclusively on improving the acoustic encoder of E2E ASR to tackle the challenge caused by the codeswitching phenomenon. Our main contributions are threefold: First, we introduce a novel disentanglement loss to enable the lower-layer of the encoder to capture inter-lingual acoustic information while mitigating linguistic confusion at the higher-layer of the encoder. Second, through comprehensive experiments, we verify that our proposed method outperforms the prior-art methods using pretrained dual-encoders, meanwhile having access only to the codeswitching corpus and consuming half of the parameterization. Third, the apparent differentiation of the encoders' output features also corroborates the complementarity between the disentanglement loss and the mixture-of-experts (MoE) architecture., Comment: ICASSP 2024

Automatic pronunciation assessment (APA) manages to evaluate the pronunciation proficiency of a second language (L2) learner in a target language. Existing efforts typically draw on regression models for proficiency score prediction, where the models are trained to estimate target values without explicitly accounting for phoneme-awareness in the feature space. In this paper, we propose a contrastive phonemic ordinal regularizer (ConPCO) tailored for regression-based APA models to generate more phoneme-discriminative features while considering the ordinal relationships among the regression targets. The proposed ConPCO first aligns the phoneme representations of an APA model and textual embeddings of phonetic transcriptions via contrastive learning. Afterward, the phoneme characteristics are retained by regulating the distances between inter- and intra-phoneme categories in the feature space while allowing for the ordinal relationships among the output targets. We further design and develop a hierarchical APA model to evaluate the effectiveness of our method. Automated speaking assessment (ASA) typically involves automatic speech recognition (ASR) and hand-crafted feature extraction from the ASR transcript of a learner's speech. Recently, self-supervised learning (SSL) has shown stellar performance compared to traditional methods. However, SSL-based ASA systems are faced with at least three data-related challenges: limited annotated data, uneven distribution of learner proficiency levels and non-uniform score intervals between different CEFR proficiency levels. To address these challenges, we explore the use of two novel modeling strategies: metric-based classification and loss reweighting, leveraging distinct SSL-based embedding features. Extensive experimental results on the ICNALE benchmark dataset suggest that our approach can outperform existing strong baselines by a sizable margin, achieving a significant improvement of more than 10% in CEFR prediction accuracy., Comment: Accepted to NAACL 2024 Findings

Der gemeinsame Forschungsbericht des Instituts für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung (IAB), des Bundesinstituts für Bevölkerungsforschung (BiB), des Forschungszentrums des Bundesamtes für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF-FZ) und des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (SOEP) am DIW Berlin stellt vertieft zentrale Befunde aus der gemeinsamen Studie "Geflüchtete aus der Ukraine in Deutschland" vor. Im Fokus der bundesweiten Studie stehen das Ankommen, die aktuellen Lebensumstände sowie Zukunftspläne der ukrainischen Geflüchteten in Deutschland. Die Analysen basieren auf rund 11.700 Interviews mit ukrainischen Männern und Frauen, die im Zeitraum vom 24. Februar bis zum 8. Juni 2022 nach Deutschland gekommen sind. Die Interviews wurden deutschlandweit auf Basis standardisierter Fragebögen online (CAWI) oder per Papierfragebogen (PAPI) im Zeitraum von August bis Oktober 2022 durchgeführt. Im Zuge der Stichprobenziehung wurden zunächst anhand des Ausländerzentralregisters (AZR) 100 Gemeinden mit einem hohen Anteil von ukrainischen Geflüchteten ausgewählt. Die ausgewählten Gemeinden wurden dann gebeten, Adressen dieser Zielpopulation zur Verfügung zu stellen. Durch Verwendung von Gewichten ist die Stichprobe repräsentativ für diese Grundgesamtheit. Die Studie ist als Längsschnittbefragung geplant, im Frühjahr 2023 wird eine zweite Befragungswelle durchgeführt. Erste zentrale Befunde aus der ersten Welle wurden bereits im Dezember 2022 im Rahmen einer Kurzanalyse veröffentlicht.

The reduction of weekly working hours can lead to more gender equality on household level. In mixed-sex, two-adult households, the working hours of each household member have a significant effect on gender equality relevant variables. This was elaborated with a cross-sectional analysis of 2019 German Socio-Economic Panel data using OLS regressions with instrumental variables. Working hours have a strong negative effect on one's own household- and care time. Men or women having a reduced full-time work contract (32-36 hours per week stipulated in the work contract) creates more symmetry of paid- and unpaid work per sex. A partner's work time has a significantly negative effect on an individual's work time but a woman's work time is more influenced by her male partner's working hours than the other way around. The thesis finds evidence that if a man has a reduced full-time work contract, this encourages women to work more paid hours per week; for men it is the other way around. The effect of a partner's working time on an individual’s labor force participation is in all cases very small but significantly negative. The partner working under a reduced full-time work contract creates opposite results for men and women: It increases women's likelihood to participate in the labor market whereas it decreases men's probability to participate in the labor market.

The paper aims to provide a theoretical framework for studying actorness of regional organizations created by authoritarian countries. It serves as a conceptual foundation for a DFG project co-led by the authors in 2021-2023 and focusing on studying the behavior and the functioning of Eurasian regional organizations. While the literature traditionally assumes that authoritarianism and actorness of regional organizations are incompatible, we take a more nuanced perspective on this question. The paper discusses possible determinants for the emergence of actorness, in particular in the post-Soviet Eurasia. It also introduces the concept of back-door actorness, which could be particularly relevant in the authoritarian context.

The paper contains reflections of Ruslan Grinberg, a prominent Russian economist and social scientist, dedicated to the death of Mikhail Gorbachev. Grinberg serves as an advisor to Gorbachev during the Perestroika era and had close contact with him throughout the last three decades. In the essay, he reflects upon the key elements of Gorbachev's legacy and their importance for the contemporary world.

We study the endowment effect and expectation-based reference points in the field leveraging the setup of the Socio-Economic Panel. Households receive a small item for taking part in the panel, and we randomly assign respondents either a towel or a notebook, which they can exchange at the end of the interview. We observe a trading rate of 32 percent, consistent with an endowment effect, but no relationship with loss aversion. Manipulating expectations of the exchange opportunity, we find no support for expectation-based reference points. However, trading predicts residential mobility and is related to stock-market participation, i.e., economic decisions that entail parting with existing resources.

Do autocracies cooperate internationally? This working paper investigates whether regime-type explains co-sponsorship patterns at the United Nations General Assembly. Co-sponsorship is a relatively costly signal of international cooperation at the UN, which is analyzed based on a novel dataset, including newly validated issue categories and co-sponsorship behavior on 14.995 draft resolutions. Theoretically, the paper unifies three strands of literature: the recent literature on autocratic regional organizations, the growing literature on foreign policy of autocratic regimes and the traditional analysis of the United Nations. The results suggest that regime-type plays a strong role in co-sponsorship behavior: democracies co-sponsor with their peers, whereas autocracies, in line with existing findings, cooperate overall less at the UN. They do, however, prefer to co-sponsor with one another over partners of other regime-types. This seems to be particularly true in issue areas where autocratic regimes could attempt to counter democratic norm-setting, such as human rights. There is mixed results concerning the effect of autocratic regional organizations on autocratic co-sponsorship. Preliminary results suggest at least some positive effect on autocracies and highlight the need for further research.

High energy collisions at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (LHC) produce a large number of particles along the beam collision axis, outside of the acceptance of existing LHC experiments. The proposed Forward Physics Facility (FPF), to be located several hundred meters from the ATLAS interaction point and shielded by concrete and rock, will host a suite of experiments to probe standard model (SM) processes and search for physics beyond the standard model (BSM). In this report, we review the status of the civil engineering plans and the experiments to explore the diverse physics signals that can be uniquely probed in the forward region. FPF experiments will be sensitive to a broad range of BSM physics through searches for new particle scattering or decay signatures and deviations from SM expectations in high statistics analyses with TeV neutrinos in this low-background environment. High statistics neutrino detection will also provide valuable data for fundamental topics in perturbative and non-perturbative QCD and in weak interactions. Experiments at the FPF will enable synergies between forward particle production at the LHC and astroparticle physics to be exploited. We report here on these physics topics, on infrastructure, detector, and simulation studies, and on future directions to realize the FPF's physics potential.

Understanding the emotions experienced by higher education instructors related to assessment feedback, how instructors understand student emotions, and how instructors might manage these emotions positively, can help to secure the educational benefits of feedback. In this research, we aimed to explore the emotional responses that instructors experienced through the giving and receiving of assessment feedback. We undertook qualitative data collection, carrying out individual semi-structured interviews with instructors from three universities who had administered a dialogic feed-forward intervention on one of their teaching units. The full interview transcripts were analysed inductively using thematic analysis. Five main themes emerged from the interview data: 1. Summative written feedback aroused largely negative emotions in instructors because they felt distanced from their students; 2. Instructors experienced a broad range of emotions related to dialogic feed-forward emerging from their proximity to students; 3. Dialogic feed-forward, as an affective encounter, was emotionally challenging for instructors; 4. Dialogic feed-forward built strong learning relationships between students and instructors, strengthening students’ sense of belonging; 5. Dialogic feed-forward was transformational for instructors as educators. We consider the implications of our findings for instructor and wider assessment and feedback practices, including emotional labour, promotional reward, and instructor professional development.

Around 1970 artists grew increasingly critical of the idea of the studio, the role it played in their quotidian life as well as its ideological and economic functions. They often abandoned their studios and developed new modes of practice. Instead of autonomous works that could circulate on the art market, they began producing site-specific artworks on location and in response to the concrete parameters of each individual exhibition – thereby opposing and critiquing the art market. Or so the canonical narrative goes. In recent years, however, the common practice of artists’ traveling across the globe from one gig to the next or outsourcing production to contractors and fabricators has taken on different valences. Not only has this mode of art production proven perfectly compatible with more traditional forms such as painting, but it also appears to fit rather neatly into a broader neoliberalization of the art system. Such observations have prompted some to speak of the ‘everywhere studio’, while others have raised the question whether post-studio art ever really was opposed to ‘the market’ in the first place, or whether it rather presented one particular market strategy. Item does not contain fulltext, Current risk-stratification systems for prostate cancer (PCa) do not sufficiently reflect the disease heterogeneity. Genomic classifiers (GC) enable improved risk stratification after surgery, but less data exist for patients treated with definitive radiation therapy (RT) or RT in oligo-/metastatic disease stages. To guide future perspectives of GCs for RT, we conducted (1) a systematic review on the evidence of GCs for patients treated with RT and (2) a survey of experts using the Delphi method, addressing the role of GCs in personalized treatments to identify relevant fields of future clinical and translational research. We performed a systematic review and screened ongoing clinical trials on ClinicalTrials.gov. Based on these results, a multidisciplinary international team of experts received an adapted Delphi method survey. Thirty-one and 30 experts answered round 1 and round 2, respectively. Questions with ≥75% agreement were considered relevant and included in the qualitative synthesis. Evidence for GCs as predictive biomarkers is mainly available to the postoperative RT setting. Validation of GCs as prognostic markers in the definitive RT setting is emerging. Experts used GCs in patients with PCa with extensive metastases (30%), in postoperative settings (27%), and in newly diagnosed PCa (23%). Forty-seven percent of experts do not currently use GCs in clinical practice. Expert consensus demonstrates that GCs are promising tools to improve risk-stratification in primary and oligo-/metastatic patients in addition to existing classifications. Experts were convinced that GCs might guide treatment decisions in terms of RT-field definition and intensification/deintensification in various disease stages. This work confirms the value of GCs and the promising evidence of GC utility in the setting of RT. Superconducting cavities can operate analogously to Weber bar detectors of gravitational waves, converting mechanical to electromagnetic energy. The significantly reduced electromagnetic noise results in increased sensitivity to high-frequency signals well outside the bandwidth of the lowest mechanical resonance. The membrane proteins are essential targets for understanding cellular function. The unbiased identification of membrane protein targets is still the bottleneck for a system-level understanding of cellular response to stimuli or perturbations. It has been suggested to enrich the soluble proteome with membrane proteins by introducing nonionic surfactants in the solubilization solution. This strategy aimed to simultaneously identify the globular and membrane protein targets by thermal proteome profiling principles. However, the thermal shift assay would surpass the cloud point temperature from the nonionic surfactants frequently utilized for membrane protein solubilization. It is expected that around the cloud point temperature, the surfactant micelles would suffer structural modifications altering protein solubility. Here, we show that the presence of nonionic surfactants can alter protein thermal stability from a mixed, globular, and membrane proteome. In the presence of surfactant micelles, the changes in protein solubility analyzed after the thermal shift assay was affected by the thermally dependent modification of the micellar size and its interaction with proteins. We demonstrate that the introduction of nonionic surfactants for the solubilization of membrane proteins is not compatible with the principles of target identification by thermal proteome profiling methodologies. Our results lead to exploring thermally independent strategies for membrane protein solubilization to assure confident membrane protein target identification. För att möjliggöra en säker vård för patient, kollegoroch vårdansvarig sjuksköterska ska sjuksköterskan arbeta förebyggande ochpatientsäkert. Syfte: Att kartlägga åtgärder som främjar sjuksköterskans förmåga attidentifiera sepsis på sjukhus. Metod: En litteraturöversikt har genomförts för attskapa en överblick av det aktuella kunskapsläget. För att besvara syftet användesartiklar med en kvantitativ metod. Med hjälp av Polit och Becks niostegsmodellanalyserades artiklar som sedan presenterades i resultatet. Resultat: Resultatetvisade att sjuksköterskorna använde sig utav utbildning, riktlinjer samtscreeningverktyg för att främja identifieringen utav sepsis. Signifikanta skillnader sågsi relation till de olika åtgärderna. Skillnaderna visade bland annat en minskadmortalitet och minskad vårdtid. Hippocampal adult neural stem cells emerge from progeny of the neuroepithelial lineage during murine brain development. Hippocampus development is increasingly well understood. However, the clonal relationships between early neuroepithelial stem cells and postnatal neurogenic cells remain unclear, especially at the single-cell level. Here we report fate bias and gene expression programs in thousands of clonally related cells in the juvenile hippocampus based on single-cell RNA-seq of barcoded clones. We find evidence for early fate restriction of neuroepithelial stem cells to either neurogenic progenitor cells of the dentate gyrus region or oligodendrogenic, non-neurogenic fate supplying cells for other hippocampal regions including gray matter areas and the Cornu ammonis region 1/3. Our study provides new insights into the phenomenon of early fate restriction guiding the development of postnatal hippocampal neurogenesis.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka F3-lärares perspektiv i valet av tryckta böcker kontra digitala texter i deras undervisning samt identifiera eventuella orsaker till att läraren väljer det ena eller det andra pedagogiska verktyget i undervisningen.Studien är en kvalitativ studie med åtta deltagande informanter. Datainsamlingsmetoden var semistrukturerade intervjuer. Resultatet utgår från informanternas utsagor. I studien framkommer det att informanterna upplever både möjligheter och hinder med tryckta böcker och digitala texter i läsundervisningen. Fördelarna med tryckta böcker anses vara att det är lättare att bläddra tillbaka och stryka under samt att boken har en mer avskalad karaktär. Informanterna delar upplevelsen av att den tryckta boken erbjuder en speciell känsla när man öppnar den och att eleverna därav lägger mer fokus på den faktiska läsningen. Hindren med tryckta böcker anser informanterna bland annat vara den ekonomiska begränsningen, det vill säga att det oftast bara finns enstaka exemplar av böckerna. Utifrån informanternas utsagor om digitala texter och dessas möjligheter är att det digitala verktyget erbjuder texter på olika språk och det blir mindre utpekande vid nivåläsning. Vidare påpekar de att det är fördelaktigt med uppläsning samt att kunna visa texter i helklass på projektorn och det stora titelutbudet som erbjuds via de digitala lärplattformerna. Informanternas mest uttalade hinder med digital läsning är utifrån studien de många distraktionsmomenten som medföljer och eleverna tycks tappa läsningen på grund av bekvämligheten i att kunna lyssna på en text.

Amning har stora hälsofördelar både för mor och barn och det finns en önskan hos mödraratt amma sina barn. Trots detta sjunker amningsfrekvensen i Sverige. Tidigare forskning visar att mödrar förväntar sig att amning är något som ska ske naturligt och de uppleveratt de är oförberedda på de utmaningar vilka kan uppstå under amningsresan. Amningsupplevelsen är individuell och är förknippad både med positiva och negativa känslor. I barnmorskans kompetensområde ingår det att ge amningsstöd och information utifrån evidensbaserad kunskap för att stödja och stärka ammande mödrar. Syftet medstudien var att belysa förväntningar på och upplevelser av amning hos mödrar som fått sitt första barn och är utförd som en kvalitativ intervjustudie med induktiv ansats. Åttakvinnor deltog i semistrukturerade intervjuer som analyserades med kvalitativinnehållsanalys. Amning var förknippat med olika känslor, både positiva och negativa och var en individuell upplevelse. Att bli sedd och erhålla individanpassat stöd var viktigt. Det framkom att informationen om amning som ges under graviditeten inte alltid är tillräcklig, men också att den blivande modern inte alltid är mottaglig. Det framkom dock att i efterhand hade mödrarna önskat ytterligare information. Vidare diskuterades mödrarnas uppfattning om omgivningens förväntningar samt de negativa känslor som kan uppstå när barnmorskan ger oönskad hjälp till modern samt de känslor som kan infinna sig vid amningssvårigheter. Barnmorskan har en viktig roll när det kommer till att geindividanpassad information samt stödja och stärka mödrar ur ett livsvärldsperspektivgenom deras amningsresa både under och efter graviditeten.

Background: Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) is frequently used to treat moderate-severe chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD), however limited data exists describing ECP treatment effects on healthcare and societal costs. We aimed to characterize clinical and health economic outcomes and productivity loss in cGVHD patients exposed to ECP. Methods: We identified 2708 patients aged & GE; 18 years with a record of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in the Swedish Patient Register between 2006 and 2020. Patients exposed to ECP from 3 -months post HSCT (index) were included (n= 183). Data was linked to the Prescribed Drug Register, the Cause of Death Register, and the Longitudinal Integrated Database for Health Insurance and Labor Market Studies (LISA). Results: The median patient age at index was 51 years (IQR1-3; 38-61). In the 3-month period before ECP initiation compared to 9-12 months post-ECP, the cumulative three-month dose per patient decreased pred-nisolone/prednisone (1,381 mg vs. 658 mg, p < 0.001) and cyclosporin (12,242 mg vs. 3,501 mg, p < 0.001). Infection incidence also decreased over the same period (79.2% vs 59.1%, p < 0.001). Time spent in healthcare decreased from 68.9% to 22.1% from the first and fifth follow-up year respectively, and corresponding annual healthcare cost reduced from euro27,719 to euro1,981. Among patients < 66 years of age, sickness-related workplace absence decreased from 73.2% to 31.9% between the first and fifth follow-up year, with median annual pro-ductivity loss decreasing from euro20,358 to euro7,211 per patient. Conclusions: ECP was associated with reduced use of corticosteroids, immunosuppressive agents, and fewer in-fections. Furthermore, cost and healthcare utilization decreased over time.

Translation can be understood in different ways: as a practice, a concept, a technique, a method, a site of contestation. This symposium is especially interested in the unsettling potential of translation as a form of mediation that can either re-enact or challenge structures of power. In this way, translation can afford hermeneutic complexity, which complicates the dynamics of the particular and the universal, the local and the global, that dominate debates on coloniality, imperialism, and neo-liberalism. As much as translation can establish hierarchical equivalences and binary oppositions, it can also expose, or even open, cracks through which attempts at separation, fixation, totalization, and subjugation might be displaced. In dialogue with the current debates that intersect the field of translation studies with anthropology as well as media, postcolonial/decolonial, gender, and queer studies, this symposium invites reflection on questions such as: What kinds of materiality and mediality are involved in translational processes? What kinds of historical, sociocultural, political, and linguistic transformations are related to translational effects? What is the relationship between translation and positionality in discourse? What are the affordances and limits of translation as a method?
