This study aimed to systematically analyze the development, current status, hot topics, frontier areas, and trends in ADS research.Patients and Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection database from January 1998 to June 2023. Information regarding the country, institution, author, journal, and keywords was collected for each article. Bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer and Citespace software.Results: The final analysis covered 1695 publications, demonstrating a steady increase in ADS research. The United States was the most prolific and influential country with 684 publications, followed by China and Japan. The University of California System was the most productive institution with 113 publications. Shaffrey, CI (47 publications) and Lenke, LG (41 publications) were top authors. The analysis revealed seven main research clusters: “intervertebral disc”, “adult spinal deformity”, “lumbar fusion”, “minimally invasive surgery”, “navigation”, “postoperative complications”, and “mental retardation”. Keywords with strong bursts of activity included degeneration, prevalence, imbalance, classification, lumbar spinal stenosis, and kyphosis.Conclusion: In conclusion, in recent years, ADS research has undergone rapid development. The pathway is mediated by the SMAD family proteins that include SMAD3 and SMAD6. Our study aimed to evaluate the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of SMAD3/SMAD6 and susceptibility to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in the Chinese population.Patients and Methods: This was a hospital-based case–control study compromised of 1043 ESCC patients and 1315 non-cancer patients. Seven SMAD3/SMAD6 (rs8028147, rs3743343, rs3743342, rs8025774, rs8031440, rs803167, and rs34643453) SNPs were selected and used to evaluate their correlation with ESCC susceptibility. Genetic model tests, stratified analyses, linkage disequilibrium analyses, and haplotype analyses were performed in our study.Results: Participants with SMAD3 rs3743342 C>T, rs8025774 C>T, rs8031440 G>A or rs8031627 G>A had a significantly higher risk of ESCC. This was more evident in males, older patients (> 63 years), smokers, and non-alcohol drinking participants. Linkage disequilibrium analyses further revealed that there were strong correlations between SMAD3 rs374334

Jianchao Liu, Wenfeng DuDepartment of Gastroenterological Surgery, Liaocheng People’s Hospital, Liaocheng Clinical School of Taishan Medical University, Liaocheng, Shandong Province, 252000, People’s Republic of ChinaBackground and purpose: Homo sapiens FOXF1 adjacent noncoding developmental regulatory RNA (FENDRR) is a novel long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) exerting important effects on transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential role of FENDRR in colon cancer.Methods: Multiple cellular and molecular biology experiments were performed in the present study, such as CCK-8, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, confocal immunofluorescent and animal studies.Results: We determined that attenuation of FENDRR was a frequent event in colon cancer tissues and colon cancer cell lines, in contrast to their normal counterparts. Low levels of FENDRR were associated with the clinical stages and poor prognosis. Moreover, ectopic expression of FENDRR repressed colon cancer cell viability, invasion and epithelial–mesenchymal transition. Furthermore, through a series of in vitro and in vivo assays, we reported the discovery of FENDRR modulating the expression of SOX4 protein, and hence in the progression of colon cancer.Conclusion: Based on these data, we demonstrated that FENDRR may function as a tumor-suppressor gene by repressing SOX4 and as a potential therapeutic target for colon cancer.Keywords: FENDRR, SOX4, colon cancer, progression

In times of rapid growth, both in terms of economic development and globalization, an increasing number of firms extend their businesses abroad. A subsequent challenge of this development is the managerial implications of cross-cultural management. This study employs a qualitative approach in a single case study of Swedish company and its subsidiary in China. After reviewing the previous studies, the authors summarize the differences of management style, staff behaviors and communication system in different culture context and find the barriers of cross cultural communication in multinational firms. The findings of this study indicate that the barriers of communication come from the national culture’s influence on the work place and behaviors of people with different identity. Moreover, culture also influences people’s way of thinking and behaving and result in different understandings toward vision and purposes of firms.

This study focuses on undergraduates in Shanghai and aims to generate some practical implications on how to improve the entrepreneurial environment by enhancing undergraduates’ entrepreneurial intentions. The authors initiated an analytical model with support from the GEM conceptual model and Krueger’s intention model (2000) to carry on an investigation among local undergraduates. The data reflects an actuality of undergraduates’ entrepreneurial intention. On the other hand, by the correlation analysis, undergraduates’ preferences upon different aspects of entrepreneurial environment are filtered out. Finally, practical implications are given through two aspects. One is divisions of respondents by their different grades of entrepreneurial intentions; the preferences from the higher intentioned group will firstly be suggested to improve. The other one is based on the comparison between undergraduates’ valuation and experts’ measurement on the entrepreneurial environment. In conclusion, the study reflects that the analytical model is applicable to undergraduates in Shanghai. To enhance undergraduates’ entrepreneurial intention, it is highly recommended by the authors to improve entrepreneurial environment through more attention to the feasibility of technology transfer, sufficient government programs for new firms, the effectiveness of technological region, and government projects.
