The aim of this study was to investigate how female authors of autobiographies from the 2010s experience and describe their own turning points and what has contributed to their recovery from a self-perceived eating disorder in a Swedish context. The method chosen for this study was a qualitative document analysis where four autobiographies have been analyzed. In analyzing our results two theoretical approaches were implemented: symbolic interactionism and emotion sociology. We found that the importance of close individuals has played a central role in the recovery process. However, relatives could also have a negative impact on the individual and contribute to a negative body image. Furthermore, the study shows that professional healthcare contacts played a significant role, both in identifying signs of eating disorders and starting treatment, but also through conversational support. Nonetheless in this study, adequate knowledge among professionals has been found to be an important aspect. Finally, a recurring theme in the study has been the ability to find oneself again and to create a new identity beyond the eating disorder problem.

Previous research highlighted patients 'and relatives' experiences after stroke. The accumulated knowledge clarifies which nursing measures nurses use to support patients' recovery process. Purpose: to describe the nurse's experience in supporting the patient's recovery after a stroke. Method: Systematic literature study with descriptive synthesis. Results: It emerged that seeing the patient as unique was significant, and to have a functioning recovery process, patients must be given sufficient time and be well informed. Showing honesty also resulted in nurses being able to build trust with patients and relatives. The nurses' support in the form of guidance and individually adapted information as well as physical, emotional, social support was important for patients. A positive communication between patients and nurses contributed to a good care relationship that resulted in success in the recovery process, thus relatives were a resource for patients' recovery process. Conclusion: Patients suffering from stroke may suffer and experience pain after the life change. Patients can also experience well-being in their health, this by having a well-functioning recovery process. Nurses with their unique role and professional knowledge can support the recovery process.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to explore the bodily experience of fibromyalgia patients' recovery process, focusing on the changes that, from the patients' perspective, were significant in the progression towards health. Methods: Eight women who had recovered from fibromyalgia participated in the study. Data was gathered and analyzed using qualitative, phenomenological and arts-based methods, combining different levels of description: a narrative level using semi-structured interviews; an embodied level using the micro-phenomenological interview and body mapping, and a non-verbal level also provided by the body mapping method. Results: Four overarching themes were identified from the qualitative data collected from the semi-structured interviews. These themes outlined a process of sense-making that transformed the relationship participants had with their symptoms and with themselves. The micro-phenomenological interview allowed identification of the micro-dynamics of specific moments of new understanding within the recovery process, demonstrating that getting in touch with bodily sensations, whether pleasant, unpleasant or neutral, by becoming aware of them and pondering or relaxing into them, allows for changes that appear crucial to the recovery process. The body map enabled us to include a pre-reflective, sensorial and non-verbal level of description that complemented the analysis of the micro-phenomenological interview. The maps portrayed two bodies: one representing the state of the participant before the new understanding and the other the state after it. The two bodies contrasted in various aspects, such as shape, color, posture, as well as the associated feelings these images produced. Purpose: To observe and describe nurse-caregiver communication of hospital-to-home transition information at the time of discharge at a tertiary children's hospital of Western Australia. Design and methods: A multi-stage qualitative descriptive design involved 31 direct clinical observations of hospital-to-home transition experiences, and semi-structured interviews with 20 caregivers and 12 nurses post-discharge. Eleven caregivers were re-interviewed 2–4 weeks post-discharge. Transcripts of audio recordings and field notes were analyzed using content analysis. Medical records were examined to determine patients' usage of hospital services within 30 days of discharge. Results: Four themes emerged from the content analysis: structure of hospital-to-home transition information; transition information delivery; readiness for discharge; and recovery experience post-hospital discharge. Examination of medical records found seven patients presented to the Emergency Department within 2–19 days post-discharge, of which three were readmitted. Primary caregivers of three readmitted patients all had limited English proficiency. Conclusion: The study affirmed the complexity of transitioning pediatric patients from hospital to home. Inconsistent content and delivery of information impacted caregivers' perception of readiness for discharge and the recovery experience. Practice implications: Nurses need to assess readiness for discharge to identify individual needs using a validated tool. Inclusion of education on hospital-to-home transition information and discharge planning/process is required in the orientation program for junior and casual staff to ensure consistency of information delivery. Interpreter services should be arranged for caregivers with limited language proficiency throughout the hospital stay especially when transition information is being provided. Nurses should apply teach-back techniques to improve caregivers' comprehension of information.

Dynamic mechanical relaxation is a fundamental tool to understand the mechanical and physical properties of viscoelastic materials like glasses. Mechanical spectroscopy shows that the high-entropy bulk metallic glass (La30Ce30Ni10Al20Co10) exhibits a distinct ß-relaxation feature. In the present research, dynamic mechanical analysis and thermal creep were performed using this bulk metallic glass material at a temperature domain around the ß relaxation. The components of total strain, including ideal elastic strain, anelastic strain, and viscous-plastic strain, were analyzed based on the model of shear transformation zones (STZs). The stochastic activation of STZ contributes to the anelastic strain. When the temperature or external stress is high enough or the timescale is long enough, the interaction between STZs induces viscous-plastic strain. Aim: Studies on recovery from alcohol and other drugs (AOD) among young adults are scarce. In the present study, young adults, previously interviewed with a focus on their recovery process shortly after they completed treatment, were re-interviewed five years later focusing on their recovery process during the last five years in relation to their former AOD problems, other problems and processes of change. Methods: Twenty-one young adults were interviewed: 16 women and five men aged between 25 and 33 years. After transcribing the interviews, the material was analysed thematically. Results: Three overall themes emerged: previous problems, mental illness and the search for identity. The results were discussed in relation to recovery capital, primarily focusing on human and social capital. The results indicate that the group in focus often needs professional support for mental health issues in order to reach a stable recovery. Conclusions: Since the problems described were heterogeneous, this client group might benefit from individual treatment and extended support after treatment. Further, the results indicate that the established period of five years for a stable recovery might need to be extended for young adults.

The study focus on how clients with co-occurring problems describe the importance of treatment factors for the recovery process and how these descriptions relates to professional descriptions. 40 client interviews and 15 interviews with professionals were conducted. Three major themes emerge in the results: medication, methods and the professionals. The amount of contact with psychiatry and social services that these clients often have through the years can lead to a ‘learned passivity’ towards their own recovery process. Thus, an important task for the professionals is to break through passivity and isolation. This can be done by treating the client like an ‘ordinary fellow human’. Besides the actual professional tasks, small things seem to be important; greeting the person, paying respect when entering some one’s home, etc. When a social network is missing, the professional can sometime fill this gap, but if this is to promote recovery, it seem important that the professional social network is used as a bridge to other social networks. The professionals as a group, including the environment, emerge as important. Accordingly, to be supportive as a group, and be able to act like ‘social role models’, the professionals need to have working alliances also between themselves. The environment can also offer tools that can be used for socialization that interfere with the ‘learned passivity’ and instead includes and respects the client. This, together with the results highlighting the importance of creating safe milieus, confident and secure professionals, puts focus on how the professional work is organized.

Studien har en kvalitativ ansats med tematisk analys som analysmetod och webbaserad enkät som insamlingsmetod. Sammanlagt deltog 20 personer i studien, 19 kvinnor och 1 man. Resultatet visade att informanterna rapporterade en upplevd svårighet att hantera traumat under barndomen då misshandeln pågick samt en upplevelse av bristande stöd från den vuxna omgivningen. Många av informanterna ansåg att detta kan ha varit anledningen till att de hamnade i destruktiva relationer i vuxen ålder. Resultatet visade även på att informanterna beskrev olika återhämtningsprocesser och baserat på deras beskrivningar gick det inte att antyda en återhämtningsprocess förrän de tagit sig ur destruktiva relationer. Informanterna beskrev att barndomstraumat har följt med dem hela livet och återhämtningen var en ständigt pågående process., The aim of this study was to describe individuals’ different experiences of childhood trauma and their recovery process. This was explored through a webbased survey. This study has a qualitative approach with a thematic analysis as a data analysis method and a web-based survey as a data collection method. In total 20 individuals participated, 19 females and 1 male. The result showed that the participants reported an experienced difficulty in coping with the trauma during childhood because of an ongoing abuse, but also due to the experience of lack of adult support. Many of the participants considered that this might have been the reason why they ended up in destructive relationships in adulthood. The result also showed that the participants described different recovery processes and based on their answers, the recovery process could not be detected until they were free from abuse. The participants described that the childhood trauma had big impact on their lives in adulthood and recovering from it was an ongoing process.

Oil is known as a major source of energy and an economical source of the word. However, depleting world’s crude oil resources has caused increase attention toward heavy oils and bitumen to supply the demand for fuels and petrochemical feedstock. Different techniques have been employed to extract crude and heavy oil with high possible efficiency. As conventional recovery methods currently used have become less efficient, solvent extraction seems to be a suitable alternative and a most cost-efficient recovery process for all recovery methods which requires no water and the solvent is recoverable and reusable. Solvent extraction followed by adsorption also has been found to be one of the competitive processes for recycling of used lubricating oil. Basis of solvent extraction is injecting diluents like naphtha or light oil and some vaporized hydrocarbon solvent, usually, ethane, propane, or butane to the pump to reduce the of the heavy oil to make pumping easier. The petroleum solvents are light section produced from crude oil which is containing paraffinic and aromatic hydrocarbons of petroleum in different ratios. It is obvious that solvent costs and availability are two important factors that determine the economics of such processes. This review paper was aimed to present some information about petroleum solvent and the process in which this solvent is used.

A text analysis and coding of the autobiographies did then generate in ten different themes: acceptance, the individuals own urge and own strategies, return to work, friends and family, professionals, sick leave, the recovery rollercoaster, hard to accept the situation, and lacking of support. The studies main result show that recovery is something very individual that claim the individuals own urge and will, but at the same time the individual would not completely make it on her own. Different social relations, as professionals and family, has shown to be very important as well.

The aim of this study has been to highlight individuals own experiences of the recovery process from exhaustion disorder. By taking part of their experiences advancement and obstructive, internal plus external factors that has been decisive for their recovery could be identified. To answer the aim a selection of six autobiographies about recovery from exhaustion disorder was made. The purpose of this study was to establish the vulnerabilities of the security control measures that are being used at Impala Platinum mines and refinery to prevent the theft of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs). It is important to ensure that the security control measures in place are effective and efficient in preventing the occurrence of such theft. The research examined the security risk management approach to the prevention of theft of PGMs and the causes of theft of PGMs by organised crime syndicates operating in South Africa and abroad. The study found that Impala Platinum employees, in collusion with contractors and members of mine security services, are involved in the theft of PGMs. To achieve the goals and objective of the research study, effective security control measures were identified that will help Impala Platinum mines and refinery to overcome the risks and challenges related to the theft of PGMs.

Although the notion that recovery is a process rather than a state lies at the heart of recovery theory, the continuous cycle of depletion and replenishment of resources itself has not yet been investigated empirically. In the present article, I therefore build on recovery theory and on evidence from chronobiological research and adopt a temporal research approach that allows investigating change trajectories in fatigue over the course of the day. Furthermore, the role of sleep quality and psychological detachment in these change trajectories is investigated. Hypotheses are tested in an experience-sampling study involving 133 employees who were asked to provide fatigue ratings 4 times a day over 5 consecutive workdays. Growth curve analyses revealed that on average fatigue decreased in the morning, reaching a nadir around midday and then increased until bedtime. Additionally, daily sleep quality explained variation in individuals' fatigue change trajectories: When sleep quality was low, next day fatigue decreased between morning and midday and then increased again until bedtime; when sleep quality was high, fatigue remained stable until midday and then increased again between the end of work and bedtime. AIM - The aim of this study is to describe and analyze how active AA members initiated change towards sobriety and to investigate what was important in this change process. DESIGN -Eight AA members were interviewed according to a qualitative semi-structured interview guide. The analysis is based on a transtheoretical model of change and different motivational theories about the self. RESULTS –Several respondents realised early that their alcohol consumption was problematic, but this did not result in any corrective action to change their drinking habits. Most of the respondents continued questioning their alcohol consumption one or several times after the initial problematisation, before it led to sobriety. The result suggests that there are many different factors attributed for change, which can be categorised into several themes. CONCLUSIONS –The problematisation of alcohol abuse is a foundation for the later sobriety. Factors that were active during the change process can help the individual to begin problematize their relationship to alcohol. Moreover it’s usually not a single factor that plays a role in initiating change, but rather a complex relationship of various factors that eventually lead to sobriety.

Background: A rapid improvement in the care of myocardial infarction (MI) in the emergency services has been witnessed in recent years. There is, however, a lack of understanding of the factors involved in a successful recovery process, after the initial stages of emergency care among patients, and in particular those who are women. Both preventive and promotive perspectives should be taken into consideration for facilitating the recovery process of women after a MI. Aim: To explore how women’s recovery processes are promoted after a first MI. Methods: A qualitative content analysis was used. Findings: The women’s recovery process is a multidirectional process with a desire to develop and approach a new perspective on life. The women’s possibility to approach new perspectives on life incorporates how they handle the three dimensions: behaviour, that is, women’s acting and engaging in various activities; social, that is, how women receive and give support in their social environment; and psychological, that is, their way of thinking, reflecting, and appreciating life. The purpose of the study was, through a qualitative approach, to get a deeper understanding and greater knowledge of how adult patients, who have recovered from an eating disorder, perceived and reacted to their illness and recovery process. The chosen method was thematic analysis and ten themes were identified. Eight women, who had recovered from the diagnoses of anorexia nervosa (AN) or bulimia nervosa (BN), or eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS), were interviewed using a semi-structured interview template. The study found that the illness preceded by a crisis, a separation or a change of role, which triggered a need for a more general change. The path to the treatment was described as a tedious and long process with obstacles such as lack of insight, ambivalence about asking for help and shame about their illness. The study clearly shows that the personal motivation in combination with the support from the surroundings and professionals were the main factors that promoted recovery. In addition, the study revealed the importance of non-valued attitudes, participation in treatment sessions and the experience of being seen as a whole person. The results are discussed in the final section in relation to previous research and relevant theories., Syftet med studien var att genom en kvalitativ ansats få en djupare förståelse av och ökad kunskap om hur vuxna patienter som tillfrisknat från en ätstörning uppfattade och förhöll sig till sin sjukdom och tillfrisknandeprocess. Åtta kvinnor som tillfrisknat från diagnoserna Anorexia Nervosa, (AN) Bulimia Nervosa (BN) eller Ätstörning UNS, djupintervjuades via en semistrukturerad intervjumall. I studien framkom att sjukdomsdebuten föregicks av någon kris, separation eller rollförändring, vilket utlöste ett behov av att förändra. Vägen till behandling beskrevs av de deltagande som en mödosam och lång process med hinder i form av bristande sjukdomsinsikt, ambivalens inför att be om hjälp samt skamkänslor inför den egna problematiken. Tydligt i studien framkommer att den inre motivationen i kombination med omgivningen och professionella stöd var de faktorer som främst befrämjade tillfrisknandet. Sammanfattningsvis framkom även vikten av icke värderande bemötande, delaktighet i behandling samt upplevelsen att bli sedd som en hel individ. Resultaten diskuteras i den avslutande delen i förhållande till tidigare forskning och relevanta psykologiska teorier.

Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted at the end of the program with a subsample of 11 participants from the exercise group. Quantitative results showed improvements in fitness and different aspects of quality of life, such as physical function, mental health, vitality, social function, and general health perception. Qualitative results showed specific physical benefits (decreased injuries and muscle pain, decreased weight, and increased vitality with improvement in activities of daily living), psychological benefits (forgetting about everyday problems, improved mood, decreased stress and anxiety), social benefits, and a reduction in craving. The results of this study provide insight into the importance of exercise for the quality of life and recovery process of drug-dependent patients.

The study found that the illness preceded by a crisis, a separation or a change of role, which triggered a need for a more general change. The path to the treatment was described as a tedious and long process with obstacles such as lack of insight, ambivalence about asking for help and shame about their illness. The study clearly shows that the personal motivation in combination with the support from the surroundings and professionals were the main factors that promoted recovery. In addition, the study revealed the importance of non-valued attitudes, participation in treatment sessions and the experience of being seen as a whole person. The results are discussed in the final section in relation to previous research and relevant theories., Syftet med studien var att genom en kvalitativ ansats få en djupare förståelse av och ökad kunskap om hur vuxna patienter som tillfrisknat från en ätstörning uppfattade och förhöll sig till sin sjukdom och tillfrisknandeprocess. Som metod användes tematisk analys och tio teman identifierades. Åtta kvinnor som tillfrisknat från diagnoserna Anorexia Nervosa, (AN) Bulimia Nervosa (BN) eller Ätstörning UNS, djupintervjuades via en semistrukturerad intervjumall. I studien framkom att sjukdomsdebuten föregicks av någon kris, separation eller rollförändring, vilket utlöste ett behov av att förändra. Vägen till behandling beskrevs av de deltagande som en mödosam och lång process med hinder i form av bristande sjukdomsinsikt, ambivalens inför att be om hjälp samt skamkänslor inför den egna problematiken. Tydligt i studien framkommer att den inre motivationen i kombination med omgivningen och professionella stöd var de faktorer som främst befrämjade tillfrisknandet. Sammanfattningsvis framkom även vikten av icke värderande bemötande, delaktighet i behandling samt upplevelsen att bli sedd som en hel individ. Resultaten diskuteras i den avslutande delen i förhållande till tidigare forskning och relevanta psykologiska teorier.

Purpose: The aim was to describe experiences of disability in everyday life and managing the recovery process two years after falling ill with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Design: Qualitative interview study. Methods: Interviews were conducted with 35 persons (22 male, mean age 50 years) two years after the onset of Guillain-Barré syndrome. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed using content analysis. Results: The analysis revealed four categories and an overall theme: ‘Striving for balance in everyday life’. The participants described persistent lived body restrictions that affected their arms, legs, and face. Bodily symptoms and loss of energy limited or restricted many everyday activities. In connection with healthcare, both satisfaction and feeling vulnerable in a critical situation were described. Experiences of the recovery process varied. The participants described acceptance and reappraisal of a new life situation despite their limitations, and having gained the knowledge that life can change suddenly. However, they also expressed disappointment following an overly positive prognosis in the early stages, and over a continuous wait for recovery. For some participants life had returned to as before. Conclusion: The participants experienced limitations in everyday life and decreased functioning in several parts of the body. The recovery process may still be ongoing two years after onset. The overall aim of this thesis was to explore and describe women’s recovery after a first myocardial infarction (MI) from an organisational, a relational and an individual perspective. In this thesis a longitudinal, explorative and descriptive design combining both quantitative (papers I-II) and qualitative (papers III-IV) methods has been used. Data was collected from healthcare professionals at 18 acute hospitals (paper I), which on two occasions answered a questionnaire dealing with cardiac rehabilitation efforts. From these 18 hospitals, 240 women who had suffereda first MI (paper II) were consecutively chosen to answer a questionnaire on three occasions on the subject of social support and social network. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse data over time. Paper III and IV had an exploratory and descriptive design based on an inductive, qualitative content analysis approach. Interviews were conducted with 20 cardiac rehabilitation nurses (CRN) (paper III) and with 26 women suffering a first MI (paper IV). The results showed that patients with MI, and their next of kin, were offered a well-functioning cardiac rehabilitation on both measurement occasions. None of the hospitals offered a CRP that was specifically designed for women (paper I). The women perceived that the extent of general support, support from relatives, and professional support changed positively over time (paper II). The CRNs experienced that women’s recovery was influenced by their ability to cope with the stresses of life, if they wanted to be involved in their own personal care and how they related to themselves, and their opportunities to receive support (paper III). Women experienced that ability to approach the new perspective of life depended on how they embraced the three dimensions; behaviour, i.e. women’s acting and engaging in various activities, social i.e. how women receive and give support in their social environment, and psychological i.e. their way of thin

Denna studie syftar till att öka förståelsen för hur boendestödjarna beskriver sitt vardagsarbete med brukarnas återhämtning på två boenden med särskild service inom Socialpsykiatriska utförarenheten i Skärholmens Stadsdelsförvaltning. Vi har intervjuat åtta boendestödjare. Valet av respondenter har gjorts utifrån ett kvoturval, fyra boendestödjare från Frösätra samt fyra från Solholmen. Vi har gjort semi-strukturerade intervjuer med samtliga boendestödjarna och utformat en intervjuguide. Intervjuguiden berör fenomen hur personalen på boendena beskriver begreppet återhämtning, hur de arbetar med återhämtning, hur återhämtning nås samt hur personal beskriver sin roll. Resultatet av studien påvisar att återhämtning innebär att den enskilde har möjligheten att återhämta sig från det kaotiska tillståndet samt att den enskilde tar makten över sitt liv. Återhämtning innebär utveckling och att den enskilde är självständig trots att en del av symptomen är varaktiga. Arbetet med återhämtning handlar om att lita på den enskildes förmåga och inte ge upp hoppet. Att se människan bakom symtomen och sjukdomen och därefter lyfta fram det friska. Återhämtning nås genom att den enskilde själv medverkar i sin egen återhämtning, är aktiv och villig att åstadkomma en förändring., This study aims to increase understanding of how housing supporters describe their everyday work with the users' recovery at two sheltered housing, in Social Psychiatry perform purity of Skärholmens District Administration. We interviewed eight housing supporters. The selection of respondents was made based on a quota sample, four housing supporters from Frösätra and four from Solholmen. We did semi-structured interviews with all housing supporters and designed an interview guide. The interview guide affects phenomena such as how staff describes the concept of recovery and work on recovery. How the recovery is accessed and how staff describes their role. The results of this study demonstrated that recovery means that the individual has the ability to recover from the chaotic state, and that the individual will take charge of their lives. Recovery involves the development that the individual is autonomous although some symptoms are lasting. The work of recovery is about trusting the individual capacity and to not give up hope, to see the person behind the symptoms and the disease and highlight the healthy. Recovery achieved by the individual themselves take part in their own recovery, are active and want to make a change.

This paper seeks to show the deforestation rate in Mexico based on land use and vegetation changes data from 1976 to 2007 using the official data published by INEGI. The results of the National Forest Inventory for 2000 were added to make a cut and the process was analyzed in two stages from 1976 to 2000 and from 2000 to 2007. Moreover, a polygon level analysis was carried out over the forest with secondary vegetation to know if they are coming from a recovery process or from a degradation process. The results show that the change rates are lower in the 2000-2007 than the 1976-2000 periods, but the annual loss of forest are around the 500 000 ha. For the complete period it was found a forest annual loss of 534 707 ha. The deforestation official data are sub valued since 2006 because they discount the 100% of secondary vegetation, when the real amount of recovery process is over 10% to 13%. The deforestation official data were recalculated from 2006 on, and the new results match with the amount of 500 000 ha per year. The principal use for the deforested areas is still the rainfed agriculture., El presente trabajo busca conocer el avance de la deforestación en México, a partir del análisis del cambio de uso de suelo y vegetación entre la Serie I, 1976, y la Serie IV, 2007, del INEGI. Se incorporan los resultados obtenidos en el Inventario Nacional Forestal del 2000 para hacer un corte por sub-periodos (1976-2000 y 2000-2007). Además, se realiza un análisis al nivel de polígono sobre la dinámica de las superficies forestales con vegetación secundaria, con la finalidad de establecer si se trata de un proceso de recuperación o de alteración forestal. Los resultados encontrados demuestran que las tasas de cambio han disminuido en el periodo 2000-2007, pero que la superficie forestal disminuye anualmente en alrededor de 500 000 ha. Para el periodo 1976-2007, se encontró una pérdida anual de 534 707 ha. Los datos oficiales de deforestación muestran una subvaluación a partir de 2006, ya que se descuenta 100% de la superficie ocupada por vegetación secundaria, cuando en la realidad el proceso de recuperación es de entre 10% y 13% de dicha superficie. Con el dato ajustado del proceso de recuperación se recalcularon las cifras oficiales publicadas a partir de 2006, mostrando consistencia en relación con la estabilización de la superficie anual deforestada. El destino principal de la superficie deforestada sigue siendo la agricultura de temporal.
