- Abstract
There is a lack of consensus in the area of clinical psychology intervention, and evidence-based guidelines created by a central authority (e.g. NICE) have failed to stimulate widespread consensus. The absence of consensus arguably contributes to stilted scientific progress, subjectivity in intervention choice, intervention incoherence, and confusion in clinical training. We propose a solution derived from the decentralised cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. Our u2018intervention blockchainu2019 involves the chronological sign-posting of scientific progress surrounding clinical psychology intervention (block-by-block), with each block included only after the indication of mass consensus, via a distributed web portal that enables decentralised decision-making.The web portal would be open to editing and voting by any of its members; akin to social platforms such as Wikipedia and Reddit. The intervention blockchain could guide clinical practice in an efficient and robust manner, in the absence of input from u2018trustedu2019 central authorities and clinical guidelines. A first step will be the development of a prototype web portal.
