We conduct a survey experiment with four thousand German respondents and provide information on two measures of gender inequality, separately or jointly: the gender gap in earnings and the gender gap in pensions. We analyze the effect of information provision on respondents’ views on the importance of reducing gender inequality and on their agreement with the adoption of policies targeted at different stages of the life cycle and aimed at reducing the gaps. We find that providing information on both gaps changes perceptions of the importance of reducing gender inequality and adopting policy measures to this end. Information on only one gap tends to have insignificant effects. By exploring the mechanisms behind our results, we provide insights into the importance of individual views on female disadvantages in the labor market, personal experience of inequality, and social norms as correlates of preferences for reducing gender inequality and policy interventions. We also show that information provision has larger effects on women and young respondents, while treatment effects do not differ by political leaning. These individual characteristics also relate to differences in identifying causes of gender inequality.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka de underliggande orsakerna till den ekonomiska ojämlikheten inom svensk fotboll. Ekonomins betydelse inom fotbollen blir alltmer betydande runtom i hela världen. Sex klubbar i Allsvenskan utgör hela 84% av det egna kapitalet och 85% av spelarförsäljningarna. Malmö FF hade år 2022 700,6 miljoner kronor i eget kapital medan Degerfors hade 2,4 miljoner kronor. Den ekonomiska klyftan i Allsvenskan ökar.Studien utgår ifrån tre teorier. Den resursbaserade teorin, strukturalistiska teorin och intressentmodellen. Även fyra tidigare studier framförs.Vi begränsade oss till klubbarna Halmstads BK, Malmö FF och Djurgårdens IF. Halmstads BK representerar de ”mindre” klubbarna och Malmö FF samt Djurgårdens IF de ”större”. Genom en abduktiv ansats konstruerade vi semi-strukturerade intervjufrågor. Respondenterna som medverkar i studien är personer med bra insikt i klubbarnas ekonomiska struktur, då samtliga har arbetserfarenhet inom en av de tre olika klubbarna. Klyftan blir bevisligen allt större och klubbar behöver utnyttja och hitta nya resurser för att ha en chans att konkurrera., The purpose of this study is to investigate the underlying causes of economic inequality in Swedish football. The importance of the economy in football is becoming increasingly significant around the world. Six clubs in the Allsvenskan make up as much as 84% of the equity and 85% of the player sales. In 2022, Malmö FF had 700,6 million SEK in equity, while Degerfors had 2,4 million SEK. This leads to the financial gap in the Allsvenskan increasing. The study is based on three theories. These are the resource-based theory, the structuralist theory and the stakeholder model. Four previous studies are also presented. We made boundaries and the clubs we chose to target are Halmstads BK, Malmö FF and Djurgårdens IF. Halmstads BK should be seen as a representative of the ´´smaller´´ clubs while Malmö FF and Djurgårdens IF as the ´´bigger´´ ones. Through an abductive approach, we constructed semi-structured interview questions. The respondents who take part in the study are people with good insight and belong/belonged to one of the three clubs above, but also a respondent who has a good grasp of the Allsvenskans finances as a whole. The result showed that there are various different sources of income and underlying factors that differentiate the finances of the various clubs and there is a lot that comes into play. The gap is evidently getting bigger, and clubs need to utilize and find new resources to have a chance to compete.

The objective of this study was to develop a benchmark method to identify best practices in higher education across the country, in relation with management practices of academic productivity gender gaps and their impact on family responsibilities. This paper uses a qualitative approach to collect relevant information from official web pages from sixteen international universities previously selected. All information related to best practices policies implemented in each university was charted and assigned to one of the following categories for further analysis: ranking, gender policies, gender gaps, academic productivity, and childcare responsibilities. Results from this study revealed that the main best practices implemented in the included universities were practices related to harassment prevention, gender equality at college admission, development of protocols, leadership training, scholarships for study and research programs, adequate infrastructure, childcare financial support, flexible work schedules, family leave policies, improvement of the work environment and the development of departments in charge of follow-up and regular assessment of the proposed strategies., En este artículo se presenta un benchmarking realizado con el objetivo de identificar y analizar las buenas prácticas a nivel país y de instituciones de educación superior, con respecto al manejo de brechas de género en la producción académica y el impacto de estas sobre las cargas de cuidado. Se empleó una metodología cualitativa de recolección de información basada en la búsqueda en las páginas web de 16 universidades seleccionadas a nivel mundial, de las cuales se extrajeron las buenas prácticas implementadas por estas instituciones en relación con las categorías de análisis: ranking, políticas de género, brecha, género, producción académica y labores de cuidado. En este proceso se identificó que las principales prácticas implementadas se relacionan con prevención del acoso, ingreso igualitario, creación de protocolos, formación en liderazgo, becas para estudio e investigación, infraestructura y auxilios económicos para el cuidado de los hijos/as, licencias y trabajo flexible, mejoramiento del clima laboral, y la creación de organismos para el seguimiento de lo establecido.

This study assessed the effectiveness of internship programs in bridging the gap between accountancy education and industry demand and whether the experience, skills, and knowledge gained through the program are relevant to industry’s expectations and needs. Two research methods were employed in this study, Narrative Research for phase one and Triangulation Method for phase 2. A total of ten (10) participants from a certain university in Pampanga were interviewed using the interview questionnaires. The results showed that the Internship Program offered by the university lessen the gap between accountancy education and industry demand by providing them a learning opportunity on how to apply the accounting principles and theories in real-life scenarios. The major themes that emerged from the study were: (1) knowledge and understanding of fundamentals accounting principles; (2) accounting software and system utilization and (3) soft skills and hard skills development. The recommendations based on the concluded results were: (1) accounting systems and tools should be introduced and taught in the universities with actual activities with its usage; (2) conduct an additional workshops and seminars for soft skills development and (3) collaboration of universities and host training establishments (HTE).

We experimentally study single-shot laser ablation of GaSb, GaAs, GaP and GaN, for laser pulse durations ranging from 200 fs to 20 ps. We find that the laser ablation threshold fluence of GaSb is almost independent of pulse duration, whereas the ablation threshold for GaN depends strongly on pulse duration. More generally we find that the larger the bandgap, the stronger the dependence of pulse duration. This is expected, as intrinsic laser absorption is mainly linear when the bandgap is small compared to the photon energy, whereas a larger bandgap requires strong field ionization. Thus a larger bandgap leads to a stronger influence of the peak intensity of the pulse and therefore a stronger dependence on the pulse duration, when compared to smaller bandgaps.

The European Union’s energy security is at risk mainly due to its high dependence on Russian energy resources. Although some scholars have argued that the Kremlin would not weaponize its natural resources, the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has made them reconsider. This thesis seeks to answer whether Greece can strengthen the energy security of the European Union through two energy projects: the EastMed pipeline and the electrical interconnectors. These two case studies analyzed the potential barriers that emerged from the literature review of respective energy projects. The research shows that the economic factor does not seem to be an obstacle to implementing EastMed and electricity interconnection projects. Moreover, this thesis points out that both energy projects at the domestic political level find a fertile environment for their construction. On the other hand, the thesis indicates that the geopolitical factor, specifically Turkey’s role, is the main inhibiting factor that endangers the implementation of energy projects. However, according to the research findings, Turkey’s positions do not find international acceptance, its actions are condemned, and the investors of the energy projects do not seem to be affected. Thus, the implementation of EastMed and electrical interconnections does not seem to be affected, and Greece can, through them, strengthen the energy security of the EU., Plotarhis, Hellenic Navy, Approved for public release. This thesis analyzes how Sweden is acting against their Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP) in relation to their firearms exports to Saudi Arabia. There is plenty of previous research on FFP along with the arms trade with Saudi Arabia. Through this, feminist theory is applied to the FFP and the trade relation, with the purpose of attempting to uncover how Sweden’s actions are contradictory to their FFP. Therefore, in order to address how their actions are contradictory, the research question of this thesis is: How is Sweden acting against their FFP? This thesis utilizes a Qualitative Content Analysis to selected empirical material, news websites and international organization websites. As a result based on this analysis, Sweden acts against their FFP because they export firearms to Saudi Arabia, who violates human rights and oppresses women, and supplying a country like that with firearms legitimizes their violating and oppressing actions.

Aquest estudi analitza la bretxa digital de gènere a l’Ajuntament de Barcelona, i ho fa tant des d’una vessant qualitativa, analitzant els llocs de treball municipals de l’àmbit TIC, com des d’una vessant quantitativa, a través d’una enquesta a la plantilla. En aquesta línia, entre altres mesures, es proposa la creació estratègica de creació d’una xarxa municipal de tecnòlogues., This study analyses the digital gender gap in Barcelona City Council, and it does so both from a qualitative perspective, analysing municipal jobs in the ICT field, and from a quantitative perspective, through a staff survey. The aim of the document is to investigate the digital gender gap of the Barcelona City Council in order to be able to know how and why it occurs, and thus to be able to establish mechanisms for correcting it. At the same time, the study provides elements to create active policies to train, accompany and recognize the women workers of Barcelona City Council within the ICT sector and to consolidate a view towards more inclusive technology and without gender bias. Along these lines, among other measures, the strategic creation of a municipal network of women technologists is proposed.

This thesis investigates how Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are implemented within road transport and explores what the potential and intentions of future ITS implementations should be. ITS refers to all information technologies that are used in order to create an improved transport system in terms of safety, effectiveness and sustainability. The study was performed in collaboration with Trafikverket and aims to support them in their work. By conducting interviews, a GAP-analysis made it possible to identify gaps between the current state and the desired state of ITS implementation. The results of the interviews distinguished several common causes for problems with implementation of ITS. Hence, the identified gaps were: responsibility, data exchange and efficiency connections. This study implies that these three gaps are keywords necessary to address in order to solve the identified problems. In order to create an understanding for the future of ITS, a survey was also conducted. The respondents got to evaluate different ITS technologies on a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) scale. Due to the survey, one of the conclusions is to aim for the highest level of TRL for the four technologies identified with a high TRL. Furthermore, this study came to the conclusion that ITS technology currently have two big societal effects; ITS-technology enables behavioral changes among the users and already existing resources can be used more efficiently. The last conclusion of the study concerned the ITS Directive issued by the European Union (EU). The ITS directive has been important in order to advance the implementation of ITS within EU and Sweden. However, a need to further clarify the importance of international collaboration was identified. Also, an upcoming revision of the directive would be beneficial since its changes would address the gaps identified by this study.

Bakgrund: Revision har en framstående roll ur ett samhällsekonomiskt perspektiv, och har under sin framväxt möjliggjort samhällets ekonomiska framfart. Men i samband med denna framväxt har ett gap uppstått mellan klienters förväntningar och upplevt värde med en revision. Tidigare litteratur belyser inte vad som föranleder dessa förväntningar, eller vems förväntningar revisorn ska utgå ifrån. Författarna ämnar således att bidra med en ökad förståelse inom forskningsområdet. Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att öka förståelsen för gapet mellan klientens förväntningar och upplevt värde med en revision. Metod: Denna kvalitativa uppsats karaktäriseras med en deduktiv forskningsansats, där semistrukturerade intervjuer med tio chefer för ekonomiavdelningen (finansdirektör), en VD samt en pilotstudie utgjorde det empiriska materialet. För att analysera detta material har en tematisk analys nyttjats. Slutsats: Av uppsatsens rön framgår det att det föreligger ett gap mellan klienters förväntningar och upplevelser i samband med en revision. Detta gap manifesterar sig främst i revisorers tillkortakommanden gällande deras förståelse för verksamheten, som följd av revisionsbranschens upplevda överflöd av oerfarna juniorer. Klienters utbildning och erfarenhet visar sig, tillsammans med det reviderade bolagets storlek och bransch, föranleda deras förväntningar. Uppsatsen visar även att det kan föreligga skillnader mellan vad en VD och finansdirektör förväntar sig av en revision, beroende på hur företagsstrukturen ser ut. But in connection with this growth, a gap has emerged between clients' expectations and perceived value of an audit. Previous literature does not shed light on what prompts these expectations, or whose expectations theauditor should assume. The authors thus intend to contribute with an increased understanding within the research area. Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to increase understanding of the gap between clientexpectations and perceived value with an audit. Method: This qualitative essay is characterized by a deductive research approach, wheresemi-structured interviews with ten CFO:s, a CEO and a pilot study constituted the empirical material. To analyze this material, a thematic analysis has been used. Conclusion: From the essay's findings, it appears that there is a gap between clients' expectations and perceived value in connection with an audit. This gap manifests itself mainly in auditors' shortcomings regarding their understanding of the business, as a result of the audit industry's perceived abundance of inexperienced juniors. Clients' education and experience, along with the audited company's size and industry, appear to drive their expectations. The essay also shows that there can be differences between what a CEO and CFO expect from an audit, depending on how the company structure looks. Thus, it may be necessary to make a distinction of who constitutes the client within the company management. The essay contributes by showing the necessity of a distinction of who constitutes the client within the top management team and what can cause expectations.

Orientation-patterned gallium phosphide (OP-GaP) has been grown heteroepitaxially on OP gallium arsenide (GaAs) templates using hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). The effect of OP-GaAs template fabrication methods of epitaxial-inversion and wafer bonding on the heteroepitaxial OP-GaP growth has been investigated. OP-GaP layers with a growth rate of up to 35 mu m/h and excellent domain fidelity were obtained. The growth rate and the domain fidelity have been revealed/studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM). In addition, we demonstrate that the crystalline quality of the individual domains, namely, the substrate-oriented domains (ODs) and the inverted domains (IDs), can be investigated by high-resolution x-ray diffraction reciprocal space mapping (HRXRDRSM), which can also indicate the domain fidelity. Attempts to increase the growth rate and improve the domain fidelity by increasing the III and V group precursors resulted in either an increase in the growth rate in the OP-GaP layers grown on epitaxial inversion OP-GaAs template at the expense of the domain crystalline quality and fidelity or an improvement in the crystalline quality of the domains at the expense of the growth rate in the OP-GaP layers grown on wafer-bonded OP-GaAs templates. In the case of OP-GaP grown on OP-GaAs templates prepared by epitaxial inversion, the crystalline quality of the ODs is better than that of the IDs, but it shows that the quality of the inverted layer in the template influences the quality and fidelity of the grown domains. To the authors' knowledge, exploitation of HRXRDRSM studies on OP-GaP to establish the crystalline quality of its individual domains (ODs and IDs) is the first of its kind. OP-ZnSe grown on OP-GaAs templates has also been included in this study to further emphasize the potential of this method. Anodization causes a strong reduction of CL intensity as well as a blue spectral shift. Additional blue shift and enhancement of CL intensity is observed in samples cracked in vacuum by the effect of the SEM electron beam, which is explained by the reduction of the influence of surface states on the recombination mechanism. The structural and optical properties of the samples were characterized by etching, X-ray diffraction and cathodoluminescence in the scanning electron microscope. The obtained results confirm the variation of the segregation coefficient k observed in previous VFM Te-doped GaSb experiments. The increase of k and the grain structure refinement are attributed to the increase of the interface velocity. The samples have been analyzed by means of Raman spectroscopy, glancing incidence x-ray diffraction (GIRXD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements. After LTA process, the Raman spectra of samples annealed with the highest energy density show a forbidden TO vibrational mode of GaP. This result suggests the formation of crystalline domains with a different orientation in the annealed region regarding the GaP unannealed wafer. This behavior has been corroborated by GIXRD measurements. TEM images show that the LTA produces a defective layer with disoriented crystalline domains in the surface. The depth of this defective layer increases with the energy density of LTA. La investigación se enfoca en el desarrollo de Gobierno de Tecnologías de la Información (TI) en instituciones educativas, con énfasis en la administración eficiente de los recursos y procesos tecnológicos. La metodología consistió en una revisión bibliográfica de la Norma IEC/ISO 38500 e ITIL V3. Incluye una etapa de diagnóstico de la gobernabilidad y aplicabilidad de los principios y tareas de la norma IEC/ISO 38500, una segunda etapa de revisión de las fases de ITIL, una tercera etapa de implementación de procesos y prácticas sugeridas por la norma y el modelo, y por último la mejora continua. Se identificaron procesos con muy baja ponderación que requerían enfoque de mejora. Un ejemplo de esto es el proceso de operación de servicios en el apartado de revisión de los procesos de ITIL, el cual es esencial para que la organización ejecute y brinde servicios de forma eficaz y eficiente. En la primera evaluación, este proceso obtuvo un análisis GAP de 0.8. Luego de aplicar las soluciones propuestas y volver a evaluarlo, se observó una importante mejora en el proceso, alcanzando un 2.5 en el análisis GAP. Al evaluar la gobernabilidad de la dirección de TI, a través de la norma ISO/IEC 38500, permitió alinear la estrategia del departamento de TI con la estrategia institucional; así mismo al evaluar todas las fases de ITIL, facilitó establecer los puntos críticos en los servicios que presta el departamento de TI, los cuales sirvieron de punto de partida para el proceso de mejora continua., The research focuses on the development of Information Technology (IT) Governance in educational institutions, with emphasis on the efficient management of technological resources and processes. The methodology consisted of a bibliographic review of the IEC/ISO 38500 and ITIL V3 standards. It includes a stage of diagnosis of the governance and applicability of the principles and tasks of the IEC/ISO 38500 standard, a second stage of review of the ITIL phases, a third stage of implementation of processes and practices suggested by the standard and the model, and finally continuous improvement. Processes with very low weighting were identified as requiring improvement focus. An example of this is the service operation process in the ITIL process review section, which is essential for the organization to execute and deliver services effectively and efficiently. In the first assessment, this process obtained a GAP analysis of 0.8. After applying the proposed solutions and re-evaluating it, a significant improvement in the process was observed, reaching a 2.5 in the GAP analysis. By evaluating the governance of the IT management, through the ISO/IEC 38500 standard, it was possible to align the IT department's strategy with the institutional strategy; likewise, by evaluating all the ITIL phases, it was possible to establish the critical points in the services provided by the IT department, which served as a starting point for the continuous improvement process.

Following stimulation, the T cell receptor (TCR) and its coreceptors integrate multiple intracellular signals to initiate T cell proliferation, migration, gene expression, and metabolism. Among these signaling molecules are the small GTPases RAS and RAP1, which induce MAPK pathways and cellular adhesion to activate downstream effector functions. Although many studies have helped to elucidate the signaling intermediates that mediate T cell activation, the molecules and pathways that keep naive T cells in check are less understood. Several recent studies provide evidence that RASA2 and RASA3, which are GAP1-family GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs) that inactivate RAS and RAP1, respectively, are crucial molecules that limit T cell activation and adhesion. In this review we describe recent data on the roles of RASA2 and RASA3 as gatekeepers of T cell activation and migration.

This paper unpacks the drivers of growing intergenerational housing wealth inequality in Australia. We also account for the multidimensional nature of housing wealth divides by examining the interaction between age and other divides. We find that the Australian intergenerational housing wealth gap widened from 161% in 1997–98 to 234% in 2017–18, favouring the older cohort. This was driven by lower rates of homeownership and lower property value growth among younger cohorts, with the relative lack of homeownership access the more significant driver. However, higher rates of couple formation and tertiary education amongst the young mitigated a further widening of the gap. The intergenerational housing wealth gap is exacerbated within specific population subgroups. The growing housing wealth gap between the income-poor young and income-rich old has been particularly alarming, climbing from 532% to 1230% over two decades. We discuss implications for policies seeking to alleviate intergenerational tensions in housing markets.

Climate change adaptation (CCA) is an urgent global challenge that requires transdisciplinary efforts to deliver effective, aligned, useful, and sustainable outcomes. Current approaches and tools have been slow to translate into robust action, however, leading to a widening gap between adaptation theory and actual on the ground implementation. This theory–practice gap is a fundamental factor that is causing significant challenges to adaptation, yet it has seldom been directly defined or addressed. A better understanding of how this gap emerges, what drives it, and how it could be solved contributes to improving the way both adaptation theory and practice develop. This study critically examines the existence of this gap through a novel framework via a series of workshops with experts engaged in adaptation science, planning and implementation. The findings show that there are multiple gaps that interact with each other, generating a complex and challenging process of adaptation. There are diverse drivers such as motivation and values, knowledge, capacity, language, and funding, that shape the gap. Overall, we show that the gap can be tackled by integrating multiple solutions utilising the diverse sources of knowledge compiled in the framework. Possible solutions include improving knowledge creation and accessibility, enabling collaboration and communication between stakeholders, developing skills and capacity, improving context or circumstances, and introducing new roles and tools. These findings will be useful for scientists, practitioners and policymakers who are interested in developing more integrated theory–practice solutions for robust and effective climate adaptation.

Bakgrund: Revision har en framstående roll ur ett samhällsekonomiskt perspektiv, och har under sin framväxt möjliggjort samhällets ekonomiska framfart. Men i samband med denna framväxt har ett gap uppstått mellan klienters förväntningar och upplevt värde med en revision. Tidigare litteratur belyser inte vad som föranleder dessa förväntningar, eller vems förväntningar revisorn ska utgå ifrån. Författarna ämnar således att bidra med en ökad förståelse inom forskningsområdet. Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att öka förståelsen för gapet mellan klientens förväntningar och upplevt värde med en revision. Metod: Denna kvalitativa uppsats karaktäriseras med en deduktiv forskningsansats, där semistrukturerade intervjuer med tio chefer för ekonomiavdelningen (finansdirektör), en VD samt en pilotstudie utgjorde det empiriska materialet. För att analysera detta material har en tematisk analys nyttjats. Slutsats: Av uppsatsens rön framgår det att det föreligger ett gap mellan klienters förväntningar och upplevelser i samband med en revision. Detta gap manifesterar sig främst i revisorers tillkortakommanden gällande deras förståelse för verksamheten, som följd av revisionsbranschens upplevda överflöd av oerfarna juniorer. Klienters utbildning och erfarenhet visar sig, tillsammans med det reviderade bolagets storlek och bransch, föranleda deras förväntningar. But in connection with this growth, a gap has emerged between clients' expectations and perceived value of an audit. Previous literature does not shed light on what prompts these expectations, or whose expectations theauditor should assume. The authors thus intend to contribute with an increased understanding within the research area. Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to increase understanding of the gap between clientexpectations and perceived value with an audit. Method: This qualitative essay is characterized by a deductive research approach, wheresemi-structured interviews with ten CFO:s, a CEO and a pilot study constituted the empirical material. To analyze this material, a thematic analysis has been used. Conclusion: From the essay's findings, it appears that there is a gap between clients' expectations and perceived value in connection with an audit. This gap manifests itself mainly in auditors' shortcomings regarding their understanding of the business, as a result of the audit industry's perceived abundance of inexperienced juniors. Clients' education and experience, along with the audited company's size and industry, appear to drive their expectations. The essay also shows that there can be differences between what a CEO and CFO expect from an audit, depending on how the company structure looks. Thus, it may be necessary to make a distinction of who constitutes the client within the company management. The essay contributes by showing the necessity of a distinction of who constitutes the client within the top management team and what can cause expectations.

The core and the embedding medium are normal semiconductors while the shell material is assumed to be a topological insulator. The envelope functions are found to satisfy a Dirac-like equation that can be solved in a closed form. The core-shell nanoparticle supports midgap bound states located at both interfaces due to band inversion. These states are robust since they are topologically protected. The energy spectrum presents mirror symmetry due to the chiral symmetry of the Dirac-like Hamiltonian. La empresa y el sector de actividad influyen en los tipos impositivos efectivos devengados y pagados, mientras que el país o la zona geográfica en que tributa la empresa no tiene incidencia. This paper analyses the information provided by IBEX 35 companies in the Statement of Non-Financial Information related to their tax situation in the countries in which they operate, for the period 2018-2021. The results show that both the average effective tax rates accrued and paid have decreased over the years studied. The company and the sector of activity influence the effective tax rates paid and accrued, while the country or geographical area in which the company is taxed has no impact. [EN] Angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy is an extremely powerful probe of materials to access the occupied electronic structure with energy and momentum resolution. However, it remains blind to those dynamic states above the Fermi level that determine technologically relevant transport properties. In this work we extend band structure mapping into the unoccupied states and across the entire Brillouin zone by using a state-of-the-art high repetition rate, extreme ultraviolet femtosecond light source to probe optically excited samples. The wideranging applicability and power of this approach are demonstrated by measurements on the two-dimensional semiconductor WSe2, where the energy-momentum dispersion of valence and conduction bands are observed in a single experiment. This provides a direct momentum-resolved view, not only on the complete out-of-equilibrium band gap but also on its renormalization induced by electronic screening. Our work establishes a benchmark for measuring the band structure of materials, with direct access to the energy-momentum dispersion of the excited-state spectral function.

Scientific evidence for the urgency of curbing the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance is incontrovertible. Yet, the translation of knowledge into effective design and implementation of action plans is hampered by gaps in perception, attitudes and practices in the human health, agriculture, and environmental sectors. To fill these gaps in regions where the disease burden attributable to antimicrobial resistance is heaviest, a cadre of One Health Stewards equipped with strategies to translate and meld global and local evidence for knowledge dissemination is deemed necessary. This opinion articulates a case for cultivating and deploying One Health Antibiotic Stewards according to specific actions within the environmental context of antibiotic resistance.

This thesis sets to interrogate the deployment of resource nationalism in the Turkish case, using the hydraulic project Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi as a case study. While previous research has often determined resource nationalism through state-building and economic accumulation, the thesis challenges this literature by focusing on how conceptualizations of subjects and places are constructed in conjuncture to resource nationalist imageries to build a sense of national unity. Adhering to the post-structural school and Foucault’s versatile conception governmentality, resource nationalism is comprehended as a political discourse organized by knowledge-practices, water-scientific resolutions, discursive imageries, and political hierarchies. As the region in which GAP is situated has historically been depicted as ‘regressive’ in comparison to Turkey, I argue that GAP fosters a developmental trajectory to homogenize the region with remaining Turkey. Through an analysis of GAP’s policy framework, I conclude that GAP deploys resource nationalism by encouraging ideas of modernization, competitiveness, and entrepreneurship onto subjects and places to bolster socio-economic development and establish a greater sense of national unification. However, as these imageries are not pursued by force, the thesis explores the applicability of productive power, where restraining/uplifting imageries of subjects and places shape how these tenets are conceptualized through naturalizing discourses.

La superconductividad continúa siendo a día de hoy uno de los fenómenos físicos que suscitan mayor interés, tanto por el afán en el mundo científico por contar con una teoría completa, como el del área ingenieril por aprovechar sus propiedades únicas. En el camino natural a la mejor comprensión de este fenómeno, nos encontramos con la duda de qué sucede en la interfase entre un superconductor y un metal normal. Motivados por esta incerteza, hemos dedicado este trabajo al completo al estudio de la resistencia de contacto entre un metal normal y un superconductor, así como diversas técnicas y estrategias que nos permitan obtener datos de conductancias de forma muy precisa y exacta.

The territory of the Republic of Croatia has historically been a place of forced and economic migration, mainly consisting of population movements between former Yugoslav states and other neighbouring European countries. Since the 2000s, these borderlands have become sites of continuous transit migration from the Middle East and Africa. Based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted in Zagreb over several periods between 2016 and 2020, this thesis seeks to understand how non-European migration and places of transit in the Balkans interrelate and transform each other. Thus, the study explores how different migrants’ trajectories meet, and how they interact with the spaces and people in Zagreb as the country prepares to enter the Schengen area of free movement, and the city is absorbed into the European border regime. The focus on ‘migrant’ and ‘non-migrant’ relations in a transit area presents a particular viewpoint on the mediated dynamics of large-scale migration into Europe. The thesis argues for a study of migration and emplacement as entangled with borders, the histories of transit localities, relations within them, affects in everyday encounters, and structures of precarity. As a contribution to the anthropology of transit migration, three interrelated concepts are formulated. First, ‘precarious emplacement’ captures the complexities of moving and staying on the European periphery by taking these (im)mobilities to be embedded in local spaces, relations and histories. Second, by highlighting the relationality of emplacement, the concept of ‘wavering reception’ is developed to depict the discourses, practices and orientations of local residents. These fluctuate between hospitality and hostility, and therefore form a complex affective landscape in the urban spaces where migration is prevalent. Third, the thesis develops the concept of ‘the Gap’ as an indeterminate and ductile space between individuals and groups. It is used as an analytic for exploring the qualitative

Because research has shown systematic associations between self-discrepancies and several psychological disorders, self-discrepancy is considered as a transdiagnostic factor in psychopathology. The current research contributes to the literature by testing both cross-sectionally and longitudinally the role of self-discrepancies in parental burnout, an exhaustion disorder in the parenting domain where standards are high and prescriptions numerous. In three studies (including a prospective one; N1 = 109, N2 = 1689, N3 Third measurement time = 553 parents), we showed that self-discrepancies are strongly associated with parental burnout, and Study 3 showed that they even predict rank-order increases in such burnout. These results have implications for research on self-discrepancies, parental burnout and psychopathology more broadly.

Cosmetic dermatology is a key subspecialty of academic dermatology. As such, academic centers are expected to demonstrate excellence in the teaching of cosmetic dermatology skills to trainees, the clinical delivery of cosmetic dermatology services to patients, and the performance of clinical research that advances knowledge and uncovers new therapies in cosmetic dermatology. The Association of Academic Cosmetic Dermatology (AACD), a newly formed medical professional society, includes as its principal aims the support of all of these areas. AACD is comprised of group of board-certified dermatologists who teach cosmetic and laser dermatology at US dermatology residency programs. An expert panel constituted by the AACD recently convened a workshop to review gaps pertaining to academic cosmetic dermatology. This panel considered needs and potential corrective initiatives in three domains: resident education, patient experience, and clinical research. The work of the panel was used to develop a roadmap, which was adopted by consensus, and which will serve to guide the AACD moving forward.

ZnS1-xTex epitaxial layers with x ~ 0.06, nearly lattice-matched to GaP substrates, have been grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Direct growth of the layers onto the substrates results in poor crystal quality, showing no sign of coherent growth. This seems to be due to alloy composition deviation at the initial stage of the growth. To avoid the problem, a thin coherent ZnS buffer layer has been inserted at the ZnSTe/GaP interface. With the buffer layers, coherent growth of ZnSTe layers is achieved and the crystal quality has been improved.

There has been extensive documentation of the persistent lack of diversity inthe teaching workforce (Brown, 2014; Casey et al., 2016; Ingersoll & May, 2011; Sleeter, 2017; Villegas & Irvine, 2010). Research has shown that having a diverse teaching force is positive for all students (Villegas & Irvine, 2010; Childs, 2019). A diversity gap exists in the District A Public School System. According to the Maryland Public School Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity and Gender and Number of Schools report from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), on September 30, 2018, 70.1% of all K-12 students in DISTRICT A were White, 12.8% were Black, and 6.3% were Hispanic. Another MSDE report (Professional Staff by Assignment, Race/Ethnicity and Gender Report, 2018) on race/ethnicity and gender of school professional staff, District A in October 2018, reported that 92.4% of its teachers were White, 5.3% Black, and 2.4% Other (Asian, Hispanic, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Two or More Races), according to the (p.14). The difference between the percentage of teachers of color and students of color in that school year was 22.3%. Given the sphere of influence by the researcher, the study focused on ways to retain current teachers of color. The study examined support strategies current teachers of color identified as having a positive impact on their decisions to remain in the District A system. A virtual focus group of 6 current teachers of color in District A was completed. Analysis of this focus group transcription led to the emergence of 6 themes: burnout, isolation, representation, growth, hiring, building relationships and mentoring. Detta kandidatexamensarbete, som genomförts på uppdrag av medicinteknisk chef på Södersjukhuset Git Eliasson, hade som mål att analysera vilken standard av ISO 9001:2015 och SS-EN ISO 13485:2016 som var lämpligast för Södersjukhusets medicintekniska verksamhet. ISO 9001:2015 och ISO 13485:2016 är internationella standarder framtagna av EU kommissionen för att hjälpa organisationer att bygga upp kvalitetsledningssystem som uppfyller de krav som ställs på dessa organisationer. För att ta reda på vad som var lämpligast för Södersjukhuset MTA så gjordes en litteraturstudie där djupgående kunskaper om ISO 9001:2015 och SS-EN ISO 13485:2016 erhölls. Vid oklarheter så kontaktades projektledare och experter för att tydliggöra regelverk. Därefter gjordes verksamhetsbesök där Södersjukhusets medicintekniska verksamhet studeras för att förstå var de befinner sig i dagsläget samt för att kunna göra en GAP-analys. Även företag som erbjuder ackreditering kontaktades. Detta för att få en inblick på kostnadsfrågan då även den var utav intresse.
