The problems of children living in difficult circumstances, including street children, can be better addressed when treated under a policy framework with carefully stipulated strategies. Although a separate policy of street children is lacking, Ethiopia has tried to mainstream the issues of vulnerable children under the two relevant policies of National Children’s Policy and National Social Protection Policy. Whereas the issue of vulnerable children has been slightly discussed under the umbrella of people in need of social protection, detailed discussion along with clearly stipulated implementation strategies for children in difficult circumstances has been issued in the National Children’s Policy of Ethiopia. A critical analysis of the policy has been made in this paper with special focus on policy issues of children in difficult circumstances and implementation strategies designed to improve their situation. The analysis was undertaken using normative policy analysis approach by focusing on the substantive contents of the policy with value neutrality. The paper involves a brief overview of the contents of the policy, and critical examination of the policy from the vantage points of its underlying assumptions, cost-effectiveness, equity, feasibility, acceptability from the public, stakeholders’ participation, and consideration of the situation of children living in diverse contexts. In addition, it includes criticism of the policy and its implementation strategies. Ultimately, the paper ends with suggesting substantive recommendations that would assist the policy to better achieve its objectives and become compatible with changing scenarios at local, national, and global levels.

This paper suggests that a technique for close textual reading used in history, the classics and theology for two almost two centuries, the gobbet, can be repurposed as a method of developing media literacy in higher education students in other disciplines. The gobbet is a bite-sized extract from a longer set text learners have studied that acts as an entry to the whole text, permitting critical, contextualised evaluation to take place. As a pedagogical tool, the gobbet can be a counterweight to discontinuous reading practices and abstracted information sources. It is highly effective for analysing contemporary media and discourse, in producing articulate learners confident in their ability to analyse information, and in developing transferrable critical and communication skills for scholarly, career and personal use. This paper situates the gobbet, reframed for modern use in an expanded range of scholarly disciplines, as a learner-centric method that develops agency and independence within a phenomenographic pedagogical frame.

Organisation theory mobilizes fundamental notions such as the individual in order to understand and explain the organizational phenomena it studies. However, this mobilization is sometimes done without ever proceeding to a radical critical work in the Nietzschean sense of the foundations of this notion. By using the Nietzschean conception of the individual, the objective of this paper is precisely to expose the unthinkings that underlie the notion of the individual in order to draw out the contributions and implications for organization theory. In this paper, we argue that the Nietzschean critique of the individual is an invitation for organization theory research to consider every individual as embodying a plural identity.

The chiropractic profession is represented by over 100,000 practitioners and more than 50 teaching programs worldwide. Intraprofessional debates about the profession’s identity date to the early 1900s. More recently this debate has emerged as a discourse in the chiropractic peer-reviewed literature, which includes papers about chiropractic published in cross-disciplinary journals. This thesis set out to discover what could be determined about the profession and its dominant ideas and schools of thought from a critical analysis of the chiropractic peer-reviewed identity literature by examining it for flaws, strengths, citation patterns, and impact., Methods: This thesis is guided by Integral Philosophy, which informs the Integral research strategy of inquiry, setting the boundaries for the parallel mixed methods and sequential mixed methods designs. Research methods include citation network analysis, thematic analysis, a novel critical analysis method (the CANDLE method), and a novel interpretation method (quadrangulation). New methods and integrations of methods were included to address the requirements of the Integral research strategy., Results: The thesis constructed the chiropractic identity literature citation network, determined the most central papers, determined a coauthor network, and mapped the main research path. Objective methods were undertaken using thematic analysis to enact four themes and critical analysis to assess for bias, perspective, assumptions, scholarship, and intertextuality. Scholarship and bias ratings were completed on 10% of the most influential 300 in a network of 5,280 papers. A majority of papers analyzed included bias, flaws, and a total of 339 fallacies. The impact of these ratings on the quality and integrity of the citation network is substantial., Conclusion: An Integral interpretation of the results led to three meta-inferences, 1) The peer-review process enacting the chiropractic identity literature citation network is broken., 2) The intellectual field of the chiropractic profession in its scholarly dissertation on identity is not coherent with the field of science, which may represent incomplete professionalization., 3) The chiropractic identity literature does not functionally fit within science because too many influential papers fail to cogently portray truth, and thus this component of the professional chiropractic literature does not meet the expectation of a scientific discipline., Ultimately, this thesis concludes that truth can be ascertained from a complex set of linguistic data guided by eight primary perspectives and methodological families using an Integral Methodological framework. Using multiple perspectives to enact truth claims arising from the results of multiple methodologies, the myriad phenomena have been integrated as a complex whole.

This paper aims to describe the common situations happening in an actual classroom encounter in a Philippine school. It also points out the external expectations of the fresh graduates of education from the training to the actual real teaching. This article used an auto-ethnographical study that highlights the personal experience of the author to highlight the events of most teachers. It was noted that teaching is not only all about the subject matter but more about building a relationship with the students as well. Therefore, building relationships with students requires approaches to be used, reflective stage, observation, and personal encounters as the best way to start learning. Due to global warming and environmental issues in recent times, the world's concern is oriented nowadays toward discovering new renewable energy sources and energy management methods. Particularly, researchers are emphasizing on heat recovery technologies and applications in both residential and industrial sectors. While there are plenty of review papers in the literature on the subject matter, there is always a necessity to update the literature with the new advancements in the field. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to present a recent and complete systematic comprehensive review along with critical analysis and potential recommendations related to waste heat recovery (WHR) methodologies and applications. In methodologies, heat exchangers, Rankine cycle and thermoelectric generators are studied. Moreover, applications of WHR are discussed in automotive, and in both residential and industrial zones. Studies show that the optimization of heat recovery systems lead to significant magnitudes of energy savings. On the other hand, hybrid heat recovery systems prove to be the most trending research subject nowadays. For future work, the negative effect of backpressure should be taken into consideration when recovering energy from exhaust gases of engines and power generators, and more importance should be given to hybrid systems.

Resumo Os estudos de gênero cultural e a pesquisa feminista têm contribuído de diversas formas para a conscientização sobre questões de identidades de gênero, discriminação e exclusão. Na sociedade pós-moderna, no entanto, esses ‘ismos’ ainda estão presentes tanto em discursos institucionais como em privados. Em muitas partes do mundo, e no Brasil principalmente, há um retrocesso considerável em termos de visões conservadoras sobre questões de gênero social, materializadas em diferentes formas semióticas de se fazer sentidos. O objetivo principal deste artigo é o de discutir as maneiras sutis pelas quais o sexismo banal e a violência linguística são manifestadas em práticas político-discursivas. Combinando ferramentas teóricas da Análise Crítica do Discurso e da Análise Semiótica, discutirei os insultos contra mulheres e minorias produzidos pelo atual presidente do Brasil, Jair Bolsonaro. In this paper we carry out an analysis of the feature film The second mother (MUYLAERT, 2015) with an emphasis on the figure of the pool and its symbolism in the narrative of the movie through the theoretical framework of authors linked to the study of image and art. We take as a starting point the understanding of cinema as a documentary registry of its time which allows us to reflect on the world it portrays in a historical perspective. From this initial paradigm driven by Kracauer's theory (1960) and from previous thoughts by Schopenhauer (2014), we draw parallels between the figure of the pool present in the film and the concept of dialectical image — derived from the reading of Didi-Huberman (1998) — given the bond between the characters and their social and political context in the Brazilian imaginary. En este trabajo realizamos un análisis de la película Una segunda madre (MUYLAERT, 2015) con énfasis en la figura de la piscina y su simbología en la narrativa de la obra a través del marco teórico de autores vinculados al estudio de la imagen y el arte. Tomamos como punto de partida la comprensión del cine como registro documental de su época, que nos permite reflejar sobre el mundo que retrata en una perspectiva histórica. A partir de este paradigma inicial impulsado por la teoría de Kracauer (1960) y por reflexiones previas de Schopenhauer (2014), trazamos paralelismos entre la figura de la piscina presente en la película y el concepto de imagen dialéctica — derivado de la lectura de Didi-Huberman (1998) — dada la trama de relaciones entre los personajes y su contexto político y social en la realidad brasileña y en su imaginario. Neste trabalho realizamos uma análise do filme Que horas ela volta? (MUYLAERT, 2015) com ênfase na figura da piscina e em sua simbologia na narrativa da obra, por meio do referencial teórico de autores vinculados ao estudo da imagem e da arte. Tomamos como ponto de partida a compreensão do cinema como um registro documental de seu tempo, que nos permite refletir sobre o mundo que retrata em uma perspectiva histórica.
