Práce představuje 23 vybraných politických událostí, které se odehrávaly v Československu a Sovětském svazu a byly pro proces změny stěžejní, a analyzuje, jakým způsobem o těchto událostech státní televize informovala. This thesis examines the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on streaming services and their users. It aims to shed light on how the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the government measures and lockdowns that stifled social life and locked people in their homes for weeks, affected the use of streaming platforms by their users. This thesis focuses on the main characteristics and types of streaming services, the basic concepts associated with them, and looks at the production of new content as well as their distribution models. The subsequent section discusses the coronavirus and its impact on social behaviour, and then in particular the impact on the film industry in terms of production, content, cinema and film festival operations and of course the streaming services themselves. The final segment of the thesis then analyses and interprets the data collected in the questionnaire survey. Respondents' answers provide the basis for finding solutions to the research questions, which identify which streaming services users use, how many they use concurrently, how much time they spend watching streaming content, what categories of content they watch, or in what ways they use the services, for example in terms of devices or in comparison to other types of media.

The bachelor thesis focuses on the trend of video on demand services, including the presentation of several examples. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on Dramox, a platform of this type oriented towards streaming theatrical performances. The thesis describes the origin of Dramox, its features and also includes a chapter on copyright in relation to the performing arts. The practical part of the bachelor thesis deals with in-depth interviews with representatives of the theatres involved in the project, their comprehensive view of the platform and the experience gained so far. The thesis does not address the commercial use of this medium and the business case, due to the theatres' and Dramox's disinterest in sharing internal data.

Media Presentation od Miroslav Zikmund and Jiri Hanzelka in the years 1947-1969 Abstract Author: Petr Horký Department: FSV UK, Department of Media Studies Supervisor: Prof. MgA. Martin Štoll, Ph.D. Miroslav Zikmund (1919-2021) and Jiří Hanzelka (1920-2003) were Czech travelers who, in the years 1947-1967, realized two great journeys together with the original plan of circumnavigating the globe. Their motivation was not only to get to know foreign countries, but to present and defend the commercial interests of Czechoslovakia, also to offer Czechoslovak goods and to establish new business contacts for their country. Already during the first journey, however, there was a communist coup in Czechoslovakia (1948) and most of the prearranged agreements were cancelled. However, because they sent engaging reports from their travels, and after their return their books and films received phenomenal success, soon this pair, known by the abbreviation H+Z (or Z+H), became one of the best-known public figures alongside athlete Emil Zátopek. At the time of the Prague Spring, i.e. until 1968, they performed publicly and openly, even some people could Jiří Hanzelka nominat for the presidency of the republic. The bachelor thesis Analysis of movie and television content referring to the Czech underground produced before 1989 focuses on the elements of communist propaganda in the nationwide campaign against the Czechoslovak underground in the 1970s. The thesis examines film and television content produced about the underground movement in the 1970s using qualitative discursive and content analysis method. In the theoretical part, I draw on literature and contemporary newspaper articles to add the historical context. I also present events that had an impact on the development of musical genres in socialist Czechoslovakia and the creation of the underground as a way of life. The next part presents a short history of the bands The Plastic People of the Universe and DG 307 and introduces the circumstances of the Kapela event of the clandestine State security. The last chapters of the theoretical part are devoted to propaganda and its use in film. In the practical part of the thesis, the film Atentát na kulturu (Assassination of Culture) and the episode Mimikry from the 30 případů majora Zemana (Thirty Cases of Major Zeman) TV series are analysed. This thesis focuses on methods of narration in czech podcasts. It contains an analysis of podcast formats in the form of drama podcast and documentary podcast in the context of the Czech podcast scene. The main goal of the paper is to define both of these genres, characterize their features and evaluate the ways in which they tell stories. A total of twelve podcasts were selected for analysis, on which the methods of narration will be examined. The selected podcasts are Zkouškový, Stopař, Neklid, Rozchod, Rituál, Hrana, Hranice násilí, Zhasni!, Svatebky, Základka, Pohřešovaná a Anatomie strachu, which will be analyzed on the basis of audionarratological analysis, which is based on verbal and non-verbal signs in the context of the audio medium. The results of the analysis of drama podcasts show that in their case sound design is very important. Primarily in the form of musical undertones and sound effects revealing other levels of storytelling. In all cases, their intention is to provide an authentic experience and build an attractive environment for listeners. This diploma thesis is dedicated to the media construct of the socially serious phenomenon of child abuse on the Internet in the context of the documentary Caught in the Net. The thesis aims to determine how the media reflect this issue and which aspects are accentuated. In the theoretical part of the thesis, serious social problems related to the phenomenon of child abuse on the Internet are summarized. Furthermore, the topic is placed in the context of new media, and terms such as media discourse or agenda setting are being defined here. In addition to the description of the applicable legislation related to the issue, the theoretical part of the work also contains a summary of previous studies and already implemented research investigations related to the phenomenon of child abuse. The document Caught in the Net is also briefly described. In the practical and analytical part of the work, the effort was devoted to the actual implementation of the research investigation and the subsequent evaluation and interpretation of the data found. This thesis examines Walt Disney's film work during World War II when he collaboratedwith the U.S. government to produce propaganda films that supported the war effort due to the financial crisis and future uncertainty. The use of animation during this period played an important role in promoting national pride, solidarity with allies or encouraging the public to take specific actions. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the concept of propaganda and the role of American animation as a significant propaganda tool during the war. Furthermore, it provides an overview of Walt Disney's life, career, and the various phases of his filmmaking. The practical part examines how the studio disseminated propaganda messages in its films through a qualitative analysis of three Disney films, analysing the conveyed messages, the portrayal of allies and enemies, and the techniques used. Through a study of Disney's wartime production, this thesis aims to contribute to the discourse on the function of film propaganda and the utilization of animation during this critical period in American history.

Violence can be handled in a variety of ways across a wide variety of film genres and specific grasps of genres. The goal of this thesis is to explore the different functions of violence in films and then show how different is the acceptance of violence by Western film critics, ie journalists, in the same genre with similar motivations of the main characters, but with a slightly different approach of these characters to the use of violence. In the theoretical part I will describe the terms of review, criticism, film and at the same time the function of violence in films across genres. The practical part will then show how the concept of violence and its function may differ even within one larger genre, although the motivations of the main characters may sometimes be similar. Certain parallels as well as differences in the use and function of violence will be discussed on the example of selected scenes from two action film series Ip Man and Rambo. Subsequently, the reactions to the manifestations of violence by film critics will be analyzed and in the end it will be assessed whether the critics reacted to the processing of violence at all, how they reacted to it and what generally follows from the critics' approach to various possibilities on depicting violence. The thesis Sexual Harassment in the Media on the Example of American Television Fox News aims to describe the sexual harassment affair in the American television company Fox News and compare it with similar cases in other American media organizations. The 2016 case led to the dismissal of Roger Ailes, the company's longtime director, and set off a wave of accusations of sexual harassment in other media, leading to the discrediting of several moderators and prominent figures in the American media. The main goal is to find out whether sexual harassment is a known, systemic phenomenon in America or not. Sexual harassment is also associated with the world-wide anti-sexual harassment movement Me Too, which emerged shortly after the Ailes scandal broke out. Therefore, I want to refute or confirm the hypothesis whether most cases of sexual harassment in the media began to appear only after Me Too became a world-famous movement. The main research method is a search of selected media, such as the New York Times, which has dealt extensively with the case. One of the main results should also be to find out whether harassment has always led to the release of the culprit and whether the victims have received apology or compensation from the media.

This diploma thesis tackles selected series of Czechoslovak Television from the normalization era. Series are examined on the basis of predefined categories. In this work, the author focuses on the everyday life of the main characters. We can classify the categories into two types - the personal and professional lives of the main characters are mainly examined. During the period of normalization, television viewers were exposed to everyday propaganda, which also became part of television production. In drama gendre, the protagonists of the series were to present patterns of behavior for the average socialist citizen. For this research were selected following series from normalization era: Muž na radnici (1976), Žena za pultem (1977), Nemocnice na kraji města (1978 and 1981) and Iženýrská odysea (1979). The author first introduces the reader to the historical context that is important for this topic. The analytical part of the work deals with the description and analysis of individual series and is answering to research questions. The reality of series is presented and than confronted with the reality of normalization era. The subject of this thesis is to examine the work and thinking of Czech documentary photographers, and to evaluate how they are dealing with authenticity not only in photography but also in their professions; as it is perceived as an objective way to capture reality. Photography is considered a proof of existence of the captured moments and that is why it is often perceived as a trustworthy medium. However, it is frequently neglected that photographs are moments detached from time and context, and that they are subject to the author's thinking and decision on how the situation is going to be captured and presented to the public. In the theoretical part, this thesis is dealing with the definition of authenticity and the perception of photography as an object that is credibly portraying reality of the world. These findings are consequently compared through opinions of six Czech documentary photographers, that were obtained through interviews.

The work concerns itself with the conceptual problems associated with documentary film, i.e. author documentary film. It presents and compares the views of theorists, filmmakers and journalists on the specifics of this creative discipline. The diploma thesis deals with a comparative analysis of two singing competitions, Zpívá celá rodina and Česko hledá Superstar. The comparison is based on the analysis of the shows Zpívá celá rodina and Česko hledá Superstar. Since the analysed television singing competitions were broadcast in different eras, significant differences between the two television shows can be observed. The theoretical part deals with television entertainment, the definition of television singing contest formats, as well as the description of media audiences and television fans. The thesis includes a brief description of the TV music shows and singing competitions that were available on the domestic market. The following comparative analysis is based on comparing the two mentioned singing competitions. The thesis presents the findings that the different eras contributed significantly to the form of the television singing competitions and also had a considerable influence on the preferences of the television audience. The thesis also provides a rationale as to why the the above mentioned shows were so popular with television audiences and whether the concept of Zpívá celá rodina could still be successful today. This bachelor thesis, entitled Comparison of movie adaptations of the lives of important personalities: Betrayer (2020), The Night of the Decision (1993), elaborates on different methods used in production of movies portraying lives of important historical figures. The theoretical part of this thesis delves into the research of evolution of the movie industry in modern history and the problematics related to historical figures. Furthermore it analyses various cinematic methods of expression and discusses the nature of artistic representation in relation to a historical event. The thesis thus attempts to answer the question of what are the possibilities of working in Czech cinematography related to historical themes. The role of the cinema industry has got stuck between a rock and a hard place lately. Before the corona crisis, cinemas were at its peak in the year 2019. Even if the corona crisis wouldn't happen, the decline of the industry was expected. But since the corona crisis came, streaming platforms were on the rise which hurt cinemas in a way from which they might not recover in the future. During the corona crisis, the cinema industry ceased completely. On the other hand, streaming services were in the spotlight. The corona crisis is for the most part over which means that cinemas are slowly gaining back its strength again. The goal of this thesis is to find out whether cinemas will or will not recover to its former state, whether they will be able to coexist next to the streaming services and if blockbusters will be the only movies to be shown in cinemas while the movies of a smaller budget will find its home on the streaming services. The objective of this master thesis is image of witches and their most frequent and well- known representation in films of the 20th and 21st centuries, with the research that is specifically focused on Czechoslovak/Czech film productions. Through qualitative image analysis and semiotic analysis, this thesis aims to answer the main research question: how witches are portrayed in modern film/tv/series productions and how are these images received by us, as viewers. The thesis should form a comprehensive, concise, scholarly overview of the representation of witches (not only) in our local cinematography. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and analytical part. The first part is consisting of a brief definition of the media, followed by witchcraft definition by an anthropological perspective and the depiction of witches in world cinematography. The analytical part is devoted to Czechoslovak/Czech films and is divided into 20th century films and 21st century films. In four pre-selected films, I examine several elements such as the characteristics or abilities of the witches, their appearance, and their relationship to other characters in the film, the state system during the creation of the film and direct signs referring to witchcraft, as well as indirect symbols and finally, audience reception....

This thesis focuses on Czech daily news podcasts produced by traditional media. It examines their features, differences, and brings a perspective of their listeners, too. The content of 61 episodes of three podcasts, Vinohradska 12, Studio N and E15 Cast, was first analyzed. Each podcast was characterized based on a predetermined set of criteria. These characteristics were then compared with the definitions of news and opinion journalism. A total of 20 semi-structured interviews were later conducted with listeners of the news podcasts. The research questions focused on their motivations, preferences, and potential changes in their relationship to other forms of news. The answers were then explained based on qualitative research using the grounded theory method. From all the data obtained, it is evident that news podcasts do not meet the current definitions of news, especially not the category of deep-dive podcasts. The survey revealed that most of the listeners approach daily news podcasts as a form of opinion journalism too. Furthermore, the three pillars of daily news podcast are: its host, content and finally technical qualities and post- production. According to the respondents, daily news podcasts do not replace the consumption of other news, but rather complement it.

This thesis primarily focuses on the analysis of film adaptations of selected serial killer cases which have taken place in the USA in the 1970s (The Zodiac Killer, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, David Berkowitz and Jeffrey Dahmer). Its main aim is to delineate the presentation of this pathological phenomenon, which especially came to prominence in the 1970s, through a classification built on the findings of narratology/literary theory. The presentation is then further realised through the comparison of the five sets of selected film adaptations with an emphasis on recording their differences and common features on the level of genre and themes, in the perspective of the narration (focalisation), in explicitness, in the capability of storytelling through images, and in the reconstruction of fictional worlds. A theoretical section, which defines basic terminology of the researched area and contains the case studies of the aforementioned five cases, also containing their realities, is an inherent component of the thesis. Through this method, it is possible to record movements of fictional worlds away from reality more effectively. Forests form an integral part of both the natural and cultural wealth of the Czech Republic. Similar to other countries, these forests are also plagued by various calamities. Various actors comment on these calamities in the media, between whom conflict sometimes arises due to conflicting opinions, attitudes, interests or experiences. It is media conflicts in the issue of calamities in Czech forests that are the subject of this diploma thesis. The introduction is followed by a theoretical part presenting the main concepts of the work, which are forests and harmful agents that cause forest calamities. Since conflicts between actors often have a legal character, the theoretical part describes the legal regulation regarding forests in the Czech Republic. The next part is the methodological part, in which the research questions are defined, which consist in determining the main conflicts, groups of actors and the specification of forests and forest disasters. Quantitative content analysis was chosen to find the answers to the set research questions. The methodological part is followed by the practical part, in which the data is analyzed and the answers are explained. The results are then summarized in the conclusion of the work. This practical bachelor's thesis, which includes a 16-minute radio documentary titled Thrown into Reality, deals with the study preparation and professional beginnings of graduates in teaching disciplines and their original expectations compared to the reality of pedagogical practice. Given the ambiguity of the radio documentary genre, which oscillates on the border of journalistic and artistic style, one of the goals of this theoretical part of the work is to provide insight into this genre in comparison with other journalistic genres, which are very close to its definition and characteristics (feature, band, reportage). The primary way of obtaining information for this document - a dialogue or interview - is also shortly described. One of the subchapters presents several examples of contemporary Czech radio documentaries. In the second part, the topic of radio document itself is introduced, namely the most common issues of beginning teachers and the introduction of recent graduates to their first job position, followed by author's reflection of the work. This diploma theses titled Story building in serial format focusing on the Chernobyl miniseries analyses the serial Chernobyl coproduced by American HBO and British Sky aired in 2019. Chernobyl miniseries gained public recognition and still ranks as one of the highest-rated TV shows in history according to movie databases in the Czech Republic and abroad. It also received wide media coverage from different newspapers and movie servers. The miniseries has five episodes it describes primarily the human aspect of a horrifying disaster in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986. The main aim of this theses is content and dramaturgy analysis, description, and development of individual characters and themes. This diploma thesis also focuses on the story building of a serial in terms of theoretical concepts and aspects typical for making serials and series. Moreover, the thesis mentions particular Czech and international reviews of Chernobyl.

The diploma thesis deals with Iran and Israel as cultural units in terms of their history, religion, society and politics and looks for the features that unite these nations. The information in this diploma thesis concerning individual countries and festivals is then put into context with the development of their cinematography, which is presenting various topics, features and approaches that have been developed over the years. Subsequently, the thesis creates an overview of all films by Iranian and Israeli filmmakers, which were presented at one of the three most prestigious international film festivals (the Cannes Film Festival, the Venice International Film Festival and the Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin) in the period 1989-2019. Based on this overview, the thesis examines the success of the films and their creators, topics and explains how these variables have changed over time. It observes certain trends in the development of their cinematography and sum up the impact within some unique festivals in the Czech Republic. This thesis deals with the media image of Karel Gott after his death. Selected newspapers are Lidové noviny, Blesk, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Bild and analysed are 24 days after the announcement of the death of Karel Gott. The aim of the selection of newspapers in both languages was to include one periodical which is considered as quality press and one tabloid. The thesis consist of three parts. The theoretical part explains crucial terms for the analysis and introduces chosen newspapers. The methodological part clarifies the concept of qualitative research and grounded theory. The main part is comprised of the analytical part which describes outcome of the analysis and in four periods presents constructed images of Karel Gott. In conclusion, images created in Czech and German press are compared and subsequently, a comparison between the Czech media is drawn.

This diploma thesis deals with the attitude of the Z generation to Czech documentary films and series. The aim of the work is to describe the common tendencies of the whole generation Z or its subgroups within their attitude to Czech documentary production. The research method for determining the attitude of this generational cohort is a questionnaire survey. In the beginning the Z generation is characterized, its formants and basic characteristics are analyzed. One of the subchapters also focuses especially on the Czech generation Z. In the theoretical part space is also devoted to documentary production, specifically its characteristics, typology and history of documents. The genre of the document is presented both in the global context and also in the Czech environment in the work. The practical part describes the research which has the form of a questionnaire survey. The results are presented for each evaluated question separately while at the end there is a collective summary with the most important and interesting findings from the research.

This diploma thesis "Media image of Andreje Babiš in the following newspapers: Mladá fronta DNES, Právo Hospodářské noviny and Lidové noviny in the connotation with the affair of a stork's nest" focuses on issue of the media image of an important public figure, politician and head representative of the most popular party in our republic in the time periods chosen for the purpose of this diploma thesis (May 2016, August 2017 and March 2018). It is a well known fact, that Andrej Babiš purchased, through his company Agrofert certain media, for example Mladá fronta DNES and Lidové noviny, in the year 2013. This diploma thesis is an attempt to portray if a fact of this acquisition had any influence on media image of Andrej Babiš in those newspapers, meaning Mladá fronta DNES and Lidové noviny. This media image is going to be compared with the media image of Andrej Babiš in the same time periods in the newspapers Právo and Hospodářské noviny. This diploma thesis deals with the media representation of social classes and inequalities in the popular Czech series Most!. It focuses primarily on the conception of classes in Czech society and on aspects of the construction of everyday reality through the series. It also identifies the stereotypes, which have a potential influence on the formation of the viewer's opinions and attitudes. The thesis was created on the basis of a qualitative content analysis of the series with the aid of multimodal analysis, which focuses on linguistic and visual communication of the characters. To enrich this analysis, an element of the type was also added to the analysis. This type provides a comparison the characters with the social types in Czech society. The analysis of the paper was also inspired by the project Divided by Freedom, from the year of 2019, which divided society into several classes. The paper follows this research and class sorting and applies it to the series Most!. This diploma thesis defines social classes, the way in which they are represented and how this representation forms reality through stereotypes. Thanks to the element of type in the analysis, a set of typical characteristics was recognized which connected the series and living world.

This Masters thesis is based on the qualitative content analysis of four autobiographies of film directors Krzysztof Kieslowski, Vojtech Jasny, Roman Polanski and Juraj Herz. The main goal of his thesis is to find out what are the most important aspects of the craft of directing for the selected directors of fiction and documentary films. The second goal is to point to similarities between the craft of journalists and the craft of film directors. The thesis consists of two central parts. In the first part, the craft of the director is analysed from the perspective of personal character traits of the directors. In the second part, the craft is analysed from the perspective of making a film with focus on coming up with ideas, creating scripts and directors the actors. This thesis is written from the perspective of an author who wishes to follow a career in making documentary films. This diploma thesis The Role of Sound in Audiovision focuses on the topic of perception of viewers of the audio component in audiovisual outputs. The aim of the work is to find out to what extent viewers perceive all sound components of these works and whether they consider sound important. The theoretical part of the work provides insight into the psychology of sound in terms of affecting the perception of viewers, the types of sounds used in the media and their use. The research part presents the obtained data and their evaluation to find answers to questions focused on sound perception.

This diploma thesis studies the life story of czech journalist Jan Štern and analyzes his articles in the magazine "Listy", which was illegal in the former Czechoslovakia until the end of 1989. The main goal is, in addition to the description of Štern's life when he went through the concentration camp, the Prague Uprising and the revolution against the communist regime, to find answers of research questions: "Do the texts encourage the reader to do something specific, if so, to what?", "What is the nature of the texts: descriptive, entertaining, contemplative, reviewing or dictating?" and "What is the focus of the texts, are they of a purely political nature?". The evaluation was based on a combined content analysis of 62 articles from the 70s and 90s of the 20th century and the results show that 74 % of the texts do not contain a direct call or persuasion, 79 % of articles can be described as a contemplation or combination of contemplation and description and every arcticle responds to a political issue. The whole work ends with a conclusion, a list of used sources, theses, a list of appendices, bibliography of used articles from the magazine "Listy" and transcription of interview with Anna Šabatová.

The diploma thesis introduces the media image of Korean Peninsula within the news of Czech Television from 2015 to 2020. Korean Peninsula is an incredibly interesting area in terms of history, politics, economics, culture and international relations, including relations between the two Koreas and the Czech Republic. Czech Television was chosen to depict the two state units existing on the Korean Peninsula, which should - due to its specific position as a public service medium - provide viewers objective and impartial news. The theoretical part introduces the basic concepts and theories, focusing on the media public service broadcasting, media construction of reality, gatekeeping and agenda-setting. Considerable attention is also given to Czech Television itself and the Korean Peninsula, where among the other things, the key historical moments of this region are briefly explained and the media environment of both Koreas is overviewed closely. In the practical part, the collected data is analyzed, both quantitative and qualitative methods. Within the content analysis, the data are sorted by frequency, order, topic or tone of the content. Interactive cinema is a relatively unexplored area of film and new media studies. This thesis summarizes the theories and models which relate to interactivity, interactive narrative and interactive cinema that have been developed so far, and defines the main elements which the interactive cinema consists of. It sets this area in the context of new media and their properties, such as interactivity and convergence. It also briefly deals with interactive cinema from the historical perspective. The thesis explains the basic methods of narrative and visual analysis, especially in the context of interactive cinema. These findings are then used in the analysis of three films with a nonlinear narrative structure using viewers interaction. These movies are set into the models and theories that were introduced in the first part of this thesis. Finally, the films are compared and confronted with the author's hypothesis, which is based on the relatively negative public acceptance of interactive cinema.

This diploma thesis with the title The phenomenon of Karel Gott in Czech press during 1960s-1980s researches a media representation of Karel Gott. Media representation of the most popular singer of Czechoslovakia is in this thesis constructed based on the analysis of media contents of three contemporary printed serials during the years 1959-1989. The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the area of cultural politics, it deals with specific attributes of popular music in Czechoslovakia and it also presents the identity of Karel Gott. The diploma thesis deals with political satire in the Show Jana Krause at the time of selected elections in the Czech Republic in the years 2010-2019. Altogether six sub-periods in which the chosen elections were held were examined, which means that the general sample of episodes of the Show Jana Krause is formed from six smaller samples. The aim of the work was to find out what form political satire had in the show in the monitored period, how often it appeared in it and which political actors were most often its target. The research method was a quantitative content analysis with the help of which the work seeks answers to the following four research questions. RQ1: How much space was devoted to political satire in the Show Jana Krause? RQ2: What elements of political satire does the Show Jana Krause use? RQ3: What politicians, or which political subjects were most often satirically portrayed on the show? RQ4: What topics did political satire on the Show Jana Krause focus on the most? Radio Bedtime Stories Mirroring Socio-political Changes in Czechoslovakia in the "Golden Sixties" The aim of the work is a media analysis of Dobrou noc, děti (Good Night, Children) - a radio bedtime story series broadcast in the years 1961-1971. In addition to the origin and development of the programme, allusions to contemporary socio-political events, which were reflected in its content, are also examined. The dissertation deals with the changes in the radio programme and follows them from the beginning of socio-political changes in the 1960s until the beginning of the "normalization era". In this work, the radio bedtime story is also conceived from an anthropological perspective as a cultural phenomenon. The dissertation is formally divided into three parts-historical, empirical and interpretive. The focus of the historical chapter is a description of the development of radio in Czechoslovakia. The empirical part includes an analysis of the radio bedtime story in the years 1961-1971. The interpretive part deals mainly with how the radio bedtime story and its creators reacted to political anniversaries and Christian holidays in the period under review. At the end of the work, the programme is examined from an anthropological point of view as a cultural change.

The diploma thesis on the topic Changes in the programming scheme of the ČT 2 channel after the amendment to the Czech Television Act of 2011 examines whether this television channel was commercialized after the law changed the rules for placing advertisements and advertising messages on public service television channels. The ČT 2 channel was conceived as an alternative channel intended for a more demanding audience. From the logic of its focus, such a channel does not aim at high viewership. Nevertheless, the amendment to the law designated it for the sale of advertising time as the only full-format channel of Czech Television. This diploma thesis focuses on the qualitative analysis of selected episodes of the documentary series Kronika našeho života, which is considered to be one of the greatest propaganda television works at that time of producing. Its forty episodes were originally broadcasted on the first channel of the Czechoslovak Television from April until June 1985. Due to the significant extent of all the episodes, this thesis only focuses on ten. Namely the episodes about the following years: 1945, 1948, 1953, 1956, 1964, 1968, 1969, 1977, 1982 and 1984. The objective of this thesis is to find out which propaganda techniques were used and how they differed in the selected episodes. The analysis works with nine propaganda techniques drawn out by an American sociologist Alfred McClung Lee and maps them in the selected episodes. Furthermore, in order to describe the media image of the series at the time of its broadcasting, the thesis focuses on the analysis of selected Czechoslovakian periodicals. The diploma thesis The depiction of the Watergate scandal in the movies: Comparison of feature films and documentaries focuses on portrayal of journalists and the Watergate scandal on film. It illustrates this on examples of specific feature films and documentaries, which have been made about this topic. These particular movies are All the President's Men (1976), Frost/Nixon (2008), Watergate (2018), Our Nixon (2013) a Nixon by Nixon: In His Own Words (2014). In the first part of the thesis summarises the general history of the portrayal of journalists and media on film. It also contains the introduction of the key players in the Watergate scandal, which are Richard Nixon, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Furthermore, this part also describes the history of the newspaper The Washington Post and the Watergate scandal itself. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to outline to a potential reader the work of Mrs. Kamila Moučková in Radio Free Europe. It is desirable that the reader can create a comprehensive view of the issue. For this reason, the bachelor's thesis contains a chapter describing in detail the life story of Mrs. Kamila Moučková. At the same time, the work describes the origin and development of Radio Free Europe. Attention is focused mainly on the activities of the Czechoslovak and subsequently the Czech editorial office of Radio Free Europe. Due to the fact that Mrs. Moučková joined the editorial office of Free Europe only in the post- revolutionary period, it is necessary to describe the transformation of the station in the period in question. The work was processed mainly by the method of analysis of professional literature and by interviewing former colleagues Mrs. Moučková from Radio Free Europe. Namely Mr. Radko Kubička and Mr. Petr Hartman. Mrs. Moučková worked at Radio Free Europe for almost the entire period of the Czech newsroom's existence. Mrs. Moučková participated mainly in the program Události a názory. In her case, the practical creation of one of the programs of this iconic radio station in the later phase of its existence can be shown.

The Trends in Czech TV Travel Series Between the Years 2010-2020 diploma thesis outlines the typology and main trends in travel series that premiered on Czech public broadcast television channels between 2010 and 2020. The aim of this thesis is to introduce categories of Czech TV travel series and describe how the viewer is addressed. In the theoretical section, the terms such as TV travel journalism and the issue of celebritization and celebrification are defined. By introducing the concept of the Tourist Gaze, the problematic aspects of TV travel series are defined, be it the stereotypization of a displayed environment or the commercialization of its content. Following the methodology section, the thematical classification of Czech TV travel series is presented. In turn, the main part of the thesis focuses on establishing five typological categories of the travel series. After analysing several randomly selected episodes of the programmes, the thesis then sums up the most important peculiarities of Czech public broadcast production of travel series between the years 2010-2020 and identifies the most crucial development trends within the genre.

This paper focuses on the changes in distribution of television content which emerged during the process of convergence between television and digital media. Nowadays it is possible not only to access television broadcasting online, but also to access individual programs through Video on Demand services. The precondition this topic was picked on is that the very existence of such services has a direct impact on the form of today's television broadcasting. Therefore the aim of this paper is to examine and describe alterations which can be found not only in the broadcasting itself but also in receiving of that broadcasting on television screens. The latter can be affected by the existence of HbbTV. The analysis and description of changes in broadcasting and receiving television content in Czech republic are the primary focuses of this paper.

The presented dissertation addresses main issues of film education. It deals with the fact, that film has become a subject of education in the Czech Republic and other European countries in the last years. Thus, it has also had its place in the Czech Framework Education Programme for elementary and grammar schools (gymnasia) since 2010, as Film and Audiovisual Education, a complementary subject of the Art and Culture educational area. The so-called Christmas Crisis of the Czech Television is a sequence of events at the turn of 2000 and 2001, when the editors of the Czech Television news, with the support of leading Czech politicians connected with the Four Coalition, rebelled against the officially elected leadership of the Czech Television. During this three-month crisis, we were able to watch something until then absolutely unprecedented on our TV screens, namely dual broadcasting. On the one side the official broadcast under the leadership of Jana Bobošíková, and on the other side the so-called pirate broadcast of revolting CT employees. The main goal of this bachelor's thesis is to draw the overall media image of the Christmas crisis of the Czech Television with the help of quantitative content analysis. This master's thesis focuses on the journalistic activity of Otka Bednářová in Czechoslovak Television in the 1960s. Its aim is mapping the activity of the editor in the stated period. Otka Bednářová was one of the first women which started using investigative element. It was new in the Czechoslovak Journalism. The work is divided into two parts. In the first part the reader learns about the life of Otka Bednářová before and after her work in Czechoslovak Television. The second part is the most comprehensive and includes brief information about the history of Czechoslovak Television and about the origin of Television Journalism in this period in Prague, Ostrava and Brno. There is also a history of the broadcast "Zvědavá kamera" including its authors. The author of the work presents individual pieces of work where Otka Bednářová collaborated. The sample consists of media outputs of two select media under the Economia publishing house, namely Hospodářské noviny and the Aktuálně.cz news website, 14 days prior to the second round of both elections. The paper discusses various theoretical aspects of newspaper endorsement in - mostly US - media and briefly presents examples in the Czech ones as well. The core of the thesis is a quantitative content analysis via which we can attain the volume of explicit and implicit candidate support in select media, as well as find any correlation with the concrete examples of endorsement in both outlets. Primary aim of the bachelor thesis is to compare the program scheme of television ČT1, as a public service medium and TV Prima, as a commercial television and describe the methods used for the program scheme creation. The main aim of this practical bachelor's thesis is to present author's audio-visual film. The theoretical part describes the basic principles of documentary and journalistic production. Further it generalizes the basic aspects of audio-visual communication. The final theoretical part of the thesis develops the phenomenon of videojournalism. It describes important principles, briefly the procedure of work and it illustrates videojournalism on the Czech environment, especially in the field of mobile journalism. The main part of the practical bachelor's thesis is the journalistic document, which is based on the principles of videojournalism. During the process, the author found herself in the role of reporter, cameraman, sound engineer or editor. The journalistic film will capture the environment of the recorder at the elementary art school with emphasis on presuming recorder as non-full-fledged instrument. The audiovisual film shows the opinions of elementary art schoolteacher, professional recorder player and student of music academy. They talk about the uniqueness of the recorder, its vulnerability, and the threat of the stereotype.

Diploma thesis Czech satire TV shows: Current status aims to discover how contemporary television production works with satirical genre. Using qualitative analysis of sample of three selected shows regarded as satirical: Cosmic, Gnome and Nadrazi, it tries to describe and answer questions what topics are brought to the audience and what image of these motives the series present. After the necessary theoretical anchoring that defines satirical genre, its status in certain critical approaches and a brief history of satirical production on Czech television screens after the Velvet Revolution follows a practical analysis of plots and formal structures of the series. The analysis focuses on identification and description of satirical objects as they are shown in each of the shows. In conclusion, the thesis connects results of the analysis and findings from the theoretical part to research questions.
