This article advocates the concept of race trouble as a way of synthesizing variation in racial discourse, and as a way of studying how social interaction and institutional life continue to be organized by conceptions of 'race' and 'racism'. Our analysis of an online discussion at a South African University about the defensibility of a characterization of (black) student protesters as 'savages' revealed a number of familiar strategies: participants avoided explicit racism, denied racism, and denied racism on behalf of others. However, the aim of this analysis was not to identify the 'real' racism, but to show how race and racism were used in the interaction to develop perspectives on transformation in the institution, to produce social division in the University, and to create ambivalently racialized and racializing subject positions. We demonstrate how, especially through uses of deracialized discourse, participants' actions were observably shaped by the potential ways in which others could hear 'race' and 'racism'. Race trouble thus became manifest through racial suggestion, allusion, innuendo, and implication. We conclude with a call to social psychologists to study the ways in which meanings of 'race' and 'racism' are forged and contested in relation to each other.

Aim: Prevention of hepatitis C (HCV) remains a public health challenge. A new body of work is emerging seeking to explore and exploit "symbiotic goals" of people who inject drugs (PWID). That is, strategies used by PWID to achieve other goals may be doubly useful in facilitating the same behaviours (use of sterile injecting equipment) required to prevent HCV. This project developed and trialled new HCV prevention messages based on the notion of symbiotic messages. Method: New HCV prevention messages were developed in a series of 12 posters after consultation with staff from needle and syringe programs (NSPs) and a drug user organisation. Two posters were displayed each week for a 6-week period within one NSP. NSP staff and clients were invited to focus groups to discuss their responses to the posters. Results: A total of four focus groups were conducted; one group of seven staff members and three groups of clients with a total of 21 participants. Responses to each of the posters were mixed. Staff and clients interpreted messages in literal ways rather than as dependent on context, with staff concerned that not all HCV prevention information was included in any one message; while clients felt that some messages were misleading in relation to the expectations of pleasure. Clients appreciated the efforts to use bright imagery and messages that included acknowledgement of pleasure. Clients were not aware of some harm reduction information contained in the messages (such as "shoot to the heart"), and this generated potential for misunderstanding of the intended message. Clients felt that any message provided by the NSP could be trusted and did not require visible endorsement by health departments. Conclusions: While the logic of symbiotic messages is appealing, it is challenging to produce eye-catching, brief messages that provide sufficient information to cover the breadth of HCV prevention. Se pretende determinar el grado de riesgo ergonómico laboral, durante el desempeño de un puesto de trabajo específico como es el Reparto de Paquetería. Materiales y Métodos: Dentro de los modelos de Investigación Cuantitativa tenemos dos grandes grupos de diseños: experimentales y cuasi experimentales. Sin embargo existen otros diseños cuantitativos con objetivos más modestos, que suelen ser sin embargo, de bastante utilidad práctica. Entre ellos está el Modelo de Investigación de Evaluación, en el que encuadra el presente trabajo. Es una descripción y evaluación analítica de un Puesto de trabajo, un caso típico de MMM, desde los métodos de la Ergonomía. Instrumentos de Evaluación utilizados: Lista de Chequeo para Manejo Manual de Materiales de la OSHA. Enseguida se profundiza con una Lista de Verificación de las condiciones de riesgo laboral, y finalmente se concluye aplicando la Lista de Evaluación Ergonómica. Intentamos responder la pregunta: ¿Cuál es el grado de Riesgo Ergonómico laboral, del puesto de trabajo analizado? Resultados: 1) Lista de Chequeo OSHA: 92%, 2) Lista de Verificación: 70.4%, 3) Lista de Evaluación Ergonómica: 71.9%. Sumatoria: 78.3%. Diagnostico = Riesgo alto. Conclusiones: El MMM, es una de las tareas de mayor riesgo ergonómico. Varios estudios la consideran como primer causa de de daños laborales musculo-esqueléticos en un puesto de trabajo y el presente, lo ratifica. La Lumbalgia ocupacional, es la más asociada con la tarea desempeñada en el puesto analizado.
