Resident satisfaction with the building maintenance services rendered by the property management company is vital to the quality of people's life in the residential buildings. Resident satisfaction measurement generally depends on the service quality of the building maintenance services offered by the property management company. However, there were too many attributes that have influenced resident satisfaction, as highlighted in previous research. In fact, some of them were duplicated and redundant. Thus, the aim of this paper is to identify and simplify the attributes that contribute to resident satisfaction in the building maintenance services. For this purpose, the researchers carried out a systematic review of the most recent articles from 2009 to 2019. Researchers also have considered a few articles before 2009 with the opinion that articles were useful to support the present study. Researchers conducted content analysis by systematically analysing and reviewing previous research publications on service quality dimensions used for users' satisfaction measurement in the facility management context. Past researches have reported on 45 service quality dimensions that have been considered for users' satisfaction evaluation in the facility management field. The findings showed that the identified attributes suggested in the previous works in the facility management field were for a specific and different types of building. In this paper, the researchers suggest a comprehensive range of 18 service quality dimensions including cleanliness, general maintenance and assurance service quality dimension that are useful for measuring resident satisfaction with building maintenance services of the high-rise residential buildings. Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon is currently affecting many millions of people worldwide. The higher temperatures are experienced in urban areas as compared to the surrounding countryside. The UHI effect has been a great threat to human habitation, and the way to mitigate this problem has been a global concern over decades. Artificial and manmade pavements have been recognised as one of the major origins that deteriorate the thermal environments for living. On the one hand, commonly used pavement materials could lead to a reduced latent heat flux and an increased sensible heat flux to the environment. Following this, there is a series of experiments and numerical analysis that has been conducted by researchers. The selection of pavement type requires an understanding of a local context of an area and characteristics of the pavements. This current study emphasises on reviewing the features, factors and impacts of different type of pavements, as well as determining the suitability of different types of pavements. It is expected that the outcome from this study can assist in further understanding of pavements and its effects on UHI, as well as can ultimately assist in reducing the effect of UHI on human population.

A quality tool in achieving the required quality and customer satisfaction of the industrialised building system (IBS) is needed. Aiming to develop a general quality function deployment (QFD) model to enhance the adoption of IBS in housing projects, two sets of structured questionnaires were designed, where the first set was for IBS house occupiers and the second set for construction stakeholders. Frequency distribution, arithmetic measure, gap analysis, Pareto analysis, and QFD application were employed to identify the customer satisfaction factors and the IBS adoption strategies. A general QFD model was developed based on the 'quality' matrix (Q-Matrix), 'function' matrix (F-Matrix), and a combination of 'quality' matrix plus 'function' matrix (QF-Matrix) derived from this study. Customer satisfaction with IBS products could enhance the demand for this kind of building automation system, thus the model could be used more objectively in developing, designing, and managing IBS in the global construction industry, especially in the current economic recession and recovery phase. © 2014 © 2014 Taylor & Francis.

This paper proposes on the development of a hybrid location and positioning (L&P) system by combining range measurements and angle measurements for a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system. The proposed hybrid technique called as hybrid multiple linear lines of position (HMLLOP) algorithm extends the fundamental idea of using the multiple linear lines of position (MLLOP) scheme when extra information in the form of direction of arrival (DOA) measurements at a minimum of three base stations (BSs) is available. The technique explores the use of multiple lines of position (LOP) instead of circular LOP and determines new lower and upper bounds of DOA according to the measurements obtained from an MLLOP scheme which aims to minimize the DOA error caused by non-line of sight (NLOS) propagation. Simulation results have been provided that show that the proposed hybrid schemes outperform the range-only algorithm in terms of estimated location accuracy. It has been shown that time of arrival (TOA)-based location can be used as a baseline location estimation technique, with additional DOA measurements being used to further improve accuracy.
