The Duality of Sound widmet sich der medientechn(olog)ischen Präsentation raumzeitlicher Relationen zeitkritischer Prozesse und verdeutlicht anhand des sonischen Signals die zentrale Rolle der techn(olog)ischen Messmedien in Bezug auf die Erzeugung von so etwas wie Welt. Zunächst soll mittels der Informationstheorie das Signal als solches ausgelotet werden, um daraufhin jenes Signal mit der Erzeugung von so etwas wie Welt verkoppeln zu können. Es wird sich zeigen, dass das Signal im Allgemeinen die Fähigkeit besitzt, im Rahmen der besorgten Zeit (Heidegger) ordnungsstiftende, raumzeitliche Relationen (Whitehead) zu bilden. Das in der Quantentheorie oft zitierte Doppelspaltexperiment dient als Beispiel, da es die strenge Verbindung zwischen ausgewähltem Messapparat und offenbartem Phänomen darstellt. Dabei wird sich nicht nur zeigen, wie das in der Messung Offenbarte zu deuten ist, sondern, dass die eigentliche Eigenschaft eines Objekts von Interesse – Licht genauso wie Sound – erst aus der Repräsentation hervorgeht. Im zweiten Kapitel wird erläutert, dass zwei sich gegenseitig ausschließende Messverfahren von Nöten sind, die sich schließlich im techn(olog)ischen Messkörper wiederfinden. Hier findet eine medienwissenschaftliche Deutung des Messaktes statt: das herausgearbeitete ‚techn(olog)ische Unbestimmtheitsprinzip‘ zeigt, dass die Möglichkeit der Bildung raumzeitlicher Relationen durch zwei medientechn(olog)ische ‚Anatomietypen‘ beschränkt ist. In Anlehnung an Barad lässt sich argumentieren, dass das Messobjekt zwar einen Körper besitzt (sex), dieser sich jedoch immer im Diskurs (gender) des Subjekts wiederfindet. Demnach kann das Messmedium nie rein objektiv sein, da bereits mit der Entscheidung, also mit der Wahl des Messinstruments, die Bildung von so etwas wie Welt bereits entschieden ist. Zwei unterschiedliche Signalwesen präsentieren sich schließlich im letzten Kapitel der Arbeit. Während das sonische Signal via Computer den Raum zeitigt, offenbart sich im, "The Duality of Sound" is dedicated to the media-technological presentation of spatiotemporal relations of time-critical processes. It uses the sonic signal to illustrate the central role of the measuring medium in relation to the understanding-of-the-world. First, the sonic signal is to be approached through information theory. The relationship between information and material or energetic physics will be explored to couple the signal with the generation of the understanding-of-the-world. Subsequently, the signal in the act of measurement is addressed. The double-slit experiment serves as an example here, as it represents the strict connection between the selected measuring apparatus and the revealed phenomenon, which contradicts’ classical’ physics. The second chapter will address how the location or momentum of an object of interest is measured. Following Heisenberg, a media-scientific interpretation of the act of measurement takes place here: the elaborated’ technological uncertainty principle’ shows that two media technological’ anatomy types’ limit the possibility of forming spatiotemporal relations. Following Karen Barad, it is argued that although the object of measurement has a body (sex), this is always found in the discourse (gender) of the subject. Accordingly, the medium of measurement can never be purely objective since the formation of the understanding-of-the-world is already decided with the choice of the measuring instrument. Finally, two different signal entities present themselves in the last chapter of this thesis. The sonic signal via the computer temporalizes space. In the case of the phonautograph, a character is revealed that emerges from the temporalization of space. In the end, the generation of understanding-of-the-world is revealed in a continuous or discontinuous guise; depending on the medium of measurement, the dual nature of the sonic signal is revealed.

Verschränkung ist eine Ressource unter dieser Einschränkung auf LOCC. Transformationen verschränkter Zustände mittels LOCC definieren somit eine physikalisch sinnvolle (partielle) Ordnung auf der Menge aller verschränkten Zustände. Das Studium von LOCC-Transformationen bietet daher einen Rahmen zur systematischen Untersuchung des Potentials verschränkter Zustände als Ressourcen in der Quanteninformationstheorie. Die Dissertation besteht aus drei Teilen. In Teil I führen wir zwei Klassen von operationellen Verschränkungsmaßen ein, das Source und das Accessible Entanglement, welche die Nützlichkeit eines Quantenzustands unter der Einschränkung auf LOCC charakterisieren. Furthermore, we study how spatially separated parties, e.g., laboratories in distant cities, can manipulate multipartite entangled states that have been distributed to them using “local operations assisted by classical communication” (LOCC). Entanglement is a resource under this restriction to LOCC and transformations of entangled states via LOCC induce a physically meaningful (partial) order on the set of entangled states. Investigations of such LOCC transformations, therefore, provide a rigorous framework to study the fundamental capabilities and limitations of entangled quantum states as resources in quantum information theory. The thesis is divided into three parts. In Part I we introduce two classes of operational entanglement measures, the source and the accessible entanglement, which characterize the usefulness of a quantum state under the restriction to LOCC. <> vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich eingehend mit der Möglichkeit einer eins-zu-eins Abbildung von Ladungsdichten als Ergebnis der zeitabhängigen Schrödingergleichung auf externe Potentiale. Die Existenz einer solchen Abbildung wird durch das Runge-Gross Theorem sichergestellt und bildet die Grundlage für die zeitabhängige Dichtefunktionaltheorie. Nach einer Einführung in die notwendigen mathematischen Konzepte wird die übliche Abbildung von Potentialen auf die Wellenfunktion als Lösung der Schrödingergleichung untersucht, wobei besonderes Augenmerk auf Sobolev-Regularität gelegt wird. Diese Untersuchung wird noch weiter verfeinert, da auch die Frage nach funktionaler Differenzierbarkeit der Lösungen bezüglich des Potentials auftritt, was eine Verbindung zur linearen Antworttheorie eröffnet. Schließlich wird nach einer Einleitung zur allgemeinen Dichtefunktionaltheorie die Abbildung in die umgekehrte Richtung, von Dichten auf Potentiale und damit die Schrödingergleichung mit einer festen Anfangswellenfunktion umkehrend, definiert. Neben dem ursprünglichen Runge-Gross Theorem wird dies durch Anwendung eines neuartigen Fixpunktverfahrens erreicht. Such a mapping is provided by the Runge-Gross theorem and lies at the very core of time-dependent density functional theory. After introducing the necessary mathematical concepts, the usual mapping “there” - from potentials to wave functions as solutions to the Schrödinger equation - is revisited paying special attention to Sobolev regularity. This is scrutinised further when the question of functional differentiability of the solution with respect to the potential arises, a concept related to linear response theory. Finally, after a brief introduction to general density functional theory, the mapping "back again" - from densities to potentials thereby inverting the Schrödinger equation for a fixed initial state - is defined. Apart from utilising the original Runge-Gross proof this is achieved through a fixed-point procedure.
